They have friendly staff. I really wanted to like this gym, but there are just so many problems.
First, the equipments are constantly broken and they stay broken for a really long time. The only chest fly machine is missing an arm, the cable on the cable machine is snapped, and the calf machine recently disappeared entirely. It’s always the same machines breaking over and over. I’ve never been to a gym where things break down at this rate. These are big metal machines, they shouldn't break this easily? What’s going on? Is someone sabotaging them?
And it usually takes them a long time to fix anything. Shouldn’t they have spare parts for the most problematic machines?
Second, the place is really worn out. I don’t think they’ve replaced the rubber flooring in over ten years. The floor is turning black, making the place look dirty and neglected.
Third is the complete lack of rule enforcement and hygiene and health standards. I've seen people putting their bare, crusted feet on the machines. Management does nothing to stop it.
Until these major issues are addressed, I can't recommend this gym to anyone.

This company continues to charge my credit card without any authorization, even though my membership was cancelled many months ago. I was also supposed to receive a refund, since the cancellation was due to medical reasons, but I never got it. Their lack of transparency and responsibility is unacceptable. I strongly advise others to be cautious before doing business with them.

Been going to the Northgate 24 Hour for a few years now. No complaints, really. Never a problem getting in a good powerlifting style workout. I don't really know about the sauna, etc. I just use the weights and machines.

The bathroom, showers and locker area has not been cleaned in over a week. Is absolutely disgusting. Hairs everywhere, paper and trash everywhere. I wouldn't take a shit in that bathroom even if you pay me.
This is the Northgate 24 hour fitness in Seattle.
I am in a year membership I want to end my membership.. Who ever manage this gym should get fired.
There is always 2 or 3 guys in the front desk hanging out while everything is absolutely disgusting!

You really need to work in bathroom, sauna and pool cleanliness.
Is disgusting.
Instead of paying 3 guys to be chatting on the front door, get 1 to clean. This place needs attention.

The sauna smells like BO really bad. I’m not sure how anyone can stomach it. There seems to be no prevention of anyone just walking in fully clothed in sweaty gym clothes and shoes. I get that it’s difficult to lay down some ground rules but the status quo is absolutely disgusting.

I will start with the good. The members and community at this gym are great. The classes they offer are fun and the teachers are well trained. I think that for the most part, the equipment is good. A few machines stay broken for longer than they should.
But now for the bad. This place is DIRTY. Like health code violation DIRTY.
The management here decides to use their $50 kettle bells as door stops and lets them sit and rust on the pool deck instead of just using a doorstop.
The shower in the pool area has gnats living in the corners.
The front desk folks for the most part are nice but just sit on their phones for their whole shift. Management is poor.
It bums me out having to write this review for hopes of getting any of these problems addressed instead of management doing their jobs when the issues are brought to their attention.

And she like sorry I have an accent she speak proper English to me
And she was talking to a customer already and only acknowledge her own color

There are a lot of things that I love about 24 hour fitness in Northgate - the community, the group classes, the mostly friendly staff, etc. But I am writing this review because recently the facilities have been VERY POORLY taken care of - risking both health and safety of its patrons. This includes, among many other things - bugs along the walls of the pool shower, mold in the showers, lack of soap in the majority of the women's showers, a broken suit dryer, holes in the locker room ceiling and buckets catching water, lockers that do not work (those with locks built in), and poorly draining showers which create a slip hazard for the many older and elderly patrons who are at the gym just trying to keep up their health and fitness.
When talking to the staff they claim that it's a staffing issue and that they have little to no support from corporate. No matter what the issue, for the people who enjoy the gym for all its amenities (classes, equipment, sauna/spa/pool, locker rooms, showers), it is undeniable that things have been falling apart over the last several years. My hope is that this helps to bring attention to the issues at this gym so that they can be addressed and that we can continue to enjoy our gym.

They are a little slow to get things repaired but overall it's a solid place to work out for the money. There's a nice mix of people, from dedicated weight lifters to elderly trying to stay active types, which is my favorite thing about it. No one has ever bothered me there as woman working out alone and I've never seen anyone else have problems. Staff are relatively nice and helpful but not overly friendly.

