I am writing this review to detail a highly unsatisfactory experience I had regarding my couple's membership and an attempt to transition to an individual plan.
My husband and I currently share a couple's membership. Due to the difficulty of coordinating childcare for our 1.5-year-old son, we realized we needed separate memberships to utilize the gym effectively.
My husband initiated a discussion with an LA Fitness employee/salesperson regarding setting up a new, separate membership for me. He briefly had to leave the facility to go home but assured he would return shortly to finalize the paperwork. I remained in the facility and one staff approached me so explaining the situation that my 1.5 yr old son in sleeping at home and politely requested 40-50 minutes to wait for my husband's return so we could complete the new membership transaction.
Instead of accommodating this reasonable request or offering a temporary pass until his return, a staff member abruptly and rudely instructed me to leave the premises immediately.
This approach was entirely unwarranted and unacceptable. We were actively in the process of paying for an additional membership due to logistical needs, and I was given no flexibility or courtesy whatsoever while waiting. The staff member's tone and demand were ridiculous and showed a complete lack of professionalism and understanding of the member's situation.
As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect, especially when trying to upgrade my commitment to the facility. This single interaction has completely soured our perception of the gym's customer service standards.
Recommendation: Management needs to address the training of their sales and floor staff regarding customer interaction, particularly when dealing with membership transitions and simple requests for a short waiting period.

I’ve been going to this gym for years, and it has completely fallen apart. Machines are constantly broken and stay out of order for weeks or months. The locker rooms are filthy, the showers are full of hair and grime, and basic cleanliness is clearly not a priority here.

The steam room was broken for almost a year, and even after it was “fixed,” it barely works. The hot tub has been drained and abandoned for over three months with no explanation. The pool is dirty, with visible dirt and debris sitting on the bottom. The sauna is overcrowded because every other amenity is either broken or unusable. No hot water in the showers for about a month.

This place is unsanitary and nowhere near the standard a national gym like LA Fitness should uphold. What’s worse is management’s complete lack of accountability—they respond to positive reviews but ignore every negative one. It’s obvious they don’t take member concerns seriously.

Warning to anyone thinking of joining this LA Fitness at Market Place Lake Meridian in Kent: this gym does not deliver the amenities it promises.

The steam room has been unavailable for months and now that is "fixed" they never turn it on, you always need to ask somebody from the gym staff to turn it on.

The jacuzzi has also been out of service for months. Have they thought that many people signs in just because that amenity?

Most shower heads and valves are broken or loose, and hot water is inconsistent.

Showers desperately need an upgrade!

The locker room is cleaned and moped with apparently just water that have a weird smell...

Several treadmills and other machines have been broken for months with no repairs or updates.

Management is fully aware of these issues but has done nothing to fix them. What they are good at is charging membership fees on time every single month. Sales staff also keep signing up new members without being upfront about how bad the facility really is.

What makes this more frustrating is that there aren’t other similar clubs in the neighborhood, so members feel stuck paying for a gym that doesn’t deliver what it advertises.

If you’re considering joining here, think twice—you’ll be paying full price for broken, neglected amenities. This location desperately needs accountability and real maintenance before it can be worth the membership.

#1 Steam sauna have been out of order Totally CLOSED for ever… year past by, no one ever thinking of fixing it and it’s probably miner issue.

I visited the gym yesterday for a workout and had a great first impression. The front desk staff and sales team member who assisted me were friendly and personable, which made for a welcoming experience.

I used to frequent this location when it operated as a 24 Hour Fitness. While the general appearance is familiar, LA Fitness has done a great job transforming the space into a more functional and well-organized layout. The facility offers a wide range of Hammer Strength and cable machines, and I particularly appreciated the turf area for functional training.

This gym provides everything needed to meet a variety of fitness goals. Well done, LA Fitness—you exceeded my expectations, especially after a less-than-stellar experience at a different location.

I was in the locker room changing from gym clothes to my swimsuit to do cardio & saw someone on their phone taking selfies. Addressed it with her, told her to wait at least until people weren’t naked or take the photo on the gym floor, but it wasn’t well received.

