I used this gym for a month while my regular gym was being remodeled. I didn’t want to drive 20+ minutes to a farther location. For context, my usual gym charges about $11 per month plus an annual fee of $42. So, I expected a gym like LA Fitness—charging nearly five times more—to offer better quality or at least match the same standards. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

- Many machines were out of service, others were outdated, and some were in poor condition. I almost fell on a treadmill, and the presses weren’t properly greased.

-The sign-up team repeatedly harassed my partner with calls to join. They also misled me:
--- Claimed I could invite the same person for four weeks using VIP passes, but in reality, it’s one pass per person.
--- Said the gym was never crowded—completely false.
---They told me once you cancel, your last month start running. But I can cancel on a Nov 24, but because my pay day is on 20, I also have to pay December and my membership ends on January ~20.

-Receptionists were rude and dismissive. They often ignored me, and when I asked for help, they acted annoyed.
-Bathrooms had an unpleasant smell.
-Some members were extremely noisy, making the environment uncomfortable.

In conclusion, I went for a month, and I ended up paying more than $350, which is what I pay in my gym in 2 years. You can see the changes below (+44 I will pay in dec).

Been coming to this gym on and off for about 10 years. I can say for sure that all the machines have been the same ones throughout that whole time. The only upgrade it’s had in that time span was the turf area and the Olympic platforms, both of wish are already showing signs of extreme wear. I wish instead they had updated their overall equipment.

A few days ago I was lucky enough to find a treadmill that worked. I began to run and about 30 seconds in, the treadmill shut off completely. I was full sprint and it nearly sent me flying. The treadmill then refused to turn on. The member next to me then said that this treadmill constantly shorts out and that they had mentioned it to staff. No down for maintenance sign anywhere. I think of other members that could get severely hurt as well if the machine was to short out on them mid run.

Free wights plates plastic coming off drywall dented keeps on pads missing rug looks like a mechanics shop people let in have no gym edicat and whips always not filled lights over head burned out . I hate to say this because I know you know me . But maybe are east coat manger should come back to the west Coast. . I feel like it's gone down hill . Probably the worst LA fitness I’ve been to. Dirty, ALWAYS PACKED, and broken equipment everywhere.

It’s next to my work so I sometimes go here instead of waiting to go home and use the gym there. Every time it feels like a mistake. No matter the time it always feels like the 5pm rush.

My partner had a very disappointing experience here. She was told that the personal training program could be canceled at any time, but later discovered it was actually a 6-month contract with penalties. When she tried to cancel, both the management and the training staff treated her very poorly. The personal training department was dishonest and completely unhelpful.

On top of that, many of the cardio machines, like the stair machines, are always broken — they just put a paper saying it was “checked,” but it never gets fixed.

Please read your contracts carefully before signing anything. There seems to be a lot of misleading and borderline fraudulent practices at this gym. Very disappointing overall. 👎

I literally left 24 Hour Fitness Panther Lake for this location because I've heard so many good reviews about LA Fitness and this one is literally 3 minutes away from home.

70% of cardio machines are broken. They will "service" them and take the sign off yet when you get on the treadmills they will skip while you walk/run or just don't power on.. Same with stair master. 24 Hour fitness just replaced their cardio machines this year. Why did I leave for more crappy machines!?!

Get comfortable just foregoing the treadmill/ stair master and just use the recumbent or spin bikes or ellipticals because those are the only cardio machines that work.

This has potential to be a good gym, I like that there are workout classes including a pilates membership (they really should have gone with the drop-in option vs requiring adding a membership). Comparing it to 24 hour panther lake where classes where non existent
unless it was a silver sneakers class. When I joined I was a little turned off by the bad customer service reviews from the front desk but I've been greeted and told have a nice day/night as I was leaving 90% of the time. So I'd say the front desk is pretty friendly.

All in all as a member for around 4 months... I'll probably close out this year and head back over to 24 hour fitness where machines are actually useable. I just hated making that 15 minute drive every morning.

