About the Club

Located in Hudson, Wisconsin just minutes from Minneapolis-St. Paul, Troy Burne is a Tom Lehman Championship 18 hole design rated as a Top 100 Public Golf Course by Golf Digest.
The Aisling, an equally impressive 10,000 square feet event center on property was opened in 2023 and offers the perfect setting to host your special occasion.

Carefully sculpted out of 420 acres of rolling St. Croix Valley hills, Troy Burne features over 120 bunkers protecting generous bent grass fairways and stadium greens. Burne, the Scottish term for creek, is fitting as water comes into play on eight holes. Amber prairie grasses cover the hillsides along many holes, providing vivid contrast to the emerald fairways & roughs.

Usually enjoy playing here a lot. Today is one of my worst golf experiences in the last 5 years. Drive an hour to spend $150 bucks. Tee off 20 minutes late. Starter refuses to move the group along backing it up, instead tells us stories, and asks if he can mark our golf balls. Then tells the group behind us to tee off when we’re still in range and two people hit into us on the first hole. Made it through 5 holes in 1:25. Brutal and not what you should get at Troy Burne.

From the front desk(Brady), the starter (Dave), our playing partners (Lance/Carrie), cart girl(sorry didn’t get your name) to the course itself. Everything was top notch. First time playing but definitely will be back! Great job Troy Burne you really hit the mark on a great golf experience.

Challengeing & Beautiful layout with fun & interesting design. HOWEVER…. The rough is cut way too HIGH. This is not the US Open! ie. I Hit (2) great shots on 18 & was just barely off back of green by 3 ft, (15ft from hole) and I was buried in the rough. Not cool. And… when choosing PIN locations - vary it. With some on FLATTER easier locations & some in trickier spots.
But NOT ALL holes in tough spots! Today, the holes were ALL on these CLIFF like spots. Just not fun then. But…. Nice crew. Thank you for all your help.

Whole course was in absolutely amazing shape. Cart died on 16, they were out there right away to replace it. Didn't even slow up the round at all. In fact, I birdied hole 16, the 617 yard par 5, while changing out the cart.
Always a pleasure to play.

I had a wonderful time at this club today and the head pro was extremely helpful. I forgot my hat at home and was going to purchase one. He said he had some in his office he could give me. I thought Dave went above and beyond in this matter. The staff was excellent and everyone treated us so well.

1st time golfing this course. Heard so much about how nice and gorgeous this course was. My expectations were quite high from everyone talking about Troy Burne. It easily met and exceeded what I was hoping for. Absolutely perfect conditions. Even the rough was excellent. Would recommend playing from the perfect fairways. The greens were an absolute joy to put on. Finally the staff had such great attitudes that it made the day a β€œ10”!!!!!

The course was well-cared for. It was fairly challenging with sand bunkers and a few fairways bordered by a lake.

The customer service was great with food service on the course.

I also like the country feel. Most of the course feels like a suburban golf course. But in some places you can see rustic farm houses and get the feeling of being in Wisconsin's dairy country.

The course is extremely nice and the FOOD AT THE RESTAURANT WAS EXCELLENT. Had the best wild rice soup of my life. The chef even came out and asked us how it was! ... which IMO shows just how much he cares.
I never write reviews but I had to write one for here. Check it out!

Great track of a course well groomed. Amazing clubhouse and great proshop. Electric gps carts with super cushiony seats. Outdoor bar snack area. The course had tons of challenges all over the place....lots of sand traps on many holes. The scenery was spectacular.....holes 11 through about 14 with running water and scenery. The greens rolled fast, fairways and rough cut well, sand traps had the right grainy sand you could dig through (not sandbox sand), and fescue put in places to hold shots. Multiple tee boxes can deepen the track to challenge so many different types of players. The rates to play this course while pricey are paying for the whole package.....you either want the whole ordeal or you dont.