For now, one star. Machine maintenance is terrible. Two very popular bicep machines have cracks and splits where the elbows rest which is really uncomfortable and near unusable. One machine they tried repairing with electrical tape that split open in two days. How much can a new pad possibly cost? A very heavily used calf machine is still broken. It was broken in early August for about two weeks, and then I went on a two week vacation, came back, and still broken and that was ten days ago. Still broken as of yesterday September 8th. Issues used to be addressed quickly, but something is different now.

To management of this location your night staff has been intentionally shutting of the sauna and steam room equipment at 9:30 every night instead of scheduled closing time 11pm. They have arrogantly boasted about it to guests. If the owner(s) and management of this location care about their guests they will put a cease to this and reprimand the employee(s) responsible.

I recommend this location! Everyone is super friendly and just focused on what they are there to do. There is enough space and equipment to workout without having to wait around and the facilities are clean and well kept. Shout out to the staff who are also professional, courteous and helpful anytime I have had a question. Special shout out to Avalon for their customer service and professionalism greeting everyone, which makes a difference! As far as location Northgate is a dynamic place with enough to do and explore. I forgot to add there’s also a pool at this location which I really appreciate!

Edit:
Fun update. Somebody ran into me while doing farmers carry and caused me to drop the dumbbell, then became aggressive and confrontational to myself and the staff about it.
Not only did they not do anything about it, but then the manager thought it would be appropriate to show the embarrassing footage of it to customers that don't work there.
Go here because it's the only game in town for what I need right now, if I'm being real. Unprofessional.
Been coming here consistently for at least 2 years. Mixed feelings about the place. I wish the staff was more on the ball about keeping the bumper plate racks organized. Pet peeve is when the 45's are stacked so deep the one at the end falls off if you bump into the rack. It becomes a safety issue at that point. A 45 on someone's foot from that height can easily break a bone, seen it happen with a 25. Would be more understandable if I didn't watch staff/personal trainers working right next to the rack and walking right by it. Also wish they would put more effort into keeping an eye on people's gym etiquette, safety-wise, and say something when people are making safety violations. Have had people walk under or very close to my barbell while doing heavy lifts more times than I can count due to not paying attention or just not caring for etiquette. I've begun to dread coming in here more and more as time goes on... these issues would be easier to swallow if I felt like there was more of a community environment but it's more like going to the McDonald's of gyms... workers don't want to be there and it shows.
I don't know that I can blame them... pay is probably garbage and they deal with bs on a daily basis. Treat your staff better. Place needs some leadership, the lack of motivation is palpable.

Nice club with lots of equipment: basketball gym, free weights, machines & Group X room, pool, hot tub, sauna & steam room . Several classes throughout the day. Janitorial service keeps the place clean.
Downsides I have found are: equipment break downs take a long time to repair. Also, many sit on equipment looking at their cell phones. It’s annoying to have to wait so long to use a piece of sit down equipment. 24 hour has a no loitering on equipment policy, but it’s not enforced.
Staff is always friendly. If you can get a good deal on a membership, it’s definitely worth joining.

Okay, gym. I’ve been a member for generations and have used almost all their locations during their heyday in different states. However, since the pandemic, they’ve declined significantly, leading to the closure of numerous other locations. Consequently, they’re no longer worth the membership fee. Just like your typical commercial gyms, they’ve become extremely crowded here. Due to age and some joint problems related to age, I no longer play basketball. I did uuse the pool from time to time. Additionally, the days of having towels are long gone. They were removed years ago, but I was under the impression that since they’ve scaled down, means more money again for the corporate folks at the top. Perhaps they’ll bring them back, but unfortunately, that’s not the case. It was a great run while it lasted.

I’ve had a 24 Hour Fitness membership for a long time, and discovered years ago that they offer several fun and effective training classes. One of the classes we really enjoy is BodyPump. We moved to the Lynnwood gym when our regular gym closed during COVID. We discovered one of the BodyPump instructors, Allison, is amazing! We go to as many of her classes as we can. She also teaches at the Northgate gym, so we started taking her classes there also. Although we never had any interest in taking a cycling class before, Allison teaches both Cycle24 and RPM classes at Lynnwood, so we started taking those classes too. Allison works us hard, but we really enjoy the workouts and feel great when we finish. We’ve made good friends in classes at both Lynnwood and Northgate locations. Her classes are EXTREMELY popular, so make sure you sign up early to get a spot. I’m sure you are going to love her classes too.

