If I could give a zero (0) star I would. Let's start with my initial walk in. There was a they/them lady with short hair. Had someone who doesn't even work there behind the counter. I had to ask for assistance in order to be assisted otherwise they were just chatting it up. There should be a minimal level of professionalism, clients should not be able to hang out with employees behind the desk because it can cause confusion on who to ask for assistance, and the reasons go on.
Machines are broken, or not working. Tricep machine missing pin to set weight, pec fly machine seat is falling off. Leg press machine malfunctions. Cardio machines are inoperable. I wish redondo LA was still open. This gym is horrible.
Train the employees, have minimum professional standards, and get machines fixed. Do you guys need help ?

La fitness is a scam. Would rate 0 stars if I could, no one told me location was closing. Charged $200 for the 1 month of being able to use the gym. Due to having to pay first and last month's fee. And the annual fee which they do not tell you they will charge you in 2 weeks of signing up.
Note the gym is dirty. There's no cleaning. People are inconsiderate here and do not rerack/return weights. Hardly anyone wipes down equipment after use. Never seen the staff doing any kind of clean up or maintaince. They are always sitting at the first desk talking.

If I could give zero stars I would. Paul, the manager is an absolute joke. He needs leadership training and classes on how to professionally discuss issues with people. He is condescending, rude, and wears a smirk on his face when you are trying to explain anything to him. When a manager tries to argue with you and then proceeds to say “go to a different gym” Dude seriously? That is your solution. Seriously he does not know how to have a mature conversation. Anwyays, my disgust is not only with him, but the gym itself. It is OLD, you can clearly tell there has been no investment in to this gym. Outdated machines, not enough dumbbells, cables are broken, attachments are worn out, the list goes on. The cleanliness here is concerning. Dust, grime, and it smells of mildew. Not once have I seen custodial staff cleaning. The locker rooms are just as bad. The front staff are LAZY, not surprising since their manager clearly doesn’t care about the facility, so why should they? Often they are on their phone with their feet up on the desk… maybe spend less time scrolling and more time engaging with members or better yet, walking around the gym re-racking and tidying the place up. This gym has some of the laziest members I’ve witnessed- a lot of members don’t re-rack or if they take dumbbells away from the free weight section, they don’t return them. I can’t do anything about the members, but when I see staff on their phones it irritates me when, like I said, they could be tidying up. Furthermore, the parking lot needs fresh paint lines for parking spots and members will literally park their cars in front of the door— which is completely unsafe if there were a medical emergency.
As someone who has gone to LA Fitness in Arizona, this place is a complete 180… it honestly makes LA fitness look bad, which sucks because my experience prior to this location has exceeded expectation (see my other reviews).
Due to my dissatisfaction with Paul, I took it upon myself to reach out to corporate and the district manager. The district manager was extremely pleasant and concerned about everything that I shared with him. To my surprise, he let me know this location is closing permanently on February 22nd. Probably for the best since most people could spend their $45 a month elsewhere.

Not sure why this facility has 5 star reviews that are recent. The only reason I continue to go is because it’s the most conveniently located.

The shower area is always dirty! Hair balls in shower drain and floors everywhere, which shows no cleaning all day! The otherday, i couldn't complete my shower due to water not draining, it was up to my ankle, felt standing in pool of drainage, discusting! Very unsafe experience at LA Fitness. Despite employees being present at the main entrance, four cars, including mine, had their windows smashed. I'm a member of Planet Fitness. I dropped my car in a repair shop close to this place and wanted to work out a couple of hours while waiting for my car to be fixed.
Terrible experience! First, the front desk person didn't accept my 3 days free pass I got online and charged me $20 dollars for a day pass.
Second, this place is old. No AC! Equipments are old from like 1980! If you work out in any location of Plant Fitness, I'm sure you would never go to LA fitness.

Whoever the white guy that was closing tonight (Friday) was very rude. I usually go to the location on 72nd, but I tried to give this one a try because it is closer to my job. I came in at 9:45, unaware that they were closing at 10pm; The guy shouted very loudly, “We close at 10!” I responded, “I thought you normally close at 11?” He shouted again, “We close at 10!” I left before things went left. I am an adult and a woman, not a child. He needs to find a new job where he doesn’t have to work with people because his tone is not appropriate for customer service.

Let me start by saying The staff is great and very welcoming... The equipment aint pretty but it is acceptable and will do the job.

In my opinion the biggest problem with this gym is their air circulation HVAC system . You can feel it as soon as you walk in and its more noticeable in the weight room. There is this moldy, musty, sweat smell that seem to just linger in the air. It kinda reminds me of those hallways in cheap motels that smell like old mattress, and cigarettes.

Id recommend they fix this air circulation issue first and foremost. Then install one of those camera robot parking security system you see at Safeway due to it being located in a sketchy intersection for people who workout at night. They they do those two things this will be the best gym in the area hands down.

A few machines down, not much for stretching and no water extractor for swimsuits. Other then that it’s generally clean and maintained. Staff mostly keep to themselves and are not pushy. Edited 4/27 Wow, that went down hill fast, meatgazers delight now that the shower curtains have been removed along with most of not all of the soap dispensers. I’m guessing the soap dispensers were due to customer getting frustrated with the cheap soap that doesn’t work and the dispensers that don’t dispense.

Takeaway: this LA Fitness does not share a parking lot with any other business or establishment. Lack of activity and a poorly lit parking lot is a criminal’s paradise. Myself and about 8 others had their cars broken into in ONE night. I was at the gym for maybe two hours. Apparently this happen the day prior and LA Fitness staff was aware of this…yet they failed to inform MEMBERS of their establishment. I do not recommend this LA Fitness (Kent). It’s not like the ones on 6th Ave, Pacific Ave or any of them really with a Safeway, petco, security etc. Be mindful when working out after daylight. This is me warning members …hopefully, save them the time, money and hardship…something their staff has failed to do!

Pros: Large amount of space, staff is very nice, and the gym is cleaned frequently.

Cons: there are SO many broken cardio machines, and most are not labeled as broken so you don’t know until you try to use them. Many of the other working machines are old and some even have pieces duct taped together.