My favorite course I’ve ever played- and I’ve played pretty much every nice public track in Minnesota. Front and back 9 are very different, but equally fun. Conditions are perfect, and the greens roll fast and pure. It is a heavily bunkered course, especially on the front, so be prepared to be in many fairway bunkers if you’re spraying your driver.

The staff is phenomenal and accommodating. I had accidentally booked the wrong day, and despite their full tee sheet they found a way to get my foursome on.

This course is worth every penny.

EDIT: Played again yesterday and again was blown away with how great this course is! Perfect blend of fun, challenging, and beauty. Tom Lehmann did fantastic work!

Played an event here and it’s a fantastic layout. There is truly no place I’ve been like it. Tough course that requires control of your ball. Plan every shot or the penalties are severe, it’s not a tee it up and bomb it course. Greens have a ton of slope and are pretty smooth, they would be my only complaint, they were a bit bumpy in my opinion, and slower than the practice greens. Practice facility is above average but balls are pricey for what you get. Very nice restrooms. No drinking water on the course.

Troy Burne hosted my group of 20 golfers for 36 holes on Thursday 5/23/2024. To start, Brady in the pro-shop was hustling around to get everything ready for us as we arrived fairly early for our tee times. He told us due to rain the night before we would not be able to use the range prior to our first tee time, but that was no big deal and we understand. The course was in great shape and everyone enjoyed themselves. Lunch between rounds was delicious and Brady helped the kitchen staff get food out timely allowing us plenty of time before tee time number 2.

the golf course is a semi-premium price point that certainly delivers. It is difficult, our handicaps ranged from 4-28 but everyone got around the course and had a good time. There were some players who thought the rough was too long but I imagine that is not standard and due to the rain the night before (or if it is standard is not great for pace of play).

Thanks Brady and team for a great start to our trip!

Incredible course. Fairways and tee boxes are always in perfect condition, green complexes are large and pure with plenty of undulation. I was REALLY looking forward to going to this course! Played it for the first time today and was met with a huge let down.

The course is beautiful, but the pace of play is terrible. We were already 45 minutes behind pace at the turn and the Ranger squeezed another group out in front of us and told us not to worry about it.

I expect this at your local muni course, but not here for the price you pay.

I enjoy Troy Burne. It’s beautiful and holes 11-15 is like playing in northern Minnesota. I try to play there once a year. This year I was disappointed with the lack of sand in the bunkers and you can see in the picture fabric is visible. Note to the management, you are a premium course and you charge a premium - fix the bunkers.

As good as this course is, it is no longer worth it at the 130 price point (with a cart). The course had multiple brown spots throughout, didn't have enough carts, the cart we did get started running out of juice in the middle of the round. Just a lot of little things that a course at that price point shouldn't have. Just more disappointed than anything.

In June of 2022, we had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception at Troy Burne and would highly recommend it as your wedding venue! The grounds and views are absolutely stunning. There was no need for a photo booth or backdrop because all guests had to do was step anywhere outside for a gorgeous background. We got a ton of compliments on how tasty the food was and the portion sizes. More importantly… the bar area is big and service for drinks was quick. In all honesty, I was nervous when our wedding coordinator changed hands a couple months before our wedding. However, the transition was seamless. The coordinators had good communication, and Ali and Lauren, who took over the position, were quick to set up meetings to ensure they understood and could execute our wedding vision. They responded to emails timely, met numerous times both in-person and virtually with us, and quickly figured out the answers to alllll of our questions. They also took us out on the course a few weeks prior to our wedding to figure out where we would want to take pictures. Ali and Lauren not only helped us plan but were both there day of, making sure our day went off without a hitch, from start to finish. I am so, so grateful for both of them. They are energetic, innovative, and just plain fun. Because of their presence, I was able to truly enjoy our day and knew everything was taken care of. Last, but certainly not least, we got a couple **free** passes to golf. I mean really, what more could you ask for?