Be careful about predatory business practices, particularly in sales and memberships. Have witnessed this branch take advantage of seniors on a fixed income, who have cognitive functional decline and visual impairment by signing them up for pricey personal training and upselling membership levels via contracts and subscriptions that the seniors didn't have a strong understanding of. The appeal process for even small amounts of refunds sends us to their massive legal team, instead of anyone from the branch talking to us about a small refund. Just a strong reminder that they are an enormous national chain, and that they aren't really here to look out for their community. Sign up for a small business gym instead.
2/5/2025 Update: I used the link below in mid January to connect with someone at 24 hour, and haven't heard from anyone RE blatant ableism on display by the manager at this club. Very doubtful anyone will actually reach out to me.
3/24/2025 Update: Still haven't heard back from the legal team we submitted a claim to. It's a shame that the manager won't just speak to us about this and deal with it on a more personal level, but the fact that she dismissed any conversation about disability makes me believe she is apart of the predatory behavior in the first place.

Awesome gym. Huge space. Membership is very low cost. Friendly staff and clientele. They have just about every type of workout equipment you could want. Every machine works. If something breaks (which can happen when equipment is used constantly for 18 hours per day), it gets fixed within 2-3 days every time. It can be a bit crowded 5-7pm on weekdays, but any other time is not too crowded.

First off gotta say the staff was always very nice and accommodating, and this review isn’t reflective of them.
I used the membership a bit during the fall of 2024, but basically everytime I went in (as early as 7AM and late as 9PM) it was ALWAYS packed. Always. I could never finish a workout without waiting for at least one piece of equipment, and often had to substitute exercises to just move things along.
The gym was mostly kept clean, but there always seemed to be equipment that was broken (frequently the leg machines and cable machines).
Also, they don’t really have enough plates to support all of the benches and plate loaded machines when they ARE busy, so sometimes you’d be able to snag a bench but not be able to use enough 45s and have to cobble together random plates.
If you are looking for the absolute cheapest place that still offers a good variety of equipment, this could be that place. But if you value your time and patience I’d highly suggest going somewhere else.

If I give 0 stars I would.
I’ve been on & off with this gym in particular since 2014, when I first came here there were hospitable, friendly staff at the front always folding towels. The gym upkeep was nice, clean, people had gym etiquette.
Today?!?! Oh honey. There is no exclusivity, there were two young boys that kept coming in & out of the locker room trying to get a peep at naked women. Claiming they “didn’t know it was the women’s” but continued coming in multiple times. The women’s locker room is filthy. I almost wish gyms had to go through inspections like food restaurants and get ratings because this location would be CLOSED. They have upgraded equipment however should be investing in maintained and upkeep. The sauna window has grime and fingerprints all over it. I haven’t even peeked into the steam room since joining again out of convenience but it’s been horrendous, just seen a what looks like a homeless person pushing a cart around the gym today. I’m seriously appalled, I feel like I’m owed money back. Just find a private gym at this point. Invest in someone taking time to care for their space.

Overall - won't recommend primarily due to the attitude of gym mgmt.
I visited this facility, didn't like the attitude of staff towards new customers or towards customer retention.
For example- I would want a trial to gym but there was lot of debate and reluctance on giving 3 day trial to new custumers.
By the way 24 hours website gives this trial but this gym manger/ person on front desk doesn't entertain that offer!!!
Other issues
-New customer retention
-Washrooms look dated
-Pool has only 2 lanes
-weights area not so great compared to other gyms.
Other details
- parking is available
Cost and other gym details
- Timings - 5 am to 11 pm
- Per person membership - 36.99 each person
- Buddy membership- 44. 99, requires primary membership holder to be present for buddy to be able to use gym
- Annual fee charge of 59.99 once a year, around October or Aug each year
- Personal training seemed exorbitantly expensive.
- gym mgmt. didn't seem much interested in the group classes, could be because they don't make a much money from group classes.
-some group classes are available

It's a pretty big gym, but it can get crazy busy in the evenings. Also, a lot of the machines are broken and don't seem to be serviced regularly...Right now there is one working recumbant bike out of five with no repairs in sight. I've sliced open my hand on a weight machine they made a last ditch layman's attempt to repair with some wire. The machines are caked in dust, so i know nobody is wiping everything down...ever. They don't really turn on the ac in summer, so be prepared to broil.

