The Bar Method Phinney Ridge is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. Not only does Bar Method reshape your entire body, but it allows you to channel your inner strength and leave class feeling strong, confident, and poised. Expertly trained instructors customize the barre exercises to ensure they are safe and effective for every body, including pregnancy modifications and injuries. I know other people have tried to talk to you about turning down your music. 6:00am is way too early to be blastin music into people’s bedrooms. Honestly not sure why other attempts have been met with no effort. Really disappointed to see previous responses that you have addressed the problem when you’ve actually done nothing.

Visited this studio while I was on vacation & missing my hometown bar method studio. This studio is gorgeous, clean, and full of friendly and helpful faces. This place is a joke. Imagine claiming to care about people’s health and then destroying the health of dozens of people for money. Did you know the entire first and second floor of the apartment they are under has been BEGGING them to turn their music down? Imagine having music pound into your apartment complex early in the morning and all day. No escape. No reprieve. Even noise cancellation headphones won’t drown it out. We’re trapped in our leases. And they couldn’t care less.

Energizing music with really attentive instructors and supportive environment. The workouts are SO HARD but they encourage you every step of the way and make sure you’re doing the movements right so you don’t hurt yourself and get the most of your time. They taught me how to work my abs without straining my neck, and how to optimize recovery. Lots of variety in the workouts and even in instructors so you really can’t get bored.

Imagine having a car sit outside your house all day with their bass so loud that all you can hear is constant pounding, everyday all day. That’s what it’s like living in the apartments attached to them because they won’t just turn their bass down to make living here not hell. It’s like the audio version of the water drip torture. I can even hear it with ear plugs in. The only reason I will 100% be moving out.

I've been attending Bar Method for a while now, and I can't recommend it enough! Even after 450 classes, it still feels like the first day -at the same time, I can feel the difference in my strength and endurance; it’s amazing how you continue to challenge yourself. I started attending Bar Method classes this summer and quickly fell in love with these group classes. Kat and Mari have done a great job adjusting to COVID times. Classes take place outside or on Zoom. For outdoor classes everyone has their own personal bar and you are well spaced from other participants so everything is safe and clean. Kat, Mari and all of the instructors bring so much energy and joy to all of the classes! I am looking forward to in-studio classes.

Yes. Yes, you do want to come check this place out. Stop wondering about it and do it. I’d been curious about this for years and finally tried it during during the pandemic and it works so well for me right now. The *flexibility* that Mari and Kat and the team and working to provide right now is aMAZing. Classes of different lengths, at home or in studio, at different times of day. What else can I say that hasn't already been said!? I've been enjoying Bar Method for years now. What keeps me coming back is the lovely, knowledgable staff and the fresh takes on classic techniques. Popping in to update my review! Still love this spot and I still get a great workout everytime. The new classes and exercises are great so you're always experiencing something different. The friendly staff keeps me coming back!

I was a regular at SLU, now I'm a regular at Phinney Ridge! Kat and Mari opened the studio in the middle of the pandemic. I commend them as it isn't easy starting a business let alone starting one when many were on the verge of closing. Thankfully they succeeded and brought the same energy and staff over from SLU! The instructors always make sure they know each person's name. You can tell that they're invested in you getting the best workout possible. I feel challenged everytime and have seen the results of that hard work straight away. It's my fave workout and I highly recommend Bar Method to everyone!

Truly not a better barre studio than this in the city!! I had taken several barre classes at other places before, knew I loved the workout, and was on a mission to find a studio to commit to. I found The Bar Method on ClassPass and after two classes in, I was hooked. Back in January I found myself in a slump. I was unmotivated and my body felt the weakest it’s ever been. I needed to feel strong again. Putting on YouTube Pilates just wasn’t cutting it and I could not pull myself out of my slump on my own. This location is close enough for me to walk to and I was willing to try anything to get myself excited about exercising again. It’s safe to say I am now completely obsessed. I love that you can modify all movements, whether you need more of a challenge or you’re accommodating an injury or you just need to build more strength. The instructors and the girls at the front desk all know your name and introduce themselves if you haven’t met yet. They’re welcoming and have amazing energy. The best part is that they provide you with feedback and encouragement on your movement not only for your safety but also so you can improve and really feel the workout as it was intended. There’s a variety of classes (the cardio one is so intense) and the instructors mix it up so you don’t do the same routine over and over. I actually debated leaving this review because I want to gatekeep the location so it doesn’t get too packed but they really deserve all the praise. It’s clean, welcoming, and well worth the money. 10000000/10

I’ve always hated class workouts because I dislike the vulnerability that comes with exercising in front of strangers. But I live across the street from this studio so I had to try.

They are the sweetest, most supportive people you could ever hope to meet in your life…each and every single person working there. I’m moving from Seattle this month so I had to say goodbye - but I got to spend 1 amazing year with this studio and it changed my life.

UPDATE: It’s been a year since my last review and this studio has grown so much! It started out with mostly outdoor and zoom classes but now they’re doing indoor classes as well as offering new class formats, so there’s something for everyone! Kat and Mari have done an amazing job with the studio, major props to these ladies for opening a studio during the pandemic! I relocated to Seattle this spring. And have been grateful each and every time I have gone to class at Barr method. I feel more confident about myself, and about my choice to live in Seattle. The workout is excellent. Extremely impactful because I can go to a class every day, feel myself get stronger, and taller, but not so sore that I can’t get up and do it again the next day. The teachers are extremely profesional, and give me and my fellow students great feedback as to avoid injury. Plus positive feedback when they see us working correctly too. The studio is clean and organized all the way down to the props we use in class. LOVE, LOVE LOVE The Bar Method! It is such an incredible full body exercise that is also good for the mind and soul. I've tried many exercise routines over the years and it is the only one I've stuck with and look forward to doing. Even during COVID shutdowns, Kat and Mari managed to find ways to open and deliver classes. Classes are available in person outside under a canopy- (yay legwarmers!) as well over zoom. And if you cant make a live zoom class, you will get a recording of it as well.

I have been a regular devotee to Bar Method for the past 6+ years and after attending other studios that sadly closed in the pandemic, I was so thrilled to join this community. The owners, Mari and Kat, are amazing women, teachers, and small business owners and the studio offers a variety of Zoom online and outdoor in-person classes under the current WA state guidelines. I have been doing bar method on and off for eight years (Newport Beach, Palo Alto and now Seattle) and always find myself returning to this effective workout. Kat and Mari have done an amazing job of keeping classes running as Inslee keeps modifying and extending COVID restrictions. I miss hands-on modifications, but love the small class sizes that allows instructors to constantly offer adjustments and reminders to allow me to get into the exercise for maximum pain and benefit. I have been a regular participator in the Bar Method’s approach to exercise for the past nine years, attending several Bar Method studios in the area and in other states. I am 66 years old and have exercised most of my life, but in my early 50’s, my preferred form of exercise—-long-distance running—-was no longer a viable option, as my knees began to experience quite a bit of damaging wear and tear. After trying biking, working out at a gym, and power walking, among a variety of other things, I was finally introduced to the Bar Method. I was hooked immediately because this approach works all of the muscle groups to the point of fatigue and then stretches them, which keeps me from creating bulky muscles but rather long, lean, functional muscles. The Phinney Ridge studio has managed to weather the storms of COVID-19, offering a variety of class options in a safe and healthy way, both in person and online. Their service is a true example of high quality combined with genuine caring and problem-solving, at a time when the problems have been coming hard and fast all year.