Amazing course as always but the last time I played with my father and a good friend, my father was side swiped/ t bones coming around a blind corner after hole #2. He was just fine and reassured the cart girl that everything was ok. 2 holes later the course ranger came out and harassed us while we were putting. He kept asking our story time after time when there was no story other than that she hit him pretty hard. Turns out she broke the front axel on the cart and blamed it on my dad. They made us stop in the club house at the turn and interrogated us for about 15 minutes and then let us back out to play. They were not forgiving at all for having us wait and never once got an apology from the cart girl afterwards.

Troy Burne offers a country club experience to the general public with great staff and excellent golf. Driving range is awkwardly situated across the road but nice with a lot of targets. Putting green is huge with all cut holes (not a norm at some golf courses). I really wish they had a separate sand/chipping practice area (e.g. loggers trail or oak marsh) but new ownership may listen and add.

The course is exactly what you want. Challenging but fair with two distinct 9 holes. Front nine is wide fairways with fescue and traps that force you to think. Back nine is water with some trees and the same traps. Maybe a little tighter but it might just be the water that makes it more visually challenging. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Walking without a pushcart would be tough. It’s spaced out. With a pushcart it’s doable on a nice day but there’s not a lot of shade as it trends links golf. I’d splurge for a cart and those carts are about the best I’ve ever rented here in the Midwest.

Overall go. You won’t be disappointed even when you shoot over 90.

last week, I played Troy Burn, I play there about 3 to 4 times a year. I commented to the Pro that the last 4 times I have played there, they start us out on hole 10 instead of 1. I stated that it would be nice once in a while if we could start from the hole the course was designed to start from and he proceeded to tell me this course wasn't designed like that, and Pro's start courses from every hole all the time. Well 95% of the golfers at Troy are not pros, for two, he was a rude. Finally, the course WAS designed to start from hole 1 and for being a pro making that comment pretty much confirms lack of knowledge. Ask Tom Lehman and I guarantee you he would say people should start off of 1. The back nine is harder and it allows you to set up for it by playing the front. Lehman created an experience for his golfers, if he wanted people to start out on 10 he would have done that. I didn't appreciate the way this Pro responded and on top of that, I think he should do a little research, because asking a pro acquaintance of mine, according to him it is indeed a fact.

Always a course I wanted to play for a long time, sadly completely dried out due to the watering ban in the area I believe. Also sad but customer service was the reason I won’t be coming back anytime soon. They were completely out of carts due to a wedding. I would say plan ahead since it was a Saturday (busiest day of the week), staff told me this happens all the time too. We didn't get our carts until 5 minutes before our tee time, no starter to direct us to the first tee or range, only a couple of us got tokens for a "warm up" bucket even though there were 6 of us, then harped on our group to get the tee box like it was our fault for the delay for slow play on the course and shortage of carts. Didn't personally see the head pro doing any directing that day myself but that doesn't mean he wasn't there. For the cost ($120 with cart) I’ve played courses for a 1/3rd that cost that had better service and left feeling that much better about the round. I’m a positive person and being a former pro in the golf industry it’s tough to write such a bad review. At least I played well that day and weather was ideal.

Troy Burne was one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding! The entire staff was beyond great and our coordinator, Amber was phenomenal! Each time my husband and I were there to go over details and such, we were treated incredibly well by every single staff member. Amber was very responsive, organized and just the sweetest person in general! The decorations that they provided for us were wonderful but hardly even needed because the scenery of the golf course out the large windows was so beautiful!! The food was delicious!!! We got so many compliments from our wedding guests! They were even so accommodating to give my husband his own special meal (the guests all had taco bar while he had a bacon cheeseburger because it's his favorite)! We also received two free golf passes which was a perfect opportunity for my husband to have a casual bachelor party! Just a top notch, first class golf facility. Head Pro Dave Tentis is the ultimate class professional. His whole staff is friendly and helpful. Course was in immaculate condition with their typical smooth fast greens.

