Highly recommend GLSC to anyone looking for a gym and is looking to commit themselves to improving their health, regardless of their level of experience at the gym. I joined GLSC a bit over a year ago to help with general conditioning before the ski season. I had not lifted weights nor been in a gym for about 10 years, and had always disliked going to the gym - GLSC was very different. Signing up for slots in the gym provided both a level of accountability as well as ensuring that it was never busy when I wanted to work out. I rarely (maybe 3 times over the course of 1.25 years) had issues finding a slot when I wanted to work out, and when I went, there was a small but fantastic group of other ID clients who were there to help me pursue my goals
I was in the individualized design program with Shaina originally, then Christian after Shaina had to take a break - both were absolutely fantastic coaches who helped a beginner safely and effectively work towards a level of fitness I hadn’t experienced since I was much younger. I began to do some of the classes in addition to the ID, and can tell the sense of community in them are excellent as well. I’m leaving Seattle for a few years, but will absolutely be signing up again when I get back.
Great gym, great classes, great coaches, and great owners. Thanks Nate, Shaina, Christian, Tracy, Finn, Alex, Hannah, as well as to everyone else I interacted with!

Can’t say enough great things about GLSC. The team is super welcoming, intentional with understanding how to best serve you and your goals, the class time options are full-ranging, and the coaches/instructors are knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and friendly. It’s a great environment to get/stay healthy, find and build community, and create lifelong habits for well-being.

Friendly and effective ! After 6 months working out at GLSC. my DEXA and health scores are all much improved.
This gym welcomes a wide range of folks, from beginners to the very experienced. Everyone is serious about getting stronger, but it's done with community and fun. There are a variety of classes to accommodate different goals. The coaches, both men and women, are very helpful in correcting form, explaining "why", and helping us all get stronger, safely. Definitely recommend GLSC !

I've been at GLSC since March of this year and I could not be happier there! The coaches are personable, extremely knowledgeable, and kind; the atmosphere is welcoming and both beginner friendly and scalable; the equipment is well-maintained and cared-for.
The community, physical strength, and wellbeing I have found and cultivated since joining the gym is unmatched. I am now the friend who tries to bring all my friends to the gym, because it's GLSC. Cannot recommend enough.

I've been a member now for over 2 years. What I like most is the variety of workout types and intensities offered. When I feel like working on mobility, there's a dedicated class for that. And when I feel like getting my butt kicked by a workout, there's a class for that too. The coaches do a great job accommodating students across a range of fitness backgrounds and skill levels, which is really nice to see. Lastly, in over 2 years I have not once been injured at GLSC, a testament to the safety-first culture at this gym.

I definitely had preconceived notions of what a gym like this would be- gym bros, highly curated gym outfits, complicated weight lifting moves- and was prepared to be uncomfortable. But I couldn't have been more wrong.
This place can best be described as a come-as-you-are gym. They meet you where you're at; no judgement, all encouragement. I actually look forward to going. It's not at all intimidating to show up to a class where you know no one because EVERYONE is welcoming.
The gym management is accessible and flexible. It's not like a big box gym where corporate red tape makes the rules feel unreasonable. These are normal level headed people that get that life happens.
The coaches are awesome. Each one has a different style, but they are all consistent in that they help tailor the exercises to something that works for you. None of them are intimidating or drill sergeants. Again, more normal people who are invested in your physical well being.
If you're looking for a gym, consider this one. Find a member and come check it out during a Bring a Friend Friday (first Friday of each month). That's how I finally tried it, and now I'm hooked.

I joined GLSC a few months ago and have had a great experience so far. I was quite intimidated in the beginning but the coaches are super supportive and I’ve learned a ton (and I’ve gotten much much stronger!). The whole vibe is very friendly and positive. They also offer a ton of class times so I’ve never had a problem finding classes that work with my schedule.

Highly recommend this gym! It’s super friendly and welcoming, with knowledgeable trainers who meet you where you're at — whether you want support or a push, there’s no pressure or judgment. I always feel safe and comfortable here.
The place is well run, with flexible options that fit into busy schedules. Social events are there if you want them, but totally optional.
I love the relaxed, inclusive but unpretentious atmosphere — people of all ages, sizes, genders, and backgrounds work and work out here. It is on the pricier side, but you really get what you pay for.

I have been going to GLSC for three years and it is hands down the best gym I have ever gone to. Great community. Everyone is encouraging, not just coaches. No one is forced to go at too hard of pace or weight, which is a nice change of pace if you’ve had previous injury from doing too much too fast.
It’s also nice to have the flexibility to take a wide range of classes for your specific needs, and different time slots to work around busy schedules. It helps that the gym is right next to green lake where I live, but I would commute if I had to.
Parking can be a hassle, so I would budget time for this.

