The gym itself is very nice and the staff very helpful, except in one area. Members should be told up front their contract will be automatically renewed at the end of the contract. I have wasted 6 months gym time because my contract had "ended." Communication is not very good.

WARNING!!!! Absolutely do not sign a contract with these people. They do NOT handle their records properly at all! I had a memebership with them way back in 2008-2009. I moved moved to a new city where they didn't have a club when I got promotion. I gave them all the proper documentation that I needed to show I was moving and they said my account was canceled. Now almost 10 years later they have sent my account to collections saying I owe them a wooping $1800!!!! Totally poor customer service when I called to try and resolve this, simply saying they didn't have my records on file anymore and I would have to deal with a collection agency.... WARNING NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CLUB!!

I had the absolute worst experience ever there today. I went in to cancel my membership and things went left badly. Very unprofessional behavior from the owner's wife. The lack of respect for the customer and lack of self control was unbelievable. Find a place that respects its members. Don't be like me. Read the online reviews before signing a contract.

Highly recommend Riviera Fitness Center. Whether you're in town for a week like I was or a local and can commit to this place full time. A lot of great equipment and free weights and fantastic people. Local gym with a local feel and they take care of the military. Didn't pay a penny to workout there every day I was in town. Can't say enough good things about RFC.

A gym is more than just equipment, it's community and Riviera Fitness is like a family! The group fitness classes are an awesome workout - way better than just strolling on a treadmill. The instructors are top-notch, motivating and encouraging. And the GRIT class has gotten me the kind of results I have been wanting in just a short time! Best gym I have ever been a part of!

Wonderful staff, many machine options, instructors for classes are always motivating and kind, all for a good price. I've looked around at all the gyms in Huntsville, and this is definitely one of the better option

I wrote management about the building and other issues. Instead of fixing the issue, they revoked my gym membership please read the the following and do not go to this gym
I received your email in regards to your complaints about my Huntsville facility...
I appreciate your feedback. I take every email, positive or negative, into consideration. I'll have to tell you that I disagree whole heartedly with your all of your statements...
This location isn't perfect, but it's not what you describe either. I switched form the Gym Wipes to high-grade hospital cleaner with micro-fiber rags for 2 reasons-it's more environmentally friendly by creating less waste and some of the members would use way too many of them creating extra waste. I decided to go more "green" and use a cleaning method, that many gyms already do, to keep the facility clean...
As far as the bugs go I do have a pest extermination contract with a local credible company and the facility is treated every month. It is also cleaned twice daily. I'd have to say it's one of the cleanest gyms I have ever been witness to and I've seen 100s. The staff does a great job cleaning it. Occasionally a bug might slip though but that's normal...
As far as the ceiling tiles go they occasionally get a water spot. That's normal. We get our roofer out, locate the leak and get it plugged then change out the tile. That takes some time sometimes...
When equipment goes down I have to order parts and wait on a qualified repair company to come do the repairs. There is only 1 in the state of Alabama that I use and trust and they stay busy due to being the best. So yes, it can take a little longer to have something repaired than we all want but it's worth it and it shouldn't stop anyone from having a great workout that's at the gym to workout. You can always ask the staff to help you work around a piece of equipment that might be down. And I believe you were a personal training client at one point right? So, you should know how to work around any obstacle well and get a great workout in...
The bathrooms are fine. They get used a lot and occasionally get a scuff mark or have a place that needs touched up. That's normal with a busy business...
Since you appear to miserable working out at this facility based on your email, I will go ahead and help you make the decision on your renewal. I'm going to cancel you effective immediately and pro rate you a refund of the $99 you paid for the year's membership. The typical rate for 12 months is $199-299 so I'm a little perplexed on why you got such a low rate(a little over $8/month) but that's besides the point now. There is a facility almost directly across the street though that has a very similar rate($10/month) that I'm sure that will suit your needs better. It doesn't have classes but the price is low, you can workout there and it was opened this year, unlike mine that is going on year 15, and probably has beautiful locker room walls with no scratches...
Thanks for being a member. You will have a check mailed to the address listed on your membership with your prorated refund sent this coming week. It can take up to 10-14 days to receive it though but it will be on its way...
Please don't enter the Riviera Fitness Huntsville facility going forward. Again your membership has been cancelled effective immediately

This is the reason why I'm going to pay to go to planet fitness. Even though this place is free with my apt. Found a cockroach in the bathroom.... in addition to other problems. Nope.

Worst experience I have ever had with a gym in my entire life.
If you are going to sign a contract tell the person who is making you sign to SHOW YOU where it says in the contract that you can cancle at any time and read it VERY CAREFULLY.
EVERYTHING THEY SAY TO YOU IS A LIE.
They saw how naive I was at 20 years old and decided to take advantage of me and my money.
DON'T GO HERE IT'S A TRAP.

Not a bad gym at all, pretty good selection of equipment. Pretty much the only negative is there just isn't enough equipment to go around during peak hours. If you can avoid the 4pm-7pm crowd then you're good to go.

