Bathroom is always out of stock and dirty. Pubic hairs and gum in urinal. 30% of machines are broken. Plates everywhere. They never pick up.

Was a member when crunch first opened in Tuscaloosa over years a few things were out of order or broken down for a few days maybe a week. Now in 2025 everything is broken down in the gym, hell I can get a better workout with nothing at home nowadays. This looking like my last year there even the restrooms are broken down smh. I still say we need a crunch in Northport 🤞

So many machines in there that are not working. I asked the guy at the desk when will they fix them he said he doesn't know. The machines have been messed up for months now. The maintenance on the machines suck, I would not recommend going to this gym. I have taken so many pictures of the machines messed up but I don't know how to post them on here.

Been going to Crunch since 2018, and for a while it was great. Over the last couple years, it has been going severely downhill. Equipment will be broken for months, barbells are almost all bent, it's generally dirty for a gym, they let people park anywhere they want (even in non-spaces that make it harder for others to leave), and the list goes on. For the money, you're better off going to Planet Fitness

Not sure why staff gets paid anything to sit at the desk and do absolutely nothing they're completely useless when you have a problem and all the equipment is always broken

I wanted to find someone that i could go to and learned that i had some family issuses that cause me to be out of town and canceled with in two weeks. I went and cancel and was told that I still owe for one month and stated that was find but that I didn't owe anything else. They have hit my account for almost 250 and when i called they told me that there was nothing they can do that I have to have the membership for two much before I could cancel. No one ever said anything and only told me what I only owe that one month. I will never go back.

This is by far the worst gym I’ve ever been a part of. It’s incredibly overstaffed, yet somehow everything still stays filthy. The managers are rude and dismissive when you try to give constructive criticism, and the equipment is constantly broken for months at a time. At this point, you can barely get through a proper leg workout with what’s available. I know this location is making plenty of money—so please, hire a competent manager who can actually fix these issues.

Hello,

I’ve been a Crunch member for quite some time, and while I love the classes and what the gym offers, the condition of this facility has gone downhill badly. The gym is being run poorly and feels very run down and honestly, it’s becoming unacceptable.

There are holes in the ceiling that have been leaking for who knows how long. The floors are consistently dirty, and the spaces between machines are absolutely disgusting. The mirrors, bathrooms, and overall cleanliness are neglected. It’s extremely frustrating to see so many staff members crowded at the front desk, yet nothing around the gym is being cleaned, wiped down, or properly maintained.

I can’t imagine this is up to Crunch standards and I truly hope this message makes it into the right hands. A surprise walk-through by higher management would make the issues clear immediately. At this point, the state of the facility feels like a health concern and I wonder if gyms are supposed to receive a health grade inspection.

Please take this seriously, your members deserve a clean, safe place to work out!

*UPDATE- *UPDATE: Since Daquan joined as the new cleaning guy, I must admit that he’s the BEST PERSON I’ve ever seen take his role seriously. Please keep him satisfied, @crunch! This place has been the cleanest since he’s been here.

Thanks a lot, Daquan! You’re appreciated!

Stopped here on our way through town. If this was our home Crunch? no way. Employees at the front desk were very nice, that's what earned 2 stars. After that, this gym is pretty nasty. The dust evolved into dirt long ago and now collects in dirt balls around all the equipment. The mirrors... so gross. The bathrooms... enter at your own risk. The equipment itself is poorly maintained with torn pads, destroyed lifting platforms, etc.
People working out there leave their weights and equipment everywhere. I get it though, it's a gym that obviously the owner doesn't care about so why should the customers care? We will skip this Crunch next time we're in the area.

Broken equipment all over the place. One urinal has been out of order for nearly a month. They are finally replacing the moldy boards in the sauna. Two Sundays now there has been no paper towels, they put out toilet paper so the gym is covered with pieces of wet toilet paper from people cleaning the equipment with it.

-- No toilet paper in both stalls. This has been a repeated problem to the point where I bring my own toilet paper.
-- Pidgeon poop on door step and door glass. It has never been cleaned for as long as I've been going there.
-- Machines (pec-fly) that are broken for 4 weeks
-- Clocks that have not been fixed for 6 months which suggests the management is neglecting more than just the clocks.

