I joined this gym because of convenience, it’s close to my home and my job. I started attending the classes included in my membership with Carlos Muhammad and was able to start reaching and surpassing my original fitness goals. He also Helped to build a fitness community that has been transformative in my life! Unfortunately Carlos is no longer with this location so I will be moving my membership to wherever he goes next! But I am thankful that I was able to meet him at that location. Too bad they let such an amazing trainer go.

The gym itself could use some more updated equipment. I started as a beginner and now I don’t feel as if I have room to grow here. The one thing I can say that truly helped me with my fitness journey is the trainer Carlos. His nutrition advice, HIIT, and functional strength classes helped me lose 30lbs and build so much muscle. I feel better, I look better, and I’m a lot stronger. Normal daily activities, such as carrying ALL my groceries up a flight of stairs in one trip, have become so much easier for me. I’ve recently heard that he’s no longer with Planet Fitness and that’s disheartening. I no longer have a reason to go there as I know many others who feel the same. They’ve lost a rare gem of a trainer and person.

This Planet Fitness was such a refreshing experience compared to other PFs I've visited in the past. Max, the manager, and Tina, the assistant manager, were so helpful, flexible, and willing to work with me on getting an extended visitor's pass while I was in town for two weeks. Not only do they greet you when you come in each day but they also remember your name, which is a rare experience. The atmosphere of the gym itself is very chill and their equipment wasn't outdated. Additionally, their facilities are as clean as one can expect a gym to be. Overall, 10/10 experience! You won't be disappointed becoming a member or visiting this location.

Well, I called a few months ago to cancel my membership, and they told me everything was fine. I went three months without being charged, and at the beginning of this month I was charged $49. I called to complain, and a lady said she would request a refund for me, which I have not received to this day.

Today I called again, and the manager informed me that they are not responsible for information given over the phone. In other words, they told me my membership had been canceled, then charged me even though I hadn’t used it for months (because I was told it was canceled), and then they charged $49 and refused to refund the amount because they claim that what is said over the phone doesn’t count for anything.

I've been a member off and on for years, been in multiple locations across the South and this location has probably been mediocre at best but due to location worked for me. There have been a couple things that I overlooked for the convenience of the location until today. I live about an hour and half away for work, this gym is close to my work so I get there around 6AM workout, shower and leave for work. Yesterday I walked into the shower area and the smell was overwhelming. I went to the shower I usually use only to find blood and clots on the floor as well as a pile of poop in the corner of the shower. I closed the shower curtians and pulled the wet floor sign in front of the shower in case someone came in to use it while I went to alert staff. I told the guy what was going on and he said he would tale care of it. When I went back today the shower was exactly the same, it was never cleaned. The pile of crap and blood clots still there even though I made the staff aware the day before. This was it for me. I have cancelled my membership today and starting a new gym tomorrow. If you can use the Vestavia Hills location. It is much cleaner and has better equipment.
Update: I will not be calling to speak with anyone, I addressed these concerns and they were not addressed. I dont feel the need to do it again. Thank you.

Was hoping to make this my new home gym, as I'm a black member of PF. I went in today with my husband, as he was going to be my guest, and he had the app on his phone. I had gotten a new phone and was struggling with the app installation. Caudell (sp?) turned us away because I didn't have the app on my phone due to the membership being in my name. I told him I had my driver's license and that didn't seem to matter to him. I did finally get the app on my phone on our drive back home. Custom service was 0/10 stars. I hope others do not have the same ridiculous experience as my husband and I just had.

Cadell? The guy up front was very rude. This is not my home gym, but even as a black card member he would not let me bring a guest (my wife) without her downloading the app even though I had already scanned in. He was incredibly rude for no reason.
I will never return to this location and I am seriously considering changing gyms altogether

This place has it all! Cheerful and encouraging staff, great equipment, and a great personal trainer! It’s a great place to workout regardless if you are a beginner or an athlete. It truly is different from any other gym I have ever been to, no judgment, no one looking at you like you shouldn’t be there, only encouragement and teaching you what routine is best for the goals you are trying to achieve. 10/10 recommend!

I enjoy being a member at PF. The no judgment policy makes it easy for me to start back whenever I slack off and it makes drop in easy. I stay about 30 minutes, in and out.
I like the Excellent and competent staff; many different training equipments to meet the needs of customers; the opening and closing schedule; the reasonable price, especially when paying for a dedicated gym; the cleanliness and the "no judgment here" policy and the option to step it up a notch in the Black Card membership. If you are not in a gym or exercising regularly, consider giving PF a try.

I've seen the trainer at my home club (Crestline and I don't even know his name) and he's not engaging or very friendly!! If I could say anything about this gym is that it has been an amazing experience to be here and I am very pleased to have gotten to meet so many great people here and make memories and grow in my fitness journey here along the time of being at this gym. Hey Planet Fitness now that the Covid shutdowns have been over for a hot minute, are there any plans to return back to being open 24 hours?

Because as it stands right now all of us members are paying rates for 24 hours access, but you’re only staying open 12 hours a day now.

If you’re not going to go back to being open 24 hours, any chance of cutting the membership price?

Some of us, our work schedules make it hard to get full use out of our membership Ms with y’all still sticking to your Covid hours.

The air quality at this pf isn't the greatest which is something im big on. Usually there's a sink in the largest toilet room which isn't the case.