I signed up with the Brazilian ju jitsu included in my membership. After a few months Triad BBJ left Riviera and went to another location. When I tried to end my BBJ membership, the owner of riviera would not let me do it. I also had personal training at Riviera. After two months my trainer left to go to another gym because Riviera doesn't have that much space. Again I tried to end my membership with personal training( since my trainer had faulted on his end of the contract) and Clay would still not let me quit paying the personal training price. Riviera is not impressing at all. Very small, bad location, and the staff isn't polite.

I stayed at the CandleWood Suites twice this year for a total of 6 weeks which lets you go to this gym via an agreement they have in place. Both of my stays the staff at the gym treated me as if I had been a member there forever and wasn't just in to visit. I come down for classes about 6-8 weeks out of the year and as long as Candlewood is still linked with them I already know where I will be staying!

TLDR: "I think, the worst part about this billing fiasco with Riviera Fitness is the fact that COMCAST (surveyed, 3 yr running, MOST HATED company in the US) cancelled my account with the very same documentation I sent to Paramount Acceptance" (Riviera's billing company)!
--
I have been the member of numerous gyms in my life and unfortunately have had to cancel my membership with a good number of them due to moving outside a reasonable commuting distance. Upon signing up as a member of Riviera Fitness, I knew there was a possibility of my moving again in the near future. So, before ever signing an agreement, I inquired into the contract's termination clause (it was a very standard agreement). Aside from being a commercial and residential property investor, I am also a contract manager for a large healthcare organization. Needless to say, I am not new to actual contract terms and boiler plate jargon. Unfortunately, another move, taking me 70 miles outside the service area, (55 miles from the contractually agreed upon distance to qualify for agreement termination) and I was forced to find a new gym.
The first time I called Riviera to inquire about my account status I was given incorrect information on the amounts I saw drafting from my bank account. I was told by a Riviera Fitness employee they did not see any funds being drafted from my bank account except for my initial payment. I do not normally jump to conclusions but I immediately and mistakenly considered my old gym as the culprit who had been drafting my account while Riviera had forgotten to charge me. Wrong! After going back and forth with my old gym ("mom and pop" establishment) trying and figure out what was going on and to find someone who could actually talk to me about my billing questions I finally got to the root of the issue. Riviera had, in fact, been drafting my bank account all along.
After telling my current situation to employee number 2 at Riviera, I was told about their third party billing company, Paramount Acceptance (HORRIBLE). 3 months, numerous emails, and multiple calls later, I am STILL trying to get this gym/ their billing company to discontinue drafting my bank account. I have never had an issue like this with any other gym. I think, the worst part about this billing fiasco with Riviera Fitness is the fact that COMCAST (surveyed, 3 yr running, MOST HATED company in the US) cancelled my account with the very same documentation I sent to Paramount Acceptance!
Note: This is the first bad public review I have ever felt the need to write.

I rarely take the time out of my day to write reviews, but my experience here was such a disaster I feel obligated to warn others.
Terrible management/ownership. This gym was a disaster from the very beginning and I am so regretful of every walking in there. I chose to check it out because it was close to my apartment building and understood my apartment complex offered free membership. The membership employee told me that wasn't true, but I could join month to month no for $25. I decided to try it out, since it was no commitment. However, I foolishly believed everything he told me and signed something completely different (A one year contract with automatic renewal). On top of that, I found out my apartment did actually provide free membership. The owner Clay told me oh so politely to basically screw off because I was already locked in the agreement and he, the OWNER, couldn't do anything about it! Not sure I have EVER experienced worst customer service. I have heard several employees have been let go. The owner/management that is the real problem for allowing such behavior in the first place, and not taking responsibility to rectify the situation (i.e. refund my money).
The gym itself is average to poor, and neither members or employees clean equipment or re-racks weights.
If looking for a gym and this is your last resort, I would advice to workout at home.

great gym with excellent mma instruction, im not a big guy or very strong, i never worked out before i joined there mma class, they NEVER hit me harder than i hit them, so you can kinda set the pace of the sparring, and if you do join dont underestimate the small Japanese lady, she has a vicious triangle

I will just be honest. Yeah its an ok gym alot to do. But in terms of signing a contract PLEASE BE CAREFUL. They make wishes and try to convince you that you can cancel and they can help cancel at anytime which is a lie. Just remember when you signing a contract you are binded by the contract regardless of what these people say. SO! I learned that lesson. I got stuck with a 2 year membership and paid the consequences along the way. Please dont make my same mistake. And the girls name is Lindsay! And i will put her out there because when I called her to help me she acted crazy!
DONT SIGN ANY CONTRACT UNLESS THOSE TERMS ARE SPECIFIED! EVEN IF THEY ARE YOUR FRIENDS. THE TERMS OF THE CONTRACT ARE MADE BY A THIRD PARTY WHO ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND!

Incredible gym. Can't beat the staff, and programs they run. Triad Martial Arts powers their mixed martial arts program, so it is very high quality training!