So to the rest of the members becareful carry your stuff with you and don't leave anything valuable in the locker room, this could happen to anyone.

I would give zero start if I could.

2 days later, I came back and checked, still not cancel. Another employee told me the same thing, "only manager can do".
Does it make sences if they can help me register new membership , but not able to cancel current membership? At this point I knew they are playing.

I decided to signup anyway though because I really needed to start going back to the gym and this was the closest one to my apartment in Northgate. The location is super convenient for anyone living in the Enclave, Lane Apartments, Baldwin plus the other surrounding apartment buildings, neighborhoods, etc.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Charles at the front desk always has a smile on his face and the lady who signed me up was very informative about the whole process (sorry can’t remember her name!!). The instructor for the bodycombat class is awesome as well! She was very thorough with explaining the steps and idk how she did it but she made the class so fun, it felt like it was only 5 minutes! A very sweaty, energy filled, cardio focused 5 minutes lol! I love boxing and kickboxing so having this class as an option is wonderful.
The monthly cost is very feasible for all the amenities you get. I mean come on, you get full access to the gym/all equipment, group classes, a lap pool, sauna, steam room, AND a hot tub with the premium membership!
Only downsides are that it gets busy around 5-6, it’s hard to find open machine at that time BUT that is completely normal for any gym- it’s peak hours lol. Also, this is not a ‘24’ hour 24 hour fitness, it’s open from 5 AM to 11 PM. Which in my opinion is just fine because I wouldn’t go during the times they’re closed BUT if you are hoping to get in a 2 AM workout, look somewhere else.
All in all, this place gets 5 stars because I feel as though they are very customer focused and care about our experience at their gym. The Northgate 24 Hour Fitness has been a great addition to my fitness routine!

Once-upon-a-time, 24hr Fitness' Northgate Supercenter was Seattle's premiere fitness facility. NOW, it is POORLY RUN, uncaring that it is UNSAFE (equipment has not been maintained, and deteriorated) UNHEALTHY conditions prevail, staff are unresponsive (often glued to their phones, and chatting among eachother), member complaints are ignored, or met with immaturity, hostility, and even intimidation.
Fortunately, I also belong to LA Fitness, and Planet Fitness which have both improved, as 24hr Fitness declined; now precipitously. and with the repellent, disgruntled staff attitude of a soft firm, with a now- deservedly, short life expectsncy.

I've been here a few times now. They seem to do a pretty good job with the upkeep of this facility. All the weights and machines that I've used have been in good working order. They look used, but well used. Nothing broken or worn that I could see. Mirrors clean. Showers okay. Not bad!

Long-time and regular member and am seeking out a new gym. One commenter recently mentioned broken AC - it goes way beyond the AC. The HVAC system has never moved enough air and now it's completely shut down. You walk in and you're hit with a stagnant wave of humanity. It's unhealthy. Quite frankly it's disgusting. The only reason I've stuck around are the hours, and access to benches and racks but even that is less of a draw when you know this place is getting people sick. You can't cram over a hundred people into a space and not give them clean air. The place is not what it used it be that's for sure.

WARNING: Thieves will cut padlocks to steal valuables in the men's locker room.
I overhead a couple of guys talking about it in the locker room before and figured it was an isolated incident but I should've paid more attention. Apparently it happens more often than I realized. Today (May 30th 2024, ~3:30 pm) I came back to the locker after workout to find my lock was gone, bag is still in the locker but someone rummaged through my belongings, moved my jeans and stole the credit cards and all the cash out of my wallet. The thief tried to make a $400+ charge at a Safeway with my credit cards but was caught by the bank's fraud detection and the charge was declined. They also tried to place another $500+ order online but I called the bank immediately to stop the pending charge. The sales manager who took my report was apologetic but we all know there's not much to be done and the chance of catching the perpetrator is slim to none. Overall it wasn't a great loss (luckily) but it still soured my experience at this location and makes me question if I'd return.
Edited to add: In response to owner's comment, I already reported the incident with Hayden, the sales manager on duty.

My trainer (Camilla!) is incredible, and if you're going purely for using the facilities equipment, amenities, and trainers it's definitely worth it.
They don't offer a lot of classes, but I'd recommend class pass or something of that sort vs being dependent on a gym that is more built for independent workouts and training.

