I've been going to Tosa Yoga Center since 2009. I could go on about how yoga has changed my life for the better in so many ways, but this is about Melanie and her team. It's been a joy to watch Tosa Yoga grow.
Melanie's energy is so positive and welcoming, so of course that's the energy in which she attracts her other instructors and everyone who works at the front desk.
What I like most about the classes I take here, is that I can tell each and every class is well planned. The teachers don't "mail it in" every week by doing routines the can do in their sleep. They also don't take poses for granted. They give constant breathing reminders and tips to make sure you're getting the most out of each pose.
Another thing I like is that while the teaches can challenge you, they never never never pressure you to do anything you don't want to do. They offer advice on how to go deeper with a pose, or skip it altogether for something that's more suited for you.
Namaste Tosa Yoga Center. I'm so spoiled and fortunate to have you so close to home.

I have been going to Tosa Yoga for a little over 2 years now and wish I would have started sooner. Melanie has created such a welcoming studio, with multiple classes and incredible instructors available every day. I love that I can take a 9 am class one day and a 5 pm class later that week. One class may be strong flow and another restorative. Whatever I am in the mood for, I can find at Tosa Yoga. If you have not taken a class here yet, you are missing out. Book one today!

Tosa Yoga Center is great destination to apply your practice whether you’re a seasoned veteran or looking to grow your practice. I really appreciate the diversity of approaches and perspectives the different instructors provide to the classes, but the commonality is that all the staff are exceptionally kind and friendly. It feels like a true community, and I couldn’t recommend it any more highly.

I started going to Tosa yoga for the prenatal classes with Megan. She was fantastic and knew exactly to accommodate pregnancy friendly yoga poses. I continued my membership postnatal and and tried various classes. Sara G was an excellent teacher and knew everyone by name each time they came in. Everyone at tosa yoga is friendly and I really enjoy my classes.

When we first moved to Wauwatosa a decade ago, I was drawn to Melanie’s classes for her kind, encouraging manner (and how she’d effortlessly drop an arm balance while teaching it). During the pandemic, her online classes helped me feel connection in a way I craved during those bizarre times. Now I take Stephanie’s classes regularly, and I love her lighthearted spirit, story classes, and mindfulness. Each teacher has their own twist, but each teacher welcomes diversity, allows space for relaxation or exertion, and teaches me something new. Friendly community, fantastic teachers. Grateful for this place!

I recently returned to a yoga practice after a long absence and chose Tosa Yoga to get me moving again. After attending classes for two months with several different teachers, I found that there is a consistency with each of them which has enabled me to take a particular level of class whenever it's convenient for me. Melanie and her staff are very professional - from greeting each participant as they enter the studio to providing help with instruction and determining the best package of classes to purchase. Also, Melanie regularly seeks feedback from her students on additional types of instruction, poses or themes to incorporate into classes. She does a wonderful job of keeping things fresh and interesting for her students. And, obviously the studio is spotlessly clean and neat. I appreciate everything Tosa Yoga offers to make my experience a great one.

I have been going to Tosa Yoga for a little over a year now and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Melanie and her staff are most welcoming and knowledgable. For someone like me who is new to the practice, this has been and continues to be a rewarding experience. No matter what your level of experience with yoga, you will find a home here. It's like coming to a neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name except that instead of cocktails and beer you get sun salutations and savasanas.

I have been benefiting from yoga practice for over 25 years, but always in rented spaces, from church sanctuaries to rooms at health clinics. This is my first full fledged yoga studio and I am enjoying the special atmosphere I found there. I love finding gear and tee shirts and mats for sale or to borrow, water and tea and I appreciate the extremely clean facilities. I stick to the easy flow classes on Mondays and Wednesdays—and while I have had excellent instructors over the years, the ones I have met on these mornings are outstanding. The monthly themes succeed in making me aware of specific muscles and joints and thought processes. As for the weekly sessions, I can honestly report that each time I go I learn a new sequence of poses, with at least one I have never done before. I highly recommend Tosa Yoga Center.

I have been looking for a yoga studio that truely welcomes and supports the LGBTQIA+ community for more than 10 years. I have finally found one that does. I had a chat about an incident here with Melanie, halfway expecting my concerns to be brushed off, but they absolutely were not. Things were handled very professionally and I felt heard. Furthermore, the staff here is friendly and welcoming, the classes really are great for a variety of abilities, and I can assure anyone looking, this studio will support and advocate for you if you're part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I've been to several studios in the Milwaukee area. My immediate and continuing experience here over the last year has been one of comfort and peace. Speaking on my experience as a male, yoga classes can be tough to not feel like I stand out, to a degree. Melanie's demeanor is welcoming, as is the entire class, and she has a clear comfort about her. She conducts class with a natural, sometimes funny energy that will draw you in and keep you close. Five stars for the best studio in MKE.

After a long search for a Yoga community in the Milwaukee area, I was delighted to find Tosa Yoga. This studio and community truly feel like a "yoga home." The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and beautiful and comes without any of the pretenses that sometimes befall yoga studios. I always feel welcome! The studio staff are some of the kindest; each of whom provide well-thought-out practices that achieve the mission of helping class participants find the restoration they are seeking. The studio owner has curated a program that is inclusive, accessible, and mindful of all abilities so that everyone can find their place on the mat.

