This place has everything for you to get started or to continue on your journey from your previous gym experience. It's got tractor tires outside for strong man and various other apparatuses. The one thing that really drew me in was the pendulum squat machine and the hack squat machine. That was the clincher. Dimitri is a true professional. There are many squat racks and there's a very good chance they will not be occupied. It's got every free weight interval you can even imagine with plenty of Olympic bars with fresh knurling. The bars are coded so you're using the right one always. So much to do here. Definitely come here if you want a complete professional gym.

I just moved to Gig Harbor and have been checking out gyms in the area. This place advertises a drop-in option on their site, so my girlfriend called to ask about it. Instead of just handling it over the phone, we were told to fill out an online form. The form doesn’t actually schedule anything—it just collects your contact info and says someone will reach out.
The drop-in rate is $20 for a single day (worth knowing up front). I filled out the form and got a text the next day asking when I wanted to come in. I replied with a specific day and time two days later, but I didn’t hear back until the morning of that day—only to be told my requested time didn’t work. Very frustrating.
What kind of gym doesn’t have regular staffed hours where you can just walk in, pay, and try it out? Between that experience, the high membership prices, and the number of reviews mentioning how hard it is to cancel, I decided not to bother.
Save yourself the hassle—go to the Y instead.

Gym equipment is super outdated. Equipment is always sticky and gross even if you wipe it down before use. I’ve never seen anyone (employees) clean. I’m pretty sure they have fabuloso in the spray bottles. It’s a pretty distinct smell.
My boyfriend got a metal shaving stuck in his hand from the old dumbbells, ended up bleeding everywhere and ended his workout early. We signed up for sheer convenience since this was close to home.
NOT worth the 96$/month and additional sign on fees, annual fees, random fees. Canceled my membership over 2 months ago and I’m still being charged even after the acknowledgement from the management that they’d cancel and when I reached out, they mentioned that “I’m on the list” to cancel. I’ll just keep disputing the charges since I have the acknowledgement email.
Just choose wisely when you’re considering a gym!!

Absolutely love this place. My mom and grandma are both members, and when I’m in town I’m always excited to get to workout here. Equipment is always available and you never have to wait for anything. 24/7 access is extremely convenient. The reviews talking about the outdated equipment clearly have the wrong priorities; everything functions appropriately and safely, and you have every single thing you could possibly want to get a great workout in.

I ended up moving and did not go here for months. They will not cancel my membership, they are trying to charge me for three months I did not go and refuse to cancel my membership. Would not recommend.

Dropped in while visiting Tacoma and had a great experience! This gym has literally everything a fitness enthusiast could ask for. It’s clean and spacious and every room is designated for its own type of training which is nice.
The owner, Dmitry, was very generous and kind when checking us in and showing us around.
If we visit Tacoma again we’ll definitely come back here!

Old and depressing vibe. The bathrooms look like they are from the 60’s. A lot of dumbbells look like they were bought at a garage sale.
On a positive note. This is a great space, a lot of options to choose from and the hours are a strong plus. Just old equipment and dingy feeling.

This gym has done so much for my fitness confidence and overall health. Dimitri has helped me so much in all areas of strength building, proper nutrition and stretching. I feel stronger and have more energy. If you want to join a gym with supportive people and a gym owner that really cares about your success you have to join this gym.

For what I consider a premium price $96 a month, the place feels dirty and the equipment is not properly maintained and you dont know when there might be an improvement fee.

By far the best gym I've been to in my entire excercise career. No TVs or treadmills taking up all the space. Each room organized for optimal use; free weights, cardio, machines, open room for classes and Olympic weight area. Love the atmosphere and the people. Dimitri is a phenomenal coach and makes you feel welcome by hearing what you have to say.
I would recommend this gym to all of my friends.

I travel a lot and hit a lot of gyms all over the country. This is hands down the best gym that I have been in over the past many years. It's a gym for people who like to lift, and not fart around. Love the place, and the management.

I love this place, overall it’s a great gym and the staff can be very helpful. Only two concerns, it’s a very pricey gym and I have no clue where it’s all going because there are some things in there that could really use an update. Be careful as there are also enhancement fees every once in a while. The staff are amazing and they’ve never required masks which was awesome. Would recommend this gym to anyone looking to start or continue lifting.

I just got home from having a form check of the big 4 barbell movements with Dmitry the owner. I lifted in high school for football and wrestling and have never had form pro taught. I bought Starting Strength (book) sometime last year and watched a lot of YouTube videos to learn how to properly low bar squat, press, bench & deadlift. My form was off in all 4 (some more than others) & Dmitry worked with me through each lift, giving me cues and corrections in a very helpful & kind way. This was my first "Strength" gym experience and I am 39. I'm kicking myself for not getting some form coaching sooner. Well worth the 45 minute drive from Poulsbo where I live.

