Unfortunately I cannot recommend 24 hour fitness. My main motivation for purchasing a membership was to have 24 hour gym access. Unfortunately this gym has recently reduced it's hours and is closed during times I want to go. The change in hours did not come with any membership discount. I am paying the same amount for less gym access.

Has Olympic platforms so that's cool. No pool or heavy bag. Decent amount of weights and cardio stuff. Very good staff. Older bathrooms/locker rooms never in great shape

The worst customer service!!!
I moved from Phoenix to Seattle area and started looking for the gym near me to get the membership.
I came to this gym to get a guest pass for 3 days, but this guy Zack Bradford, was very rude and obnoxious! He refused giving me a guest pass because I had the temporary driver license.( it takes 7 to 10 business days to get the actual ones in the new mail )
I never get a chance to check out this gym, but because of the customer service, I would never go back there, not advise anyone else!

Positives: wide variety of group fitness classes with great teachers. Only positive experiences at classes.
Negatives:
The flooring is outdated and stained. The ceiling has water stains and the whole gym smells of mildew, especially in the free weights area. Desperately needs a remodel- not on par with other locations.
Biggest (and easiest to fix, for management) negative is the extremely loud music they play over the sound system. I’ve requested that the staff on duty turn down the volume during various visits, with mixed results. No consistent difference here, though. I don’t mind music playing but when ~90% of the people using the gym have headphones in, don’t see why it should be at such a high volume. I can hear every word of the song lyrics with my own music turned up all the way. Not great for patrons’ hearing, and I’d love to see this change.

I have been coming to this gym off and on for years. I really won’t complain about the weight area because there is always room for improvement but they have a lot for such a small location. However, the area where the cardio equipment is has 3 or 4 tiny wall fans and those little β€œair pushers” are absolutely filthy. I want to be on the elliptical and treadmill for 2 hours and I don’t last because there is zero air circulating in that part of the gym. It is a very sad part of the gym and definitely needs attention. At least turn some A/C on or get some ceiling fans. If someone ever passes out here, it will be because of overheating.

The Zumba and Silver Sneakers Classic classes are awesome! Great location (very close to freeway entrance, next to various stores, pet clinic, & fast food). Low-key atmosphere to workout throughout the club. GX instructors and trainers take real good care of all the members - they listen and cater to their needs.

Really dirty floors, walls, and women's locker room. Women's sauna is pointless, there's a huge gap all around the door so there's a constant cool breeze blowing in. Staff is nice and it's not too busy.

Some of the trainers here are really nice and helpful. Unfortunately, the general manager, Aaron, is not. I had been going to this location when I came home from school during summers and winters, and always had maintained a month by month payment. This last time, I asked Aaron to put my account on hold per usual. I was then charged a $60 annual fee a few months later. I called the main customer service line and was told I might be able to get a refund. Then I received a very hostile call from Aaron, and when I explained about the refund he basically called me a liar. He also told me that putting my account on hold was a $10 a month charge that he had gotten me for free "as a favor". This was a blatant lie that I confirmed with the customer service line. I've dealt with him before and he is a very pushy salesman with no understanding of how to deal with customers and constantly fails to refrain from his condescending tones.
Update: I was reimbursed for the annual charge.

It’s small and basic but is the perfect place to get a workout in. As it is not too crowded, even though it does not have the full range of amenities that bigger gyms would have

Original: -4 months ago I asked to remove 2 members from my account as they never used it and it charged me $80 extra a month. They said they did but it never happens I came in again asking to remove them and the man at the desk said he did but just this morning I was charged again for them. They have no record of any past cancellation attempts or anything so I’m forced to still pay for it even though I came in and canceled twice. I came in today and nobody could help me all I could get was a bit to the manager asking them to call me tomorrow. Very frustrating -

Update: after some time I was able to straighten out my issue and was refunded the money I payed for unwillingly.

The gym is incredibly outdated -- a lot of the machines seem like they could either use a facelift, or could just be replaced altogether with the newest version. People don't always put away their cable machine accessories when they're changing them in the freeweight area. There's not a ton of squat racks and they're mixed in with the TRX cables, so if someone's using the squat rack it's a little too close to be able to use the TRX system comfortably next to them. The staff is somewhat friendly, I usually don't talk to them so I guess it doesn't matter.

