Improved function and movement! I highly recommend Trainer Ike to anyone over 65 years-of-age who wants improved function and movement in their daily life, as well as to build strength. My stamina for all kinds of activities has at least doubled (e.g., 2-hour instead of 1-hour walks in the park!); morning stiffness is gone and the feeling of impending frailty has disappeared. His use of a personalized plan includes in the gym and outside the gym exercises that I built into my exercise routine. Thank you Ike!

In just a couple of weeks, I have learned so much at Metrics. The "releases" for muscles are very helpful. After being a member of several gyms for decades, I had never been taught this. Also, the classes teach exact body placement and muscle activation. The people who go here are so friendly and supportive - it makes one sad when the class ends! The equipment, the environment, and the instructor are very professional. I highly recommend this facility.

Personalized and detailed movement training.
I started with Ike to help me manage lower back/hip pain (after surgery and years of PT) and to build strength safely in my body. Most workouts at other places I left in pain, but Ike tailors my workouts to my specific needs and I have seen great change in strength and in confidence. I’ve had a wonderful experience at metrics fitness lab. Honey made the process of getting started so easy and quickly answered any questions I had. I have a labrum tear in my shoulder, and after working with the trainer, Ike, the pain and instability that I felt with my shoulder has noticeably improved, as well as the frequent pain I would feel in my back. I also took part in their 6 week diet plan called The Get Fit Challenge and loved how it was setup and the support given throughout the duration of it. The recipes provided were delicious and easy to make, and I noticed a major improvement in my energy levels during it.

Education is a basic fundamental of doing just about anything correct. Most of my whole life I’ve worked out from sports to mountain hunting. It wasn’t until I visited Metrics that I learned a great deal about how to work out correctly. Ike has shared detailed techniques on spine alignment, individual muscle concentration and mental clarity during a workout. I would historically show up to the gym and knock out the same session that I learned 25 years ago from our football coach/weight trainer or run through a circuit on the board. It wasn’t until recently that I was educated on how much further I could have taken those sessions with a little correct techniques. Highly recommend Metrics!

Each session starts and ends with stretching and relaxing targeted muscles. There’s great focus on form and targeting specific muscles during various exercises. After 8 yrs of hip pain, multiple visits to specialists, a boatload of NSAIDS and pain patches, and even a proposed nerve ablation, I arrived at Metrics feeling depressed and defeated. After working with Ike for only 4-6 weeks, my pain was mostly gone!! I was sleeping through the night again without waking every 2 hours to either take Aleve or apply lidocaine pain patches! I had hope again that I didn't have to live in pain all of the time. By evaluating my stance, gait, and other movements, lke began to help me strengthen muscle groups that had given up long ago. Coming to Metrics has been the miracle that I so desperately needed!!

Metrics Fitness is the best and has honestly changed my life! I have an autoimmune condition that has caused joint damage and chronic pain, and after years of different medications, going to Metrics has left me with the least pain I've had in years. It finally feels like I have my condition under control and not being on medication with harsh side effects has improved my quality of life immensely.

Quick summary of my review: This works! If you are waiting to join, join now.
Cons: It's expensive; but that is compared to the other gyms in town where you can spend $20 and work out on your own. I will say, however, you get what you pay for.
Pros: (Oh so many to list, but here is a few)
-This works! You will see results and you will see them quickly if you follow Ike's suggestions and directions
-Ike's guidance is invaluable. I have had personal trainers in the past and he is far and beyond better and any I have had. His knowledge of how the human body moves and what it needs to be functional is so spot on.
-The small sessions are great! I have social anxiety and am an introvert so I absolutely hate working out in large groups. The smaller class sizes are perfect.
-Everyone that attends the gym is supportive of each other and helps each other. It's a great group.
-Honey and Wyley are wonderful!
-There are always activities that motivate you to keep going and to push further in your exercise goals.
Here is my personal journey, if it at all matters in this review (lol). I have always been physically active and in shape. Then I had my second child and work was too busy. I began trying to get back in shape then COVID hit and I began eating and drinking all my feelings (like everyone). After six months of COVID, and two additional waist sizes, I focused on getting back in shape; buying an expensive exercise bike and all the equipment I could get at the time. After daily, multi-hours of working out for about six months did not see any changes. Once my family was completely vaccinated, I decided to signup for Metrics. I am not writing this review because it has been six months of being a member.
Here are my losses: 3% body fat; 16 inches over my entire body; 6 inches on my waist specifically; 10 lbs. total; constant hip, shoulder and back pain.
Here are my gains: strength in my back, chest and shoulders; knowledge of how to release tension over my entire body to reduce the cumulative injury cycle; strength in my heart and lungs; an exercise community that helps me hate exercising less (I really hate exercising); an exercise and eating routine that I can stick to and that is achievable; a better outlook on me!
So, to summarize, just join! It is worth it and you will love yourself for making this investment in you!

