I started going to Soul Shine in February and it quickly became a space for me to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. The studio offers a variety of teachers and classes without sacrificing quality so there’s something for everyone. I’ve found every teacher to be encouraging and supportive and appreciate the energy they bring to each class. Highly recommend visiting the studio whether you’re a local or visiting Fairhope!

Love this cosy yoga studio in downtown Fairhope! The range of class offerings is great, from hot power yoga to relaxing and mindful Yoga Nidra, offing a class for whatever your body needs that day. All of the instructors are great, and I really enjoy each persons individual approach to leading the practice. Highly recommend!

Fantastic class! We did the slow vinyasa flow with John. The combination of sound bowls, music choice and aromatherapy was PERFECT! Great way to start the day. John does a great job cueing for beginners.

Sunday's Hot Yoga Flow class is the perfect way to start the week feeling positive and relaxed! Farah always puts so much thought and care into planning her classes, so they are challenging and grounding. Mary subbed recently and was excellent as well, offering lots of hands-on instruction and thoughtful guidance throughout class.

I took a class with Farah. It was my first time back on the mat in a few weeks and this was the perfect homecoming. Her artful execution of cues and use of props demonstrates her advanced knowledge of the human body. Her creative sequencing left my body feeling energized and empowered and helped me to create mental space. 10/10 no notes 🫶♥️

Decent studio. A little small, needs showers bad. Amberjoy is a horrible teacher/person and I highly recommend anyone and everyone avoid her toxic bullying. Some of the teachers are good but avoid amberjoy at all costs, she’s a bully.

I started practicing at Soul Shine Yoga in Fairhope, AL in October 2023. I was experiencing extreme SI joint pain, lumbar spine issues, core strength weakness, and everything else associated with sitting too much, having children, and aging. There were limitations I thought I could not overcome at 40+ years old, but within a year of dedicated practice I was able to build endurance and core strength that I could not achieve through distance running or other high intensity exercises. On top of the physical transformation, I found a compassionate yoga community of teachers and fellow yogis that makes the experience even better. I went from ground zero beginner (no prior experience) to practicing multiple times per week—I highly recommend this necessary version of self care for your mind and body at Soul Shine!

I can’t recommend this yoga studio enough. Since becoming active again after having children, my life has changed in such meaningful ways, and much of that is thanks to the incredible instructors here. The kindness and genuine care they show every student is unmatched. They create a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where I feel supported, no matter where I’m at in my practice. The skill and expertise of the teachers is evident—they tailor each session to meet the needs of every individual, making sure I feel challenged yet safe in each movement. This studio has not only improved my flexibility and strength but also my mental clarity and emotional balance. It’s truly been a transformative experience, and I am forever grateful for this space and the wonderful instructors who guide me with such wisdom and warmth!

And the Tuesday and Thursday morning Hot Hips and Hamstrings with Joy and Ferrah when I want something slower. You can't go wrong with any of the classes.

If you have never tried yoga, Emily is the lady you want to help you break the ice.
We hired Emily to come over to the Grand and do a class for our staff retreat as part of a theme of relaxation and centering after a hectic year. Of the seven, only two of my staff had ever done any kind of yoga. Emily was able to establish a comfortable atmosphere for everyone and led us in an excellent session. I'm kind of a big guy and about as limber as a steel rod, but I truly enjoyed the stretching and felt really good afterward. The entire staff enjoyed themselves and I think there may be a couple of new fans of yoga thanks to Emily's work.

Everyone is welcoming and kind at Soulshine and I’m thankful every day that I have a hometown studio that is as fantastic as Soulshine. Don’t hesitate to try a free class.
The teachers are top notch all of them! Emily, the owner also offers a teacher course several times a year if you are interested. 🙏🙏

I think the only reason this yoga studio stays in business is because there isn’t a lot of viable competition in the area. I have worked in the fitness industry and am speaking as someone with experience instructing and working with classes of students in a physical capacity.

For the past few years, I periodically attend this studio while I am visiting from out of town. The last time I visited, I had a really bad experience both as a student and as a customer.

On Monday, I attended a class that did not seem to match its description. While I appreciate an emphasis on breathing, this class was almost entirely breath work and had very little of the restorative movement that it was supposed to have. She also talked so much that it was distracting from whatever meditation and relaxation she was hoping to lead.

