My coach (coach cynthya or cinthia. idfc how you spell her name) kept on calling me tall no matter how much i tried telling her that it was harming me. Because of her, I became really insecure about my height and I always found myself cutting myself whenever I came home from gymnastics

Went to open gym on a Saturday and I get there and the lady says, “open gym for adults is only on Monday’s.” Well, would have been nice to have that listed on the website before coming all the way out to Redmond from Capitol Hill (I’m just visiting and spent $70 on the Uber, each way 🙄). Couldn’t even get to actually review the gym because of their poor website. Would not go again.

My daughter is now in the xcel program at ECGA. She started with the gym at age 3 ( now 11)and has loved it ever since! She has had several of the coaches that are still on staff throughout her years. It’s pretty impressive to find staff that sticks around these days. They offer a variety of classes based on the skill level of your child & make being strong fun!

We absolutely love this gym! The coaches are amazing, and the families here are so friendly and supportive. Our son has been on the competitive team for three years now, and we have been continually impressed by the dedication and expertise of the coaches.
A special shoutout to Coach Sveta, who has been more than just a coach to us. She has supported our son and our family in so many ways, truly becoming a game changer in our journey at ECGA. Her guidance and encouragement have made a significant impact on our son's development and our overall experience.
We highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a positive and nurturing environment for their children.

We were introduced to the gym with my elder child and now the fourth child is part of the competitive team. The coaches are very professional, caring and truly amazing with the kids. They see every one of them and encourage them to do their best. We trust them completely and our kids loved and still love this sport thanks to them. Thank you for that!

My daughter has been attending ECGA for the past seven years since Mommy and me classes, and our experience has been nothing short of excellent. The coaching staff is incredibly skilled and prioritizes safety, which is crucial in a sport that can quickly go from fun to unsafe. The coaches pay attention to detail and keep the kids engaged and motivated. I have always felt confident in the care and instruction provided, and my daughter has thrived in this supportive environment. Highly recommend ECGA for anyone looking for gymnastics coaching!

Being part of Emerald City Gymnastics has truly been a blessing . As the parent of a child on the competitive team, I have watched my daughter grow not only as a gymnast but as a person with more confident, disciplined and proud of the hard work she puts in every day.
The sense of community here is something special. From the supportive team atmosphere to the team friendships that have formed along the way, this place is more than just a gym. The facility is clean, well-equipped and designed to support serious training while still maintaining a positive, encouraging environment.
The coaches have been a steady, inspiring presence. Their passion, care, and dedication shine through in everything they do. They see each gymnast as a whole person and that makes all the difference.
And most importantly, ECGA has brought so much into my own life ,lifelong friendships, shared laughter, and a deep sense of respect. It has truly been a blessing for both my child and for me.
Thank you, ECGA, for creating a space where our children can thrive, be challenged, and feel truly supported.

Emerald City Gymnastics has been a game-changer for our daughter, and we can't recommend it enough. We've been part of the Emerald City family for over three years and we have found the coaches to be outstanding. They're not just experts in skill development; they put safety first, always. What really sets them apart is their dedication to being positive role models. Our daughter has blossomed under their guidance, and we've seen firsthand the incredible impact they've had on her.
Our daughter found her passion for gymnastics fairly late, the coaches however helped her seamlessly transition from recreational to competitive gymnastics, a testament to their commitment to help each child grow.
We want to give a special shout-out to some of her coaches over the years, Carolyn, Kyra, Tami, Tara, Taylor, and Erin. Every single one has been an excellent role model, creating a supportive and empowering environment that has helped our daughter thrive as both an athlete and a person.
Even now, as our daughter recovers from a long injury layoff, Emerald City Gymnastics has been supportive. The coaches, along with the owner, have been incredibly understanding and proactive in helping her safely get back into her training. This level of care and personalized attention genuinely sets Emerald City Gymnastics apart.
If you're looking for a gymnastics school that combines top-notch coaching, a strong focus on safety, and coaches who are genuinely wonderful role models, you've found it with Emerald City Gymnastics. They have our highest recommendation!