However, I still like this location better than Northgate just purely because it always has parking available, and the amount of weight-slamming, skimpy tanktop wearing bros is miniscule compared to the Northgate location.

I would give 5 stars for the equipment only. They still need to work remodeling the locker rooms and restrooms. Also the places needs to be ventilated better. During busy hours it can start to stink.

The Good
Well equipped for a small/moderate sized gym. Very friendly front desk staff. Dumbbells go up to 135 lbs, they have 3 flat bench presses, 1 incline and 1 decline, 4 total squat racks, 2 Smith machines, and a variety of work benches, cable and weight machines

The front desk staff seems to have fast turn over, but all the people they hire are generally very friendly. I've never had a bad interaction with any of the staff.

Training
The personal trainer are pretty typical for a commercial gym Some of them seem really passionate, and their clients have great results, but others have their clients doing gimmick workouts and take their money. But this is normal for any gym of this type.

The Bad (edit)
Unfortunately in the past year, the upkeep at this location has fallen off considerably. I initially rated this gym a 4 stars, but I lowered it to 3 because the men's locker/bath room is longer being cleaning regularly or properly. I worked as a janitor all for over 5 years, so I feel bad for criticizing the cleaning crew, but the bathroom floors have gotten quite bad and the counters and sink need some attention as well. I believe they have an all female janitorial staff so they aren't able to clean the men's room as often as they should. The gym needs to hire some male janitors as well. The bathrooms are also poorly ventilated, they need some better fans in there.

There has also been a missing dumbell (100 lbs) for over 2 years now. They seem to have no interest in replacing it. They also got rid of one of the arm curl benches (a very popular piece of equipment), so now everyone has to share just one.

* POOR SERVICE UNPROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES! *
I am very dissatisfied with this locations customer service. Yesterday my husband and I decided to visit this location to begin our 10 day pass. I am new to using exercise equipment so my husband assisted by showing me how to use each machine properly so I would not hurt myself while attempting to reach my weight loss goals. For as the staff would say is insurance reasons they informed us him showing me how to use the equipment is okay but he is not allowed to train me since outside training is not allowed he would need to work out as well.
We started on the treadmill together then swapped places using the back pull down machine and other similar machines. In the middle of our session my husband was pulled aside and basically told he is not allowed to assist me with my work out that the actions he performed were indeed training. This was a bit much since we've gone over the same information with 3 different staff members (front desk, Lady assisting us with the tour and the gentleman calling my husband into the office). My husband profession is not a trainer, he just visited that location with his wife (we are a interracial couple) it is unfortunate that you cannot workout with someone else to meet your weight loss goal without the harassment of people accusing you of doing something wrong over and over again. We asked them to give our passes back and informed them they would see a bad review for their actions. We later on attended a different location in which we were not bothered at all until today when we were informed the Ballinger way location called the other location to inform them of the previous issues we had with them. We showed our marriage certificate to the manager and he assured us we would no longer be bothered. I would have refrained from giving a poor review had they not went out of there way to continue to harass us with their off base accusations.

i like this gym. It's a little dated, but it's rarely over crowded. It's a good spot for the non-novice to get in, lift weights, and go home. I don't normally like 24's but this one feels more like an out of the way YMCA gym from 1992 than a normal 24hour. My only complaint is it could use a mild face lift. Esp the bathrooms which seem to be 1981 mildew havens. I'd also paint the peeling walls/ceiling, and throw in more drinking fountains.

This gym appears to be the one 24 Hour Fitness location that rarely gets upgraded. There are occasional machine swap outs, but those normally happen as a result of catastrophic hardware failure. I imagine they don't own the building, so the incentive is low to do major improvements. If it weren't for the proximity I would go to Some of the other substantially better, cleaner, newer sites. It's too bad 24 Hour didn't try to put a gym somewhere near the Aurora Village center.

The classes are usually great, especially Body Combat.