My stepson moved out of town and forgot to cancel and didn't realize crunch was one of the scummy gyms that makes it difficult to cancel without driving 2 hours back it's 2025 it shouldn't be so difficult to cancel

Gym is fine with good amenities management is horrible to say the least. Get ClassPass and avoid this place at all costs. I attempted to cancel my membership and had a freind go in on my behalf (which is what I was told). This freind was told she cannot do it and was spoken to by Olivia in a horrible manner. I called to follow up on this and subsequently was hung up on my the director.

I called later in the day assuming this was a mistake and spoke to tanner who was giggling on the phone like a kid in a candy shop. He stated he was going to hang up and eventually after refusing that option actually had an ounce of customer service kick in. On the phone said things like “I’m sorry you chose to move to another state” and “idk who told you a freind can come in” and that he “has a business to run”. While I understand that he has duties as a manager of a Tuscaloosa gym customer service is part of business and it very much so is not their strong suit.

After this conversation I have to send a certified letter again to cancel this membership. I hope that management uses this as an opportunity to improve customer service for their team and understand that speaking to customers in this way is unacceptable.

Very, very, very, very slow to fix equipment when it is broken. So expect to pay for services that you’re not getting. Staff is nice though. Update, this time it was out for two months. It wasn’t nine days. And tonight when I went, there were no head covers. I had to dig one out of the trash and of course one spray tanning machine is down only one is working and that one is out of clear light so I had to get bronze light. And the showers in the women’s bathroom do not work. Like I said always something broke. Except the mechanism for taking money that never breaks does it🙄

⚠️ Warning: Think Twice Before Joining This Gym

I signed up for a free trial hoping to find a fitness option that would fit my schedule as a busy mom. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.

When I realized the gym wouldn’t work for me, I tried to cancel before the trial ended. I called and was told I had to cancel in person. When I went to the location, the interaction I had with the on-duty manager left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. I left without clear instructions on how to complete my cancellation.

Since then, it has been very difficult to stop charges, and the process to cancel feels unnecessarily complicated. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to carefully read the cancellation policy and be prepared for a potentially frustrating process.

Good luck trying to cancel. I had to leave the state unexpectedly. Tried to cancel my membership online...can't do that. Tried to email them a handwritten cancelation request...can't do that. Mailed them 3 notices..still didnt cancel. Wanted an in person hand delivered letter to cancel. Had to get someone down there to hand deliver a written cancelation request. Still won't cancel and charged me for the all the months I've been requesting cancelation. Good luck with them. I would give them 0 stars if I could. You better read the fine print cause the owner doesn't give a shit and managers are just as rude. They reported me to a credit bureau after I changed debit cards after 1 missed payment. Now they say I owe 125 to cancel. Online says I owe 89. You think your gonna keep my money..you might get it but you aint keeping it.

Crunch Fitness Tuscaloosa is a money trap. I’ve been dealing with them for four months, trying to get refunds for canceled training sessions that I was still charged for. The training fees are too high, but I was willing to sign the agreement because I liked the trainer. After a few months, I decided to cancel. A manager named Quincey had me fill out cancellation paperwork, but I didn’t get a copy (my mistake, I didn’t insist). He supposedly lost that paperwork, and I was charged three more times, $270 every two weeks. I finally got refunds for two of the charges, but they still owe me $270. Be warned if you decide to sign an agreement with them. The management team is very unorganized. If I could give a negative rating, I would!
On top of that, I have been in cleaner gyms for sure. Lady’s restroom always needs attention. At least the times I have been there.
Too many options in Tuscaloosa area to deal with poor management!

Yooo, Normally thier gyms are clean. I don't think this gym has been cleaned in 5 years. I have never seen any of the employees clean anything. The men's restrooms look like they just pee on the floor and will fix it at the end of the night. I mean if you're desperate for some cleaners, I'll come in and make this place spotless lol. Let's be honest it takes maybe a few hours to clean a gym with how bad this gym is probably a few months to get it back to being where you can just do a light cleaning. Not gonna lie I'm not sure how the health department hasn't shut them down. The employees here are very nice so this reflects on management and owners for not having a cleaning crew. It's 24 hours fully packed what are you doing with the money??? Clean your damn gym!