We absolutely love ECGA! Our daughter is part of the team and spends about 12 hours a week at the gym — it has truly become her second home. She looks forward to every practice, is fully committed, and thrives during competition season.
Her coaches are incredible — they not only believe in her but also support her growth both as an athlete and as a person. Through their guidance, she's learning discipline, resilience, and the value of hard work — lessons that will serve her well in gymnastics and in life.

The reply: I want to clarify that what you mentioned is not accurate. I had already decided to withdraw my son from the program before this incident even happened. Starting from the summer, I had planned other activities for him and had already canceled his enrollment prior to that day.
Also, this month was our final month, and when you asked why we weren’t returning the following week if my son felt okay, I clearly told you that we were done and I asked for a refund. That’s exactly what happened.
Additionally, based on Google reviews from other parents, it seems that similar issues have occurred before. Some mentioned their children were ignored while certain kids were given more attention, and even noted concerns around diversity. While I was there, I also heard a parent ask why the coach was focusing only on a few children and not including everyone equally.
The original review: I am very disappointed with my experience at this gymnastics. My son is only 5 years old and the substitute coach completely ignored him and did not take care of him during the class. When I raised my concerns with the coach, she yelled at me and spoke disrespectfully. I’m really disappointed and have decided not to return to the class, even though the manager asked me to come next week. I had already canceled this program for the summer beforehand. We've been with this gymnastics center for two years and have never experienced anything like this before
After I shared my experience, the manager replied saying that my son was just playing and she was only telling him not to jump too close to other kids. I was there and this is not true at all. My son is very shy and stayed quietly, but other children repeatedly pushed him. He was scared and hesitant to jump or move because of this, and the coach did nothing to stop it or protect him.
I am deeply disappointed by the lack of care, respect, and professionalism from the staff. This was a very upsetting experience for both me and my son. I cannot recommend this gym to other parents who want a safe and supportive environment for their children.

My girls have been attending ECGA for about three years, and during that time, they've had the opportunity to work with several different coaches. I’ve been consistently impressed by each and every one of them! The coaches truly take the time to get to know each athlete, tailoring their approach to help nurture individual growth and skill development. We even chose to host a birthday party this year at ECGA, and it turned out to be the smoothest party we've ever had. Everything was so well-organized, and we received so many compliments from our guests. I highly recommend ECGA to any family looking for a supportive, fun, and well-run gymnastics program.

We came to Emerald City Gymnastics Academy 3 years ago, after a very negative and toxic experience at another local gym. From the moment we joined, ECGA became our second home.
The environment here is incredibly supportive, positive, and child-centered. The owner clearly lives and breathes gymnastics — and it shows in every aspect of the gym. At ECGA, it’s always kids first. Every coach, every class, every decision is made with the best interest of the athletes in mind.
As a parent, nothing is more important than knowing your child is safe, valued, and respected. Every time I drop my kids off at ECGA, I do so with complete peace of mind. I know they are not only receiving top-notch gymnastics training, but also learning life lessons in discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and confidence — lessons they will carry with them far beyond the sport.
We are beyond grateful to be part of this amazing community.

My kids have enjoyed doing gymnastics here for the past two years, and most of the coaches have been great—supportive, friendly, and skilled. However, our experience with one coach, Kyra, has been consistently disappointing. She has been the least approachable and, frankly, quite rude.
For example, today we arrived 10 minutes early, and my son started stretching quietly in the mini munchkin room, which only has a carpet. The hallway was crowded, but Kyra still insisted—rather harshly—that he leave the room, without offering any alternative. It felt unnecessary and unkind, especially given the circumstances.
Another concern is the rigid vacation policy. If you plan to be away for a month, you’re still required to pay the full tuition just to keep your child’s spot. So, if your child attends three days a week, you must pay for all three days—even if they don’t attend a single class. This feels unfair, especially when there are no flexible options or discounts.
Overall, while the coaching quality is generally good, it’s clear the facility is taking advantage of the lack of other gymnastics options in the Redmond area. A little more empathy and flexibility could go a long way in improving the experience for families.

