Love this gym! Just wish my 23yr old could still qualify on our family membership (age out, even if a student).

I went to inquire about adult swimming lessons. They mentioned that they have a 1 year long waitlist. However, in order to get on the waitlist, one has to be a member. I'm not paying a membership just to be on a waiting list.

Great club, good classes and trainers.
I recommend the club highly. I went to the aquatic class today taught by Phillip, great class.

I've been a member for several years and love this club. If you have young kids, you won't find a better kids club & kids activities than what Columbia offers.

The pool, though often busy, is one of the best in the area; the staff members have been nothing but kind. But for $153 a month / $240 a couple, I don't know, maybe replace the shower curtains when they start to look like this? Not asking for a complete renovation here, but these little details can make a huge difference. Hoping it gets better.

Just signed up and already off to a rough start. I came in 30 minutes before closing to use the hot tub and steam roomβwell within the hours Iβm paying for. Instead, I was met with attitude from both the front desk and the lifeguard, basically telling me the gym was closing as if I shouldnβt be there. To make it worse, by the time I got downstairs, the steam room was already locked. Super inconvenient. Amenities should be available until close, not shut down early. Not impressed with this type of service.

Excellent facility with great pool, sauna and steam room. Broken equipment is replaced within days. Provided towels are a nice plus. Staff is friendly and helpful. It gets a little crowded in the locker room during peak times but normally itβs pretty sparse. Fellow members are easy going. Even friendly (!). Hours are great. Weβre really happy here.

Very expensive at ~270 a month for a couple, and the bathrooms/showers/locker rooms have poor ventilation and smells and are generally in a bad state. For ProClub prices you get 24 hour fitness bathrooms.
They really need to modernize the club.
Exercise equipment is well maintained and usually not full. Classes are nice and included in the price.

former longtime member. by the time we left, we were paying $230 a month for our family. this is outrageously expensive. the equipment is adequate, the space is a little small; this is basically a glorified YMCA. now we're going to LA fitness which offers similar experience for 4x less cost. over the years, they keep increasing the price, but our experience got worse. try to find parking or even a locker during busy times. the locker rooms are messy and crowded and dirty. they can't keep the moisturizer bottles full. what used to make it worth it -- the pool and sauna -- i can't access anymore because the swim lanes are full and so is the sauna bench. the staff are generally okay, but the woman at the front desk - Jody -- is quite unpleasant and needs to go. actually, unpleasant isn't the right word - she's just a downright nasty person and i don't understand why the gym continues to employ her. but read the other reviews -- sounds like management regularly keeps on bad employees

Great facility with lots of amenities and very clean, but not a weight lifter's gym. Also, very expensive at $240 a month for two of us, and that's with a corporate discount.
I will say that my husband and I love the convenience and closeness of this facility to our home. The staff are all really nice and friendly. Great indoor saltwater pool and newly renovated steam room, sauna and hot tub in the adult only area.
The one drawback to this gym is the limited amount of weight equipment. There is only one hamstring machine, for example. At least it's all new equipment and as far as machines go, they are great. But if you want a good selection of weight lifting equipment, Gold's or even Planet fitness are better
I would love to see the rooms that are almost never used, like the TRX and "pilates" room used for more weight equipment. There isn't much else they can do to remedy it because they already have as much equipment crammed in as they can, other than repurpose those other fairly unused rooms.
For most people, the equipment will suffice, but if you are looking for a large weight room, this is not your best choice.

We have been long time members of the club, however, we just recently had an experience with one of the swim instructors who was verbally abusive towards our young child during her swim lessons in the pool, which resulted in us making the decision to terminate our membership. The management did nothing about this, they actually defended this instructor because they have been there for years.

This club is awful. They have a bully trainer by the name of Bruce who yelled at my kid because I guess he thought he owned the impact studio. My son feared him, and he menacingly glared at me every time I came there. My girlfriend quit because he threatened her to her face and said that I shouldn't come there on Thursdays when he works. This is something out of a Hollywood movie. The manager Cody protects him because he is a top trainer there. I have never seen a more sophomoric place. Beware of this place!!

My girlfriend (who is no longer a trainer there) and I were harassed by a member of the training staff. This gentleman acted as I'd he owned the impact studio portion of the gym. This harassment continued for months where as a member of the club, my son and I didn't feel safe there. I have never been treated like this ever. The manager; Cody, took no action and tried to make it out to be our fault. This is an old boys club, beware!

Is this facility planning to accept join Medicare Advantage Silver Sneakers programs for all or part of the dues? It sounds like a great facility, but having a Silver Sneakers option would be great. Working with insurance is part of customer service for joining a club.

