As a member of Planet Fitness I was greatly disappointed as I walked into the gym not being greeted by a familiar face Coach Roach.I do not come to this gym just for the facilities,or staff ,I come because of the members.Its the members of this gym that makes this gym always being greeted or fist bumped by familiar faces.Coach Roach was not just a member he was a face of this gym.I have been going here for years .If at any time I needed help ,a question or just someone to guide me on a workout I did not go to staff I went to Coach Roach.I have watched him help many members rather it be on a workout ,how to use a machine , encouragement,and praising others with disabilities for putting in effort.Im so greatly disappointed in Planet Fitness decision regarding Coach Roach based on one disgruntled member.Planet Fitness should highly reconsider Coach Roach membership .Planet Fitness prides itself on a no judgment zone but you have let judgment of one person cost someone there membership.This will just create a platform for people with vindictive issues that they can file a complaint and cost someone there membership at any given moment.

The only reason I joined Planet Fitness was because of my brother, Ahmed Roach. However, after witnessing how unfairly he was treated and how a situation was handled without giving both sides a fair opportunity to be heard, I will be canceling my membership.

This experience has left a very negative impression. It’s disappointing to see a company that promotes inclusivity and respect act in a way that lacks fairness and professionalism. This situation was handled poorly, and I can no longer support a business that does not treat its members with the same level of respect and understanding it expects in return.

I have been a member of this gym for 3 years the environment and people who work out are the reason I come to the gym. My weight loss journey here has shaped and influenced many people but due to recent unforeseen circumstances I will no longer be a planet fitness member. One the most influential and kindest knowledgeable individuals was stripped of his membership after a complaint by one disgruntled individual. This is the same man that is seen daily assisting gym staff , helping people personally grow on their journey and influencing ppl to become members and not just come on a black card as a guest …… I’m a very disappointed as a planet fitness member

Up until today I have been a well respected well received member of planet fitness. I worked out there for many many many years but today they decided to cancel my membership. The reason behind this stemmed from a complaint lodged by another member that I was attempting to help.

They disregarded all the years that I have been a faithful client and simply took the word of this woman who clearly has personal issues and dismissed me. Not only was I a member I made it my business to go out of my way to do anything I could to help the club and not only the members of the club but also the employees.

The way they chose to repay my loyalty and kindness was by taking her word over mine and banishing me from the club. The people who work at the club didn’t make the final decision corporate did. I know people always say don’t pull the race card but in this instance i have no choice but to.

I am a helpful friendly black male who nobody other than this one woman has made a complaint against and they decide to take her word her side over mine in this particular situation. And she just so happens to be a Caucasian woman.

I submit this to you to think on. Think about the number of my ancestors that have been lynched for less. Based on a white womans word my ancestors were lynched and killed regularly. It’s sad to see that Planet Fitness’s corporate office is comfortable continuing that negative legacy.

I can’t tell you what to do, but I sincerely suggest you find a gym other than this one unless you are comfortable with supporting injustice and a legacy of prejudice.

I also neglected to mention on several occasions I stopped other individuals from bashing the club and encouraged them to go to the manager and try to settle their disputes before taking to social media and bashing the club. On one occasion I even acted as mediator between the individual who filed this claim against me and the club when she was displeased and on the verge of quitting the club.

None of this weighed into their decision though before they made their decision. Just another troublesome black man victimizing a white woman let them tell it. It’s cool, God has my back in the end. Be blessed planet fitness. For all those seeking to join just know, this is what loyalty looks like to them.

I canceled my membership and will not be returning!!! I started coming to this location because a friend. Being new in the gym I really need help to understand the machine and which workouts I needed. Ahmed Roach step in to help me and even started to make me feel more confident in the gym. This recent situation for the gym to end his membership was handled so poorly. I’m disgusted and disappointed. Grateful that I experienced a great gym bro while it lasted!

The work out was kool and the workout area was pretty decent. But there are some serious issues there.%50 of The napkin dispensers were empty. Then when I went in the men’s restroom/ locker room it was horrendous. Napkins were in the urinal, toilet paper on the floor and worst of all there was poop on the shower floor. I will never go back there! Really considering canceling my membership!

Gym is dirty, most the staff is rude, and some people act like it's a place to hangout instead of workout. People will be sitting on the desk hanging out. It's very unprofessional. The manager is also rude. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else trust me pay the extra at a good gym this is not one. It use to be when the staff was different.

I have been a long time member of this gym and I am highly appreciative of the new manager. She addresses all issues swiftly and places a great emphasis on ensuring the place is clean. I don’t normally write reviews but today I will be heard! I went in with good intentions only to come out pissed anddddd I got POLICE called on me. For over a year I had been charged a late fee for $10 every month. Being that I didnt have a primary payment source on file but there was secondary payment that was being pulled from to pay for my membership each month which I still don’t understand why I am receiving a late fee if the membership is AUTOMATICALLY PAID each month. This particular manager told me that she could ONLY refund me $20 for this month fees. I asked for corporates number or someone else to call in order to at least get some of the fees back. She advised me that she could not give me the number that I would have to look it up myself and also she was not obligated to give me her name as well give me information on who I could call that was over her. Her choice of words it what caused me to get rude and loud with her as well as call her what she was acting. I didn’t feel bad to saying what I said because being in a manager position being understanding of a situation instead of jumping to conclusions or even trying to reason with a customer is always the best thing to do. I didnt threaten her at all she just didn’t like my tone. She asked me to leave and when I didn’t she called the police 😂 for one all I asked was for her to do what she advised me she would do before she got smart and took actions in her own way not the company’s way. She banned me from this particular location but it a plenty more outside of this one!! All I want is what’s owed to me I’m basically making a donation without even attending each month, daily or weekly!! To whom ever is over this Bessemer location and manager she needs more training on how to handle people in general and also when you don’t know something find someone that does!!

I'm here now. I actually downgraded my membership since I can't bring my 12 year old anymore. She can't sit on the couch and wait anymore bc I was told by a woman manager here they couldn't let kids through the doors. Well, I'm here now and there's a 13 year old boy WORKING OUT. Using the equipment, listening to music. Having a great time. Maybe it's about race? You can't be white with a kid. Looks like I'll be going to Fitness 1440. Bessemer location is hands down the best PF location I’ve ever been to. Clean, spacious, and they’ve added so much new equipment. Tanning beds and massage chairs are a plus. Clean and spacious locker/shower rooms. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I wish this location was closer to my job so I could use this location more often.

I've had a good interaction with the employees. But if you don't show up between the work hours you will have a hard time getting on most workout equipment besides the treadmills. They have more treadmills than anything. So keep that in mind if you like using free weights because they get taken very fast!!!

I wrote my original review a year ago. My opinion has most definitely changed since Adrian left. The tanning rooms and booth areas have become disgusting. Exercise equipment, and the front desk area are fine. I’m a black card member so I pay for all the amenities. Having to look at nasty floors, tanning lotion all over the walls and bulbs out and not repaired in a timely manner as well as the actual floors inside the tanning booths being nasty, doesn’t make for a make for an overall good experience. There are times when the trash is running over. I’d be surprised if the health department didn’t give a terrible rating at this point. I’m considering canceling my membership and moving to the much closer and cleaner Fitness1440. Yes, I know it’s more expensive but cleanliness is important.