Our daughter has been attending Emerald City Gym for over a year. We previously attended the Issaquah location and decided to try this one because it’s closer to us and offers more convenient time slots. While the scheduling has been more suitable, we’ve been disappointed with the program at this location.
In our experience, the coaches don’t seem to track students’ progress effectively. After more than a year, we haven’t seen any advancement or leveling up for our daughter. When we’ve asked about her progress, either the substitute teachers don’t know her well or there’s a lack of communication overall. At Issaquah, we saw clear progress and leveling, but here, it feels like the teaching and class structure aren’t designed to help students improve consistently.

We so appreciated the gym opening in the midst of the power outages after the bomb cyclone for a free open gym. The kids had such a great time running off some energy, the parents got some much needed time to charge devices and chat with other parents. It was a great space and the coaches/staff were all so kind. Such a wonderful thing to do for the community! Thank you!

I second some of the reviews suggesting discrimination of kids by coaches during their workout. I have a 3 yr old boy going to this facility and he looks forward to it. The previous coach Danielle is strict & inclusive and treats all kids the same, my kid was in her class during summer on Thursday. We had to reschedule to Wednesday when school reopened and the new coaches just focus on white kids considerably more & play/encourage them while consistently ignoring other kids. This observation is with multiple coaches and over multiple classes. We have also told these coaches about focusing on other kids & didn’t see much changes in their overall behavior.

My daughter enjoyed her classes here. Unfortunately, their policies for make up classes are designed in a way that is not beneficial for the student. We missed 3-4 classes in a month and was only offered one make up class. However, even that one class wasn’t offered later as we decided to go on pause due to schedule conflict, we were instead encouraged to terminate as they have high demand for the advance level.

To ur replay:
1. Fountain area is inside, inside means which is saying parents stopped and not beyond this point. I saw you are growing these years and more classes at the same time, more and more crowded parents waiting area. I am trying my best to leave the space and follow your rule. I think you could take lots of actions to prevent this kind of accident, such as, absorbent mats near the fountain area and of course pay attention for immediate cleanup. I feel that is not any parent responsibility.
2. I said that no staff noticed and helped at the first scene. You offered the ice bag after I reported to prevent other children falling as well. I assume that cannot be called at first scene.
We have been with the emerald city gymnastic for almost 3 years, I am quite disappointed with the recent class. Today my kid slipped and fell back down heavily in the ground due to a wet floor, which was not address properly. No warnings on the wet floor, No timely wiped up the splashed water, No staff noticed that….. This resulted in painful injuries, and she cried hard, but not even one staff noticed it. Only other parents helped my kid at the first scene, thanks to them. Safety should always be the top priority….. To make matters worse, the management team was not helpful in responding to this. The front desk is closed after I reported, likely due to a staffing shortage.
Btw, as I am leaving my review here, I read some other reviews which has the similar situation about kids felling down and no helpful response from the gym, which is so frustrated…… hopefully the management team could take these reported safety issues seriously to ensure a safe environment to all children…..

