I have been looking for a new gym since moving to the area and I have finally found it. The bathrooms are always clean and smell nice. There are a plethora of towels for me to utilize while there. The equipment is constantly being wiped down and cleaned. The new lady manager and her staff are doing a wonderful job. I love the atmosphere and the fact that they take the time to make my personal gym experience worth while !

This fitness Center has to be one of the cleanest gym I believe I’ve ever been in. I’m always immediately greeted with a smile, and the manager, Ms. Seline, is absolutely amazing! She’s always there and available to answer any questions for my daughter and I in reference to equipment operations, and readily explains in detail how each would impact our daily routine. I would recommend this gym to anyone: men, women, young or old like me lol. I really enjoy my visits at WOA gym, and a huge thanks to whoever decided on new management. Workout Anytime used to be a decent gym, but over the past year the quality has noticeably declined. The equipment is worn out, the ceiling leaks whenever it rains, and the water fountains are constantly out of order. The staff does not enforce members returning weights, so finding the equipment you need has become frustrating. On top of that, the staff is often unfriendly and rarely available to help.

When my husband went in to renew his membership and update his banking information, the staff entered it incorrectly. Instead of notifying him that the payment didn’t process, they allowed late fees to build up. When he left an honest review about the situation, the gym offered him a refund in exchange for removing the negative review. He took it down and communicated with the manager as instructed, but the promised refund never arrived.

So here I am sharing our experience.
And just to be clear: I won’t be bribed to take this one down.

Place is horrible they'll find every way to over charge you late fees due to their workers incompetence in putting in your bank info. They also started keeping the door locked so when you have a billing issue you'll be locked out and have to call them to let you in which could take 20 min.
Most of their benches and squat racks barely have weights. You spend a lot of time gathering what you need from other machine then you do working out. The water fountain breaks every other week the roof leaks everywhere. Half the machines are broken and out of order. They have the audacity the charge 36 a month for such a terrible conditioned gym. They also charge about $100 to cancel your membership and they bill every 2 weeks so when they mess up your payment info they get to charge you a 20 dollar late fee for their mistake. I highly recommend avoiding this place.

Today was the final straw for me to write a review. I want to preface with the fact that I never complain online about businesses, I have never left a negative review on an establishment ever. But this place needs a serious over-haul. I woke up at 7am to go to the gym only for the scanner to not be functioning, so much for the “any-time” part of work out anytime. I’ve been coming here for a few months now and I wish there was another gym in the area I could switch to. It’s always dirty, a lot of the equipment is rusted and questionable. The front desk staff never seems to care about ANYTHING. They have never been able to answer a single question I ask them- like ever. I asked something as simple as what time do you open and one of the front desk staff didn’t know the answer and seemed confused. Every question I have asked, the front-desk didn’t know the answer to. They couldn’t answer any questions about my membership, one day I asked one of them to check me in and he seemed confused? There seems to always be a leak in the ceiling. The bathrooms are filthy. The sauna is not a sauna it’s a tiny little hot box. Sadly this is one of the only gyms in the area, and I really hope something gets done to improve the state that it’s in.

Don't go to this gym. I cancelled my membership 4 yrs ago and they have continued taking money from my account to the tune of over $1400.00 I called several times over the past 2 months and have never recieved any call backs or anything. The mgr said that he had passed the information onto the regional mgr and still nothing. I have been told that im not the only person that has been done this way. I spoke with the new mgr and she said they wouldnt give me a refund or any type of deal to rectify the $1400 they have taken. I started using the workout anytime in georgia but would never recommend this franchise in Athens, AL to anyone. Corporate has been notified and I will continue to warn others of the way this particular franchise does business.
In response to saying ive been using your facility well that is an impossibility as I have not stepped foot in that facility since 2021. But I ha e started using another facility in atlanta. So no need to lie about me being there because I haven't been in that area in over 4 years

Day pass experience:
This is a FILTHY gym. I am serious the floor, machines, bathrooms. This place definitely hasn't been swept in a month. Everything is just ew.