I LOVE this gym!!! Esp as someone who has had multiple mediocre gym experiences— I started with this gym in January with a personal trainer and attending beginning classes. And over five months I dropped 12 pounds and have built some solid muscle mass. And each class is truly an adventure in pushing some limits and learning some new skills. The trainers have been fantastic, and there’s a real community amongst the people who teach and who attend classes. This gym is a worthwhile investment.

I've never been a "gym guy". I grew up thinking I was too small to be athletic until I rediscovered sports as a young adult. So when I say, "I love this gym", know that it's not coming from somejock who loved working out...and I do love this gym. I had been searching for a form of exercise to replace the activity and community of a team sport after I suffered a ruptured Achilles. I found GLSC through a free trial and had no idea it was going to change the way I thought and felt about fitness. GLSC workouts were the highlight of my week, and over the course of a year, I saw my skills, strength, and enjoyment improved significantly.
Here's why I love Green Lake Strength and conditioning:
1) The coaches: Shout out to Coaches Hannah, Zeyab, and Jonathan, who were my first and primary coaches. They are the perfect balance between motivating and moderating, helping you gauge your skill/strength limits and safely push them. They are excellent at teaching form and technique, and they brought my high-school-level understanding of weightlifting up to par. Despite having an injured Achilles shoulder, their guidance helped ensure that I never injured myself (and in fact reduced my pain through strengthening and increasing range of motion) even while greatly increasing my strength and endurance. They can help you improve whether you're a beginner or an expert.
2) The community: GLSC has a vibrant community. Members get to know each other but not in an in-your-face sort of way - you can be a casual weekly member or you can join your fellow members on unofficial hikes and official BBQs and gatherings. There's a very wide range of ages and experiences in these classes, and they didn't make me feel "dumb" or out of place. Classes have been kept to 12 people max, which after experiencing much smaller and larger classes, 12 is a great number - not too crowded but not awkwardly empty. You also get to know each other through the infamous question of the day - just lean into it, it'll be fun, I promise. ;)
3) Facilities/programming: After trying several other gyms, I can confidently say that none of them quite match up to GLSC's programming. GLSC excels because of the three distinct segments of their strenght & conditioning workouts: Warm-ups, skill/strength-building, and WOD. The warm-ups aren't just stretching and jumping jacks - they are specifically design to engage the muscle groups that you'll be using, they help reinforce the techniques needed to complete the rest of the workout of the day, and they get your heart pumping. Other gyms I've experienced rush this part or do the bare minimum. The skill/strength segment is where I learned the most over the last year because they remove the speed element and focus on quality over quantity. Again, the other gyms I've experienced rush this part and either skip teaching altogether or push you into a higher pace too soon. They also offer a wide range of modifications and equipment to meet each person's level of skill and strength. The WODs vary between low, medium, and high metabolic conditioning and are varied in type and style so you're never bored. There's no "leg day" or "arm day" - your entire body will be exhausted every day. They oddly fill you with both a sense of dread and excitement, knowing how hard they will be but also how good you'll feel afterwards. And for what it's worth, the coaches have generally good tastes in music - good balance between pumping you up but not obnoxious techno.
A note about cost: It's expensive. But I look at value for cost, not low cost. The quality of the coaching and programming alone is easily worth it in my eyes. Add to that a clean, high-quality facility, fun community, and personal results and I was happy to pay the higher cost.
I loved this gym...but sadly had to give up my membership when my workplace moved away. I'm still searching for a new gym, forever comparing it to GLSC and still not finding its equal. Congrats, Nate and team, for building this wonderful gym and community! Hit me up if you want to expand to S. Seattle!

The thing I like the most about GLSC is the sense of community. Not only do I feel supported by the coaches but also by my fellow gym partners. There is no pressure to push yourself to extremes. As a newbie, the more experienced members showed me the ropes, helped me set up, and encouraged me every step of the way. If you're looking for a supportive environment to step back into an exercise routine I highly recommend GLSC.

I have been attending GLS&C for about 5 months and am participating in the individual (versus group) side. I hadn't done any weight training or organized exercise, outside of yoga classes, since before my kids were born and wanted to join a gym that would be supportive, teach me how to train properly, and help me be consistent. I am continually impressed with the coaches (shout-out to Christian and Olivia)- I now know what I'm doing (most of the time), am reaching my goals, and have found a supportive community. Here's to being strong in middle age!

