Been here a few years. It's going down hill. Things stay broken for days and weeks. Like the sauna, the AC, different machines. I'm saddened the main post gym of Fort Rucker cannot do better to support Soldier fitness.

Many machines need maintenance or replacement but I was able to find everything I needed. I am not I to them, but the rolling mirrors are innovative. Indoor track, push sleds, lots of power racks, basketball gym. Only thing that bothered me was a large poster on the wall advertising for military lawyers...seemed very out of place.

I will be bringing up the swimming pool. On the inside edge where the pool water splashes over and into a canal, this area / spot has not been cleaned as far as I can remember. When the indoor pool is closed during the summer months , this should be the time for the pool to be maintained; ATLEAST cleaned. But NO, when one returns Sept/ oct time frame, it still looks exactly the same. Sweat and dirt formed into a yellowish grim. REALLY in this day and age with all kinds of diseases, bacteria, and who knows what else is out their. My suggestion is for those life guards making 17,18 dollars an hour, and all they do for the majority of them is sit their for 15 minutes, not looking at swimmers for extended amount of time it's been a miracle their hasn't been an accident, but mark my word; it's coming. Why? it's been happening for to long. But the life guard can scub when they are not on the guards chair. Instead of sitting in the break room doing nothing.

My only gripe is that this gym does not abide by their own policy.
I have been told to change shirts (the same shirts that I have worn at ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ without issue). The shirts were not absurdly revealing or immodest; they were exactly what you would expect to see men wear in the gym.
I addressed that, although I understand yoga pants are traditionally acceptable in society (along with muscle shirts), why isn't this rule enforced as well? The response was that rule just hasn't caught up with the times yet, which is why it isn't enforced.
With that in mind, the gym should choose one of three COAs:
- Update the rule regarding yoga pants, which authorizes them.
- Update the rule regarding the midriff for men (with modesty, of course).
- Enforce the rule regarding yoga pants.

The staff are ALWAYS cleaning and working very hard which is great to see. There is one team member there who I have yet to see sitting down, she is constantly sweeping! However they didnโt have hot water for a few months. Then their only water fountain in a HUGE gym was leaking and that took a few days to fix. Some days they donโt open on time, which really sucks if you try to get there early to beat the rush. Well equipped, lots of room to play. Managers/members do a good job of equipment stewarding, and always respond to broken machines in a timely manner.

Gets the job done, decently clean, and provide cleaning products to use before and after equipment. Wish they had a basketball court in this location, one is located at the smaller gym on post. It's an older building and does get hot inside in the summer.

Great front desk staff. This is a very clean facility and the employees are constantly cleaning and checking out the rooms and equipment for the safety of patrons. I hope they replace the fiber glass pool ramp because it leaves little fragments of fiber glass in your feet. All the amenities work well and the pool is the perfect temperature.

Pretty good variety of equipment. Not a 24 hour gym so that is a bummer. ID is required. Has a pool, lots of squat racks, at least one racquet ball court, full sized locker rooms and showers w/sauna. No basketball courts cause the space is utilized for equipment. Also, has dedicated areas for sled drag/pulls and ball throws for ACFT training.

I mean itโs a good mix of machines and free weights; typically I never have to settle for something I donโt want; nor do I have to wait very long for a particular thing. Overall great and the staff is alway helpful. Really really wish they had CrossFit classes like so many of the Army base gyms but I canโt have everything I want. Please add CrossFit! Do it !

This gym is one of the largest Iโve been to during my time in the military. Even during peak times, thereโs equipment available. Not to mention the pool and full track. They have stand alone mirrors placed throughout. You only need to wear a mask if unvaccinated. Some equipment is closed due to Covid including a couple self ran treadmills. Otherwise, this gym has everything.

I served 26 years the army I worked out every day at lunch in my uniform by just taking my blouse off which is my top of my uniform with my combat boots on. Now I am retired I tried to go to the gym and workout while my son is in swim practice now I am being told by the manager that I cannot lift weights because I am wearing blue jeans even though I am wearing gym shoes. What has the army come to? I retired at the perfect time The army has went to hell in a handbasket

A decent workout facility, with a quarter-mile track behind for outdoor running like you'd see at a typical high school. Lots of free weight dumbbells to work with inside and a small roughly 150 M indoor track around the inside of the auditorium. A separate climate-controlled room for people who want to do bicycling, elliptical, or treadmill. There is also an indoor pool in the back that is open from Labor Day until Memorial Day.
That is the good. There are a few things that I question. I'm not sure the reasoning for forcing people to scan their ID cards in versus just checking that they have ID cards? Very " big brother is watching you" mentality and I've never seen that in any other workout facility in the military.
The hours rather minimal, and closing at 5 p.m. on weekends is really strange. Also it would be nice if there were more workout mats and areas to do sit-ups considering that, for now, the sit-up is still an integral part of the PT test.
All in all though, the facility is decent and it is a nice place to get out of the heat to work out
