Good Facility - Bad Concessions. Athletes cant even bring in their own water or snacks. On day 2 of events they were sold out of most all concession items - yet do not allow you to bring in outside food or drink. They need to plan for supplies and have more than one concession stand open for thousands of people they are hosting, charging for admission, and charging $10 to park a half mile away in a field that you have to drive over a curb to get into. We travel a lot for sports events, this wasnt good. Athletes have to come with a debit card in order to compete, and someone has to stand in line a half hour at a time for water. π€―

Long post but important!! We were recently allowed to use the meeting room at the Crossplex for a Birmingham Police Officerβs repast. The room is absolutely beautiful! The kitchen area was clean, the carpet was nice and there were plenty of comfortable chairs and tables. All of the workers were very friendly and accommodating. We were provided a list of caterers that we were not familiar with to choose from and through a friend we was able to make contact with βKimβ from Yellow Bicycle Catering It was a holiday weekend and last minute booking so there wasnβt much time to shop around. All went well until the day of the event when her staff set up the chafing dishes that were tarnished and had fingerprints all over them. They literally looked filthy. The serving utensils and each and every beverage container should have been thrown out years ago. They were scratched up and dingy. One lid didnβt fit properly and was just placed on top of the container. The lid on one water pitcher was so dirty that I refused to allow them to use it. In the community where I am from the consensus is if it looks dirty on the outside we probably wouldnβt eat what is on inside. So I hid the lids to every chafing dish on the floor under the table before the family arrived. The ONLY saving grace is that people seemed to enjoy the good. But for the price that is charged by the caterers ALL THINGS should be presentable.

Very nice space. Lots of seating in bleachers. We had lots of room to move around during the day. The bathrooms had room for improvement. Some stalls were dirty. Some stalls needed toilet paper. The papertowels needed replenishment. The concession stand also could have had more options for such a large 2 day event. The outside staff working the parking was great as well. It's close to many fast food restaurants.

This facility sits in te little town of Ensley. It comes with a wide open parking lot with hundreds of parking places. Once you're in the facility everything is completely updated and handicap accessible. This is the same facility they used in the world Games. We went there with our indoor track team for a county meet and there was able seating, and the restroom was extremely clean. They also have a little snack stand with moderately priced Stadium food.

Dated venue. They wonβt even let you bring in a cup of coffee. Website will say $5 cash for parking and then make you pay $10 with a card. They block all the hallways so you canβt get to bathrooms or the bleachers from any spot than the front.

Facility is top-notch - nothing like it aroundβ¦and they know it. Charge $10 for parking and have parking attendants roaming the surrounding lots telling people off if they try to park there. Charge admission for everyone, even young kids. Concessions are outrageously priced ($5 sodas for example). Wonβt allow outside food or beverages, even by the athletes competing. My daughterβs jr high track team was told they couldnβt bring their Gatorade bottles into the facility when they arrived with the team - seriously?!? So they expect the athletes who are there all day to spend $$$ on junk food and drinks from the concession stand. And they only accept credit cardβ¦so I have to give my 13 year old daughter my credit card now when she goes to a track meet. I can see teams electing not to compete there in the future as the costs get out of control. Too bad the money-grabbing attitude has ruined what could be an amazing experience for athletes and guests.

My platonic friend from Auburn University met through the Auburn University student gospel chour director became a coach and often brought her students here for competitions sometimes staying at my place much less expensive if only personal not parental duties. I had to drive to Auburn University campus in Montgomery where she attended to go to doctor for new state of Alabama job I thought very weird 100 miles away with urine on ice in huge cooler demanded collected over weekend. Then rigorous testing and heart monitors and pregnancy tests they charged me for but I called to have charges removed from me personally and back to the state of Alabama insurance board because they decided to do more than planned in my testing. I was supposed to have an exit group of tests based on all the chemicals we work with but that never happened when a hearing was scheduled after returning from California vacation staying with other platonic friends and shopping. It turned out a disaster. You have to sign a $1 million dollar insurance note if traveling in your own personal vehicle on job trips but that became my problem not theirs too. And car insurance is mandatory. When I got arrested in 2015 outside the job attempting to handle business they towed my car and demanded insurance proof. At my hearing forced to drive my own vehicle I reminded them and ADEM personnel but it went ignored and deleted so long they claimed all attorneys for my paid services from them had also retired including who had granted me absence from previous job 7 years earlier. I felt like the Bible study the man asks for 1 thing but gets something else calling him something else then told had to go 7 more years to get something and ends alone no better than before hopefully at least more than miserable and no bonded word.

