Mazu brings an incredible environment and a very welcoming feeling from the coaches and the team members, when you’re a new person not knowing anyone in there they will take the time to make sure you’re always comfortable and feeling like you belong with everyone else. The coaches do a great job getting new people up to speed with the more advanced and they will take the time to one on one coach you when you’re having difficulty in a particular skill or drill. I think there’s great synergy within the coaches and how they want to handle a training session or class, they each have great features and unique styles of coaching and instructing. I’ve been there nearly 2 years and I don’t think I could ever leave because it feels like a home and family in there now. Come check us out!

I had the pleasure of training with instructors at Mazu Muay Thai for a week while I was visiting from out of state. I have taken Muay Thai classes from a handful of instructors and the head instructor, Cole is one of the most skilled. His approach is both laid back, and exceedingly detailed. He is able to concisely describe the rationale for doing a technique a certain way, which for me, is something I look for in a class. I do not go to Muay Thai to blow off steam and punch and kick things as hard as I can. I go to class to refine my technique and understand the WHY of how I am moving, defending, and attacking. When I sparred with some of the more competitive teenagers, it felt challenging but safe.
I also appreciated the approach of one of the other instructors whose class I enjoyed, but who also made it a point to encourage the team to take care of their bodies, eat healthy, look out for each other, and reach out to him should they ever have any troubles. In this era of total disconnection, it was nice to see someone actively building community and offering support to members.
I leave with more knowledge than I came with and I look forward to dropping in on my next trip!

Dope atmosphere, in depth hands on training along with verbal explanations. We also do group activities on some weekends.

I was visiting the area from out of town had the opportunity to drop in to a few classes at Mazu. Cole, the owner and head coach, does a great job of structuring classes, teaching solid skills, and creating a fun learning environment. He is hands on with students and gives honest but encouraging feedback.
The other students in class were welcoming and respectful to me, the coach, and each other. Especially as a woman who trains in Muay Thai, the gym culture is an important component in having a positive training environment. Mazu does a great job at fostering a positive environment that encourages growth.
It was a great experience and I can see why Mazu has a dedicated class full of students. I’ll be visiting the area again soon and am looking forward to training with the Mazu team again.

My 15 year old son J can’t get enough of this training. Coach Cole is an awesome instructor. I’ve never seen J so focused and eager to learn anything. I have even noticed that J is applying this focus and effort in other areas of his life (school, work, chores, etc.).

Nice place in the Fairhope/Daphne area for Muay Thai, pretty lucky to have a good environment with skills to follow. Cole has extensive muay thai fight experience from around the world not limited to Thai, Dutch, or a Kickboxing style and it shows in teaching ability and technique. I trained a few years in NYC and Cole has the skills to hang with the best. Seen a variety of skill levels come through the door as well and the classes never have an issue being flexible/responsive. Facilities have nice mats, pads, and bags for use as well.

I worked with Cole a few years ago and the training is still top notch. He really takes the time to go over things as well as gives step by step instructions for the most detailed one on one experience. When I first started a career in mixed martial arts I thought every fight usually ends on the ground but also starts standing and Cole gave me the opportunity to learn Muay Thai. Would definitely recommend if you are in the Alabama area looking for a great coach and great guy to work with.

Cole is a fantastic coach and truly an expert. Whether it’s a private or group session, his attention to detail and ability to communicate is top notch. Beginners and competitive athletes can learn a great deal from him and take their game to the next level. I highly recommend him as the premier striking coach on the gulf coast.