The women’s bathroom stalls stay taped up and broken. Last week there was only 1 stall for all women to use. One of the stalls has been broken for months. The 2nd stall that broke has been taped up for over a month. It’s ridiculous to spend the money I do monthly and if I wanted to drop my membership I have to pay $20 but I can’t use the bathroom half the time. There is no excuse for this to stay this way for months at a time.

The people at the front are wonderful and super helpful, beyond that this is the biggest scam of a gym I have ever worked out at. I loose my wallet while moving away and canceled my debit card, in turn missed one payment for crunch fitness. It was sent to debt collections within one week. I called to cancel the account, which I'm told I'm not allowed to cancel over the phone or online, I have to be in person or send a letter through the mail.... Me working 60 hours a week made this difficult, I take time off work to resolve the issue and am charged a total of 135 dollars for the closing of both of my accounts for my wife and I. Reminder this has all been within a week and a half of canceling my debit card. I will never recommend anyone to workout at this franchise ever again for the scam and the cleanliness of the building.

I don't normally write negative reviews, but after reading many other negative reviews of the same issue that I had Saturday morning I feel like I have to. This gym is by far the dirtiest gym I've ever been to in my life and I've been going to gyms for 35 years. The picture below is a representation of what I saw and it's very similar to other reviews from months ago which I can't believe the problem hasn't been corrected in that period of time. I'd be embarrassed if I was the manager here.

Overall the gym is a decent gym with a good variety of equipment but I’ve been coming here for a few years now and I’ve never been to a business that shows such little to no love for their business , their bathrooms are HORRIBLE. There’s literally a sock holding together the door in the men’s restroom.
I’ve spoken with management but it’s more of an argument than speaking to a “manager” .
Hope for some changes.

This is by far the worst gym that I have ever set foot in. The equipment is absolutely disgusting and if I believe both times I have went to this gym I have yet to see anyone else clean off the equipment after they used it. The management or workers to say the least are rude. The guy at the desk made me buy cheap plastic eyewear for the tanning bed that I could have easily ordered for 1$ on temu. He was refusing to let me in the tanning bed unless I bought them. After I purchased them I went in the tanning bed and it looked like no one had ever cleaned it since the building opened. WORST GYM EVER!

THIS GYM WILL RUIN YOUR CREDIT SCORE
My daughter attends UA and wanted to try a gym off campus. She signed up at Crunch in Tuscaloosa because “you can cancel at anytime”. She canceled after a few months but they continued to bill her and then reported her to a debt collection company. Now she has a collection on her credit report which dropped her credit score tremendously. As a result, she will have to pay higher rates for car loans, credit cards, student loans, mortgages and rent payments. Just wanted to warn everyone about this company’s deceptive practices. I bet they make more money on this scam than they do from paying members. Do not sign up here unless you plan on NEVER trying to cancel. BUYER BEWARE!

Absolutely Awful Experience – Be Careful!
I called Crunch Fitness to cancel my $20/month membership and was told over the phone that I could cancel by email. I followed the instructions exactly and emailed them to cancel. Over a month later with no further communication I thought everything was fine, but then I got charged $70 out of nowhere.

When I went in to ask about the charge, they told me I was given the wrong information and said they would honor my original cancellation date and reverse the charge. Instead, they ended up sending me to a collections agency!

As a college student, this has been incredibly stressful and unfair. I did everything I was told to do and still got penalized. Be very careful dealing with Crunch—they clearly don’t communicate well internally and don’t take accountability for their mistakes. They are just trying to take college students money any way they can.

Edit to response: so being rude to paid members happens regularly? Being harassed at the front desk upon checkin is standard practice? How sad! Formal complaint to BBB and social attention to come...

When I'm at crunch, I'm working out with other PAYING MEMBERS! Do better at this establishment. Your management is horrible and that is why there is always turnover and negative complaints on a consistent basis. Your vague response is shameful. I don't care who approaches me from your staff, they should learn respect.