Although the gym does have all the equipment and facilities that I need and the staff is nice, I am about to drop my membership here because of one reason: the women's locker room is absolutely disgusting. It's completely filthy and today it looked worse than I've ever seen it. Hair, grime, bobby pins, dust bunnies, paper towel scraps literally all over the floor. Every flat surface is gross and has a layer of grime. It's too bad because the rest of the gym is decently clean. I'm not a clean freak or anything, but this is so appalling that I can't take it anymore. I was already on the fence about renewing because of the consistent filth, but after seeing it today, I am too grossed out to be here anymore. They need to hire a new cleaning person or have them come wayyyy more often. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks.

Introduction:
During the COVID pandemic, I decided to create my own garage gym to stay active. As a hybrid athlete who enjoys both heavy lifting and running half and full marathons, I also invested in a Peloton tread and membership. After a long hiatus from commercial gyms and no longer being a member of 24 Hour Fitness for quite some time, I couldn't resist the incredible deal of a $20/month membership, which was the original payment I used to make back in the day.
Gym Size and Equipment:
This gym is impressive and reminds me of the quality you would find at the Issaquah or Bothell locations of 24 Hour Fitness. It's definitely a step up from the now-closed Downtown Bellevue location and surpasses the equipment offered at the Downtown Seattle branch. I appreciate that the equipment here is modern and new, unlike the outdated equipment at the now-defunct Downtown Bellevue branch. However, it's important to note that this gym is not an Ultra Sport facility, so don't expect features like rock climbing, as you would find in the now-closed Irvine, CA location. It's worth mentioning that the spacing in the workout area feels a bit cramped, which limits walking space. Additionally, there seems to be a shortage of 5 or 10 lbs. plates, and if they are available, they are inconveniently located on the other side of the gym. Due to these layout issues, I must deduct a star from the overall rating.
Busyness:
Like any gym, this location tends to get quite crowded during typical workout hours, especially from Monday to Thursday between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM. However, the atmosphere is significantly more peaceful on Fridays and weekends. While I am unable to comment on the morning workout crowd as I no longer exercise during that time, I suspect mornings are relatively calm as well. But in the afternoons, expect to encounter some waiting time for equipment.
Miscellaneous:
I recall that in the past, 24-Hour Fitness used to provide small towels at their Super Sport locations. Unfortunately, it seems that corporate has implemented cost-cutting measures, and towels are no longer available at this location or any other 24 Hour Fitness facility I have visited, including those in Las Vegas.
Staff:
The staff at this gym are incredibly friendly, helpful, and have provided excellent service during my visits. However, I do see reviews that they seem to 'open late' due to staff arriving to work late.
Gym Goers/Diversity:
It's fascinating to observe the diverse group of people working out at various 24 Hour Fitness locations. This particular gym boasts a wonderfully diverse community, much like the Bellevue location, with individuals from Asian, African-American, and other racial backgrounds in North Seattle. In contrast, when I was a member at LA Fitness in Ballard, the gymgoers were predominantly Caucasian. Therefore, it's refreshing to see such a welcoming and diverse environment here, where everyone appears to be friendly and respectful.
Conclusion:
This 24 Hour Fitness gym is a decent choice for fitness enthusiasts. However, there is room for improvement in terms of the layout and organization of the equipment. It would greatly benefit from a reconfiguration that creates a more spacious and intuitive workout area, allowing for easier movement and smoother transitions between different pieces of equipment. Additionally, addressing the issue of misplaced weight plates would enhance the overall user experience. With these adjustments, the gym has the potential to provide an even better environment for its members.

Goodbye, 18 Hour Fitness. To be quite honest, it was your alleged stamina that I was attracted to.
And I need a gym that can go for a full 24 hours, non-stop.
I have needs that you can’t — and aren’t even interested in trying to fill.
I mean, I don’t even recognize you anymore. You are diminished. It’s like you are…exactly 3/4 of what you used to be. And I gave you 100% of myself, every time. But in return, you only gave me…exactly 75%.
…if it makes you feel any better, this is in part because of COVID. But make no mistake: the other part is all on you, and your rigid business model, post-COVID.
And no, it is not enough that some of your facilities have returned to 24 hour operations— because mine did not.
So goodbye Northgate 18 Hour Fitness. I loved you for your potential; in actuality, you did not deliver. And that is no basis for a healthy lasting
“re-member-lation-ship”.