One of the persons trainers, Shubhpuneet, was in the locker room while this all occurred. Instead of reminding the IG model to not take photos in the locker room she told me and the other changing woman to calm down.

While I’m naked in a locker room where privacy should be protected, I will not calm down if I catch someone taking photos. I brought this to corporate as well, it’s wildly unacceptable

I want to say thank you to Tim, and Jordan those 2 are great and the rest of the trainers I’ll be working with to reach my goals(5stars to them). The girls in the front super sweet. The only things that is missing the extra star is the kids club for the price great but for the experience and impression I got was very uncomfortable. I was under the impression the teacher would interact with the kids not stand there and just yell at them when they do something she doesn’t like, no acknowledgment to the parents and my baby left on the floor with older kids running all over the place, I hope LA works on the teacher interaction and trying to secure the younger kids that don’t walk yet. I left my baby and came back an hour after training with him in the same place. For $10 a kid And the online reflect was very uncomfortable.

UPDATE: The water still tastes pretty bad. Also, the sauna is for men AND women so it's always full and uncomfortable when I walk in, and there's hella sweaty dudes in there. So disappointing. HVAC system is not working, which made the gym very humid and hot, especially in the locker. There is condensation on the walls with black mold growth. They need to fix this ASAP because it's a health hazard. People pay money to use these facilities just to risk their health. It's disgusting!

As a ex employee and current member this location is complete trash! I went in yesterday morning, and over the weekend lost my card not releasing my payment was due the next day I went in without my Wallet! I explained to the Asian lady up front that I don’t have my wallet on me to put any other card on file apart from paying with apply pay or adding my real card of file after it’s arrived, I stood there for 15 min explaining the situation and the lady wouldn’t let it go! Found it very disrespectful and rude! I was thinking of canceling my membership but this has confirmed it as I do have 2 other gym memberships.

Apart from aggressive and rude trash! The gym is completely confusing! It’s like after taking over from 24 hours fitness they are just lost with how to structure it ! It was a hot mess trying to get signed up at this location during the July sale. It was like I was the sales person and they were the customer!
After mid way of contact the system kicked me out charged my card to later find out they could refund me and do a regular plan.
I called and spoke to a manager who was a woman of 0 help. The call got disconnected with in 30 seconds.
Such a waste of energy and time.
I ended up calling the Covington one and spoke to Chase and then Gage who were very helpful and I ended up signing a plan with them.
Otherwise this gym is usually pretty packed around 6 PM hard to find parking.

I understand that this is a box gym in a fairly busy area, but there are some issues that make me drive an extra 20 minutes to the LA Fitness in Auburn.

1) gym is VERY dirty. I rarely see cleaning staff. Bathrooms/locker rooms are a mess.

2) there are people with tripods everywhere. Literally everytime I’ve gone to this gym there has been atleast one person with a tripod filming themselves. I get that this can be a controversial topic but at times, its disrupting

3) treadmills are faulty. They work but the humidity that the gym has, has fried the UI on majority of the equipment

4) nearly impossible to use any of the equipment during peak times. Majority of free weights are also in use as well as people are for some reason doing super sets at 4PM peak times of the day.

5) free weights laying everywhere or missing.

I try to go out of my way to NOT use this gym.

I have been a member of LA FITNESS for the past eight months and I can confidently say that it is one of the best gyms I have ever trained at. From the moment you walk in, you realize that this place is dedicated to providing a high quality fitness experience.

The gym has state of the art equipment including cardio machines, free weights and resistance equipment. Everything is always clean and well maintained. In addition, there are dedicated areas for functional training and a stretching room that is perfect for relaxing after an intense session. Generally filthy, compared to other facilities. Water pressure is very weak in the shower room. Hot water is often just warm, if at all. The only one shower in the pool area is out of commission, and has been for several weeks now. Between 5-6pm, while working out, 2 lockers that I occupied with my personal padlocks were broken into. My wallet was stolen, including cash & credit cards. This was reported at the front counter. The person there went to talk to his supervisor or manager, who couldn't be bothered or interested to speak to me. I was simply told that there are no cameras in the changing room. Have a nice day!

