One of the worst gyms I've ever been to. First of all, the staff are incompetent. I went one day, asked a question, and was completely ignored; they were just talking amongst themselves. The new manager is a girl who doesn't know what work is; she just hangs around her boyfriend, who works there. I wanted information, I wanted to talk to the manager, and it wasn't just once, but twice. Maybe her boyfriend was going to the bathroom, and she'd follow him. I only lasted my first month and quit. Management needs to take action because if they're not doing anything, the staff are busy talking to customers about anything but helping those who just want a yes or no answer. I'm calling on management and those in charge. I don't know who's monitoring this gym, but it's definitely a terrible experience, and many other people who said they were going to stop going to this gym feel the same way.

If could give less than one star, I absolutely would. The front desk attendant SADIE and the general manager Eric were some of the most unprofessional staff I’ve ever had the displeasure of working with. The men’s locker room had absolutely no soap in any of the sinks and thus guests were using their feces and urine stained hands on the doors and machines. When I went to the front desk to ask for them to help, Sadie and Eric were flirting behind the desk and were visibly and audibly frustrated that I dare interrupt their conversation. Sadie then went on to say that “if you were nicer I would change the soap but I’m not going to now.” Regardless of any perceived attitude I may have had (I didn’t, I was rather polite) that doesn’t take away from the fact you have people with urine and feces on their hands without a proper means to clean themselves.

Machines are constantly broken and take months to fix. The bathrooms only offer cold showers. The staff is wildly incompetent and rude and shows no signs of any accountability. I am glad to have cancelled my services with this site and moved to the Fitness 19 in West Seattle - they’re very kind and proactive and responsive to feedback. Oh and there’s always soap.

Just gave my aunt a 7 day pass and on the 2nd day she is stopped and insisted to get membership. I asked to add another guest which they advertise but no they dont wanna do that. The manager has no shame that a client is going back because of a guest who does have a pass before making her mind to join the club. Its clear that it is a race thing. Wasnt expecting racism in gym. The gym is pretty crowded that u have to wait for any machine to use. Bathrooms are a mess. Shower curtains are ripped and some have no curtains at all.

Once again the Burien LA fitness is in violation of WAC 246-260-131 2d. Soap is required to shower before entering the pool and once again the men's locker room had no soap in any shower or any sink. There was also no soap in the shared pool area shower. This is a regular occurrence here. Will file a complaint health department shortly.

My husband and I were members for less than 3 months. It is over crowded and stinky. The customer service from the front desk is not just awful it is basically non-existantand and the fitness coaches barely work with you. No one there communicates with customers, so never expect a call back if you have a question or need to schedule an appointment I would not recommend LA Fitness, especially this location, after our experience here. Also, they required us to cancel in person!

Don't forget to collect all your staff once done your workout if you do, YOU WILL NEVER EVER GET IT BACK, once I forgot my grip, next time a student bus card, and my lifting belt that was pretty expensive, in different time period all these happened and there is no lost and found staff. Everytime I meet the front desk they have no idea where your staff is. In addition, most of the time there is no paper towels, and equipments damage takes long time to fix and ....

I don't mind coming here to do what I need to do. But after my quick workout I take a shower, with me being disabled it's hard for me to stand up for long periods of time so the handicapped shower is always acting up and I bring it up but it goes thru one ear out the other. This does makes me mad. Something needs to be done about it.

The behavior at the front desk was unacceptable. When my phone was taking time to load the check-in page, the staff member, Sadiee , refused to resolve the situation through the computer as is normally done. Instead, she took my phone from my hand without permission, only to repeat the same steps I had already tried. In the end, she had to complete the check-in on the computer, which should have been the first step.

Taking a customer’s personal device without consent is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Management should also pay attention to the numerous Google reviews mentioning her by name, all describing similar rude and dismissive behavior. Someone who consistently treats customers this way should not be managing the membership department. It is unfortunate to see this lack of professionalism in a role that represents the first impression of the gym. Hopefully, she can find happiness, calm, or even a different job that better suits her, but customers deserve respectful service.

If I could give them a negative star rating I would. This gym is not worth your money! I went to this gym for over 2 years. During that time the machines were continually broken and were not fixed sometimes for months. This past year the hot water was broken for the showers for over 3 months. So you could only take a cold shower. The front desk associates were rude and were usually on their phone when I was checking in or trying to get information about classes. I decided to cancel my membership. I went in and was told there was not a manager who could cancel it but they would take my information and give it to a manager as soon as they arrived that evening. The front desk forgot to give the manager the paper with my info and so I got charged again. I went in to discuss this with the manager. I told her the exact time and date I was in as well as a description of the employee. She told me it never happened and refused to refund any money. She did not offer anything to help and was very condescending. It was so disappointing but honestly not surprising given the overall quality of the gym.