I went on break for work for a day pass. 10$.
They want 45$ a month for this gym. (Week pass 50$) I would recommend if you can to just go to a planet fitness or another gym. I paid 45$ at phase and they have pools and basketball court 2 stories, in and outdoor. And its VERY clean (Im just saying this is NOT worth your money)

Its overall small. One rack of freeweights going to 125. A lot of the machines really need maintenance. You can not adjust them properly and the stickers for each weight are gone. There is leaks from the ceiling and overall rundown because of no upkeep.
I got a decent pump tho. The water tastes bad 👎

Not to be super negative. But I have NEVER been to a gym this dirty and disorganized. They have a kid at the front desk who just on his phone. Bathrooms were so gross. The cleaning they do is just a surface wipe.

I can tell athens doesnt have a lot of options but if you have time you should go out of your way, anywhere else.

Off topic. All the nails coming out of the ceiling, everyone in there is dead if there is a tornado 😔 that roof gonna fly away.

I've been a member here for over a year and have watched the place steadily go downhill. The facility is filthy—there’s water leaking from the ceiling and walls, and it's just gross overall. There aren’t enough weights, and the gym has maybe six barbell clips total. The locker rooms and bathrooms are disgusting. The front desk staff is rude and seems to struggle with basic communication. One day, I was running on a treadmill when it suddenly malfunctioned and nearly caused me to injure myself. A lot of the equipment is either broken or barely holding together. The final straw? The water fountains broke—no water, no way to refill a bottle. Completely unacceptable. I would advise anyone considering this gym to go somewhere else.

I have been a member of this gym close to 5 years, and I've never seen it in this condition. It is so dirty and some of the equipment stays broken for long periods of time. I don't know anything about the manager except that he stays locked in his office during the times I'm there. I never see him interacting with customers or doing any work around the gym. To be fair, I'm usually only there during lunch, but that still doesn't explain why the gym is so dirty. When Robert was there as manager a couple years ago, he kept the place well maintained and so clean. I think there have been at least 5 managers since then, and with each one, the place has gotten worse. I am calling a different gym today to see about a membership. I don't think I can continue at this location of Workout Anytime.

Tyler is a terrible manger, I’ve been trying to cancel my membership for over a month. I turned in my lease info for which they said they needed to cancel my membership. Everytime I called to see if my membership has been canceled Tyler would say he waiting on his manger to read the email and that he would send another one to them. I asked can he just call the manager since they obviously not replying to the email and he told me no which makes no sense. I would not recommend this gym the customer service is terrible

I workout early in the morning. I'm at the gym by 4am and at least once a month the door will not open. So after I've done took my pre workout and eat my pre workout meal just to get to the gym for the door to be locked. I'm telling you right now if you're reading this the people that workout early in the morning are pissed and yall are about to lose a lot of members. The lions den down the road has no problem with their doors unlocking in the mornings. I'm telling you this in hopes yall finally change yalls locks to something better. Just visited a super nice fitness center in Athens. I’m an over the road truck driver in Athens weekly. I competed for over 30 years and stopped in to take a peek as I am always looking for a great place to train. I was extremely surprised.
The club was clean, laid out very nicely
with plenty of equipment, machines, free weights, power racks, dumbbells cardio all of the essentials for an old muscle head like me. I met the manager Tyler and Skyler the front desk attendant. They were courteous provided me with plenty of information. I highly recommend this location as a place to take your fitness to the next level.

A few years back, when i first joined. I remember thinking about how surprised i was that this gym was so clean and well maintained.

That was back around late ‘22. Fast forward to now. It’s extremely apparent that there is no sense of responsibility or pride behind the current team that’s supposed to be working this place.

A list of several observations:

1. A couple of machines are broken and have been for about two months (ab machine and leg extension machine).

The ab machine is not only broken, but it’s extremely rusty. To the point that it feels questionable using the machine at all.

