The facility is clean and spacious, which I really appreciate. One suggestion would be to have a few chairs available in the basketball gym so players can comfortably change from slides or outdoor shoes into their basketball shoes. Many other YMCAs already have chairs set up along the side of the court. I also witnessed a staff member being unnecessarily rude to someone who simply took a chair from the supply closet to change. Since most players change in the gym to protect both their shoes and the floor, it would make sense to provide chairs for this purpose.

The front desk is not trustworthy. I submitted my membership cancellation in 03/2025. The membership team replied that they will no longer charge the fee. However they still did for April and May. So I stopped by this site and talked to the two stuffs in the front desk. They said they will create an internal ticket to make sure I am not charged anymore and give me refund. Apparently they lied to me, they did not created the ticket for me. No one contacted me and I am still being charged for June. The membership team stopped rely to my email.

It is a nightmare when you trying to cancel your membership.

I wish I could rate this Y higher because it's in such a great spot (and because the alternatives are so highly priced,) but wow, it just really needs some TLC. There's three primary issues: 1) Overall cleanliness 2) Overall equipment quality/disrepair, and 3) lap swimming schedule. 1) The Y is just generally *dirty.* Not messy, just has such a vibe of just grungy grossness. It doesn't need a tidyup, it needs *cleaning.* 2) So many machines are just out of full functionality, and the cardio room is *badly* lacking fans. The few fans that do exist are either broken or stuck one direction. Again, it just is in desperate need of repair top to bottom. And lastly, the lap swimming times are just brutal for adults who work normal hours. I get it that it's a small pool and the importance of prioritizing the (likely higher) number of people who want free / kid swim, but if you work normal hours and want to lap swim before or after, it's really tough.

Edit: Literally *every single fan* in the cardo room has been broken in some way or another for most of the last *year*. Front desk says maintinence is 'aware.' Nothing changes. Come on.

Update March 2025: After 3 months of emailing them trying to get them to fix the fans, they've emailed to let me know that they've confirmed all the fans are working. They are not. I've sent them an updated video showing this. Why. Is. This. So. Hard. The hours and location and pool are the *only* reasons I don't cancel and go anywhere else.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional service and treatment my fiancΓ© and I have received at your facility. From the very first day we walked in, we have been treated with nothing but respect, kindness, and friendly service. In fact, I can confidently say that your YMCA, along with the McGriffin YMCA, has been the most welcoming and inclusive environment we've experienced. I would like to extend a special thank you to the director, who has been an absolute pleasure to interact with. His patience, understanding, and commitment to treating everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity, is truly inspiring. He goes above and beyond to ensure that every member feels valued and supported, and we, as customer members, strive to reciprocate that respect and kindness. My fiancΓ© and I are deeply grateful for the outstanding service and care we've received at the Bellevue Family YMCA. We feel seen, heard, and appreciated, and we couldn't be more thankful. As a small token of our appreciation, we would like to bring in doughnuts and lunch for the staff to enjoy. It's a small gesture, but we hope it conveys our sincere gratitude for all that you do.
To the director, manager, and entire staff team, we want to say THANK YOU for being an amazing team! You all are doing a fantastic job, and we're so grateful to be a part of the Bellevue Family YMCA community. God bless you all, and keep up the fantastic work keeping members of customers happy with a clean environment!😊 πŸ˜€

My daughter attended a YMCA cooking class this week. The director & teachers were very friendly and they had had everything prepared very well. The kids took home a cute mug (they made mug cake). But for the price of the class I didn't feel it lived up to my daughter or my expectations in quality or duration.

Room for improvement:

- Write what they are going to make ahead of time in the class description.

- Add important information in the email confirmation (a parent needs to be present/at the premise & exact time check-in starts)

- Add the age group the class it is intended for. This particular class was for preschool - kindergartners. My daughter is soon to be a second grader. The activity was too basic and she was surrounded by parents and younger children. She had looked forward meeting children her age.

- Duration of the activity - the "cooking" was too short and there was too much free play. Again, if the class description had mentioned age group this is perfect for younger children but not older than 6. The price is hefty for a light weight activity such as this.

We will be taking cooking classes elsewhere next time.