I am writing to recommend Emerald City Gymnastics, a phenomenal facility that has played a role in shaping my child's physical development, confidence, and love for movement. With unwavering dedication to excellence and a child-centered approach, Emerald City Gymnastics has exceeded our expectations in providing a stimulating environment for my son.
From the moment we enrolled our child at Emerald City Gymnastics, we were immediately impressed by the professional, caring, and skilled instructors who create a safe and encouraging space for children to explore and grow. Their expertise is evident in the thoughtful and age-appropriate activities designed to support each child's individual needs and developmental milestones. We have LOVED working with Coach Justin!
One of the standout aspects of Emerald City Gymnastics is the emphasis on fostering a love for movement, agility, and coordination through engaging and creative activities tailored to young children. Our 3-year-old eagerly anticipates each class, where he is greeted with enthusiasm, positivity, and a supportive community that celebrates his achievements, no matter how big or small.
Furthermore, the state-of-the-art facilities at Emerald City Gymnastics are impeccably maintained, providing a conducive environment for exploration, learning, and fun.
Beyond the great gymnastics instruction, the sense of community and camaraderie among parents, coaches, and staff at Emerald City Gymnastics creates a supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, empowered, and inspired to reach their full potential. The owners, coaches and front desk staff are attentive and take the time to get to know you and show you they genuinely care!
In summary, Emerald City Gymnastics has been a highlight of our week for our family. We are profoundly grateful for the positive impact this facility has had on our child's growth, confidence, and ability to foster friendships. We wholeheartedly recommend Emerald City Gymnastics to families seeking a nurturing, engaging, and enriching experience for their young children. They know how to throw an AWESOME birthday party too!!! 😉
10/10 would recommend.

I speak for many families that complain in small circles but are too polite to speak up for whatever reason. This facility needs a hygiene overhaul. The moment you walk in, the stench of uncleanliness from sweat, body odor, unclean carpeting and whatever other combination of bacteria is just unacceptable. There are a plethora of sanitizing equipment for gymnasiums on the market and the it is time for Emerald City to make the investment for the health of its clientele. There are massive gym complexes with thousands of people rotating through and heavy foot traffic throughout the US, that manage air quality and cleanliness so well because it is a top priority and commitment to members.
Hand sanitizer and spraying equipment was the barest pre-Covid minimum, and does nothing for the bigger picture.
Please, please make this a welcoming and healthy environment for children and families.
Children walk freely barefooted throughout the entire facility, including to-and-from the bathrooms and back onto the gym floor. The bathrooms are not clean, often having urine on the tiles. Basic hand soap is often missing. You have to make an investment in diligent custodial care.
Families are not speaking up but they’re talking.

* EDIT: I received your email dated Monday, September 25, 2023 - 6 months after my first email to you was sent. As I was out of state with minimal to no reception and service, I was unable to read/respond to your email until today (Sunday, October 8, 2023).
However, the day my review of your gym was posted, I was contacted within a matter of hours. The matter has been settled and while there is no reason to revisit it, it does not negate the fact that I had to send two emails, a message, and call twice to have management respond and for my concerns to be heard.*
Management is terrible. I’ve sent an email regarding some issues with staff we’ve been having and have yet to receive any feedback from management. I’ve called, only to be told that my email “has been forwarded to the owner, but she’s a very busy woman”. It’s been a month since I’ve emailed her. Not once, but twice now.

Reply to owner:
Yes you replied, 7 days after my email sent to you and just after I posted this review.
Regarding Coach Daniel, she is a woman not a guy and she teaches child-parent classes (age<3). I think you misunderstood who I am referring to.
Initial review:
I agree with other reviewers, this place doesn't care for teaching kids, its more like an expensive playground. Most of the coaches are very young. My son has been going here on and off starting when he was 3. He hasn't learned much as I hoped for. Recently he has been attending 6-12 boys class and he is getting bullied almost everytime from an older kid. The music is too loud and the coach doesnt notice when another kid is bullying with words. Coach is too distracted to even care. Coaches do not care to make sure kids take turns. This coach talks so low and so fast even I couldnt understand him. Even previous classes for kids under 6 were a mess. Weekend classes are more like a zoo. In 15 minute warm ups, there is only one coach there and all others are resting. No one fixes incorrect moves. I don't know why I am even paying for this classes.
There is only a very few coaches that care like Coach Daniel who care for younger kids (kids under 3), maybe tht's because parents are in the field too. The other ones simply do not care for your child's growth.
I sent an email to the owners about my feedback and I never got a reply.

