Summit Has a great vibe, specializing in bouldering. With a gym on one side and bouldering walls on the other... this home town climbers paradise is a perfect place to hone your skills on the wall.

Summit Everett was a great little place for bouldering and a gym workout. Very clean and well set up. Registration, waivers and a day pass were very easy to get through. The walls are super grippy so watch out for your nails, elbows and knees. Some of their starts were a little scrunched for me at 6', but as stated the walls are super grippy so you can starts with your feet wherever you want. I would certainly recommend a visit if you are in the area and I hope to return next year when I am up for the Ren Faire.

Expensive, really annoying waiver process (have to watch a video while the staff just sits there, who can be walking you through the rules). Unfriendly staff every time I’ve come. Most recent experience went to watch friends climb (like you can do at literally any other gym), said I could watch, 10 mins later asked me to fill out a waiver, 15 mins later told me to leave or pay.

Unfortunate to lose the belaying sections during the move, but the new gym space has basically everything you'd need and the climbing section is still large enough to enjoy an afternoon spent. Biggest plus is that they don't do subscription based memberships like PF, 24hr Fitness, etc. Want to try the gym out for a guilt free month? Just pre-pay for that month. Know you'll be coming back for a year? Buy a year!

Came in to check the gym out and was suuuuuper disappointed. Guy at the desk was as helpful as getting a handle stuck in deep mud. Granted new equipment, but there are three gyms on the same block. Two of them (not including this one) have excellent community vibes. Everett needs more strong community businesses. Looking forward to this one dying off.
**Update after owner review. This is the sort of ungrateful behavior that is obvious. A simple: "we don't allow dogs, can you leash outside", or simply looking up from your phone? Review stands. This is not a place of community. Good luck.

This is their new place. It’s definitely nicer than the last place, but a little smaller. They do bouldering and the other half is a gym. I feel like you get more bang for your buck now. People are super nice and helpful. I really like this place.

The setting at the new location really surprised me. It is absolutely fantastic! The setters are true artists and they are friendly professionals, always happy to answer my questions about tricky beta.

If you are a connoisseur of climbing movement, don't miss a chance to check this place out.

Was a member of the original gym, life got busy but just joined the new location and it’s been awesome. I can bring my kids in and have a blast with the wide range of sets and then come in after hours and feel like I have the whole gym to myself self. Stoked to be back, great gym and great staff.

Staff has been friendly, and the gym fits my needs perfectly. The 24/7 access was a huge selling point for me as I can only workout around my kid's bedtimes. They also have their own parking which is nice sometimes.

I'm a beginner when it comes to climbing, so the rentals included in the membership gives me time to figure out what shoe suits me. There aren't as many routes as other gyms or things like a spray wall, but unless you climb everyday and/or are really advanced there should still be enough to do. The upside is it never gets crowded. They do have hang boards for those interested. My main complaint is they don't have rentals outside of staffed hours.

The gym area has the basics for cardio, machines, and free weights. Should have everything you need to get a workout in, but for people who need a machine for every body part it'll seem lacking.