Every day, more and more machines are out of order, including a vending machine, the water fountain (which is generally our of order and the only one that can be used to fill up your water bottles), the safety boxes, not to mention the audio-video system on the treadmills, and more than ten exercise machines have an one point been out of order.... When I see more improvements, I will update my review. For now, it is annoying that sometimes there isn't toilet paper in the bathroom or wipes to clean up the equipment.
The machine in the picture has been out of order for two months!
Update, even though six months or more have passed since my last review, regrettably little to nothing has changed.

I wanted a gym near my new home, but feel sad entering this one—hot, smelly, lacks cleanliness, overcrowded weights/outdated equipment and is rather run down.

That's all stuff I can deal with, but what compelled the poor review: the systems behind sales/management.

Two weeks ago, I was "green lighted" into a Pilates class at no cost to try it out. (It was a great perk to have that option!) I enjoyed it. I went for details and although I had seen a prior "promotional rate" advertised, I had no problem accepting the now standard rate of $119/month vs. $99.

I went through lengthy forms, signatures (no joke, I had to sign things more than when buying a car.) I understood the fee's, reservation system, etc.

Then last week—
Monday: Signed up for Tuesday, and "waitlist" for Thursday.
Tuesday: Great class (but no check in process.)
Thursday: receive marketing call for pilates classes at $99/month. I asked why I wasn't offered that and was transferred to the manager Erik who explained it was a mistake. It was an old offer and he'd address it... seemed odd.
Thursday evening: emailed that I was charged $15 for the "waitlisted" class. I was never notified I was added to. I called, was told the manager needed to address it and again, Erik would call me back Friday morning.
Friday Afternoon: No call back, so I reach back out. Erik's on lunch, told he will call me back before 3pm. Never hear anything.
Monday 1PM: I call back to check in, Erik says to just assume I'm in the class if I put myself on the waitlist. No process, no opportunity to decline. That I just need to call each time I get charged for a class I get added to that I can't make. Really? After all those forms, this is how waitlists work?
Monday 2:30PM: Receive the SAME marketing call offering me classes for $99/month. I ask the sales gal to speak to Erik directly. She backtracks, claims its not the full price with tax... which I said, my starting price was $119. Why am I on the list if I already purchased? I work in marketing/sales myself—poor tactics and very untrustworthy behavior toward a client. I wait to talk with Erik again—he's clearly frustrated with me. Said he refunded the $15 for the "missed class", but unwilling to say anything about the promotional rate. Mostly just given a lecture on he's the manager.

I get this is a winding story and I likely am in the midst of high frustration myself—but I'm shocked at the lack of customer service and unprofessional follow up. LA Fitness Burien management has lost my trust. I wish I loved my neighborhood gym as I have in other cities I've lived, but unfortunately this gym has a long way to go to live up to their brand's core values of promoting health and well-being, providing a superior and affordable fitness experience, and fostering an innovative, customer-centric approach.

I was stoked and ready for my workout; my buddy was waiting inside for me, I had just arrived and had to use the bathroom. When I walked into La Fitness, Burien, I was greeted and I let the front desk person know that my buddy was a member and he was in the building; I let her know that I would be right back as I needed to use the restroom. As I proceeded to walk towards the bathroom that’s when Sadee enters the scene. Sadee was very rude and condescending In her approach she very quickly let me know “we don’t have public restrooms here”, I then proceeded to let her, know that I was meeting a buddy and that also, I had already been to this gym in the past. Sadee made me wait for my buddy to walk up and the rudeness continued. My buddy proceeded to let Sadee know that he was a member and that he had used a pass to get me in in the past he was trying to figure out how to get me in again, and Sadee was very rude in explaining to us the process of how my buddy could get me in through his app. Sadee was terrible work with and her attitude and rudeness was very uncalled for. I’ve been working in customer service for nearly 20 years and there a right and a wrong way to come across. Sadee get a gets a no star review from me and if I had the ability to give her a negative star rating I would.

Today bummed me out so much. My friend drove from Bremerton to Burien to workout with me. I was in the locker room so he wasn’t allowed to use the restroom which was fair and we both agreed. Then I get up there and scan again, and my friend is on the cusp of having an accident from waiting so long to use the restroom. I asked politely if he could use the restroom while I finished checking him in since he is in my account already.

Sadee and the other gal did not allow it, but was was really irksome was the lack of empathy, and the “if you don’t like it too bad” attitude.

We are both business directions so we understand rules, but we were acting in good faith, and we were not dressed in a way that should’ve given any impression we were loitering.

