This gym sucks. (Schilllinger Rd location) Weak and ineffective manager. They don't enforce their own rules which are posted on the walls. When equipment breaks, it stays broken for weeks. They have no parts and no one to fix the broken machines. Staff is more concerned about looking at their phones. General Manager is good at making excuses, he doesn't like being critiqued or being held accountable. They are very good at taking your money and charging your credit card every month - which is really all they're interested in. Buyer beware. I'll post a second review when I experience the cancellation process.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Facility and equipment are well maintained. Plethora of equipment for workouts. Additional amenities include fitness classes, tanning and light therapy, hydro massage and personalized training. I've been big all my life, so, you can understand why I've been nervous to go to a gym. Because this place is right across the street from my job, I decided to try the 3-day pass to see what they are about. The first day, I went in, signed up for my pass, and spoke to someone at the front desk who introduced me to Bruce. Omg, so kind. He answered all the questions I had and I didn't feel judged. I stayed about 15 to 20 minutes and walked on the treadmill. The few people I did meet were so genuinely nice. So, on my second day, I decided to sign up for a membership. People may say the kindness was them wanting you to join, and yes, I did think this, but once the nerves melted away, I knew their kindness was them actually wanting to help and make me feel welcomed. I never felt judged by anyone as I walked around the gym the last two days. People were helpful. I'm so glad to start my fitness journey with this gym. I'll come back in a month or two to update this review.

Great gym! I love the classes but also really love to work out by myself with weights and use machines. The staff and team are pretty friendly, attentive, and answer any questions I may have. This location is pretty clean and I almost always see a staff member cleaning. I use the tanning bed, the red light therapy, and hydromassage. I only wish they had a sauna! The staff that works in childcare are very caring with my kids and I trust the ladies to look after them while I'm working out.

It is convenient, and the people who workout there are nice. However, the staff is not always the friendliest, they rarely greet their patrons and are either hiding in the office or talking with their friends. It makes it difficult when you need something. I have had issues with my membership, and it was difficult to get the correct answer. My son aged out of the childcare so I wanted to downgrade my membership that did not include the childcare, and they wouldn’t let me. The women’s bathroom is always dirty and you will see the same piece of trash in the same spot for 1-2 weeks. All of the above most likely due to terrible or no training.

There is a good variety in the gym and the equipment is kept up which is key. Staff is responsive to questions or concerns. Only issue is people not being cognizant of other people wanting to use certain machines during peak time, they are usually on their phones with social media or socializing which makes it difficult to stay fluid in your workout. This one has been the most unwelcoming gym I’ve been. There’s a guy that be harassing people of color for no reason. Some of the trainers just creepy hover around machines waiting for a use machine instead of asking how long they have in a respectable way.
While I was on the leg press, one of the trainers had the butt few inches to my face. I was disgusted. I’m there to workout. Guess that’s how they get people off the machine that they want to use

READ FIRST: PERSONAL TRAINING
I’ve seen some negative comments on here about personal training, and honestly, a lot of that just sounds like people not wanting to take accountability for what they signed up for. My experience has been nothing but positive.

When I first signed up, Bruce helped walk me through everything. Yeah, he had that salesman energy, but that’s part of the game—and he did it well. I never felt pressured, and he was upfront and informative, so props to him for that.

As for the training itself—it’s been great. I’m really glad I committed. My trainer, Tyler, has been awesome. He’s helped me focus on my breathing and form, which has made a big difference. On top of that, he actually makes working out enjoyable, which I didn’t think was possible. The guy knows his stuff, 100%.

If you’re thinking about personal training, definitely ask for Tyler. You won’t regret it.

I enjoyed going to this particular gym and the 24 hour access however I would NOT recommend signing up for personal training. The way Bruce presents it to you is misleading. Staff will have you to reach out to upper management and regardless of how understanding they may appear under no circumstances will you be able to get out of the contract. If I would have known I was signing up for a PT 12 month agreement I would have never agreed to the terms because financially that's a huge obligation. Upon signing up he stated you can cancel at "anytime" if you're not satisfied. Unfortunately, you can cancel at anytime but you are still financially responsible for the balance.

DO NOT sign up for the personal training program, my husband and I both signed up for it and were told we could cancel at any time. Due to personal reasons we had to cancel, I was under the assumption that it was canceled since March. Today 11/22/24, I got a phone call telling me to update my payment information immediately. I called the gym to figure out as to why I was getting this call just to be told that "cancel anytime" was referring to the regular gym membership, not the training program. I was not able to look over the contract I signed, where unfortunately it states that it cannot be canceled unless the membership owner passes away. Absolutely ridiculous.

Do not do the personal training program at this gym. I tried cancelling my training sessions due to unforeseen circumstance dealing with my family
, instead of them reasoning with me or trying to understand my situation they said that their “term agreements can’t be cancelled” and I would either have to pay 50% off the training cost which was $1,500 or pay the full price. Even though I can no longer train with them, those are the “options”. Firstly, I was not even aware I was under a 12 month contract or “term agreement” because the manager described it as if it was just a 12 month program to teach weight loss, etc. He never once mentioned that it could not be cancelled! I would think that they would describe this “term agreement” in detail letting customers know that this is something that cannot be cancelled or adjusted no matter the circumstances. I would have never agreed to pay almost $300 for 12 months in a “term agreement”.

