Okay gym. Clean workout area! The men’s locker room is really dirty and the smell is awful!! No way I would step foot in the shower stalls!!! Very dirty carpet and lockers need repairs.

Great value gym, especially if you sign up as a new member. Equipment is older, and general cleanliness has been great. Every day i see their maintenance person working hard to keep it clean. Some bigger cleaning projects like shower ceilings are getting tackled now, perhaps thanks to new management (Congrats once again Sarah). I've even gone barefoot in showers and have been fine btw.

Re towels, I've seen them run out ONCE. Very thankful for the plentiful supply of complimentary towels for wiping down equipment and shower towels. Should they ever run out again due to issues beyond their control, I suppose one could simply buy a $2 towel especially if you're concerned about covid :)

The locker room vent on the ceiling and the locker room floor are disgusting. Some of the weight machines are getting worn out. Lack of lubrication.

My experience at City Gym was very positive as I only attended the senior classes which abruptly ended when Patti Douglas was terminated. A few of us went to talk to the manager who was clearly not interested in what anyone had to say. He kept pointing to the door to usher us out. Clearly extremely poor customer service. Unfortunately this will hurt the gym the most. I think he is the one who should have been asked to leave. Makes me very sad.

Descent gym for the price. Most of the machines and cardio equipment are older. There are no tv screens on the cardio machines. There is usually no waiting on equipment as there are a lower number of members. Clean locker rooms with showers. They do provide small towels and cleaning spray for you to wipe down mach8nes between usages. Sauna on-site as well as tanning for extra cost. Most of the members are elderly. There is a subway downstairs, and you can regularly smell the fresh bread cooking, which may be a bit of a distraction if you are dieting. They usually have a really good yearly rate you can get if you are a new member.

I was forced out of this gym with no refund of the membership I paid a year in advanced. This place has no business in the gym industry. The manager and owner should have this business revoked. I could never say enough bad things about this place.

The manager "William" is either sitting behind the counter with headphones in head burred in his cellphone or walking his dog outside. He also brings the dog inside with him when he's "working". I like dogs so thats not a big deal just not professional. He is very rude and self entitled. He got very upset when I posted about no one showing up to open the gym on a Saturday (2.5 hours after opening time). He stated it has only happened 6 times in the last 6 months.... So once a month you might be out of luck. The mens bathroom is very nasty. Like toilets clogged for DAYS and broken metal pieces on the shower floor. There is tape on frayed cables with wire sticking out. The same free weights were loose for months until I asked for a wrench to tighten them (which was behind the counter). Birds living in the ceiling on the right-side of the weight room (I always wondered what the wet white spots were on the floor) bird poop... And yes the roof leaks when it rains. When I started going there there was a sketchy guy basically living in the restroom (eating, sleeping and making calls all day). When reported to the manager the response was "I have enough going on." I went there for 10 years pre covid and LOVED it. Things have gotten really gross and completely unmaintained. I highly encourage upper management to do random checks. It's a real shame.

I was in Bellingham for a few days and needed to do my PT exercises following total knee replacement surgery. I was able to work out here with my Silver Sneakers membership. Was able to do most of the things I needed to do with a bit of creativity. I went on a Thursday, mid-morning, and there were a few people working out but I had no problem doing what I needed to do. The gal at the front desk was very accomodating.

This place has started going down hill. There’s a reason their rates are so much cheap than all other gyms in town. The owner just doesn’t care. These pictures are from April 24, 2023. If they’re not willing to spend $50 on touch up paint and hand grips for the machines, what will they do when machines need replacement? And no one seems to notice the board by the men’s locker room has dates from 5 months ago

I love this gym but the new online Wellyx sign in thing is dumb and I hate it. Can we please just go back to scanning our cards? Also they allow minors to workout here and most of them are obnoxious. This gym should be adults only space.

I have been a member at this gym for three years. The best gym is the one you will use, and for me this gym's location and hours are very convenient. If you join during a sale the cost is about $200 for a year. For your $4/ week you get access to yoga (Sarah is great), cycling and other fitness classes, a good range of equipment and free weights and a diverse and friendly clientele. Worth every penny, you can find fancier clubs, but for me this one is perfect.

HOT. When it's hot outside it's hot in the workout room. I felt like passing out when I was on the bike yesterday. They have AC, but it wasn't installed effectively, so the change room/shower area is cold and the main workout room is hot. The opposite of comfortable. Sorry, City Gym - I know how ridiculously expensive AC work is here nowadays. I've had to do it, myself, and the HVAC companies are charging criminal prices to businesses. So, I sympathize. However, I joined your gym because my garage gym is too hot.