I had been encouraged for months to try Metrics Fitness by a friend, but I was scared because I was so out of shape, but I knew I had to do something before it was too late. I started at Metrics Fitness Lab when I signed up for the 6-week Get Fit Challenge. The commitment was scary to me. I work full-time, have a family, and to top it off, it had been years since I had been in a gym. I would go through short periods of trying to “get fit” but I could never really stick to a regular schedule, so I never had great results. This experience changed my entire perspective on health and fitness. The meal plans were so easy to implement, and I found myself excited to go to my workouts. With the smaller class sizes, it becomes like a little family. You get to know the people you work out with and they begin to support you through the challenge. After the 6 weeks were over, I was so proud that I was able to sustain something for that long and the results have kept me coming back month after month since. If you’ve been thinking about it, but always find a reason to not join, just do it! You have to show up, but Ike and his team will support you throughout the entire process. This place is amazing!!! I would recommend to anyone. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned athlete this place is amazing. I played soccer and swam my entire life. I first tried metrics with my girlfriend to do together. I didn’t know what to expect. Metrics Fitness Lab is by far THE BEST fitness studio in the Auburn/Opelika, Alabama area! And I’ve tried a number of different ones. With degrees in exercise science and an old knee injury to contend with, I have always had a hard time finding a fitness studio that puts form and function first. Metrics and Ike do just that! If you want to burn fat and gain muscle all while correcting your form and building a stable foundation, plus never having to worry about getting injured, then Metrics is where you should be training. Metrics is honestly my favorite fitness center I’ve ever joined and I’ve been through quiet a few. I was hesitant about joining since it’s in small groups since I’ve always been shy and embarrassed about working out so I always have done 1 on 1 personal training, however I feel more attended to, motivated, encouraged and helped at metrics than anywhere else. Which is something I need. Everyone is so kind and as a non competitive person I feel encouraged to push myself each week for our leaderboards and I really enjoy that aspect. I absolutely love Metrics! When I first started, I couldn't make it it through a full workout without stopping to recover, but with the encouragement of the trainers I stayed at it and I am so glad I did! I have lost over 20 lbs and feel so much more in shape! Each day's workout is different so your body is kept guessing and you never get bored!
I contribute a lot of this with wearing the heart rate monitor and the trainer, Ike.
The monitor kept me honest and the trainers taught me correct form and encouraged me.
I'll get measured soon to see how many inches I've lost and will post it here.

The six weeks challenge at metrics fitness was a gift given to me by my wife. I entered the challenge with only one goal in mind, to make her happy. I was able to meet with the trainers and quickly discovered that the challenge would change my life. Through the help of the trainers and staff at metrics I was able to participate in a monitored exercise program that was tailored to me. The program took into account my current fitness level and general health condition. The diet plan included recipes that were both easy to prepare and great tasting. The plan allows for eating out and multiple options for each mealtime. I could even enjoy a glass of wine or have dessert! Who would’ve ever thought a cream cheese pumpkin square could be on a diet plan.

I visited Metrics for the first time this week and really liked it. The staff is very hands on and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Metrics!! I love the small class personal trainer setting . It's interval training but with a trainer to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly so that you don't injure yourself or have pain later. I’ve completed a few sessions at Metrics Fitness Lab and it has been so great! Ike reached out to me to try it out & I am so thankful he did. They are an awesome gym with such a great team of instructors and employees. Honey was so accommodating with such a warm welcome. They are friendly and make every exercise and experience personal and specific to each client. It is such a great workout and with the small group sessions, it’s almost like getting one-on-one personal training so the money is so worth it. The personal trainers are motivating, positive and educational. I would definitely recommend Metrics Fitness lab to all my Auburn friends!!