When I did my no sweat intro at first I wasn’t convinced enough to join this place, as I was a little scared because I had neck issues and was skeptical about Individualised design (ID) program that I was evaluating. Prior to this I had a year personal 1-1 training and now wanted to move away and do something in group but still assisted and ID sounded perfect fit. I decided against joining at first, because I didn’t know how I would manage to do these workouts on my own and was a little intimidating, but then after my husband joined he always had good things to say about this place, I finally decided to try it out. I had my 1-1 with my coach at first and he designed a program for me based on my goals, initially I felt a little lost because of the transition from 1-1 to ID, but now almost 6 months down the lane I can say it was a pretty smooth and seamless transition. And this is all because of the coaches’ support. The best part is I have access to multiple coaches and each of them have something to offer to and I get to learn from all of them. All the coaches here are very kind, always encouraging and have guided me well throughout. They trained me to follow correct posture, form and best practices so I am well equipped to understand my weight limits, what each of the workouts mean for my body etc., I can confidently say I have learnt a lot and evolved in my fitness journey. Also, they made me feel very comfortable right from the beginning, there is a strong sense of community here and every one here are friendly and support each other. So this gym has supported in my mental wellbeing as well :), which I needed the most as I am just 2 years old in the country. I am so comfortable now here that I cannot think of joining elsewhere. And all of this about the gym has actually made me visit the gym 3-4 times a week, which I couldn’t imagine doing prior to joining here. I would strongly recommend this place as as it offers something for everyone.

I'm happy with my experience at Green Lake Strength and Conditioning classes. As a physical therapist, I'm genuinely impressed by the continuous emphasis on correct technique and building skill. The coaches pay special attention to each individual, meeting us where we are and providing personalized advice to help us progress safely.
The class environment is welcoming and inclusive, catering to all levels and skill sets, which makes it much less intimidating for newcomers. Every week, I look forward to feeling stronger, supporting my bone density, and improving my mobility.
Being part of this gym has been an exciting journey, and I couldn't be happier with the results. If you're looking for a supportive and professional setting to boost your fitness, I highly recommend these classes.

I've done lots of different kinds of training over the years, with many different coaches, philosophies, etc. I finally settled into crossfit-style HIIT training about a decade ago. Then my gym closed. I tried many other gyms, classes, etc., but for almost two years nothing really seemed to stick.
About six months ago, I happened to wander in to GLSC and sign up for a trial. I'm very, very happy I did. The gym and its community have been extremely welcoming. The quality of the instruction is excellent; as good or better than any set of coaches I've ever worked with.
I highly recommend GLSC for anyone interested in this sort of fitness. It's a welcoming place, suitable for any skill level, with excellent coaching.

Everyone I’ve met in class is very supportive and encouraging, even to new folks! Staff is reasonable and will work with you to make sure you are getting what you want out of your membership. The workouts are well structured and menus available online beforehand so you can choose classes and workouts you are interested in. All coaches have also walked around during class and helped me correct movement, which is rare for group classes and a big plus. This is my first time doing any kind of workout that heavily incorporates bars so the attention from coaches was extra helpful. If you are interested in weight lifting centric workouts, and a supportive community, look no further!

I was a member from April, '24 until September, '24 and only left because I moved. I really enjoyed my time at GLSC. The onboarding classes did a good job assessing my current condition and understanding of different workouts before joining group classes. I like the Metcon-style workouts in small groups which allowed the coaches to give specific attention to each individual over the course of the workout. They heavily emphasized proper technique and protecting oneself from injury over taking shortcuts which can lead to bad habits or injuries.
Over my time there I felt like I got much better at Olympic lifting which was an emphasis of mine, but they personalize the approach for each athlete, so I'm confident that you will be able to set and make progress toward your own goals whether that's increasing strength, focusing on form and technique, or just getting a great workout in an open and welcoming setting. The only thing that I would add to this gym if I was able to would be locker room facilities.
I recommend you check out this gym and give it and yourself a shot at being great.

My spouse and I joined GLSC in late 2023. I was hesitant at first, but can now confirm it's worth it after 6 months of regular classes :)
New joiners spend 2 weeks in small classes to learn the basics, then you'll have 3 buddies to go to regular classes with. Coaches & staff are supportive, classmates are friendly, and you are given space & time to focus what you want to achieve.
I always struggle with body coordination & physical movement, and all coaches have been extremely patient in guiding me to avoid injury. So don't worried if you're new to exercise - this is a place that will help you get stronger!

This gym is the best health investment I’ve ever made. Living in the neighborhood, I’d waffled for months over joining—it’s pricier than some other gyms but you get SO MUCH. I do the individualized design program, where I get a 1:1 coach to start, then very small group sessions overseen by a coach as we do our customized strength workouts. It’s like getting private training 3-4 times a week, plus membership includes all the group classes they have running daily.
I have some old injuries and the coaches have kept me safe while helping me get much stronger. And the people are the best part! You see the same faces and the community and friendships are awesome. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I especially want to recognize my assigned trainer, Zeyab. He is professional. He helps me to program my exercise for each class, which really helps me to build muscles. You can also tell him your goal and he'll adjust the exercise to meet it.

