I didn’t think I’d ever waste time writing a review for Planet Fitness — I figured everyone already knew what this place was. It’s not a gym; it’s a money-laundering operation wrapped in purple paint and pizza nights. A business model built entirely around people too lazy to cancel their $25 membership. You know it, I know it, the owner definitely knows it.

But today took “Planet Fitness logic” to a whole new level of ridiculous.

I rode my bicycle almost 10 miles from my house to my real gym (you know, the kind with barbells, sweat, and actual effort). After training, I rode another 4 miles downtown, grabbed a protein burger, cruised around the lake, and on the way home I figured I’d stop at Planet Fitness to use their hydro massage chairs — one of the few things they do have going for them.

Here’s where it gets stupid.

There’s no bike rack out front — not a single post or place to secure a bicycle. So, rather than risk leaving my $1,500 Trek sitting unlocked on the sidewalk, I politely wheeled it just inside the door, tucked neatly off to the side, not blocking a soul.

The staff were fine, doing their best, but then here comes the manager — chest puffed, ego first — to tell me, “We don’t allow bikes inside.” I asked if there was anywhere outside to lock it. He said no, but that’s just “policy.” Translation: We don’t care about members who actually move their bodies or burn calories.

You’d think a place literally called Planet Fitness would be excited to see someone cycling almost 15 miles just to squeeze in more training. But no — not this location. The manager was more concerned about following a made-up policy than using common sense or basic customer service.

I’ve been to dozens of gyms across the country — real gyms. Every single one of them has either bike racks or managers who actually think. I’ve had smaller gyms literally clear a space for cyclists to stash their bikes. That’s what a fitness-minded business does.

Meanwhile, this franchise owner is clearly just here for the money grab. Dirty equipment, broken machines, and a manager enforcing useless rules instead of creating a welcoming atmosphere for actual athletes. The irony is painful — a “judgment-free zone” that constantly proves it’s allergic to effort and common sense.

If you’re looking for a gym that celebrates mediocrity, this is your paradise. If you actually care about fitness, sweat, and self-respect, go literally anywhere else.

I’ll keep my membership just for travel convenience, but let’s call it what it is: Planet Fitness isn’t a gym — it’s a $25 donation to corporate laziness.

I called before I came and a lady named Kayla answered the phone and made my day, she was very knowledgeable about Planet Fitness and their rates. She didn't seem to be in a rush to just get off the phone which really made my call a welcome and I really appreciate her for that. An employee anomy company would consider a valuable asset. Ive had nothing but tremendous experiences with both people working out there but also working at this place. So much so in fact I decided to get a blackcard membership just so I could take advantage of all the great amenities they offer at this location. But unfortunately due to their inconsistency with following procedures i was blindsided by such an insignificant one. On September 16 around 915pm Jeff and his assistant manager were so adamant about me not having my bicycle inside. I offered everyway I could to negotiate something but there was no budging on their end. I get following policy but man ive been coming there for a week straight and never any issues. But due to this inconvenience on their behalf. I will be canceling my blackcard membership and going to power house where they allow me to store my bike inside.

Nothing quiches your thirst during a hard work out like HOT WATER from the water fountain. For a while the water fountain was out of order and now we just get hot water. And I know I’m just gonna get an automated response from planet fitness after posting this about bringing these matters up to the staff… And let me tell you I have plenty of times. Still hot water.

Today, 8/26 I was told that the hydromassages were again not working. Despite that yesterday and Sunday they were working as I was on them. The inconsistency or whether the hydromassages work or not is ridiculous. I pay for a black card membership so I can recover after a workout with the hydromassage. However, they never seem to work. No one has reached out with the last two complaints I have filed. If I don't hear something this time I will cancel my membership. This is horrible customer service and a waste of my money.

Went in on a free day pass, as I am looking for a gym to become a member at, the free day pass on the app says bring photo i.d to prove who I was, it also says I would be given a tour the facility. The man behind the counter just scanned my app and let me go about my way. Its pretty self explanatory, but it would've been nice for some more interaction. Overall nice place, people respected cleaning equipment after use, which was nice.

They finally got new abduction machines +1 star. Only one of each but I'll take it!

Gym is great but they recently changed some of their machines. A lot of the new machines are great, but they removed their abduction and preacher curl machines, unless I am just unable to find them after they were moved.

Whoever chose the new machines layout did a horrible job. Machines that have duplicates like the seated leg curls are now in two separate locations instead of being in the same area, it's weird and you have to walk across the gym to see if the either machine is occupied. Some areas of the gym now have a lot of space while some areas have the machines shoved right up next to each other.

The staff that work here are always amazing. They are very polite and even though it's not necessary, when you walk up to the desk to scan in, they always go in full sprint across the gym to kindly hold the scanner up for you.

Love this gym but the apparent loss of the abduction and preacher machines sucks because there is literally so much empty space for them.

This gym has the dirtiest tanning beds and equipment I have ever seen. Do better! You can’t rely on your members to keep the tanning beds and massage beds and chairs clean -because some
people just don’t do the right thing. Hire employees who show up for work! Too many times I showed up to nobody even working. Utilize your employees to actually clean instead of playing on their phones all day. Mr. Jackson is the only exception, he is always contributing to keeping the club clean when I see him there unfortunately he can't do it alone, it takes a team effort. I am sure the health department would not approve of the conditions of this club!!