We came here for our sectionals wrestling event. Some of the staff was really nice and also helpful. Some of the staff was rude and obnoxious. There was a male wrestler walking around following our girl wrestlers cornering them in the hall. Trying to shake their hands and hug them. We got the police involved and they reacted promptly. Concession stand food wasn't great. Highly recommend the soft pretzel with cheese tho.

They forbid outside food, but their concession stand doesn't have much in the way of food. Sometimes the drinks are barely stocked. For a meet I might have to be there from 7am-5 or 6pm, and I have to take my kids outside to eat any real food.
Maybe instead of paying guys to walk around and tell people not to bring in outside food, get actual decent concessions or let food trucks / vendors come.
An example of concessions I have bought: a cold canned biscuit with sausage, soggy fries, or typical stale nachos like at a skating rink or movie.

We are here now and itβs packed at 4:30, nearing dinner time. Out of water, soft drinks are all hot. Nothing to eat but chips and candy. We had to walk about 2 blocks to a McDonalds to find real food. If you are going to have events at lunch or dinner times you need to have adequate supplies. They do not allow outside food or drink.
The facility itself is nice and clean and the stadium seating with chair backs is nice as well. Seem to have plenty of parking and they were helpful to direct us. There were a number of events going on here today.

Very nice facility. But staff is very rude. Concessions stands are slow and constantly running out of things when I have been. Lobby area poorly laid out as there is no where for the concessions stands long lines to go but block the entrance to the arena. While menu boards appear to be available they instead print their menu on a piece of paper that you can not see till you get to the windows, slowing down the process even more. While I am glad this kind of facility is available locally for students to compete at. I see vast room for improvement.

Nice place- crazy to charge $20.00 to watch your kid for 40 seconds total. Payments accepted are cash app and zelle- which is very weird- who uses those payments? You can bring cash, but, who carries cash?
Everyone was friendly, not located in the best area of town- so I certainly would not stay overnight if my kids event was early.
Also crazy the athletes can't bring their own water.

Facility is 5 out of 5. Very nice and clean and comfortable. The reason for the 2 stars is the WAY WAY WAY overpriced food. Worse than a movie theater. $5 for a water. $7.50 for this super small slice of what looks like microwave pizza. I mean, I donβt complain about much, but legit, this is way over the top. This review is solely about the concessions. I have worked concessions for over 15 years and this was the worst popcorn I have ever eaten even my teenage daughter wouldn't eat it. The fact that I paid $8 for a half filled bag didn't help either and no refund or at least an exchange would have helped.

The only question for the management is why to hire 10 workers for 40-50 cars that came to the competition and charge $10 for parking??? We don't pay enough for competitions? Why can't you do it for free like in other places?

This is a very nice facility. Events are generally well run in spite of the Bham City folks being disinterested. The City hired a very effective administrator from a local sports organization.....but this person left in frustration soon after being hired because the work-ethic of City employees was nonexistent. Rely on event folks to help with whatever.
IF YOU GO- Do not expect to be able to leave the property. The neighborhood is 2024 Gaza. Bring a cooler, eat on the way going or coming...do what you have to do. Even the McDonalds nearby has locked bathrooms. Publix left long ago.
If you vote Dimocrat, or have EVER felt the Bern-however- enjoy the area! Go to Boston Fish Supreme on 3rd Ave for takeout! Shop at Rainbow nearby. Go ask for Dim Sum at the Golden Dragon, walk over to Applebees after your competition.
Just stand on the corner of Bessemer Road and feel proud! Wave at folks!!

It's a nice facility. While there are nice people there, you're likely to run into a very rude worker who will demand the letter of the law. They will not allow a bottle of water in an outside pocket of an athlete's backpack. You are not allowed to finish an energy drink entering the facility. You must move away from the building if you don't throw it away outside immediately. Only some of the gate people will let you sit in the spectator chairs for the middle row of courts. We've been all over the south east. This place is the worst by far.