The worst place I ever met. They have closed the Kent location, and covington is quite far away for me. Since couple of days I am coming to this location to cancel my membership and they are telling me the operation manager is not here. The operation manager works from 9-6pm. When I asked them to freeze the account they said will the due date is tomorrow and we can’t do that. When you want to register, they will do it at any time even if you go 10 PM, but if you want to cancel, they will make thousands of excuses. I think it’s not the right way to make money.

I transferred from the Landing in Renton to Kent-Kangley gym a few months ago.. and at the time the gym was in excellent condition.. fast forward 3 months and the place looks like a disaster.. the mens locker room has dirty paper towels, empty water bottles, broken trim pieces hanging above the lockers and used Covid masks EVERYWHERE!! The steam room has been broken for 3 months, the sauna has broken wooden trim pieces stacked in the corner like kindling. There are water bottles everywhere and used Covid masks litter the floor..The overall cleanliness of the gym is in a sad state. While lying on the gym floor stretching mats you can see hair and dust everywhere !!! ( ever heard of a vacuum)? and on more than one occasion one of the works was talking to his fellow coworkers at their desks and every other word out of his mouth was a curse word!!!! Come on people… we pay a lot of money to use this gym… and to me it seems like know one cares about this place….

fast forward 3/2023 water smells and tastes like a smelly fart, today there was someone working out with their shirt off and personal trainer walked right by him and didn’t say anything. They make sure to make it impossible to cancel membership and charge you as much as possible. Beware of that and cancel a month in advance, otherwise they will make tons of excuses that you didn’t cancel on time.

The gym is pretty nice overall and the staff are friendly. It needs a bit of a makeover. Lots of the doors and equipment have rust on them. Same for most of the pool surrounding area.

Do not sign a personal training contract with LA Fitness. I had to quit due to change in work assignment and they had me
pay half of of all remaining three months of costs (so upcoming Nov, Dec, Jan PT bills) to stop the personal training. It’s such a pity because some of their trainers are great. I will never join LA Fitness again for having to have their customers sign this malicious contracts.

Ridiculously hot in here, no ventilation, all the machines are rusted due to moisture. Why am I paying a monthly and annual fee for this when that money is supposed to go towards fixing this.

Nothing but a bunch of thieves. I canceled my membership after an accident left me crippled. Got a cancelation confirmation email..... turns out that was only for my wife's membership. They didn't cancel mine and won't refund what they charged me.

It's decent. There are worse places for sure. At this location in particular, people are lazy and don't put their weights away. Plates, dumbbells, etc are all over the floor. Cable machine accessories could be anywhere. Another really annoying thing at all gyms in general, but here especially is people spend more time staring at their phones than excersing!

This gym is always clean. The machines are working properly, the equipment is well organized and the staff is very polite . It’s not my closest gym from where I live, but I don’t mind driving a little bit more to go to this location.

Ok gym. The trainers are very nice. Most of the equipment is well maintained but it seemed several of the treadmills were not working correctly. There is a sauna, steam room and hot tub. They don't provide towels or locks fo the lockers so you need to bring your own. No shampoo or conditioner in the shower but there is liquid body soap. My last gym provided a lot more amenities but it was more expensive. All in all it's not bad for the price. However there are not many classes which would add value.

Rarely have more than 1 sanitizer station working. No more paper towels. Cable attachments are often missing or being horded by the personal trainers so you have to take their class to use them. Door on sauna is often broken letting heat escape.

This particular facility might be one of the worst ones. I drive for work, so I visit many gyms in the area. But the stuff here is rude. Maybe they take it after the manager, who is arrogant and even ruder. Its actually sad. It's a good gym with modern equipment.

Kudos to LA Fitness (Lake Meridian on 272nd and 132nd) for bringing Justin Zwickl back. We noticed a decline in the gym while he was gone. Justin is a friendly, positive and encouraging presence at the gym. In addition to being fully present for members, he keeps the gym operating at peak performance. So glad you're back, Justin! Sorry to see Jessica leave but looking forward to training with Ray.
