Had issues with manager a lil less than a year ago. Planet fitness was charging me every month to work out there, for a year or so I could go in and if anyone hassled me about checking in I’d tell them go head and look me up. No problems at all.

Til I came in one day and this guy tries to tell me I can’t work out unless I download the app. I told him everyone just looks me up, never had any problems otherwise. He tried to tell me I had to download an app. I wish I’d told him go head and call the police and I’ll show them yall draw from my account monthly and he wouldn’t do it

I told him go head and cancel my membership cuz I’m not putting more space on my phone when yall already take money from me every month. He cancelled it and he asked me a couple times why I wouldn’t download the app. I told him just cancel it, planet fitness is supposed to be the more relaxed fitness place, he could look up my membership to cancel it but he couldn’t look it up to let me in his gym.

I wish that a more welcoming gym would open up closer to me but for now i will stick with a competitor that is further away. I bet that manager drove a lot of app signups that made the store look better but I bet he lost a lot of good folks in the process.

Always a pleasant experience here. The equipment is always clean and working. Staff is very polite and personable. Edit: Still frustrated at the lack of basics, and the music choice is sometimes terrible and crass, but the gym has really grown on me. Good place.

Generally a frustrating experience. No scale, no bar for unassisted deadlift or bench press, I got in trouble for wearing jeans because I forgot my workout clothes one day. The spa rooms have a constant industrial alarm going off.

I just want the basics to get a good workout, and it feels like Planet Fitness is trying to get in the way of that. Add on top of that the generally frustrating contract terms, the limited weekend access, and the requirement to have a phone to access the gym, and it's just a mess.

Customer service is excellent and the primary redeeming Factor when compared to other large gyms.

If there were any other large gym in South Huntsville I would definitely go there.

I have only ever been to one gym and that was over 20 years ago so although I don't have much to compare it to, I can say I love this gym. I have been going 3 days a week since Oct 2024 and I've never had a bad or negative experience in any way. I enjoy the atmosphere and the people are always nice. Truly not a judgey place at all.

The manager Steven made it difficult and impossible to cancel or even freeze my account so I can catch up on my outstanding balance. I had fees waived before when I was a member many years ago so I know it’s possible but he won’t waive not one late fee. Also I tried to cancel or freeze before at this location and the employee told me to come back another time because she didn’t know how to. I told Steven this and he said there’s no note in the system, I guess implying I’m lying . I’m trying to get my account up and running and he just will not work with me and even said his boss I could talk to but he will also say no lol I called my other location and they were willing to work with me, very nice and not condescending either. Not sure what his deal was, is but if a customer for quite sometime is having a hard time paying but still wants to, I think it would be great customer service like to give them better options besides “ let them shut your account down, then you won’t owe, it’ll go on your credit”. Gave me a number to call for assistance but it was a third party number for payment, so I guess he was trying to be funny? I guess it’s personal, I owe him lol Oh, I signed a contract, yes but as a manager myself before, we aim to make the loyal customer happy, there’s def ways to work with your customers .

I have contacted them multiple times to cancel my account and they have not done it. They’ve charged me for 2 years when I didn’t live there anymore. I requested a cancellation in person before leaving and they didn’t cancel. I’ve sent letters and made calls and nothing. Because they log your account number and routing you can’t stop their charges. They charged me for two years. I’ve reached out to them asking for a refund request and have never heard back.

I use to love this gym but they go deaf when you want to cancel.

I cancelled my membership yesterday and the girls there were both very helpful and nice, this is nothing towards them. I was told that I would owe nothing and that is also reflected on the paperwork I signed. I check my bank account today only to see a $50 charge pending on my account from them. My mom, who also cancelled her's with me, is in the same boat and called only to be told that the girls told us wrong. I don't know how the paperwork I SIGNED is wrong. They cannot change anything after I sign. It says $0 and I did not authorize any other charges. This is outrageous and I will be sure to let everyone know not to use Planet Fitness.

