I moved and tried to transfer my home club to my new city, however the new club said I'd need my previous club to do so. When I contacted the previous club, they told me the new club had to transfer me. A different employee at the new club said he would handle it, but apparently never did so.

At some point, my annual fee was never taken out of my account or three monthly payments, which was always odd to me because I wasn't notified for months and other monthly fees were always charged.

A year later, I decided to cancel because my new club had stopped letting me in as I was never transferred over to their club in the system despite being told I was.

I went to pay off the fees and cancel, as it totaled out to $79. No big deal. The first two times the website said the payment and cancellation did not go through, the third time it worked. The charges went from pending to completed the next morning-- all three. So that's $79 taken out for one cancellation three times.

I am giving the Tuscaloosa McFarland location one star however because despite explaining this situation, the employee on the phone with me insisted the charges on my bank account that she had no possibility of seeing were pending and would drop off, as only one payment was cleared. She also made note to try and insist that my "history of nonpayment" was the reason for the complications, despite me telling her that I was unable to get assistance in person with the new location or over the phone with this one.

This employee I spoke with was incredibly rude and demeaning, and I'm amazed that a phonecall about me asking if I went to dispute the charges on my bank account would that be an issue regarding the cancellation or if they'd be able to reverse two of the three charges on their end led to her talking to me like I was an idiot that didn't know the difference between "pending" and "completed".

Terrible front desk staff with terrible attitudes. PSA: Insurance is not free. $500+/month + an additional $20/month subscription is apparently "free" now and they will give you attitude for just trying to redeem a gym membership included in your benefits. If there were other gyms in my area I would spare myself the aggravation.

This was my first time visiting the Midtown location. They really need to have something to drop down & cover the windows at least half way since the suns shines through . Only 1 TV was on & they needed to have the air on in there. No music was playing either.

This company is money hungry and deceitful. I went in person and was adamant on cancelling my account. I have a home gym, and made it very clear I did not want to be charged anymore. I was told instead to freeze my account. NEVER was I told this freeze would one day unfreeze and I would continue being charged. They should’ve just cancelled it like I asked them to do in the first place. Claimed I signed a document agreeing to those terms, I never signed anything when I was trying to cancel. Now I’m being told there’s “no way to get my money back” when I know that isn’t true. It’s ridiculous. They know what they are doing when they do this. It is bad business and I see several others have to deal with the same. This is on PF, not me. I will not be recommending planet fitness to anyone from here on out.

This is a great Planet Fitness location. The staff are diligent about keeping the club clean and safe. It is well-ventilated and the temperature is comfortable. Also, it never seems too crowded and everyone seems super friendly.

Incompetent staff that lied to me about getting charged after canceling my membership.
Asked the staff when I needed to cancel my membership to avoid any more fees. They said the 10th of next billing month. Well I canceled on the 30th before just in case and asked again if I would be charged anything else. Nope. Literally the next day I get charged the $40 annual fee because I didn’t cancel by the 25th the month before (it was in the fine print of the agreement so it cannot be refunded) even though I specifically asked the staff and they conveniently lied to me about it when I asked about it before the 25th.
Overall very unhappy about the situation and the manager did nothing except apologize for lying employees. Paid $50 in total for a month and a half of membership. Highly DO NOT recommend using planet fitness if you care about honest employees in regards to billing.

Probably the smallest PF I’ve been in but also one of the cleanest...top 5! Employees were very friendly, and were always cleaning when not helping someone at the counter. Several even spent a good 30 minutes helping a lady who lost a bracelet find it. Locker room & showers were small but clean & very hot water! Be careful! Good place to call your home gym!

The staff here are wonderful. Derek is an extremely knowledgeable trainer, and he goes out of his way to help and encourage you. He remembers all of his clients’ goals and really goes the extra mile to make sure they have the help and resources they need to succeed. He’s great about showing us proper techniques and new exercises. My husband and I have been working out there for years, and we feel like we have a fitness coach and support network with Derek and the rest of the staff. I've been a member of this Planet Fitness since March 2018. My experience has always been pleasant. The employees are very friendly, helpful, and are constantly cleaning (which gives me peace of mind). Today, however, my expectations were exceeded.

This PF just completed renovations and upgrades less than a week ago. It was my first time seeing the new digs, so I wanted to take a picture of the new equipment. After getting my shot, I was approached by a gentleman in workout gear. He asked if I was taking pictures, and I said yes, I wanted to show my friends the new space. He made me aware that taking photos of any kind in Planet Fitness is against policy. I had totally forgotten about this rule, and immediately apologized and deleted the pictures. He introduced himself as Chris, the general manager. I felt so guilty about breaking a very important rule, and that guilt could clearly be seen in my facial expression.

5 minutes later, as I was getting started on the elliptical, Chris came up to me with a Planet Fitness gym bag full of PF swag. He apologized, and was worried he came off too aggressive to me (which he didn't whatsoever), and wanted to make sure there were no hard feelings.

The professionalism and kindness I experienced today from the general manager has stuck with me since. The least I could do is recommend this Planet Fitness to anyone in the Tuscaloosa area looking for a clean, newly-renovated gym.

I love working out 🏋 at planet fitness, but I just hate that they close too early during certain days, especially on a Saturday. I just feel like that's not good to close at 7 o'clock on a Saturday. People are spending their money faithfully every month. Planet fitness should at least stay open until midnight or by 10pm. They have a lot of customers, that are faithfully dedicated to working out and be too busy at work at different times of the day and need to get a good workout in, later on during the evening...but can't when you all close to early. Please put customers first in that area planet fitness. Like I said, I love working out there..but room for improvement, is defiantly needed