LA Fitness felt like it peaked in 2009 and just never got the memo. Weights were a little sticky, smelled like somebody’s protein shake from last summer. Treadmill screen was so old it still had a Myspace login. Place wasn’t terrible, you can still get a workout in, but it kinda felt like training in your uncle’s basement gym if your uncle also rented it out to 400 strangers. Three stars ‘cause sweat builds character, but maybe clean the bathrooms before they develop their own ecosystem

The gym itself is fine. Just saw this manager lady essentially tell someone to stop “training” their friend as he was showing said friend proper safe form for overhead press. I approached the manager lady and asked why she stopped them and the only valid response I received as to why she stopped them is because “it’s bad for the LA fitness business because they won’t make money”. I saw them both scan in, meaning they are both paying members. To top it off, that lady told me “have a nice day” in a very condescending tone to end the conversation since she had nothing else to say, couldn’t even point me to where in the T&Cs the rule is stated. I did find the section, and she’s right so I suppose she did her job. But either way, dude wasn’t being “trained” he was being taught safe lifting form.

There are quite a few broken machines. Some haven't been fixed in over 8 months. Like the leg press. All pins for the machine weight seem to be missing I try to inform the desk and they don't seem to really want to help me. There never seems to be paper towels, and it's always filthy in the bathroom, paper towels all over the ground. The dividers between the toilets, they're coming off the walls. I've been coming here 7 years, and it is terrible. The worst I've ever seen it. I went to the Auburn LA fitness, and it's like walking into paradise. ❤️ I only come to this gym on Thursday afternoons around 4pm because of Yuping’s class! She is such a hidden gem Zumba instructor. I drive all the way from Bellevue to Renton – almost an hour – and I still wouldn’t want to miss her class. That’s how much I love it!!! 🥰 Please consider giving her more classes. I’ve been a member of this gym for four years, and everything was fine—until about six months ago when there was a change in management and staff. Since then, the environment has declined significantly.

The new management team appears to lack professionalism, and there have been noticeable inappropriate relationships between staff members and clients, as well as among staff themselves. The overall atmosphere has become chaotic and uncomfortable, and it no longer feels like a safe or respectful space to work out.

What was once a clean, professional gym has unfortunately turned into something I can no longer recommend.

They also just terminated the best personal trainer this location has ever had — Webb. He was the reason many members, including myself, signed up for personal training in the first place. His professionalism, skill, and dedication to his clients were unmatched. His dismissal was deeply unfair, and based on what I’ve personally witnessed, I believe his race played a role in the decision. I saw multiple instances where members directed racial slurs — including the N-word — at him, and management failed to intervene. In addition, some female members who didn’t receive the attention they wanted from him would deliberately try to create problems for him, seemingly in an effort to get him reprimanded or fired. Despite this toxic and hostile behavior directed at Webb, it was he who ended up losing his job.

I walked out to get something in my car and came back in after checking in and I had to check in again. I pay $50 a month to work out and relax not argue with the combative from desk! The guy who works days very rude. FYI, if that pool really 81 degrees than I should be able to go right in without freezing my tail off! The chlorine level in the hot tub is so high, it makes you cough, if you overload chlorine, it's actually a carcinogen. There is so much chlorine in the hot tub, it's cloudy, which too high! Please lower the chlorine level. Thank you.

My family has been members of LA fitness for over 10 years, over a decade. The location is great for the equipment, sauna, shower room, pool, and plent of parking. So why is such a low star rating?
Just a little background, every single of my family have membership with LA Fitness, and then once my father reached the retirement age, he got insurance plan that allow him to go to the gym for free. So his membership changed into the free plan, while other members of my family, including myself, paid for our memberships. At the start of 2025, there was a change to the insurance plan that needed some transferring. My father did not know of this and went to the gym with my mother. According to the system, his membership turned inactive, and the employee did reject my father and prevent him from going in, while my mother could enter. This is the man who is near 70, and he has been a member of over 10 years.
So I gave this gym 2 stars as everything is good except for the employee. It would have been 1 star, but the location and everything else is good. My family will be ending our membership soon and looking for alternatives. You don't reject someone who was loyal to you for a decade just because there is a small problem in the system.