I ended my membership by physically going in and signing electronically to cancel it, two years later I'm still being charged for it. I have reached out to this location three different times regarding this matter and also sent my bank statements for proof. Almost 6 months later since they told me my refund was processed and I have yet to receive the money. I recently had an experience and some of the staff members were rude, and was giving me a hard time. Per policy If you are going to follow the rules, do it ALL the time. I usually come to this location and work out with my friend. I just hadn't been in a while due to health complications and death in the family. I don't know all of the rules of planet fitness and was happy that my friend wanted an accountability partner to work out with her. This is beneficial for both of us! Because of our hectic schedules, Sometimes I would go without her being that she has a black card. The only thing she used to do was unlock it for me and they would let me work out. Not one time have they ever corrected the situation until now saying that she must be present with me- The whole time I'm thinking it's fine. This location has allowed me on several occasions and for several weeks to come in. From "Managers" to other staff members I can name exactly who allowed such thing. I don't forget faces because when we first start going they were very kind! I guess because we were coming on a consistent basis; they would just let me come without my friend as well. Roll the cameras back and see! Furthermore, I have no desire to even talk to anyone else about this matter after this review. I'm not here for a sob story, but I did recently lose my biological father. Grief is tricky and I'm learning how to cope in healthy ways. I just wanted this opportunity to occupy my mind in a way by exercising. Where was the compassion, thoughtfulness or consideration of staff after telling them about my situation-(Not available) That's okay because I googled other options and saw where I could get a free day pass with my email or put $1 down for black card access & continuation monthly at regular price. I chose the free day pass. An African American shorter young lady, darker tone after telling me I had to pay for a $5 pass, check me in with my free pass. Of course she felt some kind of way because when I got on the treadmill she was acting immature, talking amongst her peer looking at me and laughing. This is the same young lady who turned a homeless man away from showering there. In the past, He has always showered there and it was never an issue. Not even other options or information on what I could do instead was given. I could tell she didn't have a heart for customer service. In spite of how everything went on, I kept it professional and put my earbuds in because I don't deal well with childish people! After being told that I was only able to use the equipment on the ground, I left shortly after my workout on the treadmill. It does not cost anything to be kind to people. Just what if this one opportunity/outlet that was something that could have impacted me in a positive way mentally, emotionally, and physically? Mental health is serious! But, I'm glad that I have God and a community to lean on in times such as this as well! Be careful how you treat people and who you put your mouth on! I will definitely be back due to the convenience in location. I could care less if anyone looks at me sideways, treat me ill or be immature again! There are more important things that deserve my attention. Don't bend the rules moving forward whenever you feel like it. Be more informative as well & train your employees better with information and how to treat people!

It’s a planet Fitness…. Just a very crowded one lol I was able to work out but had to get use to being elbow to elbow with people which is fine. Just knowing the location and it being 24 hours is understandable. The smith machines are usually taken up but if one gets free jump in there. Jasmine is extremely rude I have problems with her every single time I have an interaction with her. She has the worst attitude always. I asked to tan in number 7 lay down full time she says “I got you on number 9” I said “is 7 not available” she says “no it’s down” I said “ok can I do 6 please” she says “I already started number 9 for you” I said “I don’t like #9 it doesn’t work as well for me as 6 & 7” and if one of those are available I’d like to use one I pay monthly for a black card and I literally only come to tan. I've been frequenting Planet Fitness on University Drive for quite a few months now, and I really, really love it. It is centrally located, clean and spacious, with quite a large number and variety of weight machines and other equipment to choose from. And, the fact that it is open 24/7 is a real plus for me!

In addition to the equipment, it has quite a large number of HDTV screens with a number of viewing options for us. So, if you've got a long workout on the treadmill, stair step machine, or exercise bike, they can help you pass the time.

Moreover, they've got showers, lockers, drinks, snacks, etc.

You can start with a standard membership or upgrade to the Black Card membership, which has a number of additional perks.

Furthermore, I appreciate the assistance that I've received from various staff there, including: Antonio, William, D., Jay, and several others.

All in all, I'm currently very pleased with my experiences at Planet Fitness on University Drive in Huntsville, Alabama.

I've really enjoyed coming to this gym since last summer. But today I was stopped by a newer associate who told me that the Crocs I was wearing are now prohibited because they're thought of as sandals. I'm confused about this because Planet Fitness literally advertises Crocs in their perks discounts. How are you going to prohibit footwear that you promote? It seems backwards. There are plenty of regular gym goers who were Crocs for their comfort and the flatness of the shoe is good for people who like to deadlift and squat barefoot.

I know this associate was just doing her job, but it still made me feel uncomfortable and singled out. I think the gym should reconsider this new policy. You can do a quick search on social media and see plenty of other people who love wearing Crocs to the gym for some of reasons I do. And with the band on the back of them and the fact that they are mostly a closed shoe it shouldn't really be a problem. Plus I've always worn them with socks.

Now I'm considering finding a new gym that allows me to wear my shoes that I prefer. I bought new Crocs recently and they are specifically for the gym. I don't really wear them anywhere else. Now I feel like I've wasted money

Nightly associates just stand at the desk socializing with friends instead of working or helping guest. They never use the lunk alarm when loud grunting or weights are dropped. You just always feel you’re being judged . Very uncomfortable atmosphere. Can definitely tell it’s not ran by Robin and is now ran by a man .

Great facilities and usually pretty clean. People at the check in desk are not as personable as other locations but they weren’t unfriendly. They were talking amongst each other and not really paying attention to the guests checking in. Not really a big deal to me.