A nice gym in general - clean, always has availability, the staffs are nice.
But the swim lessons are clearly not organized very well. We booked some sessions but due to that we got covid and we missed several sessions (for missed sessions, we always communicated in advance), we got canceled the entire left sessions without any notifications - the other day we arrived at gym for class, our instructor told us she was else booked at this time, so we just ended up wasting our time and feeling embarrassed.
Since they already developed a mobile app for scheduling swim pool lanes, I really suggest to move class schedule also to it, or at least to some website. Today it is completely managed by email, which is inefficient and error-prone in communication.

Update:
The management got back to us timely on the issue described below. We did get the price that we were promised initially. Would take half a star off for that, if was possible.
As per gym itself, it is the best option for those who enjoy swimming. The pool is quite large. The gym is clean. There is a number of membership options. Overall it is great for water loving couples and families.
I bought a flex pass, but I might upgrade after a while, because flex pass pretty much means that you have access to no classes, unless you are available during the day on weekday.
Original Post:
Membership services leave much to be desired. My husband and I walked in and were told that as Amazon employees we had discounted initiation fee on the flex time membership. We did the trial came back to sign up, turns out the Amazon discount only works for regular membership and were asked to pay $50 more than initially promised.

I have been a constant (Pool use) member since July 2020. CAC has really ensured during COVID masking, daily cleaning, as well as having knowledgeable friendly pool staff for any needs. I have lost a considerable amount of weight in a slow safe manner. This is a positive environment and I am excited to begin my personal training journey with CAC as well to lose my last stubborn pounds! Thank you CAC!

I've been a member at CAC for a few years now, attending 3-5 times per week. Really a terrific find for the location and price. Lots of regulars who, for the most part, keep to themselves. Spread of ages and gender in attendence run the full gamut, which is refreshing, and I rarely have to wait to use anything at any time of the day. Staff is, for the most part, friendly and encouraging. Really feels like a part of the neighborhood and I'm glad to be a part of the community there. I don't use the pool so can't speak to that.
I'd easily rate five stars if they'd invest a bit more in their equipment. Sure, everything gets the job done, but fitness equipment has really evolved and I don't feel CAC has kept up, and it's not infrequent that I find a piece of equipment worn out to an extent that it affects my workout.

Best gym ever! I almost went with la fitness but after being treated so horrificly by two very aggressive people at la fitness who spent an HOUR trying to aggress me into signing with them when I was there on there free trial just to check the place out, they were trying to force me to pay and join before even allowing me to set foot in the gym and make me feel horrible trapped and cornered- right as I was about to still go with them thinking they were the only local pool option, I found this place. It has TWO POOLS and TWO hot tubs! And Iβm sad to see a couple comments of people having issues with sales employees here and even more disturbed one said there considering la fitness over that, those people are beyond aggressive and manipulative in a very inappropriate manner vs the people at this gym, and the other just gave me a bad vibe and the comments show thereβs been violent issues over there and staff didnβt even care.
If your looking for a safer friendlier environment with better stuff and a luxury hot tub, sauna and steam room and even cheap hydro massages ($5 a session atm!) come here instead.
Im disabled and the pools the only way I can exercise with less pain, this is a much better option and worth the little price increase even though Iβm very low income. Im glad I went with this gym instead of feeling aggressors unsafe and unwelcome at la Fitness. The pool was crowded and its got huge glass walls with people parking out front of it, so everyone can see into the pool area outside which made me more uncomfortable. They didnβt even care I was disabled and having trouble figuring out there gym looking for where to go to get into the pool room from the locker room and a towel and were extremely rude after they realized I needed to check there gym out before dropping almost $300 in bs fees! This gym I joined for only $90 at the time.. La fitness just ignored me afterwards and didnβt give me a tour or anything, this gym a nice lady working there took about 15-20min showing me around and thereβs a slow but working lift there for disabled people that she rode with me and showed me around everywhere. She wasnβt aggressive with trying to sign me up either and not manipulative or hostile like la fitness and unlike them didnβt use a second employee to try to duel aggress me into signing over trying to use there own 4 day free trial to legitimately check there gym out.
Long story short I highly recommend this gym over la fitness if you want to have a nicer experience and feel like your welcome and not trash if your even hesitant to sign the millisecond you walk in.