I visit this gym regularly.

Sadee said, if you don’t like it you can talk to my manager, I don’t care they’re going to agree with me.

Again, I had already scanned in twice and was as willing to go by the rules as possible. If you aren’t in a reasonable mood perhaps call out.

Please order more bars for your equipment! There are not enough to for all the equipment. You have more benches and squat racks than bars. By my last count there are only 5. This causes a wait nearly every time and any time of day. So frustrating.

Update: this gym continues to be horrible. The bathroom is constantly trashed and disgusting. Wet wipes for the machines are out more often than not. The front desk staff has high turn over and is mostly lacking in basic customer service, not greeting or even looking up from their phone. The gym takes forever to repair broken machines. The positive is they are open until 11pm Monday thru Thursday and they have a decent amount of equipment.

If you have kids, don’t ever join this gym. The person who works in the kids club quit and they didn’t even bother informing parents. I went in and all they said was we don’t have anyone to watch your kids. The guy who works at the front desk reached out to the manager and she told him to call his coworkers. I planned my day around it and woke up early to workout and they didn’t even bother resolving the issue.

You can be discriminated against and judged by your appearance. I went for the free days, they asked me for $20 per day and when I confronted them with what is in the app, one of the employees said to me it is not their job to tell me what is in the app, this is a business!!!! Man, we want to collect money. I don't want to mention the employee's name here to give him a chance to review his approach and deal with customers with humanity and dedication, maybe it will bring him people's love, money and respect. There are much better places to go to. I have been going to LA Fitness for 9 years and it has become totally overvalued within the last two years. They are now charging more while providing less. They raised the prices for memberships after they shut down the Federal Way and Kent locations, which causes the other locations like Burien and Tukwila to get packed. The Burien location hasn’t had hot water in the showers in over a month and there doesn’t seem to be any urgency to get it fixed. They also don’t have curtains for the shower stalls either. There aren’t any mats, so you have to do everything on the hardwood or carpet (that’s wearing out). They put all this effort into building a Pilates studio but haven’t paid attention the issue the gym already has. It like the managers/owners don’t use the facility so they don’t know what wrong with it. It might only be worth it if you live within 1 mile of it.

They lock the door a half hour before stated closing time, bs for the amount of money they charge per month.

The front desk employees actively ignore you unless you are signing up. Always talking to eachother and on their phones.

To cancel you have to get a notarized letter. I went in 3 times to cancel. They said they canceled it each time but I got charged at the end of every month.

It almost feels illegal how they run the business, but they found their loopholes.

The hot water has not been working for a month now. If it’s not taken care of soon, I’m gonna cancel my membership. Isn’t that considered an OSHA violation if employees and customers cannot wash their hands sanitarily in the restrooms with hot water between the temperature between 100-120 degrees to prevent the spread of germs? That’s kind of important in a gym.

I went in there to do the 3-day pass when I walked in the two guys working at the front door won't even greet me I had to greet them which was kind of weird and then they didn't even say how can we help you either stood there and stared at me so I told him I got a 3-day pass I want to come and go they wasting my time having me sit down just to tell me that they can't do it cuz I used to be a member there which is ridiculous and then basically told me $20 or get a membership or leave he didn't explain the membership you didn't explain any deals you didn't tell me anything about the gym he just basically said I'll buy membership or get out kind of thing and I don't know how they stay in business with people like that running the front how embarrassing for them and it sucks cuz if you would have just took the time to show me around explain it to me blah blah blah it's been 3 years since I've been there but no so I didn't get a membership and I guess I'll go to some other gym and they'll get my money That's their loss but I think people should know that the way you treat your customers matters That's why they only have a 3.0 rating on here

These people are suck specially manager. I got visitor pass through my app for my spouse but when we went there manager said you are not able to bring your wife because that pass we don't accept. Why they show in app visitor pass if they dont accept on locations. I dont know how much truth was but i felt sense of discrimination on that point. Same time i feel bad and i bought membership for my wife and manager said you have 30 days for cancellation and get full refund. We came back and she decides not to go that gym because they do discrimination and we feel that. Then next day i call them to cancel they said we cannot cancel on phone come inside. Due to some medical reason we could not go few days and today when i went for cancel that manager said i never promised for 30 days cancellation policy when i asked contract he said i sent on your email when i confirmed my email id he put wrong email in system intentionally so i could not know about his promises and actually things. When i asked for cancellation today manager said you have to deposit more annually fee then we can cancel that they charges 100$ on the day april 11 they start and he told that day no annually fee for her because she is going to add under my account and today he said extra annually fee. I will recommend to the people make sure ask the contract and read properly before signing. These people lie on every steps and stealing people money.