One month in to the new Summit Everett so it’s time for a review!
First off I’d like to say that I am very happy Summit Everett is here and I’ll be continuing my membership with them for the foreseeable future. Opening a rock gym in downtown Everett is not an easy venture and it’s very cool that it exists.
The facility is very nice. It is clean, well lit, in good order and with 24hr access it’s got all the right stuff to make a gym attractive. Whether you are climbing or using the regular weights and treadmill its a very good space.
Since their move they transitioned to just bouldering from both bouldering and top rope and I think this was a good move. It makes the walls in the gym more accessible to everyone and can introduce more people to climbing. I won’t call bouldering an intro to top rope like some folks but it is easier to get into and I think this switch was the right move.
So what could be improved?
A quick note about me so you can tell where I’m coming from. I’m at Summit for the rock walls and haven’t used the weights or tread mills. I’m a climber since I was young and have an ankle handicap since birth. This means I’m about a 5.12-/v5 climber and won’t excel too much beyond that. Including Summit Everett I have climbed four gyms in the PNW both bouldering and ropes and those skill levels are pretty consistent.
At Summit I cap at a v4, somewhere between their yellow and blue bands. Summit sets hard. This makes it a very difficult place for beginners. The Vermin scale has a lot of wiggle room so it isn’t that they aren’t setting according to scale it’s that within the scale they set about as hard as they can. You will not find a VB route here. If you are coming from anywhere else in the area kick your climbing level down a notch.
My experience is that Summit is also largely a test of physical prowess. Technique and problems solving are not as stressed. The routes meet their difficulty level based on whether you have the strength for a dynamic movement, can grip a hold, or have the reach to progress. I have yet to fail to complete a route at because I didn’t think through it correctly or didn’t have the technique. These challenges are as important to a skilled climber as the raw physical.
Lastly, more wall space. The more options to climb the better. The weekly updates are good but more options would be awesome. This is a big ask for the recently reopened gym so I realize this likely isn’t something that can be quickly fixed but I wanted to put it out there because I think it would be very beneficial.
Overall, I’m very happy that. Summit Everett is here and I’m looking forward to my time there and seeing the gym grow! Thank you Summit!

I've been coming to this gym since it's inception 6 years ago. Formerly 2 other climbing gyms before it's time dating to the '90s, the building itself is old but has lots of character and love.

An intimate climbing gym with plenty of rope routes, although with walls on the shorter side around 25ft, and 3 bouldering sections including 15-45Β° and slab, with corner features and even a short lead roof.

The climbing is generally "old school" try hard but the new age setting crew brings fantastic inspiration and modern setting techniques. You'll definitely pull hard here.

Arguably the best aspect of this gym is the community and family-type feel of the environment. I've met all of my current best friends here, and I see these relationships lasting lifetimes. Everyone is friendly, pushing each other but not without having loads of fun. I will always love this gym.

I stopped by here for a quick climb while returning to Seattle from vacation. The staff was super friendly and signing up, completely the waver, and taking the belay test for rope took less than 15 minutes. The routes were fun and it was nice to climb away from my home gym.

My Mother was judging a youth competition here one weekend. She asked me to judge in the afternoon as they were short judges. I agreed. Told her Lukus (my service animal) and I could come down and help out. She let the staff know that I have a service animal and that's not a problem. I get the all clear (even though technically, I don't need it).

I show up that afternoon to be welcomed by a guy that felt it necessary to lecture me in front of a lobby packed with families. Telling me loudly for all to hear that if my dog behaves in any manner other than a service dog is expected to behave that he'll kick me out so fast etc... Three times. He repeated the same thing becoming more aggressive and increasingly authoritive each time. Meanwhile my dog is in the heel position directly at my side not bothering anybody as he was trained to do as a service animal.

It was so embarrassing and belittling I just left. I did not feel welcome there nor did I want to be there. I doubt anyone else started their visit with a stern lecture on their behavior and what will happen if they don't adhere to how they're expected to act. Whatever that means.

In closure the answer is definitely no. I do not recommend this place. At no point did my dog or I exhibit any behavior that would warrant being lectured in such an aggressive manner.
Zero stars if I could.

I stopped coming here two years ago because of a series of bad experiences involving incredibly rigid rules (far more than any climbing gym I've been to) and rude and unfriendly staff

I recently got sucked back into coming again for their February challenge. They had lost the record of my belay check and the autobelay orientation, so I had to redo them. I failed the belay test because I used a non approved technique (which is the same technique I have used many times in climbing gyms, INCLUDING THIS ONE). Their website does not specify that the approved technique is only PBUS, nor was this mentioned before the belay check. Furthermore, the employee doing the belay check still had me do the entire thing despite knowing I wouldn't pass, and at the end was not forthcoming about what technique was appropriate, suggesting I research "another technique" on the internet. Why not just tell me what this one technique actually is? I'm not expecting a lesson, just tell me the name. If you require a specific way to belay, that should be made clear. It shouldn't be a journey to figure it out via trial and error.

