Decent local gym but the equipment is rarely updated and the facilities are in constant need of repair.

The positives of this gym are that it has a pool, hot tub, sauna, child care and classes. While it has its negatives. You aren’t going to do much better for gym in Athens if you want more amenities than just the weights.

This is the only location in the area that has water exercises. The lights were out in one of the showers. They only have two and lots of people waiting for the one with lights. They could do a better job of cleaning the floors and the pool. The hot tub has never been fully operational since I've been going. The facility is old and just needs better housekeeping.

This gym is a really good gym. There are lots of amenities and etc. Here lately, though I do not know what it is, but there seems to be an influx in people that do not speak English. With that comes a lot of confusion and ignorance to American customs. A lot of them have literally been sitting on machines while texting and will not use the machines while you are trying to work out….in the afternoon when the staff is not there they all bring their children and there will be 6-7 kids running around the gym and playing on equipment. I am not trying to be that guy, but it becomes very annoying when you were trying to work out and having to deal with these types of hassles.

I was there for 1hr and 15 minutes today! There was a gentleman there that was machine jumping and moving back and forth using the weights! He was not wiping anything down! He left just before I did, so when I left I told the person behind the desk! He said he would wipe things down! I said that is not the point!

The staff should be mentoring the people, not sitting playing on their phones and the computer!

Machine were not cleaned by staff and supplies are not kept readily available for customers. The group fitness room is way too small. Machines with individual remotes or tv screens do not work. General upkeep is lacking to say the least.

This place is terrible. Impossible to cancel. Go somewhere else. Called to cancel because I didn’t have time to drive to the outskirts of Athens to exercise. They said I had to come in during working hours which is difficult due to my schedule. Planned a special off day to take care of this. Go in and I am told they can’t cancel my account in the Gym but I have to call an 800 number. Call 800 number and told I have to submit 30 days written notice. Eventhough I don’t have a contract with them anymore. So I have to pay another months membership. Also, My entire membership my scan in card never worked so I had to go with a friend or stand around the door looking like a criminal til someone let me in.

I have never had a gym membership before but this one is great! They have a large selection of equipment and childcare on site. It makes it so much easier for me and my daughter loves the childcare. She never wants to leave.

Very very disappointed to hear that this facility does not support nursing mothers, and does not follow the law. In the state of Alabama, it is written in the law that a mother can breastfeed anytime, anywhere without being asked to stop, move or cover up. I will be contacting the appropriate outlets to make sure the worker at this location, and all workers are up to date on the law so they aren't breaking it and humiliating PAYING members.

I'm sooo thankful that encore fitness still allows you to bring the little ones in to swim... so if it's where you can't go to the park & spend a few hours (cause of severe allergies like I suffer from) or cause it's cold outside... it's just great cause the wellness center no longer allows you to do this.... as far as a comment I read on here about the bathrooms not always being clean... they aren't staffed to constantly run in behind each person to be sure they didn't leave a mess... some folks are straight up messy don't flush toilets if their toilet paper falls in the floor they leave it for the workers... so seriously if EVERYONE would clean up behind yourself it would help tremendously...
From all the workers in the rehabilitation side to those who work the desk on the fitness side are all so friendly & kind.... such pleasant individuals to greet you or work with you etc.... Again I can't say "Thank you" enough for allowing me to bring my grand babies & have a blast with them on days I just can't be out in all the pollen or when it's just simply cold outside.
If there's ONE thing I like to see encore get it would be one of this things that wrings your swim suit towels etc out for you so you don't have to leave with soaked swim wear towels or wash clothes etc... but hey I still give them a 5 star simply for allowing the little ones & for being so caring & friendly!! Thanks Encore!!

It's ok; not particularly awesome or bad. That's only my experience, though, exercising with weights. They also offer tanning, a spa, a pool, and childcare, all during staffed hours. I think they also offer aerobic classes. I don't think the place is particularly nasty as one reviewer pointed out. Everyone can improve, though. But that costs labor hours which translates into more $$$ on membership costs. Seems safe enough with a decently lit parking lot. They offer a lot of equipment. For those interested in weight-lifting, they have a power-cage, a smith machine, and numerous weight benches, along with a full (and I mean full) set of dumbells. For those interested in cardio, they have a row of nice treadmills (with in-unit television) and a row of elipticals. Membership runs about $45 a month with a 60 day cancellation period (meaning you pay 2 more months, monthly, even if you stop going). Nice gym, though. Definitely better than Riviera and the Lion's Den across town

So, I work out in the facility because it is close to my home. That's the only thing it has going for it. The place is never very clean and the bathrooms are usually dirty. This morning, I was washing my hands in the restroom and the "Director" of the facility comes in and uses the urinal. He just walks out and didn't wash his hands!! Very disgusting!

This is supposed to be the person in charge of the place...now I understand why it's always dirty.
