Fun power and slab climbing, different wall angles, training boards, and friendly staff and community(: this is the best gym in Seattle. I went to all of them

Best gym in Seattle! An overall amazing experience, from the friendly staff to the thoughtful setting and top-notch facility. The boulders are fun, creative, and well-suited for climbers of all sizes (I’m a shorty and loved it!). The general manager is super helpful, and the crew of setters and staff are knowledgeable, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. We felt right at home, and the extra workout equipment was a great bonus with everything you could need for a full session. Highly recommend!

The setting was pretty good and the weight area was great. Maybe 85% of the gym was set for a comp which meant there were only ~10 problems that were actually graded.

Staff was somewhat friendly. The showers were pretty gross (lots of hair, and moldy curtains) and neither of the shower rooms seemed to actually lock.

Don’t let the small size fool you. This gym is packed with great climbs. The staff is super friendly and routes are changed often so there is always a new challenge. My favorite thing about the gym is the community surrounding it. I have made more friends at this gym than any other. Give it a try!

Overall this is a really nice gym and local community. If you’re serious about climbing or you want to join a dedicated climbing group, this is definitely a good place for you.

I do, however, feel like this gym is not a great place for beginners. I consider myself a very casual climber, though I still have many years of experience. When I came here to get back into the sport, I felt very pressured by staff and other climbers. On day 1 of my class, coaches made it clear they wanted people to work towards being competition ready. Multiple times when I would be minding my own business on a route, I would have people giving me tips or telling me the correct way to climb.

If you’re a beginner or a casual climber who just wants to get up on the wall and have fun, I honestly can’t say this is the gym for that. And that’s okay, it seems like Uplift is really trying to build a brand as a competitive gym. Just be aware of this before signing up.

Their routes are challenging and they have a higher reset rate than any other gym I’ve been to- routes are different everytime I visit. It’s a smaller gym but they maximize wall space and provide for climbers of all levels, although this gym is more difficult than others in the area so prepare to be sore the next day.

Best routesetting around, great staff, climber focused, no circuit (which means no fluff grades) and also incredibly clean. Kind and supportive community.

If someone wanted to improve at bouldering, either via classes or just by doing the darn thing- I'd send them here over any other gym in the area.

This gym is quite small but might have the same amount, if not more, mid-level fun boulder problems than other, bigger gyms. Most people climb in the v4-7, and those are the most common grades here. The setting is very dense on the overhung side as well, great spraywall potential. The grades are mostly on the softer side, pretty typical.

They have 2 system boards. To the owner: your 2024 moonboard set and the tension board 2 are huge selling points, please include that on the gym website, as well as the google maps page!

They have a weights area with hang boards and pull up bars, as well as benches. For climbing specific weighted training, the facilities could not be any better.

They have a yoga spot/loft upstairs with couches and a ping pong table.

The handwashing station by the gym area is genius by the way.

I also really appreciate that this place doesn’t have an initiation fee, and we signed up with the 2 weeks free promo, so that’s fantastic.

We came on Sunday, and it was practically empty, only 4 parties in the whole place at a time. There was no loud cringe music and it felt quite chill. I will see about weekday nights this week and update this section of the post.
Update: some weekday nights it gets busy, but not crowded. Most people tend to be polite and take turns at the walls. No issues here!

All in all, this place is well thought out and made for members, unlike some other gyms that focus resources on their climbing teams.

good gym. I got 10 pass punch card and I can say that I used it happily. Got a bit into climbing unfortunately I always got a not such a nice experience with the staff, never found it such a welcoming place. But It seems like some people like em some dont. So maybe I was the awkward one. Either way this just made me feel like not really coming back after that card expired. But do gotta say the gym is fun to use and the rotation on the walls are consistent enough to always make it fun to use and challenge yourself.

A truly great gym. When I moved to the area from further South in Seattle I had some reservations to start here because the gym was smaller than my previous gym. That being said, they turn over setting SO fast in this gym and set densely enough that there is always something to be working on. I go 2-3 times a week and still can't keep up at times. It's also a gym that is intentionally set up for folks who want to train and improve their climbing with the weight area and boards and has plenty of classes to help you break through plateaus. So when it comes to the climbing experience, it is a 5/5

It's also though a 5/5 when it comes to community. I have only been here a few months and already feel way more connected to the setters and front desk folks than my old gym. I even have met and know the owner which really makes it feel like a approachable community that is in it for the right reasons and I have had several really positive interactions with other climbers just working on stuff together.

Overall, it's a great gym and community and I'm glad I found it!

This was a great gym and I had a great experience, but I would not say this is a beginner gym. It seems like it’s really built and loved by people who have been Climbing for a while. I don’t want to trash on the gym because it is a great place, However, I wouldn’t start your Climbing journey here. I would work your way up at the Seattle bouldering project or other gyms, then start coming to this.

The gym is VERY small. Getting there, we see that just about 25% of the gym is under some revision/repair with part of the foam being uncovered/repaired and the other walls being reset. Okay, fine-- just here for a single session, we can make-do.
The guy at the counter is nice enough and admits that we can't really climb much of the gym at all.
Proceeds to charge us full-price admission for a day-pass.
They have a discounted rate on their website-- dunno why it didn't occur to him to charge us that instead of the full price ($22 discounted to $15 if he had).
If we had had other options nearby, we would have assuredly chosen those instead.