This message is to management ,I think you are not running the free services ,parents are having the right to know the updated information about the closing hours due to any occasion/issues , website will not have the updated information and to get information from bellevue location via phone will take decades of time .If going to bellevue ymca based on website information ,front desk will say sorry we are closed or the pool will closed 30mins before the actual hours but website will have different timing which is misleading the parents .

Very happy to be part of Y family. I specially love their Bolly classes. Their swim lessons are okay for toddlers. Not great but they learn something. I love the variety- yoga, Zumba, bollyx, strong nation, rpm classes to name a few. I like to majorly spend time there in winters which helps.

Clean and spacious facility. One suggestion would be to have a few chairs out in the basketball gym, so basketball players can change comfortably from their slides/outdoor sneakers into their basketball shoes. All the other YMCAs have some chairs set up along the side of the court. Witnessed a staff member that was rude to a guy for taking a chair out of the supply closet that he was just going to use to change into his basketball attire. Most basketball players change into their shoes in the gym to protect their basketball shoes as well as the gym floor so it would make logical sense to have some chairs out for the players.

I went for pickle ball session on Sunday. There were basketball players hanging around and practising while we were playing. There shouldn't be any other players apart from dedicated pickleball players as it is not easy to focus when they are banging their balls lound. Front dask is responsible to enforce the rule if it is not an open gym period. The same way, we don't go and practice pickleball during basket ball session.

On the day I was supposed to have my adult teen swimming class, the instructor was absent and they still charged me for it. The other instructor that was teaching an adult class just told me to do laps when I could’ve have done laps after class because they have it open after 11:50pm. I did complain at front desk but they said that we should complain to the manager but, she was not there. We then came back a week later to see if she was there but she wasn’t. The front desk just told to email the manager so she can get back to us. When we emailed she did reply saying that they cannot refund the money because I went into the pool. I would not recommend going here because they would take your money. When I’m absent they still charge me and when the instructor is absent they still charge me.

Bellevue's ymc is really excessive, because the whole family can go swimming only at 5:30pm on Friday, which is understandable. There were a lot of people there, and they were very, very angry that the lifeguard actually slept there, and he almost closed his eyes for an hour when we were there. They were really angry. I went to call him, he did not have any reaction, black hair, fat, short, for several weeks are he, all closed eyes,

This is unfortunately one of those gyms where after you submit an intent to cancel your membership, they will continue to charge your account until you follow up and they really close it out. I had an easier time cancelling both 24 hour and LA fitness.

My original cancellation was submitted on Oct 2022. I have a confirmation email showing this. However, it was never followed up on.

Fast forward to Mar 2023, and I finally notice the account is still active. I submitted a follow up to the cancellation which was actually processed.

It’s a dishonest business practice. Very disappointed.

Three employees just standing around with nothing to do at the kids zone. No your daughter cannot stay here cause she turned 10 years old 2 days ago. And you need to accompany her through the facility, oh and she’s too young to be in the weight room. So now I effectively cannot use the weight room. She’s too young to be unsupervised so why can’t she go to the supervised area that she was asking to go?

The group lesson swim instructors are pretty clueless and the swim lessons are entirely useless. Enroll at your own peril!

Update Nov 7 2022: I suspected that this place was racist based on many prior interactions here, but didn't give it much thought. But an incident today confirmed it for me. I think this place employs white people who have not yet learnt to hide their inherent racism. Bellevue has a reputation for being a fairly racist city, but the multiple occasions on which it was blatantly on display at this Y surprised me.

The swim lessons are a joke. First of all, the instructors changed multiple times in first month so my child was unable to develop trust.

Secondly, the instructors are not invested in their students at all. I saw him let my kid kick with knees bent and didn't bother correcting.

The instructors are just running through the motions. I was monitoring my own child as well as others and can say that not one kid has progressed in the 2 months we have been coming here. This place is a waste of time and money.

Terrible Customer Service compared to all the other local YMCAs. I have been treated very poorly and discriminated against by employees. Not what I've come to expect from YMCAs.

Review is for toddler/preschool swim lessons. Shallow end of the pool is 4 ft deep which is unsafe for a 3 year who can’t swim especially with the ratio of instructor to child they maintain. My 3 year slid in and went under not realizing how deep it was and nobody noticed except my husband. He was fortunately able to pull her out but I can’t imagine taking her back without a life vest.