Joined in November of 2023 to get back in shape with my spouse. Really nice & thorough onboarding experience; classes really focus on technique, and are less focused on how fast you are compared to others.
Patient, fun coaching staff, good variety of classes, times, and membership plans.

I joined GLSC about 6 months ago. After coming back from several knee injuries, I decided that I needed to for real incorporate strength and conditioning into my week instead of just saying I’d do it.
I had never really lifted weights before and was nervous to try at first, but I like it now and it’s helped me feel stronger while running and mountain biking! The on-ramp classes were super helpful to learn the basics. The are tons of classes, classes are always different, coaches are intentional to teach everyone how to safely use equipment to do exercises, and provide 1:1 feedback to help you improve. Thanks, GLSC!

My wife and I were gym refugees since our local Crossfit gym closed 2 years ago.
At Green Lake S&C we found a new home.
Skilled and friendly coaches
Varied classes, with lots of availability throughout the day and week.
Bright, open space.
Clean, with two bathrooms plus a hand washing station.
Friendly fellow gym attendees.

We considered every gym we could find in Seattle. The vibes here are great, feels like a big family, it's a fun place. I appreciate the importance the coaches place on healthy movement as a foundation. Tons of knowledge across the entire coaching staff. There are a nice variety of classes and they're always expanding what they offer. I can't imagine going anywhere else. If we ever move houses the new house would have to be close to this gym :)

GLSC has been the best gym I’ve been a part of. It’s a garage style gym with lots of natural lighting and open doors when weather permits. In addition to DBs and BBs, the gym has a variety of other equipment (rowers, bikes, ropes, rings, bands, etc) that have been challenging, but fun to incorporate into workouts. The coaches are awesome. We get to know the coaches and they tailor classes (and music playlists) for athletes of all stages. I'd highly recommend this gym to anyone who’s looking to join in this area!

I've been going here for ~8 months now and it's great. Workouts can be intense but there are members at all levels in the classes and the coaches provide quality guidance on how to scale up or scale down the workouts. I've also done some personal training which has been helpful to dial things in. Lastly, its a great community with lots of locals. Very low pressure with high reward.

I've been going to this gym for ~3 months & really enjoy it! I was a long-time member of Orange Theory & when I moved to Green Lake, I wanted to find a new gym that was first and foremost, convenient. I've never used the barbell & was a little intimidated at first, but I've gotten the swing of it. The best part of the gym is the vibe. It's very laid back & unpretentious. I'm not a fitness guru by any means, and there are people of all skills and experience levels enjoying classes. They allow dogs! I've even seen a baby in a stroller there once & it really made me smile. I don't plan to bring either with me but I looove how welcoming they are. It allows people to make time and space for exercise. It especially gives primary caregivers, who tend to be mothers, the chance to prioritize themselves. I respect the hell out of that kind of culture. My fiancee is going to join soon, too! The only thing to keep in mind is it's definitely more expensive than the average gym in the area, but for the walkability, structure & culture, it's worth it for me.

Great coaches and facilities, flexible enough for my schedule with an infant. 5:00 am classes are not something I would have pictured for myself a short while ago, but I’m glad they have them. Classes cap out at 12, so there’s a lot of individual attention from coaches (I’ve definitely needed some coaching). Open gym slots are also available. Great community-oriented spot with involved owners. Glad to be part of it! I joined in August 2023.

GLSC has a great community, owners, and coaches, and is truly welcoming to all skill levels. I was initially hesitant to try it out given that I had barely stepped foot in any gym in many, many years. I had almost no experience in strength training. I ran and did some small weight exercises at home, but I had definitely hit a fitness plateau. My husband is a member, and I was inspired by the results he was getting, so I decided to give it a try.
I went through the on-ramp beginner course, which was very comprehensive, gave me the confidence to join group classes, and was also a great way to meet fellow members. I attend group classes every week, and appreciate how the coaches provide guidance on how to improve your form and modify exercises when needed, and there's never any pressure to lift more than you're comfortable with. There's a lot of support and camaraderie from other members.
If you had told me months ago that I would be going to 6am strength and conditioning workouts every week and enjoying it, I would not have believed you. I highly recommend GLSC, and I'm really glad that I joined!