I joined the Columbia Athletic Club in Kirkland in 1998. I had been running daily for a number of years prior to that but decided I needed a more balanced fitness program.
The facility is very well managed, clean and all the equipment is high quality and up-to-date. The management and staff is friendly and very professional. The trainers and instructors are all first class.
Available fitness activities include extensive weight training, cardio equipment, a new impact-training studio, group exercises and gravity & cycle studios. There is an aquatic center with a lap pool, family pool and hot tub. It also has a basketball gym, squash courts, a dry sauna and steam room.
There is variety of personal and small group training.
Youth activities include camps, sports classes, fitness training and a Kids Club.
I did not join for any social reasons but over the years have made many friends.
I highly recommend the Columbia Club. A five star facility deserves a five star rating *****

Read great reviews and made a decision to join the club with my family.
Walked in with my wife and 2 kids ready to start first day 5/10/2018 evening.
On enetering the club only the guys in the front desk were available. We were told the membership team was taking a client for a tour. Decided to wait. Almost an hour, asking the guys in front desk if still no one was available they told us, "just know its expensive. No one is availble but even if they come just know it's expensive and the people who come here are Microsoft employees and other big companies that at for their employees"
We loved the pitch. People can see bank account details, credit score and employer right when you they see your skin color or look at your dressing. Probably he wanted to say we don't host homeless people here. I know he might not represent the whole club but that experience was not worth putting my kids through another minute. I appreciated the info he gave us and we walked out. We know we will find a club where they don't judge your ability to pay by the skin color or dressing or at least that doesn't have that guy giving out towels.

Fantastic experience with the salt water pools here! Blessed to be able to bring my cousin here for water therapy. They have a lift making it accessible for him, his physical therapist, and family members to get him into the water. They keep the pool at 96 degrees or warmer so it's great for anyone dealing with aches and pains. As a prior member, after his injury, he was happy to come back and see the staff again. We'll be back soon and would definitely recommend the facilities to others.

Walking into CAC (as they call it) is like walking into a time machine. 40 years ago in 1976 my parents took me to a club called "Racquetball World" and this is the exact same club and they have done zero improvements. This place is WORN OUT and DIRTY. FAMILIES BEWARE, about the only good thing this place has is the pool, but don't try to use it with your kids. The pool is ALWAYS CLOSED to free swimming for private lessons. I pay OVER $300 dollars a month to use the pool a few times a month. I would drop off the kids to the childcare and workout but the CHILDCARE ROOM IS HORRIBLE. There is one good worker there "Mrs. Pickles" but if she is not on duty your child will be left with a 19 year old kid from Russia who hates being there and wants to let your child watch videos on his laptop I'm not kidding. Oh yeah, and that's not included you have to pay for the kids of all ages being stuffed in one room so maybe your infant will get stepped on by a 12 year old or maybe not please enjoy your workout. The split level low ceiling gym, Oh My God. This place was an office building it has a 8 foot drop ceiling it is the most uninspiring gym ever, and the locker rooms are abysmal. There are 3 tiny shower stalls, 2 toilet stalls, the bathrooms can support a half this size but I get it, Washington has the worst gyms except for the more recently built corporate gyms, Golds Gym in Kirkland even more horrible bathroom at least they have a good Gym. But back to Columbia Athletic Club in Kirkland. Family Membership over 300 dollars per month, unusable childcare, pool is constantly blocked by private lessons during peak hours (Evenings and Weekends) and the lifeguards are Gestapo Child Police and the chemicals in the water are all over the charts, one day they'll be fine and the next day the chemicals are so strong you can barely breath and your eyes will sting an entire evening after swimming there even with goggles. The racquetball and squash courts are in such horrible disrepair the walls are marred with 30 years of ball markings and the hardwood don't meet the walls, big dusty gaps between the floors and walls. I hope this review helps free up some parking because during peak hours you may not be able to park your car. Again, very sympathetic to members because there is little choice for a family gym in Washington but trust me - THIS IS NOT A FAMILY GYM. They dress it up like that but it's family hostile.

Nice community athletic club with adequate equipment and space. Not difficult to get a workout in during peak times either. Small basketball court (still two hoops) and many other rooms/courts to complete workouts if more space is needed. A little pricey, especially for an individual membership...

I love:
1) never having to fight for equipment
2) a group exercise room that's available anytime a class isn't in session
3) cool temperatures that keep sweat to a minimum
4) that once the front desk staff know you well, you don't have to show them your card
5) towel service and water available in multiple places
6) Julie, the Pilates and spin instructor
7) a steam room that smells like eucalyptus and a remodeled sauna
8) that the people who go here are genuinely friendly and will give you advice or tips if you ask!
9) Sheridan and Nick at the front desk--they're the best
