NOT WORTH THE FAMILY PRICE IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN!! It seems like everyday their βrulesβ change restricting what your children can actually do. If you can I would 100% recommend the airway heights recreational center instead. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY!!!!

Good front desk staff but infringes on an individuals constitutional rights as a place that is for the community I find it quite concerning that we cannot exercise our 1st amendment freedoms on this property. I do challenge the community to step it up and hold these big corporations accountable to the freedoms we have as individuals and the meaning behind being a community resource. After learning stuff like this it doesnβt make me want to come back or even keep membership, if they are all the same. I want to the support freedoms and liberties of my country and it starts in the community. Who we support and what we buy. Anti American companies can take a hike. On another note this pool is often contaminated and shut down.

Great place! Staff are great, and my son can workout or swim while I workout. Had an issue in the gym where my son couldnβt find a basketball and one of the staff members quickly helped him find one and made his day greatβ¦ Very impressed. I would give it a 10 out of 10 if I could.

I love that most everyone follows the no phone rule in the gym! Nothing more annoying than waiting for someone on their phone to get off a machine you're waiting for. It could probably be monitored a little more closely in the evening π

I've enjoyed the Y. It's a fun place to bring kids and family to. The staff aren't always nice, though. The pool was good overall. The only problem we have run into is the hot tub being closed often due to mechanical issues or water P.H levels or a problem has come up. In the pool area, my family had a issue with lifeguards not scanning the whole pool and would miss kids roughhousing and one young man who was actively guarding, let kids shove each other into the pool and dive right next to other people who were treading water. Swim lessons are fun. Lifeguards can be rude and sassy at times. The slide is fun but is closed a lot when we go, which is unfortunate. The bottom of the lap pool can be very gross. It has sand and rocks on the bottom. The weight room can be a good experience.

I get this post will likely be immediately deleted.
After 6 months of trying to use my hard earned medicare senior fitness benefit I AGAIN left the Spokane Valley YMCA facilty in tears. AGAIN, during the agua senior exercise and water aerobics classes I was purposely squeezed out of space and intentionally hit and bumped by other people in the classes. Today, one woman kept purposefully putting her pool noodle ontop of mine then shoving her pool noodle into my arms and torso. It was not comfortable and was something that, for me, happened before. This woman kept moving into the area I had managed to eke out. She even let others know she was purposely doing this by stating " I am not going to stop moving over". Per usual I ignored her crowding and her pushing me with her pool noodle to commandeer my spot.
Today, I stood my ground as I had already been pushed out of the spot which I had been occupy BEFORE the other people came and kept squeezing me out of where I needed to be. After months of tolerating this judgmental and very biased and elitist behavior from other atttendees and STAFF, today I was finally pushed to far and stood up for myself. Also, I rarely say anything because I am not a chit chatter and generally keep my opinions to myself. But, after being again barked at by another attendee who had purposefully squeezed me out of my space in the water aerobics class I told that bully woman to leave me alone and that I had not ever bumped into her. The judgemental and biased instructor then loudly proclaimed in a scolding voice that I needed to apologize. I lost it and said the other person needed to leave me alone and that I had never been accepted at this YMCA. The instructor kept chastising me so I left humilated and in tears.
So don't believe a word of the Inland NW YMCAs recent marketing verbiage of being accepting and wellcoming of everyone. This is not true from my experience. The Spokane Valley YMCA staff are harshly critical, unkind, over controlling, over confident, judgemental elitists that perpetuate and endorse bullying or the ostracizing of quiet people they have deemed of low standing. Try as I might, I have never had a pleasant conversation with anyone at the Spokane Valley YMCA especially the staff. I cannot even ask a question without being sneared at or a dismissive response. Never an "atta girl" or a word of inspiration from anyone; especially the staff. For me, the Spokane Valley YMCA is a place of dread and fearfulness where acceptance and equality are limited to an entitled group of people who are allowed to have a voice.
Additionally, there is another problem. The YMCA 360 system kept blocking me from signing or downloading the application. It took over 6 months for this to get this resolved because the YMCA staff continuously refused to acknowledge there was a problem with their YMCA 360 system. It was very clear the YMCA 360 system had erroneously and mysteriously blocked my email address as spam. The only way this got fixed was for me to yet make another concession by using an unsafe email address.
So after today, the continuing humiliation and bullying I continue to receive at the Spokane Valley YMCA means that I cannot use my senior fitness benefit and another loss in dwindling resources. But I cannot go back because of the lack of TRUE acceptance and tolerance which is likely going to continue and worsen. Basically, I give up because I cannot keep going to a place that totally invalidates my self worth through constant shaming and bully behavior. So you win Inland NW YMCA; I will not come back.