I've been a member of this Gym for over 6 months. My experience has been extremely positive and I highly recommend joining. The gym offers group strength and conditioning classes, personal training, and an individualized design. As a busy professional, I love the individualized design where I get to work out with a smaller group, have access to my own coach who helps me with my goal setting, accountability, and who also creates a personalized workout that I've been quite successful in following.
The location is very convenient and the gym itself is clean, extremely well equipped, and the staff has been nothing but helpful and welcoming. They also have a great tech stack, I book my workouts on an app and my individualized exercise program gets sent to my phone, where I've been able to track my progress. All in all, it's been a great experience and I look forward to continue what feels like a partnership in my health and fitness with GLSC. My only regret is not having joined sooner!

I really like the instructors and the focus on community (e.g. hearing names and a little bit about a classmate, holiday events).
I joined to increase strength, particularly upper body. I am new to the barbell and slowly getting the form right.
I also like the scheduling policy. Flexible enough to accommodate life, but the 12 hour cancellation keeps me committed.

I joined the personalized small group classes. You start with 4 session 1 on 1 in person with a trainer who assesses your fitness levels, your goals and any special needs around injuries. Then your coach creates custom plans for you monthly that you work on in small group classes supervised by a coach.
My trainer is Chassi, who considered my previous recurring back injuries and PT advice. Thanks to the slow but steady ramp up
I'm in one of the longest pain free workout stretches I’ve had. I’m almost 2 months in working out 3x/week. I look forward to working out more and find it energizing. I’m liking that I burn more fat than I used to. Previously I’d hit peak in just the warm up of the regular CrossFit classes and I’d feel nauseous by the end of the class. I feel a good kind of tired now, no nausea.
My favorite small group class coach is Zeyab who proactively corrects your form and conducts a group warm up before we all do our own personal plans.

I've been a member of Green Lake Strength and Conditioning for about a year, and can't say enough good things about the gym. When I joined GLSC, I had plateaued from working out at home and was constantly nursing some sort of injury. The workouts at GLSC are challenging but also built to be sustainable. I've never had an injury here, can finally run pain free, and can lift more than I ever imagined I'd be able to.
The coaches are not only knowledgable but incredibly kind and fun. They foster an environment where you feel comfortable to push yourself and are always willing to provide modifications.
But, honestly the best part of the gym is the incredible community. This gym has become my third place. I always look forward to catching up with members who have become friends. This gym has made Seattle feel like home for me.

I absolutely love this gym. We’re relatively new to the area and new to this type of training but were introduced by our friend and neighbor, who has been a member for years. We were sold after the first class, and seven months later, we’ve never felt so healthy, physically and emotionally.
The training is amazing. The workouts are fun and challenging but accommodating to all fitness levels with a true focus on form and safety so that we can do this for years. The community is friendly and welcoming, and it didn’t take long before they felt like friends. We’re so grateful to Kate and Nate for the work they do!
*Great and safe during Covid with the ability to transform to an outdoor gym with small classes

I can't believe it's been 2 years since I first reviewed GLSC. We since had a baby and it's because of this gym, especially Coach Shaina, who has expertise in pregnancy and postpartum training, that I was able to stay active throughout pregnancy and recover after. It's hard to find trainers with this knowledge, and I can't recommend GLSC and Coach Shaina enough!

I have been a member with GLSC for just over a year now. The owners and coaches are all very passionate and accepting of meeting members wherever they are in the their fitness journey. The main workouts are CrossFit- like, but they also offer an array of other classes/ workshops to meet member’s input and interests.
I have also never been a member at a gym that prides itself of building and creating a sense of community with the members and neighbors.

So I came to this gym after moving to the neighborhood (admittedly with this gym in mind while househunting), did the on-ramp course which was a nice reminder of some lifts and safety, and then did the personalized group fitness (think personal training with fitness plans, but more autonomy, semi-regular checkins and dedicated time to come in to work with someone in a small group to fine tune), then moved to just the classes/indoor gym passes. It’s hard to find a gym that does true lifting classes like this, especially given their focus on mobility and bulletproofing, without going full CrossFit. I’m back to running pain free for the first time in years and I’ve gotten stronger cycling. It’s gotten me to do lifts I would not have entertained on my own, and the coaches do a great job of encouraging you to challenge yourself, while keeping it safe and offering different levels and modifications (i.e. can’t do a body weight push up modifications that aren’t just going to your knees). Classes are a good size and well structured so they don’t feel chaotic or unwelcoming, and really have people of every fitness level. Only thing I wish was that there were 1-3PM windows for even just indoor gym, but not a dealbreaker. It’s not your typical gym in terms of when you can show up, but that just means you’re going to have the space and the equipment you need to get your workout done.