I tried to give my friend 7 day guest pass for him to try out the gym next to his house but Manager Mr. policy guy Eric tried all the tricks and policy reasons to not honor it. After trying other location and getting approved he still did not let us work out the gym next to my friend's house. Truly one of the worst LA’s I’ve been too. I travel for work so I went to this one for 3 months. It’s not actually LA’s fault it’s so bad. The staff is super nice. The people that go to this gym are nasty. It smells like body odor all the time and nobody seems to re-rack their weights. The dumbbells are never where they are supposed to be. My friend sent me a seven day pass to get me acquainted with la fitness, we decided to go to this location and the manager “Eric H” informed us that the pass can ONLY be activated at my friends home gym (Kirkland) or pay $20 daily or a 30-45 minutes orientation. Me and my friend decided to go to tukwila location and the 7 day pass got activated with no problems, after that said and done, I made sure to ask if I could use this pass in any LA fitness location specifically if I can use it at burien since I live in the area and was told that I can go to absolutely any location. Went back to burien and was denied entrance by the manager “Eric H” per their “policy” which we politely ask if he can show us that policy since my friend is a member and was denied that as well so we continue to ask for his information since he is the manager so we can get a copy of the policy that he was stating but he refused and told us not to come back today. I’m not entirely sure what “Eric H” was trying to accomplish,because ultimately he lost a future member and a current member over a free 7 day trial pass.

Great gym to get a grind on. Was not offered a tour of the facility on my first visit which surprised me. I also ordered towel service with my membership but it wasn’t offered at the Burien location. It’s also not trans friendly. The showers are wide open which I doubt even cis people want to experience. Good enough for working out so I’ll keep going for just that.

I got free pass today. I went to this gym it is near by my home the front desk said I have to wait till the salesmen come. The new manager is really unpleasant to talk to. The old manager had told me I could get 24 a month by paying a high initiation fee, now I’m being told I was lied too and they wont honor the previous deal I had already worked out. When I joined L.A. Fitness (King County, WA, region) I was dubious about the many, many negative comments of some of the facilities.

The negative comments were not wrong, and I endured the reality of the facilities because it was (at the time) the least expensive, most comprehensive option.

Burien's location, unfortunately, have a swath of problems. Most recently, they had a roof leak in the men's bathroom that they didn't address for several weeks. We're talking bulging pustules (yes, a couple dozen, at minimum) retaining moisture (and thus growing mold) along the ceiling and buckets on the floor. Based on what we observed about the eventual cleanup/resolution: they did not sanitize any portion of the affected leaking area (the ceiling, the space between ceiling and roof, etc.).
They also recently threw away all of their mats for the group fitness studio. Why? There was no reason given, just 'we threw them all away.' No replacements ordered, no replacements available, so I guess the expectation is that anyone who wants to use the group fitness studio for anything on the floor just has to bring their own.
Carpet is not maintained, and in reality sorely needs a replacement. There's no way that they've cleaned that carpet, thoroughly, in _years_. . .otherwise we would have seen evidence of it (any evidence, in fact, that they made any effort to clean any of the carpet in the past 3-5 years).
Bathrooms are consistently out of toilet paper and out of paper towels. Paper towel dispensers are regularly broken or don't function correctly. Members continue to use cell phones in bathrooms, despite it clearly posted that they aren't permitted, and management doesn't do anything to address it. Toileting areas are always humid, sticky, and reek of urine: it's clear that HVAC in that area isn't correctly/effectively installed and that they need cleaning MUCH more frequently.
Members continue to video record within the facility, but staff don't address it effectively.
Cardio equipment is never cleaned thoroughly, and it all remains gross.
The place is overrun with adolescent boys most mid-afternoons. I don't know why L.A. Fitness permits children to work out, unsupervised, when the children don't life correctly and are a liability to themselves. . .not to mention how incredibly unhealthy it is for under-18s to be weight-lifting at the levels they _try_ to weightlift at.
I asked about what steps I might need to take, to cancel membership: I was told that, if I opted for that to speak with an operations manager, because they'd want to see what they could work out, and that 'retaining my business is important'. A week later went in to cancel my membership, spoke with the same person, and they made _zero_ effort: my membership was cancelled within minutes. Management that can't even follow through on their job commitment tells you everything you need to know about the competencies at this facility.

I was in town from Germany for a month. Was able to get a 2 month plan that also allowed me to bring my girlfriend as a guest.

All the employees at this location are very accommodating. The plan came with one free personal training session. I had mine with Andre who gave me some good exercises for strengthening my leg after surgery and was careful to ensure I felt comfortable with all the exercises.

Would highly recommend. Mostly visited during weekdays when it’s not too busy.