-JUST THE SKATE PARK-
The skate park is cool because it's different from the rest in the fact it doesn't have some of the possible dangers of other parks with a lot of people, along with no scooters (very cool.)
But possibly the worst thing about it is the fact is it closes after labor day, now I got into skating last spring and around the same time I got a YMCA membership so I was excited, I went a few times and it was amazing. But it got way to hot to skate in the hot parts of the summer, then school happened etc. I came to it today and found it's closed after labor day, very disappointing.
I know whoever replies to this cause it's a bad review probably can't do anything but it would be so much better if it closer after the first snow, or if it was open throughout the fall cause in those times it's cooling down and it's actually nice to skate. Anyways that's my 10 cents but yeah, disappointing.

I'm giving Homeschool PE & Homeschool PE Swim a 5/5! The instructors for my son's classes are fantasticβengaging, prompt, SO kind, and great at keeping the activities fun and lively. My son has not only made new friends and learned new sports, but he's also grown more confident in the water. He looks forward to this class twice a week and is always talking about how much fun he has. I'd definitely sign him up for this class again, especially with these instructors.
However, the building could use some updates, like signage for the locker rooms and addressing the issue with complete nudity, which caught me off guard when my son went to change.
Despite a few minor issues, the staff at the facility has been quick to connect me with the right people for assistance, which has been really helpful. The front desk staff are friendly and welcoming.

The daycare area has an employee that is extremely concerning. Her name is Jinx and she has black hair with a shaved head. She works in the evenings. I have had a good experience with every other employee there except this one. There is two areas the kids play in the back room with toys and the playground area. My child likes to play in the playground area before entering into the play room. Some employees say there is no supervisor in that area so they have one person stay in the play area and another employee comes out to the playground area. This has never been an issue until my experience with Jinx. Upon arrival I requested to have my daughter play in the playground area. Jinx said βNo there is no supervisorβ so I responded ok can a supervisor please come out? There were three employees total in the daycare area one holding an infant. Jinx responded with a simple βnoβ and no further explanation on why this cannot happen. I said ok well if I force my daughter into the play room she will cry. I brought her into the playroom and my daughter had a meltdown. I exited the area and watched from the waiting area. Jinx was unaware that I was observing from afar. As my daughter cried and screamed pleading to be let out of the playroom Jinx stood above her staring with a completely cold expressionless face. I walked up the playground area standing outside and said to her βCan you please help her? Or bring her out here to play? Youβre just staring at her!β Jinx YELLED at me from across the play area βIβm NOT STARING AT HER!β At this point my daughter was scared and screaming out of fear. She opened the door and my daughter came running out to me hysterically. She stood out in the playground area finally and said she will watch her. My daughter who was inconsolable at this point would just look at her and start crying. She felt extremely unsafe, understandably when you have someone staring at you while you only need comfort and help. Complete lack of compassion towards my child which is extremely alarming when working in childcare. I grabbed daughter and asked for her name. I walked to the front counter and asked for the supervisor. I was handed the supervisors contact card, and was told she was out of office. I called a left a very heated message and was promptly called back by Deborah. She was very understanding and compassionate to my situation and let me know the situation will be addressed. I told her I am unwilling to bring my child back if she is put into care with that employee, unless she will longer be there. I was told she normally works in the mornings, sometimes evenings. Deborah also let me know training is to be taking place soon. While I appreciated that, you cannot teach compassion. Something she was lacking entirely which gives me such a bad feeling that she is taking care of innocent children. If you do go to this location and see this employee there please consider this review.

I will start by saying, I love the YMCA! I took babysitter safety courses through them as a kid, did Camp Reed, and had my birthday party there shortly after it was built in 2000.
Now, as an adult, we are members who frequent the gym and child watch, the open family swim, and the rock climbing wall.
All of those experiences have been GREAT.
AND! Their swim lessons are atrocious. My then 2 and 4 yr kids did lessons a year ago, and are now in classes as 3 and 5 year olds. The classes are mostly run by teenagers. I have no problem with that. That is a great job for a teenager. And also - the Y MUST train their employees to be better teachers. I have watched for many weeks as there is a different teacher every single week for an 8 week session. (This scares my kids when it's a stranger every time!) Teenagers who ask the PARENTS, "What should I do with them...?" Wasting 35 minutes out of a 40 minute class just talking to the kids and swimming around themselves. Starting class 12 minutes late to a 30 minute class. Unacceptable.
Most of the classes for levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 have largely looked the same (with a couple of exceptions of exceptional lessons from substitute teachers). That is not encouraging! A swim lesson for "water acclimation Level 1" for a 2 year old should look nothing like "stroke introduction Level 4" for a 5 year old.
As a teacher myself, I am BEGGING the YMCA to please train their teachers and raise the bar. As a parent to three little swimmers, I am BEGGING the YMCA to improve the quality of their swim lessons for the safety of my children and the wasted money leaving my wallet.