I am going to preface this by saying it will read possibly more like a love letter…but I promise it is a gym review.
I was a devout gym member prior to COVID. I went 4-6 times per week. Paid for personal training. Met people I liked and enjoyed by classes. But was also often sad about the turnover rate. Fellow members seemed to stick around longer, but trainers were on a constant revolving door.
Then the lockdown happened. I worked out from home…on Zoom with some of those same fellow members of my gym or outside in parks. I could workout individually, but that was less fun and I definitely didn’t push myself as much. I looked forward to those workouts.
Fast forward to November of 2021 – a friend recommended this gym they had joined. I decided to give it a try, and I am so, so glad that I did. In the just over a year and a half that I have been a member of Green Lake Strength & Conditioning I have seen new coaches join and only one leave – for their dream job. I have met amazing people – coaches and members – and learned so many things about fitness and myself, about community.
GLSC isn’t a standard gym that is looking for increasing their member base on the assumption that a decent portion of those people won’t come to the gym to workout. They focus on building members up from their starting point – helping each person be stronger both physically and mentally than they were before. They believe in fun…finding the things to celebrate whether that be with birthday burpees (a tradition that sounds horrible but is so lovely) or a community potluck. They believe that the best program is about coaching – supporting people to do the movements well, rather than just “get heavy”.
Things I have learned include: my only competition is really myself – to have better form or be faster/stronger than previous me; to pay attention to specific details and the rest will come; to put things back where they belong (okay, I already knew that…but it’s important to take care of the space you’re in); that there is always time for dogs (also: cats); that I only cheat myself if I skip reps/cut something short; to listen to my body; to push myself a little beyond what I *think* I can do (because I can probably do it); that sometimes it is nice to commiserate mid-workout with someone going through the same thing; that having another place where you can connect with people and do something you love is incredibly important.
I am moving out of the country next week. I will miss my friends and family, obviously. But, honestly? The thing that makes me the most sad is moving away from my gym family. Because that is what GLSC is – a family. People who support you, cheer you on, celebrate your strengths & push you to work on your weaknesses, laugh with you, sweat with you, cry with you. You will not find a better gym, or better people. And if that doesn’t get you…there are adorable dogs in and out of that place all day. Come for the dogs, stay for the community & the fitness.

I have tried out many gyms and GLSC is far and away the best I have ever had a membership at. The staff are encouraging but also great at coaching form, the workouts are created well for using different skills and muscle groups and for strength progression, and the community is fantastic. I find it extremely disappointing that if you interesting in checking out the gym, all you “get” is a free meeting with a coach for 30 minutes to assess your goals and walk around the facility. There’s no workout whatsoever but then they ask you to pay up for a month without ever having tried a workout there. $350 upfront for a gym I’ve never tried out aside from speaking with a coach is ridiculous. They say it’s to discourage people from just dropping in and not being a regular part of the community. But I’ve been to plenty of gyms where people are trying it out without interfering with the community. Plus, the most basic monthly membership costs thousands a year. It’s like buying a used car without getting to test drive it (unless you wanna pay $40 to drop in). No thanks.

But now, after a month, this has become a place I look forward to go to after a long tiring work day. This gym has provided a safe space (both physically and mentally) to build strength! I've been a member of the gym for two years and I have yet to get bored. The coaches facilitate a positive environment and most importantly, they won't let you get hurt. All coaches have the ability to spot when your form isn't right and they work with you to ensure your safety. That could mean a small tweak in your form or suggestions to go down in weight/use no weight at all.

Retired college athlete here: missed the feeling of working out with a team, and that’s something GLSC definitely offers! The community is great and you deff get to know the coaches really well. It’s been awesome to workout with others in a group setting and know they’re pushing themselves and you at the same time. I wasn’t able to do a group on-ramp due to work schedule and so I worked with a coach 1 on 1. It was really great to go over the lifts again, even if you’re new to Olympic lifts, all the coaches really emphasize good technique, review the moves, and offer alternatives every class. I recently went on a hike with a friend and even after 2 months I feel a huge difference. Was not as winded and I thought I would be, and I felt really strong the entire time.

The on-ramp course is great, even for people who have a fair amount of gym experience since there's bound to be some technique points you forgot, or new movements for you to learn.
The classes themselves are structured very well, and the coaches all are able to find a balance between pushing you and making sure you have a solid foundation and are taking care of your body throughout the workouts and new movements.

Pushes one to do exercises they wouldn't haven't done on their own and coaches correct if one has improper form. It's great to have something routine and different to push one's cardiovascular health combined with strength training

This gym is hands down the best! My spouse and I joined about 3 months ago and are blown away by the GLSC team and community. The coaches are knowledgeable and attuned to the individual's needs. The classes are small with great programming. The community is welcoming, supportive, and (unlike a lot of strength training gyms) doesn't encourage people to push past their limits. There is a lot of body and skill diversity so I never feel out of place in a class and really appreciate the coaches providing guidance to ensure every movement is done without harm to self or others. I love knowing that every time I show up, I'll leave the gym feeling better than when I entered. I am happy to call this gym home!

