About the Club

Though Kokoro Yoga itself is a one teacher operation, and quite a small one at that, a variety of class styles are offered including various forms of Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Flow, and Kundalini Yoga. As the Japanese word, "kokoro" (it means heart/mind, center/essence) suggests, my intention always is to teach from my heart, with the emphasis of accommodating you wherever you're at. I also aim to cultivate a sense of community and camaraderie in each class, meaning you can look forward to tea being served after most classes. I also offer regular Women’s Full Moon circles and events that include sound healing with gongs and crystal bowls.

Ruby is a beautiful, light presence. She clearly cares deeply for her studio and clients, offering the most lovely details: wonderful tea, a clean, loved space and props. Her classes are filled with mindful breathing and yogic philosophy, bringing many elements of the practice to light which are lost in many Westernized yoga studios. It's lovely to see someone bringing the true meaning of yoga to a Western environment. Very soothing to the soul.

Ruby's studio is in a great location, in a beautiful space, and she really brings people together. Her warmth and creativity, her voice and sense of humor, always make my day better.

Ruby is the most enthusiastic and attentive yoga instructor I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. Her classes are the highlight of my week as they leave me feeling energized and confident. The modifications she provides during class are suitable for people of any skill level or body type. I highly recommend her vinyasa classes. Thank you Ruby!

I have been attending Ruby's classes since January 2015. At first I only went once a week, but beginning in February I started going twice a week. I have "practiced" yoga half-heartedly, off and on, with several different teachers. Ruby is the best teacher I have ever had. There are several reasons why I will continue to work with Ruby. First, she is patient with those of us who are not so adept; she helps us find ways to participate without feeling left out by those who are more advanced. Second, she is very good at adapting each day's practice to accommodate the needs of her students whether they are having lower back, neck, shoulder (or whatever) problems; she begins the class with a plan and works in poses that will help the students there that day. This is especially true of the Gentle Yoga session. Third, she completely understands the various systems of the human body and teaches us how the various poses will benefit these systems. Fourth, she has a thorough and complete knowledge of the practice of yoga. Finally, her spirit of calm confidence and peace permeates each session. In sum, Ruby is a wonderful teacher!

I’ve been attending Ruby’s yoga classes for several years. My favorite classes are her Tuesday morning womens’ Kundalini and Saturday morning mixed Kundalini classes. Each month Ruby does a different kriya which focuses on strengthening the nervous system, balancing the glandular system, purifying the body, and calming the mind. At the end of each class we sing a lovely song and have tea. What a great way to start the day!

Ruby is a great teacher and one of the sweetest and caring people I know. She takes the time to get to know her students and is very good at incorporating their needs into her lessons and showing modifications.

Ruby’s studio is conveniently located in downtown Bellingham. It is very spacious and well-lit. The exposed bricks and beams and wood floors give it a rustic feel. Recent renovations include new facilities and heating.

Thank you Ruby!

I find myself feeling more and more joyful about the Kundalini class or Full Moon Mediatation I am about to attend, with each step I take up the stairs to Ruby's studio! I appreciate that the class is not all about the asana but also incorporates breath work, chanting and meditation. Ruby has created a sweet and supportive community around her offerings and it is truly a pleasure to attend everything she offers. In fact, her classes have become so important in my life that little, very little, trumps my going!

My weekly yoga session on Wednesdays at 5:30 with Ruby is just what my body needs. She allows for different intensity with most of the poses, so the sessions are suitable for many different body types, levels of fitness and moods. Without yoga I am uncomfortable so am so glad that Ruby offers sessions that are so reliable and affordable. Great location downtown. The studio is spacious! And Ruby is full of love and creativity! Uplifting on many levels. THANK YOU, Ruby!

I have found knowledgeable, friendly instructors at Inspire Studio who offer a variety of classes for students, ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
Instructors skillfully guide students to their own levels of competency through a series of smooth, continuous flow of poses .
In addition to teaching the technical aspects of yoga poses, instructors add a more subtle aspect, allowing students to attain a relaxed or spiritual level during the practice.
This is all done in a studio that is spacious and has a warm sense of character.
