I love it. I'm in level one and in my class 3 I'm making a lot of progress, and I don't speak much English. The teachers are wonderful!

I am SO glad I finally found such a cool place, to learn this fitness that I’ve been wanting to do for so long. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. I was met with so much kindness and patience as soon as I stepped foot in the doors at Studio Steel. I’m so excited for my next class, and looking forward to keeping in this journey with such a great group of women! Thank you Elle for such an awesome experience :-)

I’m both a student and a teacher at Studio Steel and I couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Elle is a fabulous teacher who prides herself on hiring knowledgeable and friendly instructors to help meet students’ needs safely.
The new studio is clean, gorgeous, and it offers two separate spaces for classes as well as locker rooms equipped with a shower.
If you have ever wanted to try pole dancing, you could not find a better place to learn! It will change your life.

I’ve been going to Studio Steel for over a year now and my experience had been amazing. The instructors are super helpful and encouraging. The community of people that go there are very nice and a great hype squad. They encourage you to take the classes at your own pace, but I was surprised at how much I learned in a short period of time!

I adore Studio Steel and all of its instructors! I started my pole journey at almost-40, recovering from a divorce, and needing a place to feel empowered and strong. Studio Steel has become such a joyful, safe space in my life, and I can't get enough of it. Every single instructor is kind, fun, attentive, and helpful. They cheer you on and hype you up as you take risks and try new things. I learn something new in pretty much every class I take. Elle has such a beautiful vision for her space and listens to student feedback to constantly improve what she offers. If you want a great workout in a fun, supportive community, I can't recommend Studio Steel enough!

So I went to my first pole class today and chilllle! Talk about upper and lower body strength lol I don’t think I realized how much of a workout it would be but I had so much fun! I like that everyone’ there is either learning for the first time or continuing to learn without judgment! It really makes you feel welcomed and I 1000% will be back!🥰❤️

I also attended the Pole Beginner class on Dec 5, 2021 mentioned in the previous reviews. I echo the opinions and concerns of Google user Erin A. I would love to post a picture of my experience, but alas no photos were taken. 🤷🏼♀️ I regularly(3-5 times a week) attend a group fitness( not a pole fitness) class in the Homewood area and was looking to broaden my horizons in the fitness world and perhaps join here, but was highly disappointed with the way we were treated in Elle’s class. She is very skilled and fit, but it was clear she had no interest in teaching us that afternoon. She made it apparent with her actions and lack of enthusiasm and positivity(which is needed in a beginner pole fitness class). We were nothing but respectful; anything stated differently about how we behave during the hour workout would be a falsification.
Please note- I was only motivated to post a negative review after the observation of professionalism, or lack there of, of the Steel Studio account and the responses to criticism.

Me and my friends took a beginning pole class. The instructor had blue hair. She was not welcoming, encouraging, and did not foster a fun atmosphere within the class. We all felt unwelcome and did not enjoy the class. 5 out of the 6 of us knew each other. We weren’t obnoxious, loud, or making this a joke. We went to learn and have a good time. She did not explain moves very well. We had to ask her several times to do a move again. She had good skill but that did not translate well to teaching. She was critical of our banter with each other (which was encouraging) Almost like she was too good to teach the class and it was beneath her. It was an odd experience and I wouldn’t recommend this studio..
I wrote that review on their Facebook page. They decided to respond back “sometimes it’s not the instructor”
Further proving my point she did feel this class was beneath her. Don’t offer beginner classes if you can’t teach at a beginner level.
Response to her response: We paid for a class. We should have been treated as such. 5 friends paid together. We were on time. We were attentive and we tried. Our phones were no where near us during the class. Looked over your website. Nothing says people can book a class together
After some research. The Instructor of the class was the owner Elle. She has a history of harassing and bullying people who give her studio criticism from reading passed reviews. I went into this experience wanting it to be positive. I’m only leaving a review for future students who are looking for a pole class. They can see an updated review form a recent class in December 2021. I showed up 15 minutes early.
I guess be a size 0. Don’t book with anyone you know (might feel intimidating oh well) be 30 minutes early apparently. Don’t talk to anyone. And she might be pleasant with you. Don’t smile. Don’t laugh. This isn’t a fitness class apparently. Even though several in our class did complete several moves. I myself landed a backwards spin.
As you read her response below this is how they choose to respond to people who have criticism . I’m not mad I didn’t come out a pole dancer. I respect it takes a lot of strength. I never diminished her abilities. However she has come to calling me uneducated (on Facebook) and apparently unfit (here). Basically trying to discredit my experiences by insinuating I’m throwing a tantrum because I didn’t learn anything. Which is untrue. Her responses totally emulates her attitude that day. We are unwanted there and that was known before we walked in the door when we asked to use the restroom. This response Doesn’t look good for a “fitness” class.

I went from someone who didn't think very much of herself to someone who has not in only grown in strength physically, but mentally as well. Today, I am stronger, more confident, and more fit than I've ever been and it is all thanks to the love, support, and instruction I've received from the owner Elle and her wonderful team of instructors.
I recently competed at PSO Southern on the Studio Steel Team and I won a gold medal!!! I'm three months into pole sport and this is the type of results I've received in such a short period of time.
If you like to workout in a judge-free environment filled with people of all backgrounds then this is the place to be. Prices are great, the instructors are incredible, and I'm delighted to say that I've gained a whole new family with my pole sisters!
See you in class!

I’ve been attending classes for about 5 months now and I feel wonderful! If you don’t like the gym and want to try something different this is the perfect place for you. I’ve always felt encouraged here, and have felt myself become so much stronger both physically and mentally! It isn’t easy, but it is SO WORTH IT!

One day I just made up my mind to try pole and studio steel was the first place that showed up on my phone search results. My first class felt like I had been there forever and I was getting the chance to sweat and bond with my girlfriends. I had been weight lifting and exercising for years and my first class was beyond the best workout I’ve ever had in my life. Since starting at studio steel (2.5 months) I’ve lost 13 pounds and feel more athletic than I ever have in my life. I’ve never been in such a supportive and freeing environment and there are so many inspirational women who are at all levels of their practice. Honestly, I can say that when I move from Birmingham this will be the only place I miss about this city. If you’re thinking of trying pole and are too scared, please do it, and do it here. You will NOT regret it!

Going to class at Studio Steel is definitely my favorite place to go/do through out the week. Corinne an Elle are some of the most friendliest people I have been delighted to meet. I have started learning this form of dance as a complete beginner with no experience in really any dancing or fitness and Corinne has been an excellent and patient teacher!

Finally, a professional vertical fitness facility in B'ham! Pole is an incredible workout and it's greatly enhanced when the instructors and the studio are top notch, like they are here. Studio Steel is a new, unique, and very comfortable space that really lets you focus on the workout. I so like the look and feel of the place. The pleasant surroundings, ample parking, professional equipment, and quality accessories in the boutique let it all come together. Definitely worth a visit. And, they've got a great $10 "Taste of Pole" option that newbies should absolutely check out.