I have been coming here for almost a year I think or a year. I don't remember but I was here when Victoria, Brittney and the regular day care workers were here. It was literally family. I felt safe leaving my kids at daycare. Since the new year it has become an utter joke. All of the old daycare staff is pretty much gone except for 3 regulars. Because corporate decided that they couldn't bring their kids in with them anymore. Mind you one was breastfeeding her new born baby. Since then the day care has been a swinging door of workers. Everytime I come in it's some new literally kids they hired. Today we came in to a 16 year old working and one of the life guards covering a shift. Not only is it traumatizing for the parents leaving their kids with utter strangers. Your so desperate for workers your hiring ANYONE. How is that safe for MY kids. Your not filtering anyone out. Not only that but it's traumatizing for the kids. They get attached to kids and then the next time we come in they are gone and it's someone new again. Its this constant swinging door. I dont know what the deal is but it needs to stop now or we are leaving the Y and going to airway heights rec center instead. I don't feel safe leaving my kid here anymore. It's unprofessional and it's not safe or supportive emotionally for the parents or the kids. Its a community gym. It used to feel like I had a village when I came here and now its just strangers.
We have since switched to the central Y and it's been amazing.

The owner is a very nasty, disrespectful, confrontational, and overly sensitive individual who argues against the honest reviews of their members. The owner feels the need to lie to defend their filthy sauna and locker rooms especially at the Central Y, there has been a bandage on a shower stall for over 3 months, they do not properly scrub and sanitize these areas. The owner stated they encourage their lifeguards to pick and choose what rules they enforce, theyβd rather harass someone doing a few pushups by themselves in the sauna, while saying nothing about people not showering before entering the hot tub or pool, they can be covered in sweat or just take their shoes off and put their feet in, owner says thatβs fine. Then you want to challenge me saying I should bring this to your management. Check your communication with your management before making ASSsumptions. Itβs easy and respectful to share the only studio space but, you clearly have no respect for members do you? Many do not need your groups yet you seem proud that fell alienated from the parts of the gym we need throughout much of the day. You choose to condemn your members rather simply speak up to your instructors, itβs sad that you have a problem with others outside of your groups using the gym, you seem to have a severely skewed perspective. Maybe you can work on your sensitivity and cope better with reality, you donβt have to cry and fight with people who leave entirely reasonable and honest reviews about your failed services. Do better.

Very disappointed in the interaction we just had with front staff when we went to buy day passes to swim with our kids. We are new to the area and have been wanting to join the YMCA, but now we will look elsewhere. I called ahead to make sure open swim was available. Upon walking in, the front desk workers were annoyed to have to help people. We told them we were there to swim for the day and they sighed and said to eachother, is the open swim even open. I explained I just called and was told it was. They then proceed to ask for IDs from my husband and I, which I brought mine, but my husband did not because we were swimming. He said, I don't know ow what to tell you, you have to have your ID to swim. I understand policies and rules, but front desk staff should be welcoming, inviting and apologetic when they have to turn people away.

We have had a membership here multiple times through the years (10 or so) and finally said forget it once and for all. The hours they typically have had for open swim are during times when kids are in school or evening when they are home eating dinner. Roughly. There was a time (maybe it isnt this way still?) When the open swim in afternoon was around the time school got out but it was short lived before activities started up that took over the pool. So confusing. How is that family friendly? Makes literally no sense.
In reply to YMCAs reply - this has been really many years. Well before covid. But I appreciate their reply

This ymca is not for families! As much as it tries to cater to families it does not. Anytime we have gone to swim with our kids there is a water aerobics class in the pool and they do not let our family swim during this class even though there are lifeguards available and no one else in the pool! It is so frustrating. The kicked us out of the pool and we sat and watched the lifeguards look at an empty pool for the next 2 hours. But for some reason we were now allowed to swim!!!! Sooooo frustrating! The gym is always taken over by pickle ball and only a few hours in the evening dedicated to family time in the gym! We got a membership to utilize the facility for our homeschool family and it is not working out! We are very disappointed! This gym also is needing an overhaul and update! This is a picture of the pool when we were kicked out because it was not family swim and the lifeguard watching 2 adults swim, that left shortly after taking this pic and then the lifeguard was watching no one! This gym is the worst!!!