Additionally, the one staff member I interacted with managed to make me feel unwelcome and also stupid during every interaction I had with her. Do not recommend. Go to Vertical World. Go anywhere else. If that's not feasible, find a different hobby altogether because this place does not provide an atmosphere that makes climbing enjoyable.

Edited to add: I subsequently discovered a sign taped to their wall explicitly listing three acceptable belay methods, one of which I was failed for using.

I drove down from Bellingham to check out this climbing gym. I will never go back! The girl that did our belay test was so rude that my friends and I almost left before we even started climbing. We felt incredibly unwelcome.
I climbed at this gym back when it was Vertical World Everett and found it odd that they turned almost a quarter or more of the top rope walls into bouldering, and removed the original bouldering wall.

Summit is a place for beginners and veterans alike, The staff are great and knowledgeable. As a person of short height fear I was able to overcome it with their guidance. The Belay Class is informative and taught me all the skills to be confident on my own.

Class is $50, upon completion you get two weeks free reign of the facility and free rentals to boot. After two weeks you can take an official test and get your Belay License!

Also, they have bouldering available too!

Note: Open pretty much every day, of course times change for holidays.

Check the place out! Oh, how can I forget, the community is awesome and super supportive.

This is one of the bigger climbing places I've been to. So many different walls to climb and couches to sit on if you just prefer to watch. Employees are informative and helpful. You can free climb (bouldering) or you can use the auto belay system which is nice for beginners because you can't fall. They also have other belay areas for more advanced climbers who want to climb with a buddy. It's a little expensive if you've got to rent shoes, but you can climb all day. The worst part about this place is that parking is very minimal. Besides that, no complaints.

The problems were set great, the staff was great. Whomever was working tonight was a good worker and very accommodating.

So why the 3 stars?

There was an event hosted tonight (12/12/2022) that seemed to be focused with kids. Which in itself is fine.

However the kids had a blatant disregard for the whole place that when there is only two (maybe three) staff on duty, is just overwhelming.

There needs to be a better enforcement. One kid sprinted up the wall, and hung himself upside down from a random jug while he clearly had just climbed over another climber who was already doing a problem.

Another one stepped on my hand while traversing. And another one kicked my camera setup while sprinting and screaming across the entire venue.

The mothers were complicit, encouraging their kids to do this so they can get cool "action shots".

I was just a guest, but if I had known such a youth event existed. I would probably never come here again.

To the owners of the gym. Love the setting, love that there is an auto belayer. Love the staff, and that you accommodate events (I was a guest due to an unrelated overlapping event on the same day), but there needs to be more enforcement of the rules to youths.

Yes kids are kids. But when parents themselves are encouraging this behavior, it just doesn't look good. The noise level was louder than Chuck E Cheese, I didn't need to wear my hearing aids to know how loud it was.

First off: I absolutely love coming here. The staff are wonderful, the climbing is good, and the people who go here are nice and respectful.

The place has a good variety of top rope and bouldering problems, and it's amazing what they do with what they have.

It's not a 5 star place, because the routes are not the cleverest all of the time, and the range tends to be (normally) too easy or too hard. It's rare to find a route that I can get after projecting it because it's either done in one or two tries, or it's way above my skill level

I love that it's in Everett, and want it to stay as long as possible!

I love climbing gyms. This one's pretty tiny, but they have a great variety of difficult rope grades. They have some harder TR routes than both vertical world's. That being said, the walls could use a new texture job. They've all been smoothed out over the years, so that smearing is almost impossible.

Update: Since my last review I've heard about some less than agreeable things regarding the managers and owners. Including a manager coming in late to a training they were leading while intoxicated. Also multiple allegations of sexual harassment. Also a lack of organization and respect for their employees. Statements such as "you're all replaceable" do not create a welcoming environment for staff.
Because of these factors I can no longer in good faith recommend this climbing gym. Hopefully their management issues can be resolved so that I can once again recommend this gym.

