Love it!
Update 11/5/25: I have been with Danielle for 9 months now, 3x/week and for the first time in 9 years I have shed the extra pounds, built back the muscle strength I knew I had in me, increased my stability (which I hadn't even realized was becoming terrible), and gained a better understanding of protein intake and nutrition. She knows her stuff, has a great gym to work out of, and keeps things focused while utilizing an assortment of exercises and equipment. I'm so grateful for her. 💛💪

Working with Danielle, my personal trainer has been a game-changer for me. Her strength training program at ThriveRVA helped me build real, lasting strength, and her motivational support kept me going even on tough days. She struck the perfect balance between pushing me and encouraging me by progressively increasing the weights on me. Thanks to her, I feel stronger both physically and mentally.

If you are searching for a personal trainer that will not only; stick with you, is patient, knows how to help you put in that good work, but also truly cares and is passionate about your health??!! Then Danielle Barnes is the real deal! I work out with in one of her small group settings where I can grow, mind and body, with other women who are so encouraging and uplifting. We also challenge each other to do the hard stuff! Recently some of us were feeling stuck and Danelle challenged us to a 30 day no sugar challenge. I personally lost 16 lbs in the 30 days and learned how much what I ate was affecting my body. I would highly encourage anyone to give her classes a try and do not be afraid to commit. You will not be sorry.

Working with Danielle has been incredibly rewarding. We started by talking about what I wanted to get from our time together. Danielle then created workouts tailored to my goals. I’ve never enjoyed working out, but Danielle helped keep work out interesting by teaching me tons of new exercises so I don’t just have to do the same things over and over. Danielle has decades of training, certifications and experience in the nutrition and fitness industry. She works well with advanced clients, and clients working through major lifestyle changes for nutrition and exercise. Her business app you use is easy to use and is great for managing your schedule. Her work ethic is some of the best I’ve seen in the industry. Her rates are much lower than the big chains. So grateful she was referred by a friend.

I don’t even know where to begin but I will simply say that Danielle is awesome. Full of knowledge and so inspiring. I finally feel like I found a place that feels like home. Best experience I’ve ever had with a personal trainer. Danielle started out talking to me about my goals and she looked at every facet of my health, including my eating habits, my medication’s and even my bloodwork she gave recommendations on vitamins and different foods that I could eat that would improve my health. Danielle also listen to my goals when it came to exercise and strengthening. She has the best personal trainer I have ever had and she is a blessing

Pre covid, I did multiple morning classes a week with Big D! Unfortunately due to covid, she had to cancel all group classes. Despite eventually getting back into working out on my own, I still longed for those zero dark thirty workouts where I was still half asleep. Nothing Iike rolling in there not knowing what kind of different and definitely challenging workout Danielle would have for us, but was always good times and we really did have an awesome group. When Danielle reached out to me several months ago pitching the idea of starting up the 5 am classes again, I was game even though I originally thought I would never have the motivation/dedication to do those early morning classes again. All it took was the feeling I had after that first class getting back into it and then I was hooked again. Thanks again Danielle for making this happen.

Danielle has been my trainer for several years. I first met her at Gold’s Gym. When she started her workout program at her home I started working out with her. I soon moved to group sessions. She’s not only a great trainer but knows so much about nutrition . She’s energetic and always has a positive attitude towards her clients. I have no doubt that God put Danielle in our path just at the right time. Our daughter has grown to trust Danielle, and while the physical workout aspect has been very beneficial, the life coach and mentoring to get out of "stinkin' thinking" and negativity has been huge. She's regaining confidence, learning healthy alternatives, and motivated to fight depression. (Things we'd tried to work on, but one of those times it's better heard from someone besides a parent.)
Our daughter has gone from, "How long do I HAVE to do this (for her high school PE credit)?" to "How long do I GET to do this?" This is such an investment in our daughter's mental and physical health, and we're here for the long run! Thank God for Danielle and Thrive Fitness RVA!

Danielle is amazing to work with. She can help you in all areas of fitness, nutrition, mental wellness, mindset... you name it. And she is FUN! Also you are in her private gym so it makes it so much more comfortable to work out and not have to worry about other people watching what you are doing like in the big gyms. She has great gym equipment and diversified workouts.