On March 25, while working, my friends and i were literally being watched like a hawk by Quincy, the director of personal training. The next day while checking in, I was approached by Quincy at the front desk asking if I was a trainer. He then goes on to tell me I'm not allowed to train people when he clearly saw me working out the day before when he refused to take he eyes off of us(yuck). He stated that he's kicking people out that train, further insinuating that I'm training when again, he clearly saw us working out. His disposition was rude and argumentative.

After he confronted me, I approached the GM, Tanner asking if there was a corporate contact. He replied that he was a third party and I needed to go through him. As I began speaking to him, Quincy walked up and began interrupting our conversation. Tanner then began questioning me (at the front desk while people are walking in)asking if I'm giving direction to those i workout with and if I'm telling them how to workout. Tanner was extremely dismissive and lacks any and all problem solving skills. I immeasurably canceled my membership bc I will not workout in an environment where I feel uncomfortable, watched and bullied.

I’ve been a dedicated member of Crunch Fitness in Tuscaloosa since its opening in 2018, and my experience has been consistently positive. Even during peak hours, there’s always equipment available, ensuring an uninterrupted workout session.

Sauna Benefits

The sauna is a standout feature for me, playing a pivotal role in my mental and physical well-being. Regular sessions have enhanced my recovery and relaxation, making it an integral part of my fitness routine. I hope Crunch continues to maintain and possibly enhance the sauna facilities to further benefit its members.

Outstanding Staff

The staff at Crunch Tuscaloosa truly elevates the gym experience. Employees like CJ, Taylor, and Ethan exemplify dedication and passion in their roles. Their commitment to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment is commendable and greatly appreciated.

Recommendation

For those seeking an affordable gym with excellent facilities and a supportive community, I highly recommend Crunch Fitness Tuscaloosa. It’s a place where both your fitness goals and well-being are prioritized.

I chose Crunch over Planet Fitness for a few machines that PF said they don't have. The gym portion is fine, but tends to be crazy busy even when the crowd meter says "light". My biggest issue is the changing rooms & bathrooms. For one, ther is only 1 changing stall for the women. So if you have to totally change clothes? Be prepared to either wait or get bare in front of everyone if it's in use. Next, the shower room is filthy. Mildew & mold on the shower tiles, NO SHOWER CLEANER available for use between patrons, nowhere to place your clean clothes or products (so be prepared to put them on the unsanitized floor), and there is a PANTY LINER (yes, as in a used feminine hygeine product) that has been stuck in the corner of one of the showers for A WHOLE WEEK now. I don't think the staff are even cleaning those showers.

Terrible! The Tuscaloosa location is the grossest workout facility I’ve ever been in. The staff is lazy. I have been to this facility at least 20 times so far and not once, have I ever seen it clean. It smells horrible, especially the locker room. I’ve been to several Crunch Fitness gyms because of my travel schedule and this one BY FAR, is the nastiest. I love Crunch Fitness. I hate to even call one of there locations out but it’s so bad. I have a Crunch Fitness convenient to where I live. The Tuscaloosa location is a direct result of poor staff and management. It blows my mind they allow this.

The equipment is gross and a lot of the equipment stays under repairs. I have witnessed “padding” for a piece of equipment to take over 3 months to get installed.

I see more of there staff sitting around on there phones, rather than working. Do better! Take pride in what you do and where you work!

The gym is great, my only issue is the fact I pay for a membership not only for myself but for my children as well. The daycare is closed half the time, luckily we had a trainer (Lucy) who was nice enough to watch my children for only an hour, because of her cancelled appointment. She shouldn’t have to do that if yall had extra people to fill in that position, it’s very difficult for parents to have free time outside of work and if we pay for that we should be provided a OPEN daycare. The inconsistency of not having staff to watch our children, will make yall lose customers, I’m hoping this will change, and yall hire more people to fill positions. Because this ain’t it, and it’s bad for business. But if I pay for my membership and I’m not able to workout because yall are lacking people , there should be a way to reimburse the parents .

**** Update 12/26/24*** *
I love the response asking when I was a guest. Check in system didn’t work? I badged in twice. I’ve been a member for years now. See the updated pic of weights all over the place when I was there as proof I was in your establishment.

