I have had the great privilege of training with Tara Phillips for the last year and a half. I have learned so much from her and have gotten so much stronger and more confident with strength training. I feel so proud of what I have accomplished and credit her with teaching me correct form and technique. I could not recommend her highly enough. It is so critical for women to lift weights as we age for our bone and muscle health and training with Tara has made all the difference.

I came to Tara with the goal of gaining muscle. The exercises she picks are fun and engaging. She pushes and encourages me to increase weights and makes me feel accomplished. Due to knee pain, she understands that some exercises may not be a good fit and she ensures to modify them or choose a different movement. I really like training with Tara!

If you are looking for a personal fitness trainer Tanor is your guy. Whether that's losing weight, gaining muscle mass, recovering from an injury, or simply getting into shape he has the knowledge and expertise you are looking for. I completed his 10 week course and I couldn't be happier. There is a lot of programs out there but nothing compares with meeting with someone in person as knowledgeable as Tanor. He's not going to do the work for you but he will definitely help you achieve your goals. Stop procrastinating and give Bare Athletics a call.

I recently completed my 10 week BARE Training Program with Tanor.
I was 6 months in to my fitness journey and felt the need to have some professional guidance.
Tanor's knowledge in body mechanics as it relates to lifting has helped me improved and continue to improve my physical fitness.

I’ve always been intimidated by the gym and weight lifting which led me on a search for a personal trainer. I’m half way through a 10 week program with Tanor and I already feel so much more knowledgeable, confident, and EXCITED about the gym and my fitness progress. One of my favorite things about Tanor is that he ties in the importance of emotional/mental health along with helping you reach your physical goals. As a former hockey player after I stopped playing I have had lower back issues Tanor helped me a lot with learning about hip mobility and how important the IT bands and how to properly warm up before lifting and how these things help with the lower back. He has a vast amount of knowledge about lifting and the proper way to do it. I definitely will recommend Tanor to any of my friends and family who ask about great trainers in the anchorage area!

I am so happy I hired Tanor with Bare Athletics! I come from a background of lifting and sports, but then got set back several years due to injuries. When I finally decided it was time to get back into things, Tanor was there to make me feel safe and confident at the gym again, knowing when to work on things like resistance and focussing on my overall wellness. In addition to being both extremely personable and knowledgeable, Tanor excels at meeting you where you’re at and tailoring his approach to suit your individual needs. This component of teaching is probably the most important when it comes to effective coaching and what I was looking for in a personal trainer. He was considerate of all aspects of my comfort throughout the session. Tanor was focused not just on making sure I was doing things correctly but that I understand why it was correct and how to replicate it on my own in the future. Developing skills and awareness of my body that can be used when working out alone is ultimately what I was hoping to achieve through personal training - and that’s what I got here! Super happy, 10/10 would do again.

Tanor is a amazing trainer, very knowledgeable for sports specific stretching and exercises. I’m a moderately active down hill skier and he helped me get my core and legs ready for the season. From muscle building to general wellness training, Tanor is a great fitness coach and guide.

I started working with Tanor at Bare in March of 2021. He built me a program that was challenging and focused on my goal of beginning to reshape myself and get back into shape. After two months I asked him to build me another program that was even more difficult and I have been doing it ever since. As of day of posting I am down 25lbs and 6 pants sizes. I can not say enough about Tanor and Bare Athletics.

Over the course of three months, Tanor showed me exercises I could do at the gym or at home that would help my hip mobility. As an avid hiker, I started experiencing hip pain and sought out a trainer. Tanor is knowledgeable, upbeat and professional and I trust his feedback and workouts SO much. I felt safe, seen and heard throughout our training and left feeling stronger and more in tune with myself. This was my first time ever working with a trainer and my experience was 10 out of 10!
