Justin at Training Ground Rosslyn is phenomenal. I started working with him only a month ago after a long stretch of burnout, low energy, poor health and bad fitness habits—and he’s helped me completely reset, both physically and mentally. Justin brings a rare mix of expertise, encouragement, and patience. He listens closely, tailors every workout to your goals and limits, and actually teaches you why you're doing what you're doing.

Hannah is smart, careful, observant and intuitive. There's no exercise she can't adapt to accommodate whatever--shoulders, neck, lower back--and the modifications somehow never dilute the benefit of the workout. She knows just when to ramp up the intensity and sometimes I don't even realize she did. I read a whole bunch of bios this time before starting to exercise again. Consider myself very fortunate to have landed with Hannah and give all credit for my renewed enthusiasm & commitment to her!

Training ground is definitely working well for me. Having never been to a gym and being of senior age my concerns were quickly alleviated by the manager and staff. Rahim listened to all my concerns regarding previous injuries, etc and tailored the workouts accordingly. His attention to detail in the plan and especially the execution of each exercise routine resulted in steadily progressive sessions that fully meet my expectations.

Training Grounds at Ballston is a small but well-equipped gym with a truly welcoming, friendly atmosphere. It's conveniently located right next to Ballston Mall, so parking is never an issue, and the Ballston Metro station is just a 3-minute walk away. I followed my personal trainer, Lina Kamalova, to this new space and couldn't be happier with the change (although honestly, I would follow her anywhere).
Lina is, by far, the most knowledgeable and caring fitness professional l've ever worked with. Her understanding of human kinetics is unparalleled: she immediately notices even the slightest deviation from proper technique and corrects it with clear explanations and demonstrations that help me both understand and remember.
If an exercise is too challenging for me to perform correctly, Lina always finds a safe and effective alternative that works the same muscle groups. I especially appreciate that she incorporates a wide range of functional exercises that engage multiple muscle groups at once - exercises I never would have thought of on my own.
I have several herniated spinal discs due to past sports and work injuries, but Lina's approach works around my physical limitations by strengthening weaker, underused muscles and balancing out the overworked ones. Thanks to her guidance and expertise, not only have I achieved a solid remission, but my overall fitness level has improved dramatically.
I feel confident and safe with Lina, knowing that my progress and fitness goals are as important to her as they are to me.

A great gym with even better staff. I’ve been training with Richie for about four months now and my only regret is not starting four months sooner. After four years of college athletics, I thought I could never bring myself to train in a structured, challenging environment again but Richie and the facilities at Training Ground have enabled me to stack one productive, engaging session after the next and there is no end in sight. I am hoping to buy a home soon, and being able to keep going to this gym is warping my entire housing search; that is how much I enjoy this place. Richie and the other trainers (shout out to Rahim and Lisa) are knowledgeable, professional, positive, and overall great to be around.

I am not a workout junkie so his patience is extremely appreciated. The gym itself is nice and clean and rarely, if ever, crowded. Never waiting for machines or the like. Training Ground has great facilities, and Evelina Kamalova is an exceptional trainer. No matter your age, fitness level, or ability, Evelina will work with you to elevate your physical capabilities. She's not into body-building (unless that's what you want!) - she's your partner to make sure you are able to do the activities you want to enjoy outside of the gym. Training Ground's new location Rosslyn is great! I've been going to the Ballston location the previous 2 years, and have thoroughly enjoyed it, no complaints whatsoever. I have moved over to their brand new, bigger, and amazing location in Rosslyn. Why is this space an upgrade from an already great gym over in Ballston?

-Free parking? why yes! Parking is FREE if you park at the parking garage literally right around the corner. this is unheard of in Arlington as most of us know.
If that doesn't sell you, the trainers are awesome. Personal training should never feel like an after thought like it can in a commercial gym that you're sharing space and equipment with the general masses. The manger of both locations, Heather, is great and easy to work with.

Training Ground changed my life.
I have always played sports growing up and I still play soccer recreationally. I never knew how to weight lift. I would accompany friends to the gym and then didn’t know what to do both in terms of technique and exercises. After Covid I found myself with a lot of excess weight from full time teleworking. I met with Heather for an initial consultation. She was amazing, non-judgmental and thorough. When I left the consultation, Heather said she had “the perfect trainer in mind”. She was right.
I’ve been training with Rahim for about 6 months now and it’s my favorite part of my day. I used to view working out as a chore and now it’s an activity I’m excited for. Rahim has been life-changing —there’s really no other word—. He taught me proper techniques for all the exercises so I felt confident in what I was doing. Additionally, Rahim learned my limits and perfectly designs sessions to push me a lot but still complete the workout. His attitude is infectious. Every set is met with praise —even if it wasn’t perfect— as Rahim finds something positive in every set. When an exercise is not right for me —whether it’s because of an old injury or current fatigue in the session— Rahim is always ready with modifications and alternative exercises. Lastly Rahim has worked with me on my diet and I finally feel confident with my body.
Everyone at Training Ground, not just Rahim and Heather, are so approachable and friendly. All the trainers know my name and provide massive encouragement. I would train with any of them in a heartbeat.
If you are looking for a lifestyle change and are afraid/don’t know how to start: this is the place for you. Friendly, unarguable results, and a safe positive environment for everyone.

Before I started working with Rahim I didn't realize how much of my internal monologue was negative when I worked out on my own. Having a trainer there to instruct, correct, and encourage you makes such a huge difference, not only in making sure you're optimizing your time spent and results but also to make the gym a happy, social place to be.