***** Original*****
I travel for work and have been to many crunch locations. This one has a great variety of equipment. Other than that, one star for being really dirty and just flat out gross. Clearly hasn’t been cleaned for quite a while. Vomit in the men’s locker room sink, dust built up on top of a lot of the equipment, mirrors all smudged and dirty, weights laying all over the place not re-racked or organized at all. The paper towel dispensers for wiping down equipment were empty. Doesn’t compare to most of the other locations I’ve been to. Usually they’re very organized, clean, and in great order. This one needs some help.

Beware!!! Do not give them your bank acct information. They post unauthorized charges to your account! My son was charged for 2 other members accts. A total of $234.35 was taken out of his account in Oct. And $ 54.98 in Sept. Tanner the “manager” does not respond when you email. I sent him an email with the details and he had the nerve to ask if my son had more the one account. Why would he have more than one acct? If he has more than one acct it would be because your staff made him more than one. The bank researched the ACH debits and there were 2 names connected to the transactions that didn't belong to my son. Explain that?? I hope you credit back the money you fraudulently charged. It seems like there are many reviews similar to mine. Hopefully the franchisee will see my post and respond since I can't get anywhere with Tanner responding.

Cancelled my membership after giving them over 3 months of grace. If you are looking for a gym solely based on the childcare options do not get a membership here. The “kids crunch” childcare is consistently closed when it is scheduled to be open. They will then say to call before come to make sure it is open. I have done that numerous times and either no one answers the phone when I call multiple times over a period of an hour or I have called and the assistant GM answers the phone and tells me that it is open then when I get there it’s closed. This is very frustrating when you have multiple kids and are driving 30 minutes just to work out.

Also, I put in a request to cancel my membership in October. When I received the email confirming my cancellation they did not cancel it till December and the reason they put was “moving” which is not true.

Very frustrating and the management does not seem to care at all about anyone besides college students. Hopefully others do not receive the same treatment. I have also talked to many other parents and previous employees that worked in the child care room at the gym and I can now understand why they cannot keep it staffed since they professionalism of the GM is pretty much nonexistent.

It seems the manager goes out his way to ask that certain people have to show their id tags to get massages at Crunch. The manager went out his way to make sure I had to show my id twice today while I personally witnessed people who looked like him did not get id tag checked. It seems the manager thinks that people of color need to have their id checked instead of everyone getting their id checked. How biased of the manager who should treat everyone the same regardless of what they look like. Not a great look, Crunch.

Do NOT sign up for a membership online, honestly do NOT sign up for this sorry excuse of a gym at all. I started to sign up for a 12 month non-commitment membership back in June with a buddy of mine while the college kids were not all over the place. Once the college kids came back and school started I went to cancel my membership at the gym personally but they said I sign up for the 12 month commitment contract (knowing damn well I didn’t) and could not cancel unless I paid the rest of the years memebership. The GM Tanner is not the greatest at his job and is honestly not fit for the GM position. He doesn’t have much patience when it comes to figuring out a situation. I also spoke to the “southeast director Jeff” personally at the gym the same day about the situation and I have not received an email once I emailed him proof of the false claims against me. Before I walked out the door Tanner the “GM” said they had ways of pulling my payment if I tried to cancel or block them from pulling out of my bank account. This is not the first and only issue I’ve had with this gym and I honestly do not even want to walk through the threshold nor look at the place but they are still pulling monthly payments out of my account. Be aware!!

This Gym has a horrible Gm
They do not care about the regulars who come in the GM only cares for the college kids that sign up
He shoots a commercial trying to get new people to sign up !
But neglects equipment that has been broken for months !!! Oh and btw if you try to get the Gm to do anything about people who just sit at a machine on there phone allowing no one else to get there reps in he will back up the college kids who just sit there on phone not using machines because when I brought this to his attention he said there is no company policy that says they can’t do that if thats the case just bring you a pillow and blanket and lay down on the bench press seat and watch a Netflix movie on your phone

Desk person said that the spray tan was broken and smoking. I asked him about the second one and he said that was smoking too. Oh, COME ON, how can they both start smoking at the same time? Spray tan stays broken. Both leg curl machines beyond repair, ugly and taking up space. Hydromassage, none out of 4 work. I might as well go to the $9.99 Planet Fitness. Close this awful facility down!