Parking lot was full, because they had 3 different events going at the same time, we had to walk from the library down the street, across the parking lot in the rain. Only good thing about that we didn't have to pay the ridiculous parking fee and then have to pay to get in. It was 11:00am right at lunch time, but they had already ran out of chicken tenders and fries. The chicken sandwich and the burger were not good at all. But what can you expect from Alabama...Just kidding. :) It is a nice facility and they do keep the bathrooms clean, and most of the staff were nice.

The most unorganized venue ever! This is our second year here and we are perplexed how pathetic every single thing is around here. They charge you for every single thing, such as an athlete fee, every single spectator fee, parking fee, and all they have to offer inside is a runway for athletes. The food is junk only, while no outside food or beverage is allowed, the lines to get to this junk are at least an hour long, the races are very unorganized and no way of knowing when your athlete is going to run. They claim itβs Junior, while they have massive heats that are high schooler age and all the way to athletes in their 80s. We came here at 9 am just to be fed the worst junk one can buy for ridiculously overpriced tag price (mind you itβs athlete event that are supposed to be fed one of the best nutrition there is) to participate in the race of our middle schooler around 7 pm. The worst venue without a doubt. Will not be returning to this God forsaken hell. The only good thing was putting up an NFL GAME while patiently waiting for a couple of races for the past 9 hours.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! There is not enough parking for more than one event!!!! We had a cheer competition this morning had to be here at 8am performance time 9:20. Waited 30 minutes trying to get in to park. Inconsistent rules. Rude staff. Lack of ATHLETE centered refreshment options. Someone thinks a hot dog is a good option to feed someone about to run 2 miles! Let's give a swimmer nachos to barf in the pool requiring it be shut down. To quote an athlete "walking by the consession smells like pure grease. I know i'd vomit."
Athletes can't bring a cooler in but we won't search your zipped bags where you can carry dangerous contraband.
The prices! The track officials are paid separate from the facility. The crossplex (to my knowledge) only pays the guards and the kitchen staff.
That does not warrant a $4 soda on top of the $10 gate fee plus $10 to park.
Cleanliness ... 10 years ago it was great. Now ... several restroom stalls etc are broken or smell horrendous.

During recent track and field events. The complex has elected to not accept cash payments for the food court . Many of athletes participating are from title 1 schools and do not have the opportunity to have a debit card. Some can barely afford to bring cash for one meal. Since the facility does not allow food to be brought in that one meal is all they get. Requiring debit card means some go hungry the whole. Shame on you.

If there is ever any competition to this place, it will be closed in a month. The service here should be an example of how not to do any service organization. They have 10 times the employees they need. They charge 20 bucks for parking but the first two rows are still reserved for more employees. The bathrooms are never clean and often out of order. The concessions are terrible. They have employees that sit at the entry ways just to make sure you use the correct side of the ramp. And if your kid has an event here, there are no employees to assist with anything! Not moving the mats, not setting the hurdles, not raking the sand, not measuring the shot put. Basically they do nothing.
The facility is nice, but in a terrible part of town. It's begging for anyone to compete with it.

I have a youth swimmer and go often to swim meets. Staff is consistently rude, food is average junk with few healthy options. Seats are standard hard bleachers. You can bring a blanket and spread out all over the floor but donβt think about bringing a chair, stand alone, of any size as you will be turned away. You can bring bleacher chairs of any size. Food and drinks, that are visible, Will have to be disposed at the door or you will be searched trying to get back in. The facility is starting to show its age and needs updates.

Venue is nice except for bathrooms that need updating. They donβt allow outside food, and the only choices are fried, greasy, fatty food. This needs to be updated as you have athletes competing at your venue. This inhibits performance! Iβm not saying get rid of all the junk but at least consult a nutritionist and up your game and offer some choices that fuel athlete performance vs. hinder it. The area itself is also less than desirable overall.

Great complex. Cleaning crew and food/drink options couldn't keep up with demand during state cheer competition. $5 to park.