Absolutely loved working out at Metrics Fitness Lab! I'm a personal trainer from NC and had to evacuate for the hurricane. I spent a week in Auburn and worked out at Metrics as many times as I could! The classes, trainers, and members are so nice and helpful! Ike and Kathryn really know their stuff! They are great when it comes to correcting form and modifying exercises to fit any exercise level. Even though it is a group setting, the personal attention you get from the trainers makes it feel like a one on one training session. I would highly recommend checking out Metrics Fitness Lab!

Metrics is a phenomenal work out, personal training in a small group setting. Ike takes time with everyone and makes certain form and technique are on point. I had spine surgery less than a year ago and I’m so happy to have Metrics to get me back in shape. If you are always watching the clock at the gym, you are in the wrong place, get to Metrics, you will NEVER look at the clock when you are here!

I felt supported and motivated during my entire work out at Metrics! From the minute I walked through the door, the staff was friendly and the environment was upbeat and CLEAN. The unique activity monitoring and point based system to track your workout was really entertaining to watch and pushed me to work out harder - I couldn't believe that in a mere hour my calorie burn count was almost 800! Ike is an outstanding trainer and modified every work out to best suit my body's strengths and weaknesses. Totally recommend!

Ike is motivational, trustworthy, & ultimately positive. I have a customized Personal Training Plan and actually feel that reliable results can be a reality! I have tirelessly attempted workout plans from several providers with negative results, if any. Given Ike’s impressive knowledge of the human anatomy, I have a plan to regain improved physical health, regardless of a longstanding injury. Motivation was never lacking: only the likelihood. So I have completed two sessions at Metrics and I love it. I love how they tailor the workouts to your ability push you to do your best and go at your own pace but don’t overwork you. In the beginning they help you perfect your form to ensure that you are getting the most benefit from the workout. The set up is different from any workout class group workout class I’ve ever done, but it works and it makes it so much fun and each class is different. I love how diverse the classes are as far as age wise. I love the fact that you can monitor your heart rate and calories burned during the work out so that you can see how hard or not so hard you need to work. The staff is so nice and helpful and they take the time to get to know you on a personal level. They also have nutrition programs for you to follow as well as a way to track your progress outside of the fitness lab! I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

I love working out at Metrics! The training is very personal and intense. They teach you proper technique and it's amazing how much a difference that makes. I can feel different muscles being activated with the correct form over what I normally do without supervision. They definitely know what they are doing! Before starting the classes, walking into and leaving work had become a very unpleasant chore!
So I started parking closer to the entrance...still unpleasant chore!
I was very disgusted and tried of the situation.
After one class at Metric Fitness Lab, (I kid you not, just one class!) I noticed a difference. My breathing was not so labored and I was not as tired, walking in and leaving work.
This is what I've been hoping for...
I'm a heavy person but he tailors the exercises to my ability with notable results!
Ike, you continue to live up to your reputation man, and I'm reaping the benefits!

I have been training with Metrics Fitness for a few months now and I have not turned back..... WHY?
Ike is focused on helping every one achieve their fitness goals and makes every session at Metrics challenging (& some how fun). My fitness has increased noticeably and I have seen improvements in my ability to complete more core exercise reps, lift progressively heavier weights, and generally push myself harder throughout each session.
I actually look forward to my workouts....
IMPORTANTLY:
- Ike assures that my techniques are always correct to avoid injuries.
-He knows how to motivate and encourage while understanding limitations
- tailors sessions to meet specific rehabilitation needs
- Ike clearly puts a lot of time into designing the sessions which are full of variety.

Metrics Fitness lab is by far the best place to go to get a great workout. The group sessions are small so you still get a lot of individual direction and there is no fear of judgement because everyone is doing something tailored specifically to their body ability and goals.
Ike is also extremely knowledgeable and patient. He not only explains how to do something but also shares why it is important to do something a certain way.
