Chelsi is an amazing teacher! Although I've been practicing for a long time this was my first hot class. Chelsi led us through a steady practice that had options for all levels. Would definitely take her class again.

I've practiced traditional hot yoga at The SweatBox Yoga a number of times. I found the teachers to be welcoming and friendly. And the room to be pleasantly heated. It’s a beautiful studio with all essential amenities and services. In reading other reviews, I agree there is no direct teacher to student feedback or corrections during class. However, the teachers often provide additional dialogue to remind students of proper alignment and how best to move through poses. And they will also demonstrate poses during class. With the aid of mirrors, and a focus on the dialogue, it’s possible to improve and grow in one’s practice. Much respect for the studio, for teaching from a trauma-informed view, and allowing and asking that students communicate their learning style individually to each instructor.

I have been going here off and on since 2015, and no matter how many other studios I have tried via Groupon, I always come back to this community. Manzi and Chelsi are my faves and I would recommend any class they offer.
Things I appreciate:
-the diversity of the staff. I appreciate the perspectives of people from different cultures than mine and the readings, personal philosophy, belifs and different lifestyles across instructors forces me to see yoga from perspectives other than my own.
-community support: for example: promotions to donate to a local legal group supporting women and immigrants, a group supporting trans persons, and Chelsea supporting a specific Palestinian family. All these things speak to a staff who cares for the people of Seattle and the world. Them offering scholarships to BIPOC persons during the yoga teacher training and a free class monthly for BIPOC persons shows to me that their values override profits. The yoga community can be so white, but they stand by this being a community for everyone. Additionally, the have limited spots for cleaners who clean to get free yoga, to allow those without means to practice without worrying about money.
-compassion and support - whether it’s accommodating my requests for alternate poses during an injury (Manzi geeks out on this stuff!) or gentle support when I can’t handle the heat when I rest, the staff is great. I never feel pushed beyond my limits, and they are great about offering alternatives if they see people with limitations or if they can see someone would want a more advanced pose to try.
-other yogis - some yoga studios can almost feel like people are trying to show off and I sometimes feel like I have to push myself because people are watching. Here I feel like I can come as I am, and I can be vulnerable. I think that comes from the community they foster that appreciates diverse bodies, all ages, all levels, all backgrounds. You don’t need to be a size 0 in a full set of lululemon to fit in here. Come as you are and you will be welcomed.

Grateful for this space and I love Frani, the owner, and all her efforts to provide a safe and peaceful space to heal and renew. Frani is one of the most caring and kind individuals I know and is constantly giving back to the community she serves. The entire Sweatbox community rules! Don’t listen to the fake rumors being spread by the disgruntled tenants that play their drums LOUDLY without informing the other tenants of the building and interrupting classes where people pay and make time to come relax and meditate. Kind of a mellow crusher having to hear a loud drum circle mid mediation. If you read any negative comments - it’s a thing - all orchestrated by the tenants below.

As a yogi and member of the community I'm highly disappointed by sweatbox yoga's in yogi-like behavior. Sounds like you need to do some serious Svadhyaya and take some time to reflect on cultural appropriation and how a yoga studio could build bridges not burn them. We all have our rituals and practices and just because you have yoga classes in session does not mean you get to dictate the rituals and practices of your neighbors. Assuming your practice is more important than theirs and asking their schedule to accommodate yours is not just rude, it's displacing a community that needs a safe and healing space arguably more than yours. Migrants and indigenous people are under attack in this country and your studio is about to deprive them of another safe space. I'm happy to boycott your studio until real accountability is held and you show remorse for the people you've harmed.

Saddened and frustrated to learn about the lack of accountability and collaboration this business operates with. This business is more concerned with profit over people, specifically marginalized groups. I will not be supporting this business any longer. They do not value safe spaces and community, instead choose to use their privilege to harass and police those who look for connection through cultural tradition.

I've been going to SweatBox off and on since 2023 as part of my own personal healing journey. Not only are the classes fantastic, so are the instructors. My personal fave instructors are Chelsi, Manzi and Natalia! They always demonstrate poses with modifications for what might work best for any individual, and provide a serene and calm environment to practice yoga in. I find myself coming away from class with a greater sense of mindfulness and peace that I haven't felt at any other yoga studio! I recommend this studio and classes (heated and unheated) to everyone: beginners and seasoned yogi's alike!

Arguably the best studio in all of Seattle. If you’re looking for something that challenges your mind, body and soul, this is the studio for you.
Every teacher is a little different and there is a class for everyone! My particular favorites are Jennifer, Chelsea, Mary snd Jess. Tatiana is also an incredible teacher that is usually upstairs in the unheated loft. Vinyasa is my preferred style, but whether you choose a hot hybrid, a 60 minute power hour or Yin class, you won’t be disappointed. The vibe of this studio is very intentional and judgement free.
Sweatbox is a welcoming, diverse and inclusive space that has offered a lot of healing through movement. While my journey began with alleviating my back pain and getting back into a regular cadence of yoga, it’s flourished in finding community. Don’t sleep on it ;)

I’ve always loved my yin instructors since coming here for a few years. I am concerned with the owners lack of kindness and overall neighborly nature regarding the other people in the building. It’s hard to imagine this can be a reliable place to attend yoga with such hatred and resentment coming from the owner. I do not plan to return until amends are made with neighbors in building and accountability is taken for harm caused. I encourage any prospective or current members to think about how you would want your yoga studio to support your community, especially those with highly impacted identities and experiences.

