I started at this gym with a personal trainer for 6 months and it was the start of an amazing hobby. I’ve been working out here for just over a year now. The staff is amazing. They're extremely nice, welcoming, and encouraging. The members range anywhere from teens to elders; and there’s something for everyone. I haven’t felt this at home in a gym ever. Also, it’s very affordable compared to big name gyms. For 2 people, only $80 per month and that includes classes they often offer. The members at this gym even encouraged me to think about powerlifting. I love this place.

This is a great gym with fantastic staff. They have just about all the equipment you need, there is a great community here, and everyone is very nice and supportive. They're always looking for ways to improve the gym, and I've never seen a machine broken or a bench with torn fabric for longer than a few days. I've never done their personal training, but from just being around up here, I can see how each of them really cares about their clients. I couldn't recommend this place more.

DON’T GET A MEMBERSHIP AT THIS GYM!! It’s not worth it. They get you to sign a “1-year contract” and then give you a hard time when you want to cancel it. This gym is always dirty, the spray bottles and paper towels are always empty, the employees DON’T clean the gym/equipment. The restrooms are gross. $50 monthly for an outdated gym is outrageous. Definitely expected more from this considering it being a “private” gym but I should’ve just stayed with Planet Fitness or making that 25 minute drive to Club 4. At least they clean their equipment regularly and the employees aren’t just sitting around eating Jack’s. 0/10 DON’T RECOMMEND. Also, they’ll send an $800 bill to collections if you don’t finish out the 1 year contract. DON’T DO IT!! ITS NOT WORTH IT.

I visited 1440 Gym today to finally resolve an issue with my account that had been ongoing for the last couple of years. I’ve spoken to different people off and on without much progress, but today was different. I had the pleasure of interacting with Jordan, and I want to commend him for his kindness and professionalism. He took the time to listen, didn’t push me off, and never talked down to me. Jordan was respectful, courteous, and truly a great face for the gym. He was able to fully resolve the issue, and I truly appreciate that. Still the same issue. Please get someone in to at least clean the rest rooms a few times a day. Tell all the ones that love it so much to flush the toilet and urinal. I'm afraid of your showers.

Gym is cool but not clean. There was a smell tonight and the men's restroom had a very strong urine smell. There is poop on the walls of stall. That poop has been there for weeks. I'm cool with the work out but I'll use the restroom before you get there and come dressed.

Awesome gym! I love old-school weightlifting gyms like this. It's a pretty good-sized facility, with a large quantity and variety of weight equipment. They have some machines that I either haven't seen in a long time, or haven't seen at other gyms at all.
The cardio equipment is far less than what you would find at a place like Planet Fitness, for example, but as long as it doesn't get too crowded here, it seems sufficient. The staff seem friendly and helpful.

The gym seems great but just not for me. Definitely has a good equipment option, some just out dated. The 1 star comes from not being told I was being 12 month contract. I went there day 1 trying to workout but I just simply didn’t like the energy and asked if i could get in assessment which is optional but giving if needed. I came into the schedule assessment which was just a sit down asking about goals and at the end I just didn’t like the vibe at all. I told the crew member that I just wanted to gone cancel the membership before it start taking any payments. That’s when he informed me about the contract. I have been working out for going on 2yrs. I am 21 years old and i know when something is just not a good fit for me. I just simply don’t think it is right to be force into a 12month payment of $55. When I was not told of the the policy of cancellation.

I called the gym to cancel my membership due to I'm pregnant, some lady I spoke with over the phone said I need to bring them proof that I'm pregnant, sure no problem. Since I been pregnant, I've been sick in, and out of the hospital, when I got better i stop by the gym,to show my proof. I wanted to make sure my membership was canceled, I wanted a refund as well. I was told, it was nothing they can do for me and that I owe $800, I should have came in sooner to sign paper work, and it's to late the gym had turned me over to collections. I can't workout I'm pregnant and no one called me to notify me about a bill. No matter what your situation is this gym DO NOT care about people well being They mistreat, take advantage and steal money from people.