After my daughter finishing her second class, I really want to share my experience. Except the receptionist (a younger lady), everything is incredible here, especially my daughter’s coach T for P/C class. The reason I am not satisfied with the receptionist is that when I asked her some questions as a new customer, she always looked unhappy and unhelpful. My problems are still not solved. For coach T, she is extremely friendly, patiently and professionally. My daughter likes her very much.

My son was super excited to join the gym after trial class, but when he started in boy's class (being about <6 year) he didn't feel welcomed nor engaged fully. Hence I reached out (over email) to see if he can be moved to Munchkins class(being 5 year) which he was originally assigned but unfortunately that didn't happen. After talking to the coach, things were better for a single class and I saw lack of engagement with my son. I won't recommend the gymnastics!

I think I need to share my experience with everyone here . I experienced discrimination here.My 4 years son was so excited going to gymnastics classes until the coach made him not liking it anymore. The coach was clearly fixated on him and treated us unfair. While other kids were freely moving around without mask, she was asking my 4 years old goes back and forth to tighten his mask or change it to another mask. I had no issues with him wearing mask but the coach attitude was absolutely not professional and kind. I hope no one else experience this.

This is a great gym. There are multiple tracks at the gym, a recreational track and multiple competitive tracks. The competitive track coaches are excellent; The rec coaches are fine too.
This is a serious gymnastics academy, with terrific coaches, and great facilities. Our daughter is very motivated, and has found the right environment to develop her skills.
The owner will tell you that this isn't the gym for you if you expect the coaches to yell and push too hard. They are serious and have a track history of winning gymnasts. But they expect the kids to bring it desire, focus, and effort-wise, and there's a self-selection aspect.
I've been incredibly impressed with their emphasis on safety and facilities (modulo changing/locker area), and how strong my girls have become. They're not world-beaters in this sport, and probably never will be, but that's ok.
Only issue is high turnover of students. Girls are constantly moving between levels (they advance at diff pace), and rec level has lots of folks who come/go. Some of the performances mentioned in other reviews reflect that.

The best program we've found in 3 years. Despite only registerring for the summer, both the Munchkin and Parent-Tot class significantly improved my children's skills. They were given moments of personal coaching by each teacher. The warm-up ideas were creative. My little ones looked forward to class. A nice plus: The teenagers who assist were also lovely. Great, bright facilities. Thank you!

Some coaches are fabulous, others a acceptable, and still others are worthless. The boy's program has a bigger problem with being given crappy coaches than the girls program. When the boys actually get a good coach the owner is quick to pull him off and leave the boys with coaches who are next to useless. I've tolerated several sub par coaches for my son for months on end. And begged for decent coaches to be kept in place. Only to be screamed at by the owner when I finally got fed up after over 18 months for poor coaching. My daughter has had better luck with coaches, but the program is huge so it's easier to find someone. I recommend you look someplace else, maybe another gym will have less coach turn over, I have heard about how poorly the staff is treated so that likely doesn't help.

Took the kids here for a birthday party. They had a blast! The staff was very friendly and VERY good with the kids and keeping them in order. There's a viewing room behind glass to watch the kids while sitting down.

My daughter loves to go there, and keeps learning new skills and get better balance. Don't know if is the best due this been the only place she has been, but we like the location next to the ballet place.

My daughter went here for 3 years. After a full year in the "developmental" program, she was asked to leave- and in fact, it was true that she had failed to progress and in some cases managed to lose skills she used to know. Even worse, she started complaining about going and her previous joy of gymnastics was gone. We switched to Eastside Gymnastics for one last try. She joined their developmental program and in less than 3 weeks had mastered every single one of the skills she had struggled with all year at ECGA. And, she once again loved gymnastics! To each their own, but we found that the coaching at Eastside is far superior. Plus the parent viewing area is a million times better and the front office staff is actually friendly!