The workouts are challenging and fun. This place was becoming my favorite yoga studio in Seattle and I was considering becoming a regular through monthly contract. But unfortunately the way how they handled a missed class accusation left me not wanting to come to this place again even though they waived the fee as a “one time grace”. I would have had no problem paying the fee if I actually missed the class. But they said my account showed missed class and the instructor did not recall having me in a class, when I definitely was in the class. But they said they would waive the fee as one time grace…
I don’t think anyone would be ok to be accused of something they did not do and made feel like a liar. Such a shame, really loved the work out.

My first experience with 90 minute Bikram class I was intimidated coming in, but the instructor Parvanah had a distinctive presence and confident voice that helped me stay in the headspace - reassuring, not distracting, instructing not correcting. Within the first few minutes I wasn’t worried about being a beginner or doing it wrong, I was just doing it. I did more than I thought I ever could, I’m looking forward to my next time. I believe this studio is an excellent place for healing, fitness and fun!
I’ve been subscribed for six months consecutively and have had great classes with so many of the teachers. Each and every one of them teaches to a great standard.
I love that the studio has a hot room and a loft for vinyasa and yin. The yin classes have been such a breath of fresh air!
Next, I want to urge anyone that is doubting if they should try hot yoga. I believe it has literally started to heal me - I have new hair growth, my onset carpel tunnel in my right hand has stopped hurting and my lower back doesn’t get strained much anymore. I feel warmer and more at peace. The benefits are certainly there!

My experience at Sweatbox was a breath of fresh air. The moment I walked in I was met with kindness by the teacher Jennifer and even when I walked out I felt so encouraged and uplifted. The class was very well thought out and intentional. I appreciated the thorough cueing and visuals Jennifer provided for us students. A beautiful hot Vinyasa class, one of the best I’ve been to in Seattle. It was really nice to have 30 minutes after class to wind down and take a shower. Such a clean, relaxing, peaceful environment. Thank you Jennifer! And thank you Sweatbox for your commitment to an intentional space to practice and share yoga. Shanti, shanti, shanti :)

yoga teachers (maybe 2)are alright, too many 90 minutes classes, back to back 90 mins schedules and studio never gets wiped down, sweaty floors, open the door to dry up the studio is the theme. Water and bleach will be good. its safer/sanitary to mop the floor up after each class since we dealing with C19. wont say who .. but supports only well practicing yogis.

This is an excellent studio and an example of a small business owner working hard to maintain a solid yoga community in tough times.
Different teachers offer a variety of styles and some unique flows in addition to more traditional Bikram. All of them are focused on cultivating a yoga practice that goes beyond a physical workout - perhaps that’s a turn off for some, but I’d argue it’s a major virtue here.
But honestly what I find most impressive is the commitment to community health - at the start of the pandemic, the owner installed a fancy new air circulation and disinfection system (its UV I think). Plus they’re really clear and communicative about vaccine requirements, contact tracing, and masking - it’s also why teachers are working from the back of the room and avoiding physical contact at the moment. Im as frustrated as anyone that we’re still stuck in a pandemic, but here we are. I’m just grateful that this studio is actively working to provide a safe community environment because I honestly don’t think I would feel comfortable returning to in-person otherwise.

Waste of time and money. It’s hardly different from taking a class on zoom. It’s very, very rare that an instructor will correct your posture (verbally or physically). They do not adjust you. Many instructors are monotone and stay at the back of the room, very easy to tune out.
They say they offer hot yoga, in reality the guides (because they don’t really instruct you) open the door so many times that it’s nowhere near the heat it should be, and they really don’t seem to care.
If you’re looking for guidance this is not the place for you. If you’re looking to improve and learn, not the place. If you’re looking for someone to push you, nudge you on the right direct, not the place for you. It’s really just a place to show up and practice on your own accord, they’ll be there in the background, literally.
I also emailed customer service and no one replied, hence relying on Google reviews.

So I almost didn’t go after reading reviews here. I’m not sure if things changed but the studio was fine. There is no parking and upon calling the studio they had no idea where to even recommend parking (ie a nearby lot or garage). Called ahead after driving around for 20 min; and they were not willing to let me into class less than 5 min late. Don’t waste your time if you’re looking for a compassionate, heart driven community.

I was harassed at this place by an instructor, and later victim-blamed and shamed by the manager/owner.
Here's the story: Signed up recently; went for a 1 hour class; class goes beyond the allotted time (by quite a lot); 5 minutes after the scheduled end I pack up my things and try to leave quietly; the instructor comes running after me and starts harassing me, telling me I can't leave; I'm confused at this behavior and point it out to them that it's way past the scheduled end; the instructor gets angry for some reason and keeps up the harassment.
Later I email the studio telling them about the harassment, and gently requesting them to refund my beginner's pass, Here's what I expected: I simple acknowledgment of the instructor's inexplicable and unreasonable behavior, and my refund.
But here is what I got instead: blaming me for 'distracting' the class and violating the 'yoga etiquette' (since of course the victim of harassment is guilty of distracting students by trying to leave a room in peace 5 minutes after the scheduled end)...and a flat out refusal for a refund.
My simple request to the owner of this place: It's OK that you have a few of my dollars that you have taken from me in addition to giving me the special gift of your brand of harassment. BUT, at least for the sake of community lipservice that you engage in, try not to blame and shame victims of harassment that has taken place *at* your premises.

Despite counting the minutes to the end of class I have felt energized and fantastic ever since I left class this morning.
What is really enticing are the upcoming workshops- a masters Bikram class Frani is teaching, an Inversion class and a Partners Thai Massage class taught by the lead therapist at Drift Mobile Massage, I hear he's a great LMT :)
I'm really interested in getting a pass, especially during these winter months, even though I already have a gym membership.