I love Summit! I’ve been to a few other climbing gyms and I definitely think Summit has the best atmosphere and the absolute BEST staff! Everyone is so wonderful, friendly and helpful. I took the top rope class and it was fantastic! can’t wait to take my next class!

Great little climbing gym in Everett!!! I’m a beginner recreational climber and I enjoy coming here for some good stress relief. Intro class was great, too.

Not the best for a few reasons. Then again, not even really bad. Overpriced and lacking management are two downsides I would assert.

One fun fact I learned about is that you cannot "hold" (temporarily suspended) membership in the circumstances that you are injured or away from hometown. This clearly isn't ethical, inconsiderate constraints like that provide reasons for me to disapprove of this place.
Even if you make +100k/yr, this place is not exactly worth it. A billionaire purchasing a $50 cheeseburger is a fool, no matter how good it tastes or how affordably it was obtained.

Are you new to climbing? Check this spot out. They’ll make you feel like a newb the second you walk through the door. I guarantee it.

Gym looked nice and clean. Front Desk Fellow, shall be referred to as Tommy hence forth, was over the top with the condescension and was the type of climber you’re literally warned about. You know, that super elitist type.

To be fair, most of the staff were super nice. The crowd the place draws in is also a plus. They’re super chill and courteous of the other climbers in the gym.

Music is fail. Super fail. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tommy made the playlist. He probably named it, β€œGlory Days”. But it’s a quick fix: bring headphones.

Two stars for a presentable gym and a crowd worth climbing for. I’ll check them out again.

Get better soon, Tommy, that boot isn’t gonna hold you down forever. Change that outlook and that attitude.

Took my 6 year old and had options for both of us. Friendly staff, equipment available for rent, great "bouldering wall" and 4 options for self retracting climbs. I'd highly recommend.

Summary: As a business, Summit is very unprofessional, untrained, disorganized, and clueless when something doesn't fit the script. I have had multiple occasions when they published a deal on their web site and when i got there the untrained employee who didn't know details just made something up and caused a bad experience. (Ex: ladies night, student night, etc..) Also the "guest passes"; the first time i tried using mine the employee at the desk couldn't figure it out and my friend had to pay to use the gym and it took me three days of phone calls to "clear it up" by escalating up to someone who actually had a clue how the computer system works. Side note the "clear it up" solution did NOT end up getting my friend his money back. He's never coming back thats for sure.

The final death nail for me was when I came down with a bad illness and asked for them to work with me by putting my monthly dues on hold even though the month was already a couple weeks in but they refused telling me "i had plenty chances to call in before the month started" except i was BED RIDDEN and calling the gym wasn't my top priority. Bad business decision to tell a customer with a serious illness too bad. When i get better I'm definitely not going back to Summit.

Do yourself a big favor and sign up at VERTICAL WORLD, they have a new location opening up near by.

I like this gym a lot. Staff is friendly and helpful. Routes seem to be true to ratings from what I gather. I'm climbing 10d/11a right now and there plenty to choose from and I see new routes set often.

Being my first experience indoor rock climbing in Washington, I'm far from disappointed! Amazing customer service made my friend and I feel very welcome. Not to mention the great condition of the place!
The gear that we rented was in good condition and didn't smell used. 🧦
A very friendly atmosphere with climbing walls for most ages.
Also a small gym in the back that was great for a pump after two hours of climbing!πŸ’ͺ

I highly recommend coming here if you're ever in the area and ready for a challenge! πŸ§—β€β™‚οΈβ›°οΈ

My kiddos and I just spent two hours climbing here for the first time. Easy and quick sign up process with friendly, knowledgeable staff that is eager to answer questions and explain the rules and regulations to climbing safely. We has fun. Great little place for burning tons of stored up energy. My daughter liked that there was a tightrope available too. We will be back for sure!

My girls (8 &12) and their Girl Scout troop had a blast climbing. I didn’t participate myself, but I do indeed want to surprise my husband and take him here for a date! I think we’d enjoy it just as much as our little ladies. The employees explained everything crystal clear and made our nervous younger girl excited to climb.