I attempted to visit this location twice. Both times no one was at the front desk and there were people who had trainer shirts on that walked to the front desk to grab what they needed and DID NOT SAY ONE WORD OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. They may not be a permanent staff member however the kindness of anyone that works at an establishment makes a big difference of where I spend my money. I belonged to this gym from November 2021-May 2022, but when I cancelled my membership, I continued to be billed for 6 months. I finally got them to stop billing me after calling a different Club4 location, and they prompted me to some mysterious website that finally did the trick.

While the poor ethics of this are enough to justify my one-star review, there were other factors that ultimately made me choose Planet Fitness over Club4. For one, the locker rooms were continuously dirty. Pre-workout powder stained the carpets and dried piss covered the floors. In addition, many of the cardio machines were out of order without ever getting fixed. Say what you will about Planet Fitness, but the facilities are always clean, and the cardio machines are newer.

Lastly, the culture of the gym’s members rubbed me the wrong way. I was asked to attend people’s churches on multiple occasions. I also got strong influencer vibes here. I’d see ring lights in the locker room and sometimes people would film their workouts. Guys in the locker room would be posing loudly with their bros for Snapchat. This is that kind of gym.

On the positive side of things, I will say the staff was always very respectful and went out of their way to get to know me, which is why I feel guilty leaving this review. I just didn’t like many aspects of Club4.

The air conditioning in Group fitness room hasn’t worked in MONTHS. Equipment is starting to look pretty ratty with the handles on machines starting to pull off. The flooring is starting to buckle due to water damage by the water fountains and is not only unsightly but, a tripping hazard. Owners don’t seem to have any pride in this club and don’t seem to want to fix these issues as they’ve been brought to the attention of management and staff dozens of times. There is also equipment that hasn’t been installed since the beginning and was part of the reason for initial sign up, namely the Barr in the group fitness room hasn’t been installed and is sitting in a storage room waiting to be installed. Have brought all of these concerns up to management and staff as well as emailed through the app. No one seems to care about these items of concern. Used to be a great gym but, it’s starting to go down hill. Posting here because MAYBE someone with some type of decision making peers will do something about it since normal means of communication seems to fall on deaf ears.

Gym is pretty cool. I love the instructors and trainers. My only complaint is that on multiple occasions the virtual classes don’t work. For whatever reason none of the employees present know how to fix this problem. I have had body pump or other classes scheduled and the video doesn’t work. Today for instance 4 employees present and at least 1 couldn’t care less that the screen didn’t work. At least 2 of them “tried” to fix it. In the end 4 paying customers couldn’t complete a class. Please train ALL employees to work equipment for virtual classes at the studio.

DO NOT go to this gym. My husband and I have been going here for years, pretty much since they opened up this location in Mobile, AL. We had really enjoyed this gym, until recently, my husband was wrongfully accused of being a personal trainer, even after we both explained to them that he was not. They assumed he was a personal trainer and terminated his membership. I spoke with the regional manager David, explaining that there had been a misunderstanding. He said he spoke with his superior and set up a phone meeting for the following day which he did not follow through with. We even called the gym at the time of our set meeting and were told he was in a meeting and would call us back afterwards. He never called us or followed up with an explanation. The management here is very unprofessional and the whole situation was managed in the worst way possible. I hope that this does not happen to anyone else.

I have been charged multiple times since canceling my membership, which was not a simple process. When I called the gym they informed me I had to call another number. When I called the number provided from the gym they stated I needed to call they gym. Finally the gym said they would have to get their manager to contact me. They never contacted me. I also asked the gym to remove my credit card from their system to prevent further charges and they stated they could not do that. I am not the only one this has happened to. It appears to be a common theme.

Past 2 months I’ve been charged an additional $22 for my payment method “being declined,” but there’s never been a low balance in my bank account. My account shows no attempted charges, except when they charged me a late fee. Never had a declined charge from anyone else.
Nothing was done about last month’s charge, and today they hit me again.
If you join here, expect extra charges, and it’s on you to spend your time trying to fix it.

I’ve been a Club4 member for almost 5 months and I absolutely LOVE it! I specifically go for the classes and they are the highlight of my day. My favorites are: BodyCombat with Alicia, Yoga with Joanna, BodyPump with Shelley, POUND with Tatiana, BodyAttack with Christina and BodyStep with Stephanie. Hillcrest is definitely my favorite location with my favorite staff, but Schillinger is a close second!

Let me start by saying we just joined this club yesterday 8/6/21. When we went for the tour we were impressed by the number of machines, different workout zones and classes they offered. That is the reason we joined.
But this place is dirty- I thought maybe it was because they didn't have that many people working: but we went in for first workout/cycle class this morning and nothing had changed. Bathrooms were still as NASTY as they were at 1 o'clock the day before, every window, door and piece of glass in the place needs to be cleaned with windex and every machine has an dust in the cup holders and on the machines.
In other words this location needs to hire a few more people just to clean and it could be perfect.

I’m an American Gladiator “MAYHEM” out of LA and I have to say with my 3 month visit here in Alabama that this is the place to be it’s clean and everyone here is so nice and polite. Carry on MAYHEM OUT!