They recently added a lot of new cardio machines and even tvs which is nice. But the place is often so dirty there and the space is so crowded with equipment. This is a Sport level gym - 24 Hour Fitness' basic level. It is a functional place to get in a good workout. Some of the machines are older but they are kept in good working condition. Is this a fancy gym? Definitely not. It is a good place to do some cardio or move some heavy weights around. There are regular group classes that are well attended.

I recently just moved to Washington and spent and a lot of time researching gym around my neighborhood and it seemed as if every gym was not getting the best reviews so I said "oh well I'll just go check it out" I'm not into crossfit or planet fitness and that seems to have only the best reviews anyway I walk in and automatically the staff at this gym were so friendly and so helpful offering me different options. Without hesitation I joined and did my tour and doing so I had to ask why the reviews were so bad? Then I realized now a days it's about presentation rather than what gyms were really meant to be for. What I mean is that who cares if there's no TVs, or fancy new equipment, or towel service? The gym is for getting in and getting out and hitting your goals. I guess it's just me but as long as there's functional equipment without rust or something crazy and the benches aren't ripped apart it shouldn't matter if it's brand new or not, it still works! Seems like gyms now a days are all about social hour and no judgement or who has the newest version of equipment. So what I'm saying is if you enjoy the simple things and using the gym as it should be used you will enjoy this gym. There's tons of equipment, the staff is wonderful, there's full mirrors, sauna, and even classes if you're into that. My only complaint is no wifi but they said they were working on that part. I hope this helps new residents or anyone who is looking for a gym because if I wouldn't have taken the chance I would probably still be looking for a gym.

I've been going to this gym for about 7 years now. Its never been anything impressive but for the most part I've enjoyed my experience there. Recently they added a new area with extra squat racks/dead lift station with pull up bars and TRX bands. In my opinion this vastly improved the gym since previously there were only 2 squat racks. Since they've added this new area they have started a class 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) that takes place near this equipment. They do not use the equipment, just the space around it. Recently they started closing off the area entirely for the class. I'm failing to see the logic in adding this awesome new equipment and then blocking it off from the people that want to use it. I mentioned this to the person at the front desk and instead of fielding the complaint or bringing it up their manager, they just told me to join the class instead. I left the gym early out of frustration and I may never go to this location again. Also the locker rooms smell like mildew, basically all the damn time.

I am still recovering from my sciatica nerve inflammation, while trying to visit this gym 3-4 times a week. As my routine, I usually spend around 45-50 minutes at the gym. β€œMeeting and greeting” staff (Max, Ashlie, Muna and others) are very friendly and with great smiles. There are always few personal trainers (Karen, Kevin and others) ready to help you. And James, administrator, is a big part of this picture. Though I do not take classes (as I used to) I am very happy working with the equipment at my poutine exercises.

I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for about 15 years. My wife and daughter are also members. I have a multi-club membership and this review is strictly regarding the Ballinger club. While it appears 24 hour has invested heavily in some new clubs...i.e Northgate they certainly are not re-investing in Ballinger. For months now the Precor Adaptive Motion Trainers have been in dis-repair. I have asked about this with the manager and he assured they would be serviced. Still not done and right now only 2 of the 4 are operational. There are plenty of older elliptical machines available but these have been there for years. I will say that a number of treadmills were replaced not to long ago but the Precor get a lot of use and are always busy during peak hours. The club really needs to bring new Precor AMT's in to deal with the demand and update equipment. For the most part all of the machines are varying stages of old. The free weight room also has a mix of really old and slightly old equipment. I don't mind this so much as weight is weight. The final thing that hacked me off recently is the club manager questioned me about training my daughter. Apparently I can train her if I am also working out but they frown upon me training her and not also working out. Seriously!!! I get that they don't want outside trainers working in the gym but for crying out loud are you really going to make an issue of a dad trying to train and teach his kid how to lift weights. 24 hour is very close to losing mine and my families business.

Outdated is an understatement. The roof leaks when it's not raining. The weights don't match and are rusting. Plus they are so cheap there aren't even paper towels in the bathroom. Avoid this place. Spend the time to drive to any other gym.