Only went here one time & it was the worst gym experience Iβve ever had. There was only 1 squat rack & 1 smith machine. The smith machine was too close to the wall to do hip thrusts & I dropped it from a standing position & it took a solid 30 seconds to go down to waste level. ( aka a weird residence that shouldnβt be there) The squatting rack was taken for over an hour by someone who was do 90% of their workout with dumbbells & on the floor, but hogged the machine for some reason. ( not proper gym etiquette ) The cardio machines & other workout machines are way too close together! I was almost hitting the person next me on the elliptical.
Giving it 3 stars bc of all this, but child watch was good.

I am very happy to be at the Y all these years. Today I am concerned about the threat of the Covid virus, and I have arrived with a small Lysol spray container, as well as Chlorox wipes for each station I use in the weight room, and the TRX straps I use. I am attempting to make sure I spray every exercise station I use, until this virus is over.
Though the Y has always suggested we do this, I am now more active than ever! Perhaps it would be good to offer these types of sanitary tools to members when they enter the Y, when they pick up their towels.
Regards,
Burke

Too many people use perfume and cologne and itβs extremely uncomfortable to breathe! I complained and was told that there is nothing they can do about it even though itβs against their policy. I was asked βwho did I smelled it onβ but itβs not my job to go around and sniff people and point our and report them. I love all locations of the ymca in Spokane but this one is my favorite. My daughter loves going here to play while I workout and I love that I can fully trust all staff β€οΈ The customer service is also great. I'm always greeted when coming and going. The classes and instructors are informative and fun! I Love this place and have been going for the last 4 years. It has everything you need and it's affordable.

I called to get my daughter into swim lessons over 2 weeks ago. The guy spent a while getting her profile set up (We are not members) and when he got to the end was unable to register us because of that. He told me to call back right before lessons start. I called today to make sure they were still taking people for swim lessons and they assured me they were and that I was able to register her once we got to the facility. I didn't have a card with me at the time I was on the phone so I did not pay over the phone. I got there at 5:40, lessons were supposed to started at 6:15, and was told that they canceled them because no one signed up. Uh hello me. I just called. Not happy. I wasted my time getting myself and my daughter ready. The front desk gal tried putting the blame on everyone and seemed as though she did not care. The guy that was up there was a tiny bit more helpful. Long story short if they would have just told me over the phone things were canceled until their next classes I would have been fine, but the customer service was that bad. We are now no longer even considering the Y and will go else where because of their customer service.

This is my favorite YMCA in the area. They have the best times for swimming classes, it's not jam packed for working out, and the classes are always super fun! It is WELL WORTH THE MONEY and we will continue to go as often as we can!

Thank You YMCA, because of the Child Watch Center its been a great HELP I can exercise after work in the evening and get a great workout and improve my health. My child and I both love to come to the YMCA, we use a lot of the amentities, such as the rock climbing wall, big swimming pool and hot tub, child watch, exercise machines, basket court. The staff are so nice and welcoming and help with great care. Its been a great experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

If you are really serious about your workouts, the weight area may seem a little crammed. I'm not that serious about it so it's perfect for me. The staff is friendly and always willing to answer any questions you have. The pool area is taken care of, as are the locker rooms. The basketball court floor was even redone recently, but they could use some better unwarped basketballs. Great classes for elderly and even swimming lessons for the kids. There is a lot to like about the Y.

Was accosted while walking through the parking lot, told to either buy a day pass or leave. It was pretty ridiculous, as far as just walking respectfully through a parking lot. If there was ever a chance of me joining or even donating money to this organization it's completely gone. If this is how you treat people who aren't customers, I'm sure you won't gain any new ones

The YMCA is very friendly very clean and lots of fun great place to take your children. And if for some reason you would like to go on a regular basis you can get a year pass depending on your income. I was amazed at how great the price was for my family. I am disabled so I cannot afford much but they made it affordable. Thank you so much YMCA you guys are wonderful keep up the good work

Love going here! Been going here since I was young. Great place to work out and play basketball! It would be nice to have another basketball court at some point because everytime I show up to play, there is a Zumba class or whatever that takes up half the gym. Besides that great place to go!

Our family enjoys this gym but have two major concerns: Their website is completely useless (event calendar misses items and isn't accurate). Also, we've seen two price increases in one year.
We may go elsewhere soon.