Your website advertises a "5 day trial guest pass". But when I went there to try it out, the employee told me, "Oh, the website is really old. We don't have free trials." I felt bad for that employee. That's an uncomfortable situation to put your front desk staff in. She was very nice, which was one reason why I went ahead and signed up, despite the false advertising. (BTW, I can update your website for you. I'll do it for free.) This was the second gym I went to that had advertised a free trial that was bogus. The other was Anytime Fitness in Ferndale. OTOH, Bellingham Athletic Club WILL give you a free trial).

Two of the staff, young women, that have been working there at City Gym are very nice. The guy, though, could use a seminar in customer service. I worked in a gym a long time ago, and the owners made us learn every customer's name. That is "overboard", I know, especially nowadays. But, it actually did make the job enjoyable. I don't really care, though, that the guy isn't very friendly. That's okay. But I hope the ladies who are nice to customers get rewarded for their pleasantness.

Also, I wish there were more classes. (That also needs updating on your website.) I wanted to do "Dance with Patitude", but that was old information, too, and isn't offered. I'd have been happy with one aerobics or dance class per week (that wasn't for seniors.) I think it's nice, though, that you cater to seniors - I'd rather work out around seniors than a bunch of meatheads who drop weights. So, that's good. And I am very glad that yoga is offered. At least there's that. Because of the yoga and the 2 nice young women who work at the front desk, I'm giving 2 stars (as opposed to 1).

I'll increase my rating if the temperature issue gets fixed.

Paid for a 1 week pass, because I was traveling to Bellingham for work, then got told on Day 2 that my pass was only good for one day. I train every day from 5-7am. I told the front desk worker exactly what dates I would be there when I paid for the pass when I bought it, and double-checked check-in procedures before I left, so there was no mistake. He told me a manager would call me, which never happened. He seemed like one of the most apathetic gym employees I’ve ever run into in my travels.

Other than that, the equipment is a bit dated, but they pretty much have everything you need. Gym members, at least in the early morning, seem respectful and rerack their weights. With a few changes, this gym could be amazing.

This gym is not open for the hours that I signed up for and they cannot say when they will get around to being open for the normal business hours- even AFTER the dates of state openings. It’s cheap for a reason- they are open as they feel like it because it’s all been prepaid. If you want to know their hours and updates, you have to have Facebook or call and hope someone answers the phone.

Run of the mill corporate meat market gym. Trainers and front desk are incompetent. Sales team is worse than a used car lot. Signed up for one month and hated it. I cancelled my membership and then got a bill for 3 times the amount in late fees. They kept calling for a year trying to get me to sign up. Vert dirty and unsanitary.

I like this gym, but a big reason I signed up there was the Sauna. On a good day it might be as hot as 140 degrees on the top rack with a theometer almost to the ceiling. Average Saunas I’ve been to range between 158 and 212 degrees Fahrenheit. I’ve talked to many members that feel the same way, and I have complained on several occasions with no results. I’ll update this review if they ever update the temperature.

Source: Google

The sauna has been broke for months, possibly a year, and they have not fixed it. It is the only reason I renewed my membership to the gym, as I have a severe back injury and cannot workout. Would be nice to see them actually fix it instead of letting it stay broke for as long as they have. Lack of initiative it seems ever since Efrem left.

Brit was the one at the door.I drove from Blaine to look at their guy so I was a guest and she was awful. Their was no one at thcpunt and she wouldn't even get off her computer for 2 seconds to show me the gym... Extremly poor service...why does someone have so much money invested in their business and hire people who could care less...I complained to her on the phone just after I was there and she could care less... Busy on FB.... The gym itself seem to have lots of weights no pool though and it 50 bucks a month kind of high for what ypur getting...I don't know maybe if your a mamber they treat you different who know or it could just be possibly that employee its hard to tell.

This place is perfect for me. It's not crowded (I usually go weekday mornings), a good variety of machines which are all in good condition, not noisy. It seems to cater to an older crowd (including me), but it could be different outside work hours. I see a few younger folk there who appear to be serious about exercise. It doesn't have the ambiance of a Gold's Gym, which is great by me.

Neighbors who attend classes there speak highly of them.

I really like the towel service the gym provides. The locker room and showers are clean. Odd that they don't provide soap or shampoo, though.

Free wifi. TVs usually have the volume turned off (yeah!).

Good gym. Worked out on my way through town.. Stayed for a week in Bellingham and City Gym has everything you need to get a great workout. It also has ample fitness classes. People are friendly. Locker rooms are very clean. Equipment is in excellent condition. The Gym is accessed out in back of the building, and though it is not a massive gym, it is a decent size and has all but a few of the machines I tend to favor using. If you don't like the 'massive' / impersonal type gym with lots of meatheads, then this gym will likely suit your fancy. No meatheads here. Just normal, nice, people who seem to work hard at keeping in good shape. I'll go back and train again some time.

The staff is courteous, friendly and helpful and the trainers and teachers are all certified which I never found at any other gym in town. They know what they are talking about and are always happy to help.

And, I like how they don't have any hidden fees or try to lock you into contracts like all the other gyms in Bellingham.