2. Hand towels don’t get washed at the end of the night.

There have been several occasions where i have walked in early in the morning and there are no hand towels to wipe down machines after use.

3. Barbell weights are literally anywhere and everywhere.

Management tries to put the responsibility of the weights on the gym members. I partially understand that sentiment, but at the end of the day. It’s the responsibility of management and employees to maintain a certain standard of orderliness. That’s part of the job.

4. Worst of all. BATHROOMS DO NOT GET CLEANED!!!

I want to emphasize that I wouldn’t make a claim like this if it wasn’t true.

In the mens locker area. There is a shirt that has been sitting on top of the lockers for about a month or two. The sinks are caked in grime buildup. The toilet runs continuously and has been for a long time now. And worst of all, the showers don’t get cleaned. And i mean, AT ALL. It’s very apparent when you look at the soap holder and see the accumulation of months worth of soap buildup. Or you look at the floors and see dirt and grime (possibly mold). It was bad enough that i have used the disinfectant spray that the gym provides, to wipe down the soap holder and bench that’s right outside the shower.

My point on the showers is personal to me because i use those showers after every workout before work. If i had time to drive home and use my own shower. Then i would. But realistically, I don’t have time for that when i clock in early for work as it is.
To end this review. I’d like to say that i have been sitting on the thought of making this review for quite a while because i don’t like the thought of dragging this place through the mud, but the negligence has gone on for too long.

I'm not one to leave bad reviews, and overall the gym is good. Has great equipment and what not but is under terrible management. I bought a 1 year membership on October 10th or 11th in 2023. Ever since I have not had a working badge. The only times I can workout is before work which right now is 2 AM. I went over there this morning to workout and I scanned my card and couldn't get in. So instead of working out I drove 30 minutes there and left. 2 years ago I never had this issue. I kept getting told that my badge was fixed but never was. I paid over $400 after taxes for this membership but since I don't have the time to go while staff are there I've only been about 4 times since I've gotten the membership. Don't waste your time or money here. Instead go to literally any other gym. Also management, if you're reading this I want all of my money back.

I do not recommend this gym. My son canceled his membership back in October. I understood you have to give a 30 day notice which his last payment should’ve been in November. His account is under my debit card. They are still charging my account each month because someone didn’t do their job and cancel the membership. He has called several times. They now owe me $57. at this point .. this is just ridiculous …. i have a member who’s a minor under my account and they are still trying get money out of my card they weren’t able too to get the fee’s at all because i didn’t have any $ at all , but it’s crazy how they tell me one thing or another they first told me that the family member who was under my account which was a “ minor “ that day when i cancelled my membership i paid almost $100 . ALMOST $100 … and they told me that the member who was under my account was also cancelled too … we let it be , and till this day they are still trying get money out my bank ? because of late fees or whatever .. and now they are saying that the member who was under my account , her account wasn’t canceled .. so what did i pay $100 for , honestly this will become a really huge problem if y’all still try to get money out my checkings … over some late fees when y’all said everything was good & now yall are saying this .

This gym is one of the worst ethical business establishments I have ever been a part of. I am a long time member of gyms and I understand that memberships are the life blood of the organization. Well I can tell you that me and my family try our best to communicate well with the local managers and owners if available. My wife Gloria Williams signed up for a membership and started working out and later added my son who was 15 and my self to her membership and we worked out as a family for months. We bought a new home and had to move so we asked the manager of the gym if they had a location in Decatur where we were moving to and they said yes. He made a mistake and was looking up Decatur Georgia and not Alabama. After he realized the mistake he instructed my wife to go online or to cancel via email. My wife did just that and canceled our membership. Come to find out they canceled my wife and it was not until months later we found out that me and my son was still getting billed. Now mind you my son was 15 when this was set up and was not legally able to have a contract without a adult and until this day they are still billing my account several months after we have moved. I then call the number that is on my billing statement because I finally noticed the charges and they said that they only except the money and can not answer any questions on why I am still being charged. I would not sign up with this company due to lack of ethical leadership. Luckily the gym membership does not make a break my account and it went unnoticed for months so I thought it was just a simple mistake and if they would have just canceled when I called i would have been ok. They simply started deflecting and claiming that me and my son who is 15 signed up under an individual account and not a family account mind you there is a discount to sign up as a family. They do show my wife was canceled but continue to insist that she could not help me via the call. I will continue to post on this gym until I receive a call from someone in charge rectifying this matter. You should have my number considering you say I have an account.