I went in today to do a free trial at this gym and got banned. The manager, Eric said I couldn’t get the free trial since I’ve been at the gym before which was fine but told me I could go in for free for the day. Then he tried to get me to sign up and I said I’m okay because I will be traveling soon so there’s no need. Then he said he was trying to save me money and I said, “I can just join the gym in another country since I won’t be here.” And he said if I sign up now, I could save money and then I said, “don’t you do this deal every year?” And he got mad and told me I was insulting his intelligence and told me I had to pay for the day pass. Then I tried walking in and told
Me again I have to pay when he told me I could go in for free for the day. Then as I was going to pay, he came up and told me I was being disrespectful and I told him I didn’t realize. He then said I wasn’t allowed in anymore. I went up to apologize to him and then said I could pay for the day pass and I told him I’m sorry I’m apologizing and I’m not trying to get in, I just want to say sorry. I also wished him a happy holiday because I felt really confused at the time. But I felt attacked and gaslit when all I did was ask him questions……

I’ve been a member of several gyms, but my experience with LA Fitness has been incredibly disappointing. It feels like they’re more focused on pushing sales than actually supporting their members. From the moment you walk in, you’re bombarded with aggressive upselling tactics for personal training sessions, upgrades, and add-ons.

What’s worse is the treatment of people. The staff seem to view potential members as dollar signs rather than actual people looking to improve their fitness. The pushy sales tactics are relentless, and if you’re not buying something, it’s as if they lose all.

0 Stars to this gym and the team! I am a member of lifetime fitness in Boston and recently moved to Seattle. My girlfriend is a member and told me I should check out the gym since she has few guest pass that she never used. On dec 27, 24 around 4:50PM upon entering the gym they had me do all the steps to get a guest pass and then one of the representative from member services told us very rudely that we can’t try and enter for free and will cost us $20 day pass. We felt so disrespected and left made us feel like we were trying to sneak in. I hope yall will check cameras and fire that guy im sure he does that to all his customer. The maintenance is terrible. Men's shower heads are all clogged except one. This has been reported multiple times. Equipment is original. Needs upgrade and service. The guy who services the equipment is great. The carpets could/should be replaced. More signage to regulate cellphone use in sauna and locker room areas. "In multiple languages." Purchase more excersize mats and monitor excersize balls for air pressure. Replace them all. They are all old ( except for two)

I stopped by this location around 6:30pm tonight to join my husband at the gym. I came here over 6 months ago on a guest pass and spoke to Jacob who told me in person, I am able to apply for the guest pass again as long as it's 6 months apart. Since I do not live here, I can't commit to monthly membership until I am fully settled. (My husband also goes to other gyms so paying $40+ to come a few times a month is not worth it). I signed up this morning online for the guest pass and had a voicemail from Jacob to already confirm and to assist me in setting this up. We came today and the two people at the front told me I could not use the gym unless I pay a day pass ($20) or get a membership. I informed them of their 6 month policy but she said no. We just left and went to another LA fitness that did not give me any hassles at all. I'm not sure where the 6 month policy stands but if it's not accurate, they should change their terms and conditions. Seemed really pushy with memberships.

I've heard complaints from multiple people about heavy-handed solicitation of 5-star reviews and unkind behavior experienced at this location. The effort to artificially raise the rating rubs me the wrong way. The ownership seems enthusiastic to reply to five-star reviews, but not to other ones. Is the management open to constructive criticism, or do they just want people to say it's great there, without management having made a bona fide effort to improve things that aren't so great?

From what I have heard from the grapevine, I would never enter this location if my life depends on it. From corporate to the management. Passes not allowed unless you want membership. A violation by ordering others to give a five star rating, and the continued lies. If zeroed was possible you would have it as well.

Place is terribly crowded all the time. Machines aren't well maintained. Worst thing is the membership though, NEVER EVER TRUST THESE GUYS. They told me I would only pay x amount for my fees and it ended up being a blatant lie. Never told me about the $65 annual fee that comes 2 weeks after you sign up, which is predatory because guess what THEY DON'T TELL YOU YOU CAN'T REFUND 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. How convenient they give me that info after that has passed and I get hit with another charge! And honestly overall this location is just particularly bad in regards to gym quality, even compared to the other gyms around here which also suck.