Uplift Climbing truly exceeded my expectations! From the moment I walked in, the staff's friendliness and warmth set the tone for a fantastic climbing experience. What struck me the most was the inclusive and friendly atmosphere among both staff and fellow climbers. It's a community where everyone supports each other, making it a great place for beginners and experienced climbers alike.

The courses here are not only diverse but also provide a good challenge for climbers at all levels. Whether you're just starting out or looking to push your limits, Uplift Climbing has something to offer. Staff are knowledgeable and always ready to provide guidance, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. They’ve got all the equipment and gears you need! Special thanks to Minnie!!

If you're into indoor climbing and want to be part of a community that's as welcoming as it is challenging, I highly recommend Uplift Climbing. It's a five-star experience all around! ⭐⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐

My partner and I took intro to bouldering and had a very fun Saturday afternoon. The instructions were very clear and the value of the lesson was great since it also includes a week of climbing and shoes. Love that it has weights and a pull-up bar/rings so you can really get a full body workout. The gym was very clean. We would definitely buy the punch passes or day passes in the future and invite friends.

I can't believe it took so long for me to check this place out. Finally had a chance to visit during their Downgrade climbing competition! The community and atmosphere were a blast and I really enjoyed the competition problems.

In terms of layout the gym isn't super large, probably the smallest of the bouldering gyms in the area. The density of climbs wasn't super high but this was during a comp so I presume they fill out much more afterwards. Walls are mostly vertical or various degrees of overhanging. No cave climbing though unfortunately. That said they have a moonboard which is always an A+ in my book!

There is also a workout area with weights, exercise equipment and hangboards.

Overall at least for the competition I really enjoyed the setting which was challenging in multiple different styles and I loved the communal atmosphere compared to some.of the bigger gyms around here.

Nice little gym that was not too crowded. You should know if you go here though that it is really quite small, and so there are limited routes for beginners. I am only really good enough to consider the lesser sloped walls, which have a handful of V0-V2s, and I had to share that limited space with other climbers doing other routes. Everyone was nice about it though. My nephew, who is more of a beginner than me, really only had three or so routes he could do, but still said it's the most fun he's had in awhile.

This gym boasts (2) moonboards, both compound dynamic and technical static routes regularly updated, multiple hangboards with all the necessary accoutrements for climbing progression, upstairs space for stretching, bouldering classes for the new and advanced, with a gym owner and staff involved in the climbing community which by the way are really nice people (if you're the type to talk during climbing).

You will become a better climber if your goal is to advance in grades regardless of the gym you attend. However, attending here will get you there faster. It really is the perfect climbing gym barring location for people.

BUT LET'S ALSO ADDRESS LOCATION WHILE WE'RE AT IT. YOU HAVE A BREWERY AND HELLA GOOD TERRIYAKI ON THE SAME LOT. THIS PLACE LITERALLY DROPPED FROM CLIMBING HEAVEN. ALL CAPS REVIEW IS DESERVED.

Good gym, good routes and good location for me. I heard from others that it is a gym that focuses on serious climbers. With that in mind, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of attention to safety. I started climbing a problem and a gym climbing instructor apparently sent one of his students to climb right underneath me. I was on the white problem in the photo and my recollection was that I started my problem with no one else working on problems near me. Then, as I was going for the finish, I saw a guy on the red problem, which was directly below me. I told the front desk staff who was apologetic. I don’t think anyone who is so reckless should be teaching a climbing class. Climbing is dangerous already and ignoring the most basic safety rules while teaching a class in my mind is really not acceptable. I hope the gym could make sure the staff takes safety precaution seriously as people can be injured. Allowing street shoes also appears to be somewhat unsafe for climbers but that is less of an issue comparing to deliberately putting a climbing student in danger.

Having cycled through the majority of the climbing gyms in the Seattle area this one is only a 5-minute drive from my house which is great. No traffic or anything, although it's definitely the smallest out of all of the gyms. I have been to the route setting is excellent. There's always a sense of progression between the different difficulties instead of doing an easy V3 compared to the previous V2 etc. Etc. That I've seen at some other gyms.

Because of the small size you get to interact with the staff much more closely. I've spoken with Andrew a couple of times and he has given me some great pointers on tackling a problem that I was working on for the past 3 days.

If you have a chance to stop by, I highly suggest you do.

AMAZING Climbing gym. Great route setup for small space. But it is space filled with energy, positivity and go-get-your-next! I have been to other big climbing gyms and still hold punch cards to many of them but by far Uplift is my favorite. I also did climbing technique series at other places and at Uplift. The Boulder Better series was phenomenal. Corey is a great instructor, customizes the training by a lot. I would highly recommend their Boulder Better if you are new at climbing. Jon and Andrew are great too. They greet you with pleasure and help you with all questions. All the staff is friendly, punctual and professional. Awesome bouldering gym! The setting is some of the best I’ve found in the city, and we checked out quite a few gyms before we decided on uplift. I also really like how they clearly have a vert wall, 30 degree wall, 45 degree wall etc. Great lifting area too with everything you could need to also get in your strength training (two squat racks). Super friendly staff to top it off. They also have two systems board (moon and tension). Five stars! Just wish they had a Kilter board as training too much on moon and tension tends to irritate my finger tendons.

This is a great place to climb. Honestly it's too expensive though. I would sign up for membership if they had 3 month or 6 month membership deals, monthly is not really worth it...
After a year that's nearly $1,000 at the monthly rate... I only make 25k annually, haha!

Please sweeten your deals! Summit Everett, for instance, offers a 3 person family deal at $125 per month. Good business strats to drop the price over extent of membership & quantity of persons.