Outdated equipment and policies! Boxing class was barely a class and the sauna is a box in a room …. I honestly HATE THIS PLACE 99 dollars to get tf out a contract I didn’t know I was signing up for !!! And honestly would get a lawyer before considering this gym ! They told me they would mess up my credit if I don’t pay the 99 dollars to release myself from this contract or they will report it to the credit bureau!! I hate this gym and they will tell you about a deal and not the full details or how much it can affect your life and credit !

I have been a member of the WOAT Athens, AL location since April 2023. I had a bad experience with a previous gym membership at another franchise & thought long & hard about ever joining another gym. But because of my health, I knew it was time to start toward reaching my fitness goals again. Staff members Vinny & Juneau always greet each member, are alert busy doing a fantastic job of keeping the Athens location in great ‘shape’ & always have time to assist when needed yet they also let the members have their space. They are both truly an asset to the WOAT organization. I HIGHLY recommend Athens, AL WOAT to anyone looking for a place they feel where they can fit in with no judgment.

This gym is in need of serious maintenance. The front door scanner doesn't work, so they just leave the front door unlocked at all times. Half of the treadmills don't work. The cabinets in the mens change area were ripped away from the wall and took a month to repair. The staff does not make sure that equipment is placed back. Alot of the equipment gets taken to the free area in the back, because of such little space in the front. The workout area is so crapped at times it is hard to get on any equipment. When the equipment breaks it usually takes serveral weeks for it to be repaired. I have not been able to use the app for 3 months. I have emailed the customer service a couple of times reporting that the password reset link goes to a broken image. After I first signed up they called me the next day, and told me that it would be an extra 10 charge because I used my credit card. I refused the charges as they didn't mention any extra fees for using a card. They tried to strong arm so I was going to cancel and they changed thier minds. I would advise against giving this company your bank account and routing number which is what they prefer you use to sign up. After thier shady practice I'm glad I did not give them access to my bank account. Only use this gym if it is the only place you can get to.

Your website claims you value integrity, but your policies are set up to take as much money from people as possible. The gym is decent, but the company does not value its members at all. I was talked into purchasing a whole membership instead of just a week trial by an employee. I walked in, signed up, walked out and never went back but now I’m out of pocket $110 just for signing up. This policy is horrendous.

This gym is highly lacking the space, equipment, classes, and the list goes on and on. I recently visited my hometown in Palm bay, Fla and used the Workout Anytime gym there and it was amazing! Huge-triple the size of this one, multiple machines to where I didn't have to wait for anything. The gym there was clean, hugh bathrooms, multiple tanning, a premier member suite, big screen workout area for classes and the list goes on and on. I was stunned at the contrast between the two areas and the price was still the same. Unfortunately there is no real competition in this area, so it appears there is no real urgency to improve.

Always feels so crowded and condensed. Never enough room to work out with the amount of people that are there as it is the only gym nearby pretty much. And has almost the bare minimum for everything. 1 urinal, 1 toilet, 1 hand dryer, 1 small counter w 2 sinks close together always packed in the bathroom. I’d like to renew my membership when it runs out but I doubt I will when the planet fitness opens up due to the lack of improvement or expansion of this gym.
It’s also always around 72 degrees or higher which is overly hot for a gym. Temperature is to high

Edited: I'm not sure what you are wanting me to send. I tried to cancel yesterday which was the day I joined AND the 30 day notice date. What exactly are you needing me to do to get it canceled since it says I'm on the hook for a year?