I love this place! When I came to the gym, I was recommended by a friend who wanted a program that was instructional as much as it was oriented toward fitness. I had the same goals, so I decided to give it a try.
GLS&C exceeded all my expectations. The on-ramp course delivers a ton of info in a short time, and the classes, with the coaches there to help, really reinforce the concepts and exercises you learn.
The best part of the gym is the community of attendees and coaches is universally supportive and friendly. The staff does a great job of fostering a diverse community of people with different backgrounds and different goals who are all there to do their best and cheer you on as you go.
I have a great time working out here, and would recommend it to anyone.

I’ve now completed a month at GLSC and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to build strength, get in better shape, or take their fitness to the next level in group-class type of setting. What stands about GLSC is the attention Nate and his group of fantastic trainers offer in ensuring participants learn and perform the exercises in the right form. Good people and good vibes.
I look forward to building strength and community at GLSC.

If you are looking for small group sessions with great coaches, this place is it. It’s a good place to learn all the nuances of weight based training. The place is well maintained, coaches are attentive and the people there are pretty friendly. The workout of the day is available on an app which is a a plus if you want to decide when to go based on your workout preference. I have enjoyed my time at this gym.

I was looking for a gym that did not overwhelm me as a beginner while also getting to learn the ropes. Right from the start I was assigned my accountability buddy Shilo who helped me find the right program for me. I am currently doing 10 personal sessions with Coach Chassi, we are on the 8th one. She very knowledgeable which is not surprising considering she is a physiotherapist with tons of coaching experience. She makes sure I understand how exercises should look and feel on my body and how to be safe while doing them. She is patient and diligent even if I make the same mistake a 100th time. The gym is well equipped and the people here have really uplifting positive energy.

I feel so lucky to have found Green Lake Strength & Conditioning! I had been searching for a gym for about a year and couldn't find the right fit until I found Green Lake Strength and Conditioning. The community at the gym is so welcoming and supportive. The coaches are helpful in providing guidance to ensure moves are being done correctly and to help avoid injuries. The workouts are unique and a good mix of skills and strength. A great gym!

While I started my fitness journey with Orangetheory and F45, it wasn't till I tried CrossFit that I started to get regular feedback from the coaches about my form. Green Lake Strength & Conditioning isn't technically a CrossFit gym, but they have incorporated the best parts of it into their programming!
– The classes are relatively small, usually no more than 10 people.
– The programming is decently varied, so every week you get to work on different skills, mobility, endurance vs strength, etc. Resulting in a very well-rounded program.
– The first half of the class focuses on skill development and mobility, which is crucial in injury prevention! Coupled with the smaller class size, it gives the coaches plenty of time to give you personalized feedback.
– The second half is the "WOD". Usually multiple sets of a workout that varies in intensity depending on the programming (high, med, low: high is more cardio-focused, low is more strength-focused).

Had four 1:1 onboarding sessions with Coach Nate who made me go through all the motions, helping me work on my form, getting me prepped for the groups classes. The group classes have been fantastic! I’ve had classes with Coaches Tracy, Laura & Russ so far, and they all created a fun environment, and payed a lot of individual attention as well. Keeping a 3 classes per week schedule seems like a good frequency, and I honestly already feel the benefits just 2 weeks in. I’m an avid runner with a desk job. So I’ve been struggling with keeping good posture when running instead of hunching my shoulders. Just a few weeks of classes & I find that my back’s more straight during runs. Highly recommend!

GSLC is great - friendly coaches and community, good variety of workouts, ample new and clean equipment, and plenty of classes throughout the day so there's always time to get a workout in. I moved out of the neighborhood, otherwise I'd absolutely still be going there.
They also did a spectacular job safely handling the pandemic, managing to stay open for the majority of it while providing folks with space to social distance, appropriate mask requirements, and lots of ventilation with the roll-up doors. GSLC being open was a total lifesaver for 2020 and 2021, just having *somewhere* to get out of the house and to get a workout in.

I came to this gym before the pandemic when it was Crossfit. I Injured my shoulder once during a workout (completely my fault went to PT and am cleared now) I thought I could lift the same amount I had been after having a taken a break for 3 weeks. Well, this past summer I had a few instances when I felt really weak. I could not throw a ball without pain, could not walk my dog, and sadly could not sleep on my shoulder. Well, I tried GLS and the changes have been so positive. The workouts just fly, all the coaches are awesome in their own way, my workouts have been adjusted so I can slowly make my shoulder stronger, and I've been able to finally sleep on my shoulder without waking up in pain. I'm feeling much more functional and strong.