I have been working in Birmingham for 6 months looking for a place to work out. My friend took me to Fitness 1440 and I have enjoyed going there as much as I can. The employee there and nice and encouraging. Jordan and Micah welcome you with a friendly hello and a nice word of encouragement. They do the same when you leave. For people like me who struggle to keep going at fitness that means a lot. It only takes a second to change the way a person feels about themselves, and kind words speak volumes for me. I do have a Fitness 1440 where I live and I feel like they only want the money and don’t really care about being healthy and in shape. Thank you for having such encouraging employees who care about the ones they are helping. I’ll definitely be back.

I absolutely love this gym. The staff have been wonderful to me, at least in years prior, and I genuinely love the feel of the environment and community within it. However, the recent price increase has left me with a sour feeling and a reminder that greed will always overtake the goodness of any business. The cleaning, equipment, and general upkeep is wonderful, but the price increase feels incredibly high, and I simply can not continue using this gym once my contract ends. To be fair, my price was already fairly low due to a grandfathered deal, but it will be gone soon. If you have the ability to pay, then do so. It is genuinely an amazing place. However, there are other places available to work out if the price is your concern. It breaks my heart to know these will be my final months here, but it has been an amazing journey.

Absolutely terrible customer service. When asking simple questions, the staff would rather dance around the question and distract you with additional jargon. I was really excited to find a new gym home as I used to spend all my leisure hours in a gym but they refuse to be upfront concerning their pricing. Called in December to garuntee my membership would not auto renew in January. The guy on the phone told me he was pretty certain contracts don't auto renew and that he would put a note on my account so it definitely wouldn't renew. Just realized I've still been getting charged. Called to see what happened and was told this time that I have to come in person to cancel and that i cant cancel over the phone!! Just another way to keep your money coming and another chance to talk you into staying!...Shouldn't have inadequate employees answering questions and making promises that cost customers money! Paper towels are always out. Cleaning solution is either extremely low or out. For the first time ever, I actually utilized the women’s locker room. I’m very disappointed and disgusted at the conditions the showers are in. Some of the equipment is missing padding and taped on by black duck tape. The towels that are supposed to be provided are NEVER CLEAN. I cannot wait until my contract is up in July. I’m definitely returning to Planet Fitness I came here for convenience because it’s 5 minutes from my house. I would much rather pay less and drive further and it’s cleaner.

Also, I've noticed at night it's not a safe environment, especially for women, as a lot of members bring in unauthorized people, non members, in with them during unstaffed hours. Sad I had to edit my rating but I’ve been a member of this gym for yearssss. My card on file expired last month and I finally received a call concerning it. I was told that I’m $60 behind and that I would have to pay the $60 to cancel or even continue my membership. It’s sad that a company would be willing to lose a customer over $60 that’s been a member for years and I haven’t even used the member in a almost a year just have been paying. So now I can’t even cancel and I will still be getting charged $40 per month. Make sure if you have a membership here to keep an eye on when your card expired because this is ridiculous. I’ve paid 40 per month for years and not touch the gym so cost is not a problem, just never knew I could go in arrears with my gym membership. I love this gym. I come here everytime I come visit family. It has an old school vibe, and the staff is super awesome. At one point, Alan was passing around fruit to members recovering from heavy lifts or intense cardio.

Joined about two months ago and could not ask for a better gym atmosphere. The gym is always kept exceptionally clean and everyone seems to pitch in with cleaning equipment after using it. I enjoyed going to Fitness 1440, but when my husband was between jobs, they refused to let me out of my contract. I didn't think that was very fair. All I wanted to do was suspend my membership for two or three months and then resume it. I did not think it would be a big deal but they refused to work with me. I go to Planet Fitness now and it's much more affordable and they have many more amenities, like massage chairs and tanning beds that are included with my monthly fee of only $21 a month. And I can take someone with me for free anytime I like.