DO NOT go to this gym unless you want someone creeping on you and taking pictures. I brought my girlfriend and her sister to this gym and during our visit there was an individual taking pictures of girls (some underage) while they were working out in the yoga area. All staff did was escort him out. No apologies from staff for this incident and their attempted solution. This is not the first time this has happened.

If you are looking for a place to watch people sit on workout equipment and play on their phones, this is the place for you. Don’t even think about mentioning the issue to the so-called management.

Eric, the “manager,” has admitted that he has no recourse for people who abuse the opportunity for its other members who come to take advantage of the equipment designed for exercise instead of being used as a park bench. Then again when he spends most of his time in his office with the door closed I guess out of sight out of mind so what difference does it make? Exactly what is being managed from behind that closed door? It sure isn’t the floor of the gym.

I will never go back to this gym. Me and my friend go to planet fitness daily to tan, use red lights, massage and workout we use all the amenities because we both pay for a black card membership. We had an issue a couple of weeks ago, an employee told my friend that she was “banned for breaking equipment” and then couldn’t explain to us what it was even about. We have never broken ANYTHING in any planet fitness why would we want to destroy something that we pay to have access to? Then we got that settled by talking to a manager he said there was NOTHING in the system on either of our profiles about that so we couldn’t help but think it was made up. So about a week and a half goes by still going daily sometimes twice a day, then this morning we walk in and again they say they are not going to let her in because they’re falsely accusing her of urinating and defecating on the floor in the bathroom… come on now… she’s an 18 year old girl and the majority of the members that go to the south parkway location are senior citizens, it is much more likely for an elderly woman to be having accidents than an 18 year old. They say they have “evidence” that it’s her because they have footage of her leaving the bathroom around the same time they found it but there was also more than just us two in the bathroom we were rarely ever if not never in the Locker room alone meaning without other strangers not just us two so I think that the “evidence” they say they have on her is no where near enough to accuse her of doing that. And let me just be clear neither me or Haley Sorrells have EVER urinated or defecated ANYWHERE but into the toilet we don’t have accidents. I think it’s extremely rude of the south parkway managers to accuse her of that and ban her with little to no evidence, and mind you she’s ONLY banned from the south parkway location she can still go to north and Madison and any other planet fitness she chooses. The manager at one store shouldn’t have the right to ban her from just that specific store unless he is the store owner and I highly doubt he is.

This is my favorite of all the Planet Fitness locations around Huntsville. It's clean, not super packed, and the front desk people are nice and seem to remember me. Good selection of exercise machines.
The only complaints I have is the music is a little loud, and people sit in the mens locker room after changing, playing on their phones. I'm uncomfortable with this. Change and get out, it's not a lounge.

Plainly put, this gym has almost everything that you could ask for. It offers a diverse set of equipment and amenities for the price. The staff is good-natured and maintains a respectful level of upkeep. However, the gym is not perfect. There seems to be a trend of theft, not only of gym equipment but also of members' personal belongings. To my knowledge, no measures have been put in place to address this long-term and serious problem.

Additionally, the gym has recently cut back on its hours, going from 24/7 to opening at 7 am and closing at 9 pm on weekdays and 7 pm on weekends. This change not only affects late-night gym-goers but also those who go to the gym before work. Members who go in the morning usually do so because they have no other time available. This change also increases the number of members in the gym at one time, which was already a problem. Now, members who used to go late at night or early in the morning are coming during different times of the day, further increasing the crowd.

6/10 for an avid gym goer.

8/10 for the average person.

I was robbed at this location wallet money and ID cards all gone. My things were taken from the men’s locker when I went to speak to management followed him out of the locker and He began getting irate. I’m not sure what his title is Omar Omma something to that effect. Will not be back, I was humiliated and stolen from and paid to be treated that way. I have been a customer for over 10 years.