On Tuesday, I had one teacher who reprimanded me in front of other students for looking at my phone while I was waiting for class to start. My phone was on silent and I was not harming or distracting any other students, and I think she was unnecessarily rude. This same teacher was very mediocre and self-important in her instruction, using a lot of anatomy buzzwords incorrectly. At one point we were doing a hip hinging motion where we were bending over at the waist with our butts in the air. The instructor came over and touched my lower back right above my tailbone — VERY close to my butt— while she was talking about the motion. She didn’t ask permission to touch me in advance, which is a big no-no in any fitness instruction (and life in general). While I don’t like to be touched without permission at any point, I especially don’t want my butt and hips groped in front of other students. I told her that I didn’t want to be touched and she stopped and continued with the class. I shouldn’t have had to do that.

On Wednesday, the instructor was very good. She provided enough instruction that the movements were clear, provided alternatives for those who needed them, and didn’t talk so much that she became a distraction.

On Thursday, they had clearly overbooked the class, but were unwilling to acknowledge this. The mats were going to have to be laid out so close they were almost touching each other, which is dangerous if someone falls or has to recover from a position quickly. There was not even enough room for the instructor to have her mat down on the floor, not was there enough room for the instructor walk around the class and provide instruction. Unless they were planning on having us just sit on the mats and not move, this was an unsafe situation. I left the room and started putting my shoes on in the lobby and said something to an employee along the lines of, “ I don’t know why y’all think it’s OK for all the students to be that close together, because it is really dangerous if someone falls and I find that unacceptable.” Again, I have worked in the fitness industry and have seen what happens in classes like this if people are too close together, and someone falls. People can get seriously injured very easily. I think it is unacceptable for studios to ignore that risk just so they can pack more customers into a room and make more money.

Soon after I received a text from the studio, saying that I would be better suited for another studio, and that they were going to refund my money. Basically, they kicked me out. At that point, I let them know in no uncertain terms that my overall experience at the studio had been pretty bad. In addition to the things I mentioned above, it is very humid and has a slight odor of mold that they are clearly trying to cover up with incense. It also does not seem like they consistently clean the props between classes. This is a health hazard.

I think that if they were more viable options for yoga in this area, they might be held to better standards, but as it stands, this studio has sub-par instruction in an unsanitary and overcrowded setting.

Love this place for many reasons:
1. The teachers and the owners love for yoga & teaching shines through. They are always trying mix things up and keep things exciting too.
2. I had pulled a muscle in my neck/back while picking up a very heavy 3 year old - I was doing high intensity workouts at the time and couldn’t make my class because I was in too much pain. Also, also my sciatic nerve flared up every now and then. I chose to do yoga to help my pains & I’m happy I did, because it’s helped me tremendously… as in the pains are gone.
3. I’ve done yoga on and off for years and love this little studio it’s a special quaint place and I can’t recommend it enough!

As a temporary transplant to Fairhope, I saw an opportunity to rekindle my love for yoga after a very long time. Soul Shine popped up on a google search, I reached out for more information, and I have to say it has been one of my most favorite things about the area! I look forward to my classes each week, and to a certain extent it has been transforming - my body feels 100% better, and the benefits to my heart, soul, and mind are an added bonus. The teachers are wonderful...the pace of my chosen classes just right, and the nuggets of wisdom and their learnings shared hit just perfectly.

I enjoy practicing with many different yoga instructors. They each have their own style and I learn something to improve my practice from each of them, even the smallest tweak can make a difference. The variety and schedule of classes allows me to practice regularly which I value. My plans for the week can change quickly, but I know I can get my yoga class in with the choice of multiple morning and evening classes 7 days a week.

I started a monthly pass in late summer at Soul Shine after taking advantage of the new joiner 2 week unlimited promotion. I love the variety of classes, experienced teachers, and relaxed atmosphere. In the past I had shied away from hot classes so I started with their outstanding gentle class but slowly worked my way into the hot hips and hamstrings class which has helped my lower back. Now I look forward to hot power and then quiet my mind with guided meditations. All the instructors are friendly, thought provoking, helpful with modifications, breathing and focus. Doing yoga here has brightened my moods, motivation and kicked up natural endorphins.