So far the services and the experience has been amazing! Staff is friendly, the areas are clean (besides a few gym goers who do not seem to wipe down the equipment they're using). There is so much to this place and for a great price. We paid the same price for our previous gym and didn't even get a quarter of the activities that the Y provides. AND THE 2 FREE HOURS OF CHILD CARE!? That's what sold it! Absolutely Amazing

We booked a pool party here for our twins 2nd birthday. The staff was not very friendly. The party room was dirty. There was literally pink frosting smeared on several chairs. The tables had cake and crumbs on them, I even stepped in someone's gum.
When we got to the pool the life gaurd close to the slide and little kid area seemed angry. One time he shouted "I SAID WALK!!!" Followed by him holding his head and sighing (loud enough for all to hear). It really seemed weird how irritated he was.
Could have been an off day for...everyone?
Luckily the kids were unphased and had fun. I won't be booking another party there though. Thanks, but no thanks.

Clean facilities and friendly staff. The weight room is a bit small--just one squat rack, for example, and not much space for dead lifts--but it has all the necessary equipment. Dumbbells go to 130lbs, circuit training is limited but all lifts are covered, and the machines are in good condition. There are plenty of treadmills, bikes, etcetera for the facility's size. If you're an avid lifter, plan to switch up your workout order and swap lift types during the busy times.

DO NOT BOOK FOR KIDS PARTY!
We made pool party reservations at the Valley YMCA for my son's birthday. They have a great kids pool with a water slide, sounded like a good idea. There was a very rigid schedule for when the kids had to be in the party room and when they could swim. After one hour in the party room, we would all be escorted into the pool area. Ten minutes before our scheduled pool time, I went to ask if we could start the pool time early because the kids were all very excited to swim. I was then informed that someone had diarrhea in the kiddie pool and it was closed for the remainder of the day. We were told we could swim in the lap pool or use the gym instead. With everyone dressed and prepared for swimming, the lap pool was really our only option. They booked another party group in our room immediately after ours so while all the kids headed off to swim, we were forced to clean out the room entirely while the other party group moved in. They had only one small area of the lap pool open for the kids to swim in, although 2/3 of lap lanes were EMPTY. They refused to open up more swimming room, leaving the very small open swim area EXTREMELY crowded with our 15+ kids in addition to all the other swimmers forced to use that area after the other pool closed. The whole experience was a complete disappointment and total waist of money!

By far the best gym experience I've had. It does get crowded, so don't disregard the times that the Google display says that it is busy because it truly is. Someone stated in a previous review that some of the members are a bit snooty, I agree with this, but can work around it. The gym is upstairs, which isn't bad at all, until you've finished your leg day and have to walk back down them, hoping you don't fall down them instead (although there is an elevator too). The showers that are decently private, i luff that so much. But really, the gym I was at before was a crappy TV dinner, the YMCA is a surf and turf meal served with dessert.

Not going to sugar coat this one. Even though it has a plethora of equipment and of course a rock climbing wall it is usually always busy and crowded. Of course if you do not like screaming children running in and out of the locker room then this is not the place for you.

I live off less then $11,000 a year have child (Did have 4 in home at time of request) and I could not pay to go to YWCA. I was told for me and my children it would be over $350.00 a year. I am on SSI and was Heart Broken by this, for when I was in my Teens it would have been Free to the Poor. Now it is a luxury the Poor must go without. Now I did look for sponsors and such to no eval, yet here I write once again Dreaming of my Son (16) going to the YWCA and getting the help he needs as well as my MUCH NEEDED water therapy. Do to 27+ year in construction movement comes with a price, to gain back mobility warm water therapy is needed. So for now the YWCA get ONE STARE do to the fact they forgot why they are here! When they remember I will give them back the "Five Stare" review they had before 2001.Then here in 2014 they said I could join for $10 a month, when I said I cannot afford to buy TP every month they said to bab.... nothing has happened since.

friendly people and caring staff. I've only been here twice and loved it each time I went. although it seemed a bit crowded the first time never had trouble getting a machine or weight I needed.
The staff seemed knowledgeable, helpful and had no trouble answering my questions even though I wasn't a member.
The facility appeared clean and had newer equipment. The lockers seemed a bit small for my bag but I pack a lot sometimes. the pool and got tub were great clean and they didnt have too chlorine.
overall great facility and friendly staff made this gym a top among my picks for future memberships.

The customer service over the phone is very abrupt and uncaring. I called to find out answers to a few questions. She was very matter of fact in her responses. I have found this to be the case with most personnel I have interacted with at all three Y locations. There are many other exercise facilities that I know will greet you with a smile and treat you like a human being over the phone. I will be resigning my membership as the customer service aspect is just as important as the exercise facilities to me.