Well, it finally happened...The general manager Tanner asked me to scan my crunch barcode "randomly" when I requested to use massage chair after a rigorous workout and then seemed offended when I asked why. I had already been scanned into gym over an hour before he asked to verify my membership again. I asked him if there had been a system update where Crunch was counting how many times a patron used the amenities to which he seemed to imply that it was. However, he then admitted that he needed to scan my card to verify what level at Crunch I was on for the added perks. I find it odd that no one has ever asked to verify my membership level each time that I have used the massage chair. Tanner was in the gym without a badge on or a Crunch Fitness polo, but he made it his business to come verify my Crunch Fitness level even though there were multiple, uniformed associates at the desk.

I have been a member here for nearly 6 months. You would think as general manager that he would be more concerned with the multiple leaking ceiling spots, broken exercise equipment, displaced soap dispensers, empty paper towels holders, out of order women's bathroom stalls, and overrunning trash cans more so than verifying my fitness level in front of multiple, uniformed associates. Of course, when I thanked Tanner by name for verifying that I was at the appropriate level, he then proceeded to ask if I was going to corporate. Smh... Do better, General Manager🙄🤏🏼

The equipment is often broken for months at a time. Sometimes has an out of order signs but some cable machines have exposed cords or the ability to change weight is broken. I know I've brought it managements attention several times but that was months ago and the equipment is still broken.

Speaking of management, the GM, Tanner, doesn't seem to like older, minority, or overweight clientele very much at all from what I gather from interaction with him. He is very condescending and lacks the ability to show any sort of respect for paying clients unless they are young.

Any basic question, he is makes it seem like what you are saying doesn't matter. Even if you are trying to get clarification. He will talk over you like what you have to say is of no concern. He is quite rude. Very bad customer service.

Every interaction I've had has gone this way. I've talked to other clientele that are now canceling their memberships because the GM is making it uncomfortable for older clientele even going as far as hearing him say that they disgusted him.

The gym used to have a welcoming feeling but not so much any more.

Also, the fans over the weight and cardio area is supposed to be used for circulation and decrease the usage of a/c they are constantly turned off when the gym is full and makes the whole gym reek of stagnant air.

I've requested they be turned on by the front desk and I get scoffed at.

Don't get me started on the santizing spray and towels for wiping the machines.

The gym has seriously gone down hill in the last several months.

At least the free weights aren't broken and I still use them.

2 months Crunch Fitness .... That's how long the ONE Smith machine (the only one) in the entire gym has been sticking on the left riser side while sliding up.
I have told you guys about it at least 8 times... (every Monday/chest day).
Did it cause my shoulder injury??? I doubt it...but it sure doesn't help it, as out of order signs go up and come down without getting fixed....
"Well there is only one maintenance person in town"..... That's what I'm told by your staff...even though we are 45 minutes away from a MAJOR METROPOLITAN AREA of BIRMINGHAM...
2 MONTHS now guys....come on... $40.00 a month, from me alone, should be covering this...but you have probably 1,000 other members too that help pay the bills....for now.

The new GM called me and he was a super nice dude. I don’t empathize with him because it seems he has inherited a tad of a sticky situation from the old manager.

He resolved the negative feedback I had, in a way that was above and beyond, and settled my concerns. However, I will say my previous review isn’t really about emotions. It was an actual experience I feel the average person wouldn’t be too happy about but I am super glad the new manager wants to rebuild burned bridges.

I joined this gym almost a year ago and canceled my membership due to its cleanliness issues—machines, tanning beds, bathroom, and kids' playroom were all dirty. About a month ago, my daughter convinced me to rejoin, promising it's improved, but it hasn't. The tanning beds and bathroom are still filthy, and the front employees are a big problem. Despite claiming to be judgment-free, they've repeatedly shown bias against older people and larger women. For instance, during a recent visit with my mom, the employee neglected to acknowledge her presence and instead prioritized helping younger, thinner girls. This has happened multiple times, and attempts to speak to a manager have been fruitless. It's time for a complete overhaul of the staff and cleanliness standards—they should earn their paycheck by maintaining the gym properly, not by socializing and neglecting their duties.