1.) No women on the personal fitness training staff
2.) Training staff does not encourage cleanliness. Even before covid it was considered polite to wipe down your machine.
3.) Staff taped a 2' piece of caution tape to the sauna door but left it on and open. People were using it. When I asked at the front desk the attendant told me that it was sparking that morning so they scheduled maintenence.
4.) The pool and equipment are too busy to use on weekdays
5.)scamming hard sell on the personal fitness trainer program. It's a racket.
6.) Although the front desk can absolutely cancel your membership, they might tell you they can't and that you have to see a manager. (My friend walked in and canceled with the front desk staff)

The sauna hasn’t been working for the past 3 days. I called this morning before going to ask if the sauna was repaired. They said it was so I went. Guess what? It is not repaired.. what is the point of a membership here if things do not get repaired in a timely manner and the people that work there can’t even answer truthfully. Save your money and get a membership elsewhere.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! I've never had issues with LA fitness before, this one is by far the worst experience for both my partner and I.

Eric on the sales team just kept telling me lie after lie. First telling me they only have day passes for $20. When we look up and find a free 3-day trial pass he says he wasn't allowed to tell us about it. Then makes up another rule that if I've ever been to an LA Fitness I can't use it. (I haven't been there in over 2 years, it was as someone else' guest).

I'm worn out at this point and pay $20 for a day pass. Go home and find the only rule against using the 3-day pass is as long as it's been more than 6months since I've last gone. 0/10 This Eric guy makes car salesmen look like angels

I requested a 3-day free pass to try out LA Fitness today and was excited to drop in for a quick workout. However, my experience was far from positive. Unlike other gyms, they didn't activate my pass automatically. Instead, I was forced to sit down with their sales manager (I was going to write out his name, but I think he deserves a chance to get better at his customer service) who insisted on going through membership pricing that I already knew from their website.

I made it clear that I just wanted to try out the gym and could sign up online if I liked it. And he said he’d rather sign me up there. Which is understandable cause he needs his commission. But I told him I do not have a lot of time to go through his sale presentation and touring the place which he said those are MANDATORY before he can activate my pass. I said I did tried other LA Fitness couple years ago but they just let me right in. His response was the other place didn’t do what they supposed to do.

Well then, I was forced to go through his pricing presentation. He was trying to sell me the individual plan so I told him that my wife already has a membership and if I were to sign up I'd prefer to bundle our memberships (He could be alerted that he might lose my sign up if I just join my wife’s plan). Eric refused to provide any information on bundling and insisted that my wife would need to cancel her current membership first. Even when I asked for just the pricing details, he continued to push the individual plan. What kind of logic is that my wife would need to cancel her plan before he can show me the bundling plan? It took me 3 times to let him know that I’m not interested at the individual plan but the family plan before he unwillingly disclosed the pricing. So I said “there, that’s the information I need.” He then got very mad and told me that he’d not activate my pass. Well done 👏 he really knew how to use his power to the full extent. Can any upper management personnel let me know if he’s got the power to write off their company advertising coupon just because I was not interested at signing up for the individual plan with him at that moment? Wondering if that’s what he’d do as well even if I were to listen to his individual sale plan presentation but later rejected to sign up?

Thankfully, I requested another 3-day pass at a different LA Fitness location, and they sent me the access bar code immediately well before I got there. I was just told it’s mandatory to sit down with their sales before they can activate the pass? Obviously not!

Overall, this experience was disappointing and frustrating. Otherwise I wouldn’t have spent all this time here writing my first negative review!

Tonight I went to workout at LA Landing around 9:30 pm and after about 20 minutes I returned to my locker and my lock was gone along with my backpack. I reported the incident and as I was talking to the front desk on my way out, another person reported the same incident, almost at the same time…all his stuff was stolen…all he had was what he wore in the sauna.
Management has to find ways to make sure theft in the locker rooms are prevented.

Signed up for membership online. Front desk staff (there were 3, 2 of which were conversing) were okay at first. The GM offered to take me on a tour with a new staff member. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
**I prefer to be addressed upon entry rather than having to wait for staff members to finish a conversation in order to get their help.**
I ended up changing my membership for a more economical one, thanks to advice from the GM. Also ended up speaking with a personal trainer. He was able to give me a brief session and talked me into a plan. I am not sure if it will be worth the steep price, I will post updates.
The facility seems clean enough. Several of the machines are in need of service. The locker room is average, and the sauna is nice, I may end up using the pool eventually. The hot tub was nice, though it could stand to be warmer. It felt like it may have been 100 or 101 degrees. All in all, I am looking forward to taking advantage of my membership. I prefer it less crowded, so I will be mindful of the times I go there.