Shame on me for not checking my bank card statement. We have been charged for 6 months of membership dues after canceling our membership in person. When we approached the management, they looked up our record on the computer to find that indeed, we had cancelled. We were assured a refund was forthcoming. Shame on Gig Harbor Strength and Fitness for now saying we did not provide written notification and we will not receive a refund. At the time we turned in our keys, we were told everything would be taken care of.
No complaints about the facility; serious complaints about the management and their lack of customer service.

Amazing gym with fantastic ownership. I've been a gym rat for 20 years and have had a number of memberships, certifications, competitions and even been an owner myself. I love what he has done with Gig Harbor Strength and Fitness, highly recommend this gym for anyone serious about being fitter / stronger.

I love this gym. I've been going here for almost 2 years and have always found Demitri helpful in making sure I'm doing my lifts correctly. I do wish there were more classes but it seems the clientele really enjoy the gym for strength. The people who go here are friendly and willing to lend a hand if you need it. If you haven't lifted weights in a long time (or ever) there is an affordable class to learn how to to lift properly....take it!

The new owner is Awesome. He's been there a while and recently (with last couple years) bought the place. It's not a fancy gym. It's just s gym for locals. It has all you need to be a throw down CrossFit gym but is not CrossFit. Alex is knowledgeable and very happy to give pointers.

I always overhear the owner gossip and talk bad about others with his employees or even some of the gym members. He also does not follow the agreement billing cycle under my account. I've been signed up for about 5 months now and the only time i was billed correctly was on the initial month. They say $30 per person yet i've been billed double "on accident" several times. I'm starting to think they charge whoever they want WHAT they want. All of this extra unnecessary stress when all i want is a nice workout at a gym that makes me feel welcomed, appreciated and not like i'm
being scammed. If there was a "Non-star rating" i'd choose it.

I trained for about 3 months here and loved every training day. This is by no means a “cookie-cutter” gym that you might get with *anytime fitness* or *ymca*. The owner only buys quality barbells and I have never had to wait for a squat rack. The gym has also never been crowded in the time I trained there. The only downside I can see is the building is rather small.

Not as big as a lot of the other gyms but they're just as difficult (if not more so) to cancel. Membership auto renews for a year (!) if you don't cancel in the property time frame. I paid "penalty" fees break the contract early and was told it was cancelled... until it wasn't. A few months later I got an email saying another payment was coming due again. Emailed asking about why since I was already "cancelled". Waited almost 3 weeks before they could be bothered to send me a reply about how I needed to return a key fob. I luckily still had it and plan to return it today. Will update if there are any other hoops that I need to jump through.
Could use some slightly better organization and customer service.

Be careful with these people. I joined this gym on a MONTH TO MONTH basis sometime ago and I called (on this 14 of February) to let them know that they should not have been charged me this month, because I sent an email communication REPLY at the beginning of the month, asking them NOT TO charge my membership for February when their email said I would be charged on the 5th. I no longer wanted to be a member of the gym. I thought it was settled, but I was in fact charged on the 11th of February (regardless of my email). I had paid for the previous two months and went a total of two times. I didn’t lose sight of the fact that I have no recollection of signing any contract with the gym. It was all very casual. I remember signing a disclaimer form and have a month to month membership with a fee drafted from my account every month. When I called on the 14th, I was informed by the owner that I did sign a contract which included a cancellation fee? No one talked to me at the time I joined about a cancellation fee? I was told that I could cancel that day if I wanted to, and they would keep my last month’s membership fee and call it a cancellation fee, since their cancellation fee was greater. The owner said I was cancelled that day with no further use of the gym. What? Are these practices even legal? I’m not trying to give back a car or a home I just purchased. I just want to terminate a gym membership!!! I am not happy with such treatment and never intend to go back there! Word of advice-You had better be clear as to what your obligations are here when you sign up with Gig Harbor Strength and Fitness. They act friendly until you want out!

Cherie here recently transferred from the personal training care of Dimitri, Into one of his classes
He subjected me to personal put down through the whole class, and so I endured remarks of a personal nature.
Really feel sorry for him as he is trying to build his business but I don’t want to be a guinea pig .

As a professional strength and conditioning coach/sports physical therapist I have trained all over the country. Gig Harbor fitness is by far one of the best. Phil Ruscigno is a stand out at what he does. I wish I could take his knowledge and training ideology (and his club) back with me to Charlotte North Carolina. Our professional athlete population would love his conditioning and training model! You’re very lucky to have him in Gig Harbor!

This is the place to be if you want to get strong! The owners and staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The gym is newly renovated with a generous supply of power racks, barbells, bumper plates, and iron plates. The place also includes cable machines and cardio machines - pretty much everything you could ask for in a no-nonsense gym.