Stunning course from front to back. The bunkers are very sloped and always in play. I loved the elevation changes and the difference from the front9 to the back9. Every part from fairway, to greens, to rough, to long grass was amazingly well kept. My hats off to Troy Burne and I will absolutley be back.

Top 5 track. Friendly staff. Course is difficult, esp the front 9. They have new GPS carts with large screen displays.

This is easily the best course in the Twin Cities area. I have played, worked at, and experienced most of the courses in this area. The layout is amazing. The staff are always super laid back and friendly. And the instruction from the golf pros here are a cut above. Just do yourself a favor and make the trek out here and play this course. I know I will be for as long as I live in the area.

This summer I had the honor of officiating for two large weddings at Troy Burne Golf Club. The natural beauty of this venue, and the professional, thoughtful attentiveness of the staff, make it one of the top locations I recommend to couples in western Wisconsin. I also recommend it to couples in the metropolitan Twin Cities area because it is only a 30 minute drive from St Paul into lovely countryside. As you consider venues for your wedding, please take a moment to look at the possibilities here. Carolyn Germaine, Grand Avenue Wedding Officiants, 889 Grand Avenue, St Paul MN

I recently photographed a wedding at this DREAM venue ! So many photo spots and such a wonderful staff. The ceremony site is adorable and in just the right direction to the sun, the beautiful greenery and tall trees are amazing, and what about that hidden tunnel with a stream (full of baby turtles btw!) . Not only you won't be disappointed to get married here, but you will have an absolute wonderful experience :D

The course is amazing. The staff at our friends wedding was amazing. The carts work and are clean, the course makes for an amazing backdrop for wedding photos. The view from the club house is 5 stars. Great place to golf and have a wedding.

PROS -
Challenging course.
Well maintained.
Great slope to greens.
Good mix/variety of holes.
Electric carts.
Earlier twilight than most courses.

CONS -
Lots of bunkers!
They do not provide complimentary water on the course.
Yardage markers are few and far between (bring you range finders!).
For $118 a round you'd expect GPS in the carts.

OVERALL -
Great course if you're hitting their twilight at $80, but if you're paying full price, maybe try another course that gives you more for what you pay for.

Amazing overall experience. Superb quality course, that brings challenge to all players. Very nice driving range and giant practice putting green. Tom Lehman designed course; our group often muttered that we got β€œLehman’ed” on the greens haha. Definitely will be making the trip from Minneapolis to Hudson, WI again soon.

I can't believe how simply stellar this course is. One thing that stands out about this course is the variety. The front nine is an 'American Links' design whereas the back nine weaves through the wooded suburbs of the Troy Burne village. The course conditions are very good for the money. Practice facilities are pretty lackluster with a lack of any special practice amenities (green-side bunker, fairway bunker), but the medium-sized range and practice green do just fine. Pro shop is great, staff are very nice, and food is great. This is a great boys-day kind of place and I highly recommend it.

Great course. Unfortunately, it is has become a "destination" course. So people come and plan to spend their day there and that leads to slow rounds. I have had a couple of 5 hour plus rounds. No fun. Especially when you are behind bad golfers whose priorities are: talking, drinking, smoking and then golf. Best times are early in the morning or late afternoon.

Had our wedding here in September of 2017 and all I can say is WOW. The wedding coordinator Amber was absolutely incredible. I felt like she was always prepared for our meetings, was extremely helpful in customizing our experience, and felt like she truly cared about our big day. The food was amazing, the rooms looked fantastic and most importantly our guests thoroughly enjoyed their time. Do not hesitate to have your wedding here. They were also VERY reasonable on price, not the most expensive, and not the cheapest, but I felt like they earned every dollar. 10/10, everything was perfect.

Fourth of July Fabulous. In part because I had five birdies on the round, unfortunately with two double bogies and a quad. Managed an 84, which is a low round for me. But to the point. I've played Troy Burn over the past fifteen years and found the course to be in pristine condition. Greens were rolled and cut, which helped with the birds. Want to have some fun, play it.