Poor management with new manager all kinds of broken down equipment, none of the trainers are whipping down equipment, nor are they having training people wipe down equipment,I told him about it and it still isn’t being done.Bathrooms are a bit better than before but that’s about it. Paper towel holders a constantly out of paper towel tell a trainer about it and they do nothing about it, I think they believe they are above that and done have to do that, pretty sad if they did their job instead of playing on computer and their phones things might be a lot better so that’s where the new manager needs to do his job or nobody will do theirs. I cancelled my membership in November of last year (why must we go in person to cancel but can sign up in line). I was charged for December, January, and February. When I called back (having already moved out of town), I was told that the manager would have to contact me. I gave them my information four times and the manager never reached out. I happened to be in town so I stopped by in person, the manager is still not here. Why is a manager not always there that can handle refunds during 8 to 5 hours? If I am told that the manager will be in after 1 pm and I call at 2, 3, and 4 pm on various days, why is the manager not there?

CJ truly cares about his clients and throughout our time together it was apparent that he wasn’t in the business just for the money. I also would like to add that CJ was very accommodating with my very busy schedule. THEN THEN TODAY I WAS CHARGED $900 and I was told there is nothing they can do about it! So in total I’ve been charged $1,600 in the past year for all of this. If you want to be robbed repeatedly this is the place for you!

You need to fill out a form to cancel your membership, which is typical for a gym. However I did this in May of last year, and they continued to charge me month after month through October. I called dozens of times (only got an answer probably 1 in 5 times) and each time was assured payments would stop and I'd be refunded back to when I cancelled, and each month I got charged again. I went back to Tuscaloosa in September (after having graduated and moved away in May) partially just to talk to someone to their face about the refund, and was told they would definitely stop charging me. You can imagine how upset I was to be charged in October, at a new higher rate they increased to. They can go on the system to up my rates, but not to cancel the membership I ended months ago. They also then charged me the yearly fee on top of that month's fee. In November they finally stopped, but no matter how often I call (when I can get someone to answer), I am told to wait "2-3 weeks" for my refund. It has been months, almost a year since I actually cancelled, and I am still out the $133.87 they effectively stole from me. Go to another gym that honors their contracts

About as nasty as a gym can get. I was going at 6am every morning. Bathrooms are awful, never clean. Always out of tissue and towels. trash all over the floors

A good portion of the equipment is broken. I get that things break but to have a machine down for months is ridiculous. 30% of the cable machine are broken and havent not been fixed.

Their ab machine alone has been broken for MONTHS now. With no sign of getting fixed. It's sitting in pieces on the floor... for months now.

Their hydro massage machine are all down for months now. Not sure how all of their machines can be broken at once but they are according to staff.

You get what you pay for.

Best tip I can give you for going to Crunch would be to go to Planet Fitness or any other gym.

Pros:
Open 24/7
Installed a new line of hammer strength equipment
Installed nice hip thrust machines
Large, so it is rarely so busy you can't find some open equipment
Cons:
Most of the machines on the weight side of the gym are rarely used due to their awkward biomechanics. Honestly, if they got rid of them and installed more benches, squats racks, dumbbell stations, it would be more useful to the members. That or a couple belt squat machines would be great!
I get with the gym comprised mostly 20-year-olds keeping the bathroom clean is a non-stop chore. But the soap is always empty. That is gross as people are using the restroom and then not washing with soap before touching all the equipment.

Just joined after a week trial. Never used the sauna till after joining and that was a mistake. The smell is definitely one of the worst smells I've dealt with like a noxious gas that makes you wonder if your smell receptors will be damaged afterwards and it's not surprising. The amount of crude and scum that lines the sauna floors and first level chairs is disgusting. You can see they try to clean by throwing water down and the black stains have slowly crawled up their walls to about 3feet. The bench when you first walk in is broken and will snap soon. I wrote a message to the gym but didn't get any reply. The cost of wood to redo every two years outweighs the MRSA risk but I guess it's a wait and see kinda deal. Also the door slams and there's no handle inside the sauna looks like it fell off. It's a decent gym with a great vibe but they need to get a good contractor to keep up with easy stuff, instead of people venting in reviews. Looking forward to actions not excuses.

