I've been running with Tony for about 8 months now and ran 6 miles with no pain for the first time in years. I had chronic severe shin splints bordering on stress fractures. In addition I had a nagging hip injury from imprudent 1/2 marathon (not on Tony's watch!). I can't say enough about Tony's training philosophy and his expertise that got me here. He has decades of training all kinds of runners from the elite college athletes to the casual though determined runner like me. He has a nice balance of caution and encouragement. Some runs with Tony are painful and result in me exceeding both our expectations. Other runs are for recovery. All are personalized according to my own biomechanics and history. From choice of shoes to personalized workout calendars to group runs, running with Tony has been an awesome experience. If you're lucky enough to hire Tony as your coach, you will join the legion of his grateful clients.

Amazing and extremely knowledgeable - I started running with him after moving to Seattle about a year ago. I have been part of a number of running clubs in the past, but Tony is more like a real coach - he gives you a schedule, he follows up with you, he holds you accountable, all while making sure you are healthy and happy. Very happy to have joined his "family"!

Excellent coaching for all levels. Tailored for you. Time and care goes into an exercise program just for you and there are great groups to exercise with all over the area. Mountain runs are the best!

I have been a client, ambassador, and helper on and off over the last nine years. I know I would not be the athlete I am today if not for my experiences at Always Running. I have been a pretty avid runner over the last 9 years, but when I first started running I was avid but not smart. My emotions were completely tied to my workouts and because of my type A personality I had a hard time listening to my body and knowing when I needed to rest and knowing when I could go hard. Tony taught me many lessons over the years, but some of the most valuable to me were to take my emotions out of it and listen to my body. I hate missing a workout but now I have come to the point that if I am really tired and hurting I won’t push through the run. I will listen to my body and rest. Of course I am not perfect but now if I have a 20 miler on the calendar and I start the run and feel absolutely horrible I will stop the run and rest instead. I have learned that it is just not worth the risk of injury. For example, when I was training for Eugene marathon April 2011 I had my last 20 mile run planned for 3 weeks before the race. All of the sudden I woke up with horrible shin splints on both legs. I was so torn because I wanted to get that last long run in, but I remembered what Tony said about listening to your body and resting when needed, so I skipped the last run and got a massage instead. Three days later my shin splints were gone, and I ran Eugene and PR’d with a 3:27 qualifying me for Boston marathon. I know I could have gutted through that last long run with shin splints but where would I have been for my race? That was a chance that I did not want to take! That is just one of the many, many examples of great things that I learned from Always Running and Tony. Not to mention, that Always Running offers great supportive run, bikes, fun trips and more.

Tony has over 25 years of experience running at an elite level, but he is not pretentious about it. What I mean is, I have spent a lot of time racing in the running and triathlon community and a lot of time around different running and triathlon groups and I have noticed that many coaches (and most of them are tremendous athletes) make a lot of the training about themselves, and you wonder if they are coaching because they truly want their clients to succeeded or if they are coaching because they want to swim, bike and run so they can get better. Working with Tony and seeing him coach the clients there is no doubt in my mind that he truly cares about his clients. The workouts are never about him and always about his clients. You never feel like you are competing with the coach. Tony truly wants his clients to succeeded, whether they are training for their first 5K or trying to make the 2016 Olympics, or competing in Ironman he treats all clients the same and is equally invested in all of their success. I would recommended Always Running to anybody that wanted a great place to train, awesome running and biking routes that are fully supported (where are you going to get that, unless you plan to race every weekend) great one on one coaching , and much more. Stop by and you will feel the positive energy.