Aside from all benefits of regular exercise, GLSC fills my need for a “third place”, an idea in sociology that everyone needs somewhere that’s not work, not home, where low-stakes chit-chat is available and makes you recognize you are a part of a larger community. Coach Zeyab’s question of the day like “is a hotdog is a sandwich” might be meaningless on the surface, but hearing everyone’s opinion makes GLSC feel like a place where I’m among friends.

I just completed 3 sessions of private instruction for ramp up to join group classes. I just wanted to let it be known that the trainer, Mikaela, did a wonderful job showing me the necessary movements, explaining terminology, correcting bad habits with form, and running me through a short AMRAMP workout to demonstrate pacing. I’d like to complement her professionalism, knowledge, and ability to correct or/and show alternative options. She has set the bar, no pun intended, high and I’m excited to join classes soon.

I love this gym and cannot recommend it enough!
If you’re new to weightlifting/HIIT-type workouts, consider taking the On-Ramp course. You learn exercises at a slow pace and in a small group. I also loved the course because it helps build community in the gym – you can attend classes already knowing someone! Love it.
They are all about doing the best you can, whatever that may look like for each person. They always show modifications for moves. The coaches encouryou to do what feels good and to do each movement accurately and safely. I also appreciate the tips and props you get during the workouts :)
The most meaningful thing for me is how warm, welcoming, and inclusive the owners and coaches are. As a plus-size woman, at previous gyms I was treated disrespectfully, so I was nervous to try this one... and I’m thrilled I did. They focus on building community and ensuring everyone feels like they belong there, no matter where they are in their journey <3
Shout out to coaches Mikela & Zeyab, thank you for being awesome!

While providing a welcoming and supportive environment, Green Lake Strength and Conditioning is committed to excellence in their programming and maintaining well trained professional coaches. Coaches engage with members throughout classes offering encouragement, tips and help as needed. Aspects about this gym that most resonate for me, are the feelings of friendship and community, variety in the programming, and workouts that are both very challenging and fun!

This gym has a fantastic philosophy that centers health & wellbeing. This is a reformed Crossfit gym that dials back the aggression to match the demographics of the neighborhood (30's and up) so you don't blow your back out or pull a hernia every Tuesday. The instructors are emotionally intelligent and will push at a pace that's in line with what the client will tolerate. Clean, professional, inclusive.

I've been going to GLSC for about two months now and love it. It has given me another form of exercise other than my regular distance running. I've noticed some serious increases in strength and have lost 8 pounds. But the best part of all is the community. This isn't a grunt and scream gym. It's a place where normal people go to improve their physical well being under expert instruction. Tuesday mornings are especially fun because Tracy coaches then and has an incredibly goofy, yet genuine way of motivating you to go harder. Also, they love dogs which, you know, is the true sign of a good business.

Been going to GLSC for about 2 months now --- and it has been AWESOME! As someone with limited previous lifting experience, I have found all of the trainers to be extremely helpful and willing to take the time to work with me to get the form/technique down before adding more weight.
Classes cover a lot of different types of workouts and are pretty challenging (although the trainers always provide ways to lower/increase the difficulty which is great))!

I have really enjoyed going to this gym. The space is well-maintained, clean, and the multiple garage doors provide a nice breeze. They specialize in Crossfit-like workouts in 1-hour classes. The instructors of these classes do a nice job to emphasize technique, safety, and functional strength over pulling huge weights. I'm not an expert or super-duper fit, but I felt welcome there. It's a little bit expensive when compared to a do-it-yourself gym, but I found it to be worth it.

I've been a part of this gym for 3 months, and it's been wonderful. I was working out at home with only dumbbells, no physical training experience, and was stumbling my way through trying to learn form. I learned of this Gym and signed up for their Onramp course.
Their Onramp class was valuable enough honestly to take it on it's own without joining the gym. The form corrections, the workout knowledge, and the building blocks of lifting were things I wish I knew when I started working out alone in my livingroom 9 months ago.
The classes afterwards are equally great. Every time I work out I get form advice and feel it super hard the next day. Everyone is friendly, LGBT friendly, and there's even dogs who get to hang out (safely, to the side) as we work out.
The amount of strength I'm able to gain just from correcting my poor form is outstanding. There's still a lot more to go, but I've grown so much since working here and I thank the coaches of GLSC for doing a great job.
Thanks Coach Z & team for being awesome!

I’ve joined (and then not gone to) many gyms in my adult life. Greenlake strength and conditioning has been my favorite by far and my T/F classes are a weekly highlight! I was nervous to join a strength and conditioning gym, having always been a simple elliptical gal. Not only have my nerves vanished, I look forward to going to classes every week! The coaches are incredibly patient and supportive. GLSC feels more like a community of strength than a gym. I greatly appreciate Greenlake’s commitment to making our community stronger (figuratively and literally).
