About the Club

Come join us at Driftless CrossFit for a workout! We offer the best facilities, coaching, and programming in the greater La Crosse, Holmen, West Salem, and Onalaska area. We also offer the most open gym hours for you to come crush your workout outside of our normal class schedule. Our classes currently run Monday - Friday at 5am, 6am, noon, 4:45pm, and 5:45pm and Saturdays at 9am! Our services include personal training, nutrition programming, CrossFit, and Athlete Strength and Conditioning.

I spent almost 3 years at the this gym and can't say enough good things about it.

The community and people are great. They are welcoming and helpful to new members and people trying CrossFit for the first time. People are also friendly and welcoming if you go to classes outside of your usual class time.

The facility has a classic CrossFit feel and has plenty of space. Equipment is good and well maintained.

Coaches are great, they take time to get to know each member and are able to give individual feedback and critique. They're not overly critical but also make sure to move around the room during class and coach as needed, doesn't matter if you've been doing CrossFit for years or you're brand new, you won't get lost in the mix.

Programming is geared towards the athletes in the gym and offer scaling options both up and down for all levels of athletes. The strength cycles are well-programmed and allow for variety and gains when followed consistently. Workouts have a good variety of time domains and movements.

This gym is affordable relative to other CrossFit gyms that I have been to and believe you get your values worth.

Facility: 5/5
Nice facility with showers. Reasonable amount of space, but definitely caps out on space for 12+ member class. Not a knock on the facility though.

Equipment: 5/5
Lots of pieces available especially for extra work

Class times: 4/5
Could definitely add a time in to give classes more space (mid morning, another evening class, etc). Issue is management doesn't really want to pay another coach for another hour. Open gym is nice to have 24/7, just don't expect it during class time

Coaching: 2/5
If you actually want to improve on movement, this isn't the place for you. Coaches are afraid to give you cues in fear you won't take them well. They are more worried about being your friend than actually coaching you. They are more worried about filming for social media as opposed to actually coaching you. If you don't want coaching, then by all means, this is the place for you. However, don't expect to actually learn something

Programming: 1/5
Be prepared to do the same redundant things week in and week out. We did the same format (2min on/2min off) every Tuesday for 3 straight weeks. Are you actually doing CrossFit? Not really. It's a strength bias gym with too much going on. Warm-ups never change, and I would even go to say that you don't actually get warm for what you are doing. If you get there early while another class is going on, your space is limited to do extra warm-up

Community: 2/5
If a gym every says they have the best community in the area, they are oblivious to everything going on in their gym. Every gym has cliques, and this gym is no exception. It's the same people going to the same social events, who all hang out outside of the gym. There's an obvious vibe change from morning to afternoon classes, and you can tell there is bias.

People are relatively nice though

Management: 1/5
Don't expect things to change if you have an idea. Kyle (manager) and Jason (owner) are rather narrow minded. Don't expect to see Jason around much (other job, family, investor of other jobs, flipping homes, etc), and Kyle coaches 75% of the classes. If you want a variety of coaches, this isn't the place for you. If you want the same coach and coaching (see above), this is the place for you

This place should really be called Driftless Strength and Conditioning, while removing CrossFit from the name altogether. I wouldn't call this a CrossFit gym. I've dont CrossFit for 13 years, so this is years of experience and affiliates I have been part of/dropped in to.

I joined Driftless about a year and a half ago while attending UWL. I saw a friend post on social media about their CrossFit journey and eventually I decided I had to give it a go. From day one I was welcomed in and even though I was a complete beginner I never felt out of place. The coaches are knowledgeable and even though there’s a whole group of people there they give you the time like you’re the only one to ensure good, consistent technique. I also can’t say enough about the community! Everyone is kind and supportive of each other inside and outside of the gym. It’s truly been a blessing to be a part of and I will miss it like crazy!

My family and I are new to the area and I needed to find a gym. I tried a few other different styles of gyms, but when I visited and met with Kyle and Hannah and did my first workout with Steve coaching, I knew it was the right fit for me! Facing zero motivation, I entered Driftless CrossFit post-Covid, gaining 90lbs in two years. Despite failed previous attempts, a shift happened when I joined in their personal coaching program. It was challenging, but the routine stuck. After 3 weeks, being taught all the basic and better shape, I joined the main CrossFit program – it was game on.

Since August, shed over 20lbs, a significant stride toward reclaiming my healthy self. Sadly, moving away, ending my journey at Driftless CrossFit. Highly recommend others start their journey here, witness the success I found.

Thank you coach Kyle, Driftless CrossFit staffs, and my fellow athletes. It has been wonderful and I will miss you all.

I've been attending the gym for more than 2 years - continuous growth in strength, fitness, and health. The coaches are excellent at meeting you where you are - suggesting modifications so you can feel successful, helping you if something doesn't work and you feel like it's too much, and generally encouraging in whatever work you can do. There is a wide range of ages in those who attend, so you don't feel out of place and strange during class. The members and coaches are welcoming to all!

I’ve been a meme we of this gym for about 1,5 years and it’s the next level of fitness. Besides seen the whole body transformation (fit, better pasture, muscle show) I’m more happy to know what my body is capable to do with an endurance in different groups of exercises - Olympic weightlifting, sport gymnastics, cardio and such.
One of the success secrets is a great supportive community of the gym, each work out feels like a quality time with friends plus getting exercise done. And the coaches are amazing, they are really into each member’s success, I never had a feeling of being on my own. Just in the last couple weeks I learned how to do Hand Stand Push Ups, a movement what I could never imagine I’m capable of doing.
I highly recommend this gym to all of my friends, because I know it worth to at least to try, better to stick around for a while to see all the benefits of a community based work outs.

I am a 51 yr old endurance athlete in trail running and mountain biking who benefits greatly from strength training and dynamic movements. I joined Driftless 2 years ago because my husband kept his motivation to keep going to the gym through Kyle's programming. I was jealous of the fun and challenge he was having with structured classes 3 days a week at MANY class time offerings WITH form supervision. Not to mention all hours gym access. My desire for competition is fulfilled here and the workouts are well explained so I never feel stupid not knowing what to do or how to do it. Workouts can also be adjusted to all abilities. I was even able to get in great SAFE workouts throughout a whole year of knee surgery rehab which even incorporated my prescribed PT movements.

I am from out of town and I dropped into Driftless CrossFit from another gym. I was able to call and get all the information I needed. I purchased a punch card of 5 classes for $50 which is extremely reasonable. All the coaches were very welcoming, they introduced me to the class, everyone in the classes were very friendly and willing to conversate and make me feel at home. If you’re looking for a place to start your crossfit journey Driftless is the perfect place for you. I had absolutely no CrossFit experience before coming to driftless and I was extremely nervous in trying something this intimidating. Not only are the members welcoming and encouraging but you have these superlative coaches truly, the attention to each and every individual they give is amazing. If you’re nervous about not being able to do a certain movement no worries, the coaches will offer you so many different modifications that will help you build up to that skill. Driftless CrossFit is a great place to get (and stay!) in shape.

The coaches for each class are keenly observant of each member’s form and ability level, making sure you are able to work to your potential without going too far and cause an injury. I personally appreciate how they help me to scale the movements to fit my ability level while still being challenging. I also appreciate any corrections to my form in doing a skill, as it is the overall consensus that in order to do a skill well, it needs to be performed correctly. This insures injury prevention and increased ability.

The members are friendly and supportive of each other, encouraging you to ‘give it all you’ve got’ and celebrate all the big and little improvements in your workout. We all take part in cheering on each other; this creates a positive athletic environment! One that encourages you to keep on coming back!