Yes Yes Yes, this GYM is awesome. Swimming pool, free towels to use for showering, there is a basketball court, great Cardio room and possibly the biggest Sauna in Washington state, three levels.

Probably one of the more expensive Gym Memberships I think it's around $81 a month for Adults if you don't have a discount, but it's worth it.

Whatever you do, don't go to Planet Fitness, that is where hopeful fitness Enthusiasts go to die.

Facility is certainly a top notch. I recently subscribed family membership. I take my 13 years old for swimming. Both she and I use cardio room for workout. However, this particular life guard at the swimming pool and the weekdays swimming instructor trying to intimidate me. It happened twice in the row. When I took my daughter for lap swimming first time, I saw instruction on the wall that you may take pictures with the permission of the life guard. I asked one of the life guard that if I can record my daughter's lap swimming. She said that it is fine. Within a few minutes, the day time swimming instructor came and stopped me recording my daughter swimming. Second week, my daughter and I were using cardio room. I wanted to use rest room. Since I am new to this place, and the only rest rooms I am familiar are next to the pool. I went and used the rest room and when I was coming out of the rest room, the same life guard and weekday swimming instructor, told me that I am not supposed come and use the rest room next to swimming pool. I told her that I am new member and I do not know all the rest rooms in the building and I do not see any sign that I cannot use those rest rooms. The staff at the front desk spoke to me after that and told me nothing wrong with using those rest rooms and they will find out why they were telling me not to use the rest rooms. I have a strange feeling that particular life guard and the weekday swimming instructor is targeting me and my daughter for some strange reason. I am concerned about their attitude and behavior towards us.

I don’t know whether it’s due to the irresponsibility of the clients (average age in the aerobic center is at least 75) or lack of care from the staff, but the men’s locker room tends to be filthy with many towels left behind, washcloths scattered on the floor of the showers, dirt and grit on the floor. The equipment is OK and the staff are polite but not nearly as welcoming as those in neighboring YMCAs such as Sammamish and coal Creek.

This is a horrible YMCA. I had to leave Denver for an ongoing medical emergency in my family. I spoke with Heather who is apparently some kind of manager and she said the Bellevue Y doesn’t honor outside membership transfers. This information was after I went into the Y and spoke with their poorly trained front desk staff who lost my paperwork, didn’t relay correct information to heather. When I finally reached her by phone she said she heard something about my request but she didn’t follow up and contact me. She must not have been that motivated.
When I spoke with her she said that site will not reciprocate memberships like the rest of the country does.
I’ll go somewhere else that has a better facility as this Y is run down. The staff are clueless and the mgmt don’t care.
For anyone thinking about the Y there are wonderful sites out there. This one is an example of the other end of the spectrum. Hopefully they’ll run themselves out of business.

Ymca family Bellevue has best and biggest Sauna in the entire state, three levels and just the right temperature hot but not too hot.

Great towel service unlike 24 hour fitness, which does not provide towels, you get free ones to use at Ymca but have to pay for ones at 34 hour fitness, which also has disgusting bathrooms and showers with hair everywhere, absolutely repulsive. I almost got a membership at 24 hour fitness.

I’m glad I didn’t. 24 hour fitness is going downhill, they will charge you after you cancel, are extremely rude, terrible customer service, according to the reviews I have read.

I never have an issue getting on a machine, the hot tub is great never crowded, bathrooms and showers are always clean when I go. Basketball court is a plus as well as pickle ball at some locations.

Friendly staff, no complaints.

One day they blame my son that " he hit 7 kids until they cried". Instead of making my son a bad guy they should've gather all of the 7 kids and listen to their

They were polite about it, our son in law was polite back. But the accusation is pathetic. Of course they looked like drills, that's why they were there, & we thought that was why the YMCA was here. This YMCA has something for everyone. Lots of exercising, equipment for fitness, swimming, activities for Seniors, and well run programs for kids.

Come into the YMCA and speak to a Representative on how to become a member. There is no worries if you and your spouse want to exercise abd get fit. Your kids will be taken care of while You are getting fit. It's that simple.