I was in the parking lot minding my business. I may have been there about an hour and a half pumping myself up. I have a black card membership. I have to wind down after work Before working out, I had taken my pre-workout and was giving it time to kick in. I get a knock on my window, it’s an employee that looks like a boy may possibly be a girl. She tells me I’m not allowed to sit in the parking lot. I’m not allowed to sit until I’m ready to come in? Update SO because I complained about my Apple AirPods being stolen. They decided they wanted to trespass me a week later instead of assisting, with the entire thing being recorded where I never got out of hand. I wasn’t rude to anybody I simply said hey where is my stuff? And then ask him to make a report…left my information and carried on as if nothing happened.
I tried to speak with Eric, the general manager, to show him the videos, and he refused to look at it. Eric also refused to give me the name of anyone who was actually over him .
I was discriminated against for sitting in my car waiting for my blood sugar to come back up. I would thousand percent do not recommend this location.

Going to the gym around 1145 or 23:45 Thursday June 20th.
I had only Intended on, showering, and possibly working out a little later as well as using the tanning bed. I travel for work. I keep a locker for my things at my gym as I’ll be on the road when swinging by.
I have a video of the individual working there tonight, threatening me because I ask what happened to my Apple AirPods that were stolen from my locker. The individual and another female are on camera with my lock and he blows up on me and begins degrading me verbally questioning my mental health and accusing me of being all over the place. I calmly gathered my things after requesting a new lock as a replacement, but then feeling like I was the problem and not being safe in my personal affects decided it best to leave.

I realized my $260 Apple AirPods were missing and tried to give him my information so that when I made the report for insurance, it would be covered.
He refused, and I had to write it down myself the employee started, hollering lay it on the table, lay it on the table and videotaping me. To which I simply laid the information down and left the gym missing 260$ property. Why I had to leave the gym is beyond me because it was not my behavior that caused the issue… I left the gym because I felt threatened by their employee

It is a great gym. Clean, rarely crowded and nearly new equipment. The membership fees are manageable too. That was one of my issues coming to Huntsville from another State. We had a plethora of "cheap" gyms to choose from, none of which cost more than $10 per month to join. The only other gyms in the area that I could find cost above $100 per month, which seemed exceptionally expensive. So, finding PF was a great alternative. Plus, they're black card benefits are great too.

UPDATE 3/2023 - They have hired a bunch of new staff over the last two or three months... But I wouldn't say that's been an improvement. It's not as clean as it used to be, they often fill their spray bottles with water instead of disinfectant, and it takes them a very long time to fix equipment when it breaks.

Also they need to police the 30-minute circuit section better... At least more signs up... They could put one on each machine without it impacting the workout and it be where people can see. Just something letting people know that it is not for multiple sets, but for quick circuit training sessions and to use the other floor equipment for their multiple set exercises.

I have had problems with the same manager when he was at the madison location. At madison he constantly bagered me about not checking in with the app on my phone. No other planet fitness anywhere hassled me about using my key scan or my phone number. I know longer saw him in madison and was like thank God. Today on the south parkway branch, he is there and doesn't let me work out because of the pants I'm wearing. I have worn these pants countless times before without incident. This guy likes to harass customers over nothing. I was really hoping that I would never see him again because I almost canceled my membership due to the way he acted in madison. I'll definitely stay away from South parkway permanently. Harassment should not be allowed and it has always been him. No one else has treated me this way.

It should be called Treadmill City lol. There's like 100 of them things. And like 50 ellipticals. Great place to get some cardio in. They do have several different lifting machines but not a single power rack or traditional bench press. It does make it safer because some people would likely get hurt otherwise.
They do have a few smith machines, and it's a great value for the money. Lockers, showers, it's a great fitness place but not as much on bodybuilding. People were friendly and mainly quiet

It is nice and clean. One of the nicer Planet Fitnesses I've been to. The people are nice enough. The equipment is updated, functioning, and clean. I just forget how much the company annoys me and every year or two I rejoin. Only to be disappointed and then leave again.
