JUST-SHOW-UP Those were the 3 key words I heard from Marisa when I reached out to join HHbM September 2022. At that time I was feeling pretty down and out about my health and well being, I was 61 years old, more than 100 lbs overweight and quickly becoming less and less mobile. I knew I needed to make big changes, but knew I was good at joining but better at quitting. That was more than 2- 1/2 years ago! Today I have lost (and kept off ) more than 100 lbs, and have increased mobility, strength and balance. I attend class 2 times a week. There are days I push to my limits and other days I just dance it out, but I SHOW UP. The physical changes are wonderful but what keeps me showing up week after week is the community that is HHbM, the other members, who welcome and support me, that have celebrated my successes and encouraged me every step of the way. At almost 65 years old my world has changed given the new found strength, flexibility and balance. I live an active life, filled with gratitude for each day.

I have been going to HHbM for about 6 months now and I absolutely am in love with everything about Marissa, the community she’s created and my workouts at her gym. I did a ton of research before deciding on HHbM and it was the best decision hands down. I was quite happy with another gym I belonged to, however a change in my lifestyle and responsibilities changed and it was no longer a good fit for me. HHbM is truly so much more than a gym. When you see reviews that say Marisa changed their life… they mean it! Marisa has changed my outlook on fitness for the better. I used to use the gym as punishment to my body for looking the way I did. Now my mindset has completely shifted thanks to Marisa. I joined Marisa's gym at the beginning of 2024. At the time, my goal was to lose weight from what I had gained during the covid lockdowns. I've now been a member for nearly a year and a half. On top of getting into better shape, and the incredibly versatile workouts that she provides, I feel a sense of community and belonging at her place which has been so encouraging and uplifting. She recognizes everyone's fitness is at different levels, so there is not a 'one size' fits all mentality at her gym. For every workout, she shows us a variety of modifications and encourages the group to pick what works best for them, yet at the same time wants people to challenge themselves if they are up for it.

She is incredibly adaptable as well; you want to switch classes? No problem – she'll make it happen. You're running late? Do you need to leave early? Again, no problem. She will welcome and say goodbye to you with a big smile. You can tell she truly wants you to show up.

One thing about Marisa that everyone should know is that she genuinely cares about your well-being. She is personable, non-judgmental, a fantastic teacher and truly a master at her craft. Along with having such a welcoming and inviting gym, she is a true professional and expert in wellness – not only in the physical sense, but mentally too – she radiates positivity and empowers you.

Most recently, I participated in her Happy Hour by Marisa (HHbM) challenge at the end of January, which is an annual program she offers for anyone who wants to participate. I lost 7lbs and 5.5 inches, and with her consistent encouragement, group support, and shared recipe ideas, I was able to make healthy, sustainable changes. The challenge helped me reset and shift my mindset, starting the year feeling strong and supported!

2024 update: I’ve been training with Marisa for 5 years and at every class, I experience a different, full body workout that leaves me feeling amazing. I keep going back to her though because of her philosophy towards exercise. Marisa celebrates everyone’s current capabilities, while still encouraging us to become stronger. Over the years, I’ve watched my “heavy weights” become my “light weights” and I credit Marisa with helping my mindset towards exercise become healthier and more positive. (2021) I am so happy I stumbled upon this gem of a gym almost two years ago. When I first walked inside, I could tell it was a special community... every age, ability, and body type is welcomed, supported, and encouraged. It's honestly the first fitness place I've been where I didn't initially feel intimidated. Marisa makes it clear it's your body, your workout and she is there to help you achieve your goals. When I've been unsure about how to properly do an exercise, she takes the time to coach me through it. When I need to up my workout, she's the voice in my head challenging me. In this past year, I have been most impressed with how Marisa has adapted her business in covid times. Her Virtual HHbM workouts have been a sanity saver for me, and her pre-workout pep talks balance positivity with acknowledgement that we are all going through a tough time. I have been coming to HHBM for so many years, I cannot even count (easily over 10). I found Marisa leading an early morning boot camp class when i had my twins 17 years ago and have not stopped following her since. She works very hard to make each day different and yet still give you a full body workout. Over the years I have decided to try places closer to my home, but I always come back to Marisa because she is the best instructor/owner I have ever met. She works with everyone at their level and she will tell you if your form is incorrect so you do not hurt yourself. She provides both an in person classes and recorded classes so you never have an excuse why you could not work out. In fact, I told her that when she calls out my name in the classes, it keeps me on going. Now, the recorded classes all have her calling out my name!
This is a place for people of all shapes and sizes. It is welcoming for everyone. I come to this place for mental health, as well as, physical health. When I do not show up, Marisa reaches out to me. She makes me feel seen.

That to me is the best part because finding time to work out can be hard and since the workouts are recorded, I can do my work out when it fits into my schedule. I’ve worried about my body for nearly my whole life - always with the one goal of making it shrink. I therefore have had a complicated relationship with working out. It hasn’t been until the last few years that I’ve been able to separate needing to workout for my mental and physical health from needing the burn calories to be thin. Happy Hour by Marisa is a beautiful fit for me in this. She celebrates every body at every level. She asks us to show up for ourselves, work hard for ourselves and to listen to what we need for that day. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that this makes her classes easy. They are not! You are asked to push yourself and be grateful that you have a body that can rise to the occasion. I will hear, “Get it Sug” or “I see you Sug” at every class whether I’m in person or virtual and I can’t tell you what a difference it makes to be seen! I started coming to HHbM in 2015. I loved her workouts, attitude/outlook and everything about the community she has built. In 2018 I became a flight attendant, moved to Las Vegas and my life got crazy! I started at a new gym in Las Vegas and it was cool but I was missing HHbM. Fast forward to 2020 when Covid changed the world. Marisa started her virtual workouts and in person workouts. The virtual workouts were and are the BEST thing that could ever happen to me! Regardless of where I am in the world I have access to hundreds of recorded workouts and can do live workouts in the comfort of my home in Las Vegas! I've been a client at HHbM for over 7 years and I cannot rave about it enough. I have a hip replacement and chronic pain which have been helped enormously by working out. I still struggle but Marisa Mancke encourages everyone that it's not about what you can't do but what you CAN do.

She provides a wide range of fitness classes from bootcamps to step aerobics, cardio and weight training to specialty classes. She offers several ways to connect each month from single classes to unlimited access with no long term contracts. Super charged fun and fitness at the same time. Come in and check it out.