I really love going to Tosa yoga because it is so welcoming and I love how the classes are structured. Melanie provides options for advanced and beginners classes but even within those classes will instruct you on modifications. Whenever Melanie is teaching, she’s consistently giving pointers and tips on learning about the poses and what you need to be doing to be successful, but she also keeps it light and fun! I smile in every class. I also love the focus of the class as it builds to a peak pose and that lasts for a month so you can learn and grow! She also plays great music!!!

There is nothing more I could expect from this or any yoga studio. Melanie, the owner, takes so much pride in her business and truly wants anyone who comes there to feel welcome. I have experienced her attention and pride personally many times myself and have witnessed it in her interactions with her staff and fellow yogi customers.
I have actually been a part of Tosa Yoga since 2015 but lost my way during and after the pandemic. I returned about a year ago and started coming back slowly 1x per week on Sundays with Colleen, who is part of the reason I now come 2-3x per week. Not only did her practices challenge and teach me, her welcoming and open personality made me feel safe and wanting more.
The practices and workshops, as well as the teachers who teach yoga here, are each special in their own way. If you’re looking to try yoga in the greater Milwaukee area, this is the place to go.

Tosa Yoga Center is a warm, welcoming, inviting space. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. There is no pressure or expectation to achieve peak (or any particular) poses; instead, participants are encouraged to be mindfully aware of their bodies and work towards understanding the varying forms and accompanying movement (thereby achieving growth in their personal practice). Ongoing education or enrichment of yoga practices are provided via workshops both from staff and outside providers (musicians, PT, etc.). The owner also works to incorporate opportunities for other small businesses and create an inclusive and diverse environment.

After becoming disabled, I never thought yoga classes would work for me again. I have to modify every pose and I'm used to perfection-focused teachers. Tosa Yoga is truly a place for everyone to access yoga - all body types, abilities, and limits are welcomed with grace. I attended 3-5 classes a week for months and have, every time, felt completely comfortable and safe doing yoga that fits me. Every teacher offers alternate poses and regular reminders to do what feels right. I'm so grateful for regaining access to my practice through Tosa Yoga's incredible community.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. Tosa Yoga Center and its staff has made me (a newbie) feel very welcome, supportive and heard. I admit I was nervous before my first lesson (Gentle Yoga) with Megan and instantly felt comfortable, not only with Megan, but with the other students as well. The location itself (inside and out- the mural!) is pretty much what you would in a yoga studio, inside the studio space is immaculate and when entering, you of course feel very welcome. If you are thinking of starting yoga and were like me, nervous and/or hesitant, Tosa Yoga Center is the way to go. I couldn’t have asked for a better beginning for my Yoga journey. Additionally, her team of teachers and staff is second to none. Hey you, yogi. Imagine you blow into town and life's feeling a little weird. You have some things to attend to that aren't ideal, but some friends in the area to visit. You have extra time and find some random yoga studio. Wauwatosa? Yeah ok probably low expectations for a yoga studio, but maybe i've lived in NY state too long.
Sign up, drop in expecting just another class with another suburbanite... but they say hi and get you a Jade yoga mat and are... nice? thoughtful? This can't be happening....
Class starts and the cues are good, the owner/teacher attentive and thoughtful (even after 20 years of teaching and practice, you come to find out), her voice practiced and rhythmic, soothing but energized creating a safe space to drop into.
The class ends and it provided good things. Generate heat, awareness, a good flow; you feel squozed out and good, and people talk afterward instead of all hustling out the door in a flurry. And THEY seem engaging too. Is Tosa Yoga actually putting good out into the world?? It's probably illegal in 15 states, but they're doing it anyway!
This, my fellow yogis, is Tosa Yoga. I drove an hour again a few days later just to take a second class and see if it was a fluke. Narrator: it wasn't.
Sure, I'm *really* jaded from subpar teaching in Upstate NY, but I've also learned from some truly amazing teachers elsewhere. You at least owe it to yourself to take a few classes at Tosa and see how it feels, and if you're experienced she can offer plenty too. Wouldn't mind seeing a more advanced or in-depth class (pranayama, workshopping poses, some bandha stuff, etc), but maybe they have them and I missed it in my hurry.
I can't believe I'm saying it, cuz I think it's their moniker there, but they're doing their best to make it "Your yoga home" to help you move forward on your path.
Maybe you'll feel the same too.

Tosa Yoga is a peaceful place to learn the ancient practice, with fabulous teachers and a tranquil ambience, and online options available. The teachers want the best for the students and couldn't be kinder, and there's challenges and comfort levels for any experience. Couldn't recommend Tosa Yoga more

Tosa Yoga Center offers a variety of classes for all levels in a comfortable setting...I have now taken numerous classes via Zoom and in person and can say that I have enjoyed every class and instructor. Every instructor has been thoughtful in offering variations to motions as well as encouragement. I can say I'm now hooked!