The toilet should not be in front the door but to the side or middle closer to where you can put your stuff.

We shall see if I last working out in this one because the ones that don't have the best air quality i usually leave early and go to another one.

Absolutely a great place to workout. Staff are always welcoming and available to help you in any way. The manager, Max, is wonderful. After my Total Knee Replacement he helped me in reinstating my membership. Facility is always clean and equipment is up to date and always working. I love that we have access to a personal trainer who is very knowledgeable and assist you in achieving your fitness goals. I love the POD and water massage chair. Using these makes for a great end to a workout. I love this Planet Fitness Facility in Hoover, AL on highway 31.

Travel a lot & visit many PFs, probablyover a 100 by now. This one is smaller/older but a great place to get a lift in. Courteous upon entering. Nice presentation hp front. Restrooms/lockers clean. All sanitary. Machines all in working condition. Enjoyed the analog clock with light up second counter on it. One of the better ones I have visited. No complaints.

Not very sanitary, safe or hygienic. Allows people to have shirts off, stomachs, backs, butts whatever exposed and sweating directly on equipment without at least a barrier of a shirt or proper gym attire. Also allows people to go barefoot, flip flops, crocs and house shoes. Not a comfortable atmosphere for everyone due to allowing clothing that’s excessively revealing or provocative and not appropriate in a gym setting. Not respectful of others.

I was a long-time member of this gym and loved it until I realized I was supporting a business that doesn't protect women's rights concerning bathroom and shower privacy. Their bathroom policies are unfair and unsafe. Men can literally walk right into the women's restroom, and no one says a thing about it. This is too far! Their policies make it obvious women born with wombs are not respected or considered. I'm very upset, disturbed, and disappointed by this. The only choice they gave me was to cancel my membership. Wow.

So, I was charged $49.99 just this morning for an annual fee with the gym I haven't used in over a year. I called to cancel this membership since I'm traveling out of state. Max, the Mgr there at the Riverchase Hoover location informed me that I'm just out the $50 for a membership fee for the next year even though I don't have a membership there anymore... it's impossible to refund me my $$. I didn't get any type or form of renewal notice from Planet Fitness prior to their taking $$ out of my bank account. Max says I was notified over a year ago at sign up and I suppose I was supposed to remember the draft date in my head. They don't send out billing notices. Plant Fitness just ripped me off and smiled while doing it!!! Disgusted with PF and would never recommend to anyone based on their business practices!! They WILL rip you off and are non negotiable on any issue!!

Make sure to "read the fine print"... sure, 24.99 is a great price until then you also get hit a 50.00 charge as an "annual" charge. I've only been a member for 3 months. Also I signed up when they had the 1$ promo, but I was ALSO charged for that month as well. I never received my 1$ month. So within 3 months I've now paid $100.00 . Will be canceling my membership and going to 24 E bc planet fitness weekend hours are terrible and 24E prices are better, they also have better tanning beds and open 24 hrs.

They have GREAT stand up tan booths and the bulbs are changed regularly. It's always clean from the entrance to the bathrooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. I always see the same faces when I go there so they know you when you walk in. There's always equipment available. It was a lifesaver when my air was out for 6 days and I needed to shower and get ready for work in a cool environment. Totally worth the $25 a month!

I travel for work and I count on my Planet Fitness black card to keep me accountable for exercising. I work out every day and have for 7 years. My contract brought me to Hoover Alabama and I was very disappointed. The stair climber stopped on me twice due to “console emergency button engaged” same reason each time . I never touched an emergency button! I unplugged it waited 20 sec plugged in again and the same message popped up. I went to each emergency stop and put it on and off and that didn’t work either. By this time my heart rate was back down to normal which frustrated me more. I only have 35 min to get in a workout and for today it was ruined. I went the front desk and the guys were super nice and cool! The guy tried the same on/off thing and it didn’t work. The stepper beside me was broken and a member was on the only other one I knew of. The guy up front then let me know there were more on the other side. Remember I’m new here. If I knew that I could have hopped on one as soon as the others one stopped and saved my workout. Well I had to go. I got in half a workout today. Please go through the gym and fix the broken machines. Some of us really depend on Planet Fitness to keep anxiety down and to help our work day go better. Oh and for our cardio workout daily. Thank you for listening.

I had to cancel my membership because I moved and no longer live near a planet fitness. Because I am hours from my "home club" I was told that if I came in person before my billing date on the 17th, they would waive the cancellation fees and next month's charge (even if the billing process had already started, they could do an override in the computer). I cancelled on the 16th, got email confirmation, and was told that all charges were waived and I no longer owed anything else. On the 17th, my card was charged for another month's membership. When I called to inquire, the man I spoke with was extremely rude and continued to talk over me throughout the entire conversation. I couldn't even get my phone number out without him speaking over me - that in itself took about 5 tries. I wish I knew his name, but I never got the chance to ask between all his mansplaining and disrespectful tone. Needless to say the conversation was unproductive, and I just gave up and accepted the charges. This is the worst customer service I've had in a very long time, and I truly hope they don't make a habit of false promises to customers.

I've visited a few of the Planet Fitness locations around Birmingham and so far, I like this one the best! The locker rooms were so clean. Everything felt very open and well-placed, except for maybe the water fountain. I had to hunt for it and eventually asked someone where it was. Overall 10/10, would recommend!
