This Golds is now a YMCA. Friendly staff and quality equipment make for an easy workout. Many different class workouts are offered.

Golds gym has some new equipment but a lot of the gear is older, no denying that. However, you don't go to Golds for the equipment alone. You go to Golds for the atmosphere and they have the best atmosphere of any gym in Spokane! If you are elderly and want to enjoy a peaceful morning workout -go to Golds! If you are interested in group classes full of energy and camaraderie - go to Golds! If you are all about cardio and want to zone out on the stair-master - go to Golds. If you are a serious lifter and want to use chalk, get a little noisy, and actually hit a new PR - go to Golds! Golds is the best gym in Spokane hands down, no questions asked!

New ownership! This women is the rudest owner to any business I have ever spoken with. Do not support her business.

Wasn't too busy which was nice, but doesn't hold a candle to my Richland Golds :/

Everything I want and need plus helpful, friendly trainers. Price is good. I don't like to swim in indoor chlorine-filled pools so not having a pool here is no big deal. I also tried Oz gym around the corner a couple of years ago, but it seemed rather high pressure, with employees trying to sell me this and that. Golds seems more like a club.
UPDATE: The locker rooms have been fully remodeled.

I like Gold's Gym, It's pretty good. Wish the one on North side of Spokane didn't close. Also wish they had pool.

Yes, the locker rooms could use a face lift, but the facility is great, it has a full range of weights and machines, even heavy lifters equipment and cross fit or boot camp equipment. There are plenty of cardio machines as well, added the real Stair Masters too! They did expand the gym a bit to accommodate the extra equipment which made me happy since I'm a boot camp instructor and feel the machines don't work you out the right way (unless you have an injury). The aerobics instructors are great for group classes as well. I think the price is very reasonable, that's why I've been there for 8 years. I did work for 24 Hour Fitness in CA(same as Oz) and hated the company, lots of turn around on employees and meat market atmosphere and way too busy at peak times. Golds is home and I know a lot of people who have been there for many years that I consider my friends even though we only know each other from the gym.

I've never felt more comfortable or welcome in a gym. The staff is amazing and their equipment is fabulous. I'd never want to go anywhere else!

The previous reviews don't do this place justice. Ok, it isn't perfect - could use a bit more this and that. But, it is cheap, the facilities are fine, the class instructors are very very good and I have found the staff to be excellent. Great value IMHO. Not for everyone, but for those who are most concerned about pure simple fitness this place will allow you to lift, cardio and go to great classes cheaply.

I went there for 2 months on the group-on special. In that time I was almost never greeted at the counter on my arrival. I worked out for a month on my own and decided I wanted to get to know the equipment a little more so i signed up for a personal trainer. When I met with her I expressed what i wanted, and instead the trainer insisted on full body exercises. Ok I went with it and keep in mind I am not overweight or completely unfit, I can easily ride a bike on hard settings for 10 mile in a half hour. But she came back with this step box that was as tall as my knees. Ok? Then she proceeds to have me do lunges, then step up on the box, then squats, then repeat. Not at all focusing on what I wanted to do, OK, i followed her routine, but i expressed I wanted to get to know some machines too and she reiterated that she doesn't believe in machines. Fine i went with it still, my legs are getting weak and i tell her, but instead of listening she tries to push, i understand they hear people who are whiners and i can't to it types all the time, but not me, but I keep going because she says so. We get done and literally my knees are falling out from under me! I decided when i go back in a few days I'm gonna ask about credentials and speak to a manager. Never happened, cause the next day my legs did not work at all, I fell to the floor in serious pain. I had to be carried to the bath and then later went to the doctors. I was unable to walk for 2 weeks and had to miss 1 week of work. Either she was not a certified trainer or really thought she new best. Either way she didn't listen. Not a good experience.