*Edit: I cancelled in person on Sunday the 5th and was still charged without warning for the next month. The employee who cancelled my account didn't give me anything to sign so I'm not sure why coming in in person was necessary. I can't tell you how much i enjoy their equipment and how large of an area it is for that alone i would give them 5 stars but I've been coming here for 4 months now and the worst thing is the bathrooms i know you can't expect the floors to be spotless bc of the amount of traffic but c'mon let's fix the urinals and toilets it's absolutely disgusting to walk and here splashing of toilet water and it smells like hot piss like wth and no it's not that sauna the gives that smell it's warm piss sitting in the urinals absolutely disgusting and now there's a roll of paper to soak it up?! Nasty!!! get someone who knows what they're doing to fix this! *update* Theyve definitely started keeping the bathrooms tidy which is great

Honestly they have everything you need!! The staff is very lovely and they work with you, especially if you have a lot of questions. They have every machine you would need and they have so many great classes if you are fairly new to the workout world. They also provide personal training so if you want more 1 on 1 that is perfect for you!! The greatest thing about this gym is they are 24/7!!! Overall, coming to this gym they gave me a warm welcome and made me feel like a part of the family right away!!

Was great in the past, be warned they will charge you after you cancel in person. It’s been 4 months of being charged monthly and I can’t even get them to answer their phone after calling 5 days in a row. Oh and did I mention their voicemail is full so you cant even leave a voicemail. We’ll see how long it takes to actually cancel and get my refund (if ever). Be ready to be ripped off if you sign up at Crunch Tuscaloosa

Just got a membership here at crunch and honestly it was all because of Brad! Probably one of the most welcoming and respectful guys I’ve ever had the honor of meeting. His character is definitely a magnet for clientele and I probably would not have registered for crunch has he not been the first person to talk to me.

Well I see another review someone has same issue I cancelled before the end of March and was told I would be charged April but not after that which I knew. However I was still charged in May. I’ve called for two days no answer. Finally a personal trainer answers leaves me on hold and never comes back. I need my membership actually cancelled and to be refunded..

Whatever you do guys do not go to this gym this is a scam because they took 136 dollars out of my checking account while I was trying to pay my doctors bill and save up for a car so dont go there it will be hard to cancel your gym membership so please dont go you will be charged.

I usually go in the mornings, around 8 or 9am. The desk staff is helpful and friendly. They get to know you, which is nice.

When I go, I never have to wait for a machine as they have many. I love the sauna, hydromassage, tanning, and red light therapy. Those spaces are always clean and help me relax after a workout.

Do not get a membership with this gym. The workers are incompetent and untrained and will not do even the most basic things correctly. I cancelled my membership at this club before March 30, 2023. I went in-person and signed off on the cancellation with a worker at the front desk. He told me I would still be charged for April 1 but nothing after that. I woke up with TWO charges from Crunch on May 1. I should have not been charged in May considering I cancelled before March 30. Turns out, the guy who was helping me did not do it correctly and my membership was still active without my knowing. It is almost June and Crunch has still not refunded me and everytime I call they say they will, and they don’t. Save yourself from getting stolen from and go somewhere else. They can’t even do one of their most basic job duties and it’s not worth you losing money over.

The new employee who wears the grey shirt with the carrot top hair IS RUDE AND ONLY ACKNOWLEDGES ONE SKIN COMPLEXION AT THE FRONT DESK. I once bought a drink and he spoke not one word during the interaction besides “card on file” and before I said yes, he walked away and resumed something on the opposite side without saying you can sign, have a great day nothing! Other occasions I could’ve stolen the drink because of how disengaged he was but an employee that came in to workout rung me up one one occasion and on others I just paid for it on my way out after drinking it! He’a definitely not front desk material but at this location, that’s not surprising!
