Before 2025, I went to the gym in fits and starts, hired the occasional trainer, read (and watched) plenty of “how to” content. I am a pretty fit person, but mostly aerobically. I really couldn’t make the gym or strength training work consistently, but because I’m “healthy” it didn’t really seem to matter, which I realized is a recipe for late life limitations and pain. So I set one goal for 2025 - go to the gym enough to miss it when I missed it. To meet that goal I picked the closest gym and Julia. I figured easy access would help meet the goal and Julia was beyond qualified to help me distinguish between barbell, dumbbell and kettlebell. I had no idea how much dumb luck would be a game changer for my strength, fitness, and day-to-day life. Simply put, Julia is amazing, and getting to work with her is one of the single best decisions I made in nearly 50 years of fitness decisions. She’s an excellent and patient teacher. She can push you when you need it and coddle you when you need that instead. She knows no two days are the same and tailors her approach TO YOU, not some generic set of metrics. She’s generous with all of her energy - for your fitness goals, for sure, but also far beyond that - and relentlessly (but realistically) positive. She devotes boundless energy to get to know you so she can apply her talents to your whole person and all of your goals. If you’ve ever been intimidated by the gym, call Julia. I have to admit, as an older, overweight, and very out of shape person, I was a bit intimidated to get back to the gym with a personal trainer. From the minute I spoke with Julia she put me at ease. Julia is an incredible trainer, coach, and cheerleader! I started working with her in 2023 to get back in the gym after a really bad arm break. She has been so wonderful to work with, always finding alternative movements and cheering me on. I’m back up to where I was strength-wise on a lot of lifts, all thanks to Julia! I've been training with Julia for a couple of months now, and it's been life-changing in the most literal sense!
A little background: my doctor had recommended that I start a weight training regimen to help alleviate the chronic back pain I'd been battling for months. As a "cardio guy" who'd practically never touched a barbell in his life, and given the fragile state of my back, I felt like I needed someone to safely teach me the ropes. That's what prompted me to search for a personal trainer--and I'm so glad that Julia is the person who I found.
From our very first session, I knew I was in the hands of a true expert who I could trust. Julia is just so personable and warm--an all-around great human who takes a genuine interest in your life and makes you feel heard. The training program she built for me has felt perfectly tuned to my needs and the issues I was experiencing. Patience is something I struggle with, but Julia has been great at urging me to slow down a little and focus on fundamentals. She's deeply analytical about form, and her advice and adjustments have helped me progress quickly and safely into lifting heavier weights. It's been an intense process that has taken me pretty far outside my comfort zone, but not once has it felt like it was unsafe for my back or beyond my capabilities.
Julia also goes far above and beyond with communication. She checks in multiple times a week to see how I'm feeling and adjusts our training regimen based on my how I'm feeling and the progress I've been making.
At risk of this sounding like a cheesy testimonial, I can honestly say that I'm feeling better and stronger than I have in years -- not just my back (knock on wood), but holistically. I now look forward to going to the gym, which is something I could've never imagined just months ago--and Julia's played a huge role in that mental transformation! Julia has been my coach now for 4 months, and it has been the best for months of my life.
Prior to having Julia as my coach, I was a body builder who then was in a life changing accident & lost the ability to walk for 6 months. I had to have major surgery on my leg and learn how to do everything from walking to working out again. That happened three years ago, and since then, my overall fitness has never been the same.
I was uneven and lacked functional strength. I also had an obsession of working out due to fear of never being able to work out again.
With all of this in mind, Julia stepped into my life, and it's been incredible. We actually met over our love of desserts; and then our passion for dogs and working out.
Since she has become my coach, I have almost doubled my strength, my muscles are symmetric, I feel confident in and out of the gym, and more importantly, I feel mentally balanced.
She has not only made me a better "athelet," but she has made my quality of life better. I no longer worry about "did I work out hard enough"- my workouts are purposeful and challenging. I feel physically, emotionally, and mentally stronger.

I came to Julia with the goal of getting in shape. I was interested in nothing more than losing weight. However, I got much more than just weight loss out of the program. I learned about proper nutrition which enabled me to get through workouts with much more ease. Pre- training, I considered myself to be un-athletic and worried that I would not be able to make it through the program. Not only did I make it through the program, but I consider myself to be athletic after all! Post-program I enjoy: weightlifting, HIIT, dancing, and even running! I can’t imagine trusting a coach like I trust Julia. Since the day I reached out to her to learn more about her training and nutrition services she’s shown the deep commitment she feels to her clients.
Julia isn’t in this to put her clients through extreme, unhealthy protocol just to attract more clients like the vast majority of fitness coaches are these days. In fact, she’s the opposite. She takes the time and emotional energy to teach her clients patience, teach them basic nutrition science so they understand why each decision is made, and is always there to encourage and support clients through any roadblocks that may come up. She masterfully balances helping her clients reach their goals in a satisfactory timeframe and ensuring they get healthier (both mentally and physically) throughout the process.