Joined online and tried to cancel literally a few hours later and they won't cancel my membership. You are not allowed to have a change of heart with this establishment. I wasn't asking for refunds or anything just to cancel it and let me go about my business just to be told no they hooked me for a year 😒

Workout Anytime Athens is an outstanding gym. It is a very clean facility, high-quality equipment, and offers a very positive atmosphere. I love having the option to work out anytime that fits my schedule. For me personally, I’ve currently lost 75 pounds so I must give a big thank you to a professional, caring and knowledgeable staff. The gym itself is fine. If you can’t workout to Christian Praise Music bring your headphones or just ear plugs. It’s not the most upbeat exercise get your blood pumping music they are playing. So that is why I am only giving them 3 stars.

UPDATE: It seems the praise music was an anomaly and the gym is back to playing regular pop/top 40 music. Much much better atmosphere to workout to. So I adjust my star rating.

I am from out of town and had business in Athens. I rarely write reviews, but I felt like I needed to express how great my time was at Workout Anytime. When I stopped in the first thing I noticed was how clean the facility was. When I interacted with the staff everyone was very pleasant, nice, and offered excellent customer service. It was a very family friendly environment with a wholesome feel that really lightened the mood. I especially liked the Christian Music that was playing. It was very uplifting and it kept everyone that I saw in a great mood and ready to workout. I had such a pleasant experience on Friday that I actually came back and worked out Saturday and Sunday too! If I lived closer this would definitely be the gym where I would workout. Management has done a great job keeping this gym exceptional especially when compared to others. Good job and keep up the great work!

**Editing based on business response- My issue isnt with your cancellation process or with being asked why. The online cancellation was easy. It was the response i received after providing my reason and the way i was treated the rest of the interaction with this man. Thats what i have an issue with. Also, I saw a missed call from the facility, best time to reach me is after 5:30 or very early in the am.***
Loved the facility. Loved the staff. Loved the atmosphere. And honestly, I want to go back. But I won't. The way I was treated by some man when I had to cancel was awful and demeaning. When he asked why, it was like the reasons I gave were just not good enough for needing to cancel. I said I had just had a baby and just couldn't. But I didn't add that I had complications. Or that I was on matleave and couldn't afford it and was having to cut out any costs i could. Or that I was trying to establish a routine with my newborn baby. Then, I tried cancelling my SOs because he just didnt use it, but this man said I couldn't. That's fine, I tried explaining that I thought I could because I was explained it was an account under my account, but it was also its own account? Then,I tried to ask if I could just hand my SO the phone and him verbally cancel it. This man cut me off and told me that "just because I told him to cancel an account doesn't mean he was going to just because i say so." He ended up telling us how to cancel. But why the judgement? It wasn't necessary. Making me feel terrible about cancelling freshly post partum didnt increase my chances of staying. And it certainly doesnt make me want to come back. Just tell us how to cancel and go about your day...

I purchased a membership, the facilities were fine, but at the time I can workout there are way too many people there so I canceled my membership. In typical gym fashion instead of just out right canceling my membership I have to go to a website and cancel out but was also informed that they have a 30 day cancelation policy so not used the facilities one time and have to pay $80. So thanks for stealing my money.
Well if being late means you guys run my payment late then thats on you, you had my card info and had no problem running it.

BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU HAVE TO END YOUR MEMBERSHIP. They make it very difficult when you want to cancel your membership. Our mother is and has been in a nursing home for months and this place continued to charge for the membership. They did refund the last payment we sent. They need to treat the clients with a little more honesty and respect. I and my wife were given a run around with our account and other family members as well. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE MANAGER CALLED US AND REMOVED THE REFUND FOR OUR MOTHERS ACCOUNT BECAUSE OF THIS REVIEW. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL!
