We only offer group training classes and 1-1 training. No open gym times!

I can’t recommend Hunter’s Garage Gym enough! My five year old twins love kids camp and my younger son can’t wait until he’s old enough to join his brothers. Along with gaining lifelong friends and having fun, they have become stronger and more confident in their body movements. Hunter teaches the fundamentals of strength, speed, flexibility and mobility using games, obstacle courses, sandbags, and traditional means such as kettle bells, squats, and pushups. The boys look forward to class every week and we drive in from Palmer just so they can attend. The boys get all their energy out and have already learned so much in the five months they have been attending. As a parent, I love that all the coaches are wonderful with my sons and that they are teaching my sons’ skills that will help them as they grow and become more physically active.

Hunter’s initial assessment helped me identify ways to solve problems that have plagued me for YEARS and that many professionals could never identify. His weekly training sessions, tailored to me, gave me the confidence to get back to working out and a healthier lifestyle after several back injuries and a subsequently rough pregnancy. I feel the momentum back in my life and I’m stoked to notice I’m getting stronger with each passing week— without injury! I can’t recommend this gym (and its trainers!) enough.

This gym has made such a positive difference in my physical and mental health since I started. The atmosphere and coaching staff are so welcoming and encouraging that it was not only a breeze but a joy getting back into being physically active. After a few years of being stagnant, just 6 short weeks of working out and instruction has me feeling more energized, stronger, and even happier while making some friends along the way. Hunter and Colton are the best trainers in Alaska! Mountaineers and Endurance Athletes you need their strength routine in your training plan! Seriously, I can't brag enough about this place! I went from having swollen knees after long hikes to carrying 50-60 lbs packs up mountains all day in a matter of months. They fix your form and make sure you getting the most out of your workout! Also, the community is FANTASTIC! Couldn't ask for better people to work out with. Did you know trauma is stored in your body? I didn't either but after going to Hunter/Colton then can help release different traumas with different movement. We need a bigger following so they have a reason to come to Eagle River! :)

I can't say enough good things about Hunter's Gym - Hunter and Colton are fabulous trainers, really listening to what's going on and helping me get strength, function and mobility back after having babies and a major injury. After 6 months of training of course I'm stronger, but more importantly I understand my body mechanics better so my daily life has improved exponentially. The community they've cultivated is incredible too - people are genuine and supportive and celebrate your gains with you. Love this place and these guys, best gym I've been to!

The health journey is a long and winding road, mine was taking a U-turn for the worse, but with the help of Hunter and Colton at Hunter’s Garage Gym it is straightening out. Building muscle is nonnegotiable for metabolic health, this is the piece that I was missing. I can feel after three months a shift, I’m getting stronger at 62 years old. Hunter even made me a better driver, I’ve got much improved neck mobility, so I can look and see if cars are coming!

Super happy I found Hunter’s gym, I’ve learned a lot from both Hunter & Colton! You can tell they’re educated and passionate about what they do.
I don’t have a lot of experience in a gym setting and they make me feel super comfortable to ask any questions I have. People of all different fitness levels thrive here. Everyone who goes to the gym is welcoming & encouraging! The group classes are definitely a highlight of my week. I feel stronger & happier coming here and can’t wait to see more progress. 💪💪

At Hunters Garage Gym the coaches focus each workout on hitting certain muscle groups and demonstrate each exercise to make sure you are working the right muscles, Hunter and Colton have helped several people including me become stronger and I would definitely recommend them to anyone seeking personal training or a group fitness program!

I’ve just started working out a little over a month ago, and im only able to make it 1-2 times a week. Im already noticing changes, I've seen more definition in my muscles, and felt physically stronger which I love. I also love that the coaches want to help you and they are great about it. If something isn’t working out for me they’ll give me something else to try, which is great and you cant find that at many other gyms. Also the people here are great, they also care about you and give you motivation to do your best. You should definitely come support this smaller gym and yourself by coming here to see changes and become stronger!!

I could not recommend this gym more! The knowledge and commitment both Colton and Hunter have are unmatched and they have created a great atmosphere for conversation and any questions I may have regarding my health. Colton’s 1on1 coaching has benefited me so much in just 3 months. I am more motivated and energized throughout the day, have a better sleep schedule and I feel stronger with each session! My 13 year old son started training at Hunter’s Garage Gym with Colton about 4 months ago. His strength and endurance has improved dramatically. His performance as a competitive hockey goalie has also improved. He loves the workouts and says it is super fun. He loves working with the giant sandbags too. If you can make a 13 year old love workouts then you are doing something right. Keep up the good work! Highly recommend!

I decided last year that I had this big life goal of running a Spartan Race. I got hooked up with a trainer and we were working virtually. Well it was a virtual routine of do this, do that this many times, watch this video for the form and while the coach was an absolute pro, it ultimately didn't work for me.
Hunter and Colton are there in real time to correct your form, push you, and help you. No workout is the same and the music selection is always good. I'm excited to go and workout and see the coaches and my workout crew.
This place doesn't have a fancy juice bar but it has a community.

Hunter was able to quickly identify my weakpoints and correct my form with ease. I left very confident, getting back on track with my deadlift after a few minor injuries. From someone who has been lifting for 3 years, recording myself and doing my own research to correct issues and form; get an assessment here instead. You will save a lot of time and hassle. Very impressed, quality coaching is well worth it.

Great gym !! I love that it’s a smaller group so it’s easier to chat with the coach if needed. The classes are like small boot camp sessions and very fun. I would not push myself nearly as hard if I were doing this on my own. Prior to coming to the gym I would have frequent neck and low back pain which left me feeling like I needed to see the chiropractor weekly. I expressed this from the beginning and my low back and neck pains are pretty much non existent now and I feel much better.
Highly recommend Hunter and his team at this gym. You are worth the work !

I have been training with Hunter as my coach for years. I’ve been to many gyms, and this one is special. Through his coaching, I have gotten rid of pains and injuries that had stuck with me for years. I have put on ~35 pounds of muscle through his programming. I recently deadlifted 400 pounds for the first time, along with other consistent PRs. But this is no basic weightlifting gym. As someone who has suffered from OCD and anxiety issues, working with Hunter through forms of physical and mental expression has helped me conquer my OCD and better understand myself. I have had eye opening experiences in this gym that have helped me in all aspects of my life. If you are looking to put in the work, this gym is for you. I have definitely gotten the physical and mental gains that are worth the price. Also, the vintage weights are dope.

I LOVE hunters gym! I have always been someone who was athletically inclined, so I've always felt I preformed well in the gym. But as I've aged new hurdles have presented themselves that I'm not sure the correct answers for. Such as, postpartum healing of the body, improper breath-work, displacement of tension during workouts, lack of mobility, and just a general lack of "true" knowledge about the body (not your stereotypical trainers generalized answers).
I've started wanting to know the root of raw healing. So instead of coming to terms with the side affects of common problems, I've looked into stopping the problem at the source vs dealing with the consequences that come later. Hunter does the same with his training. He takes your goals and works the muscles that are behind the scenes of achieving those goals. Works the muscles that support the muscles carrying you to your goals!
He looks at body composition, your goals, your nutrition habits, the health of your mind, and even past traumas to the body (mental & physical) to create the perfect plan for you. If there was a way to unlock the key to personal training and have it perfected, I'd argue he's done it.
10/10 recommend Hunters Garage Gym!

Whenever I set foot into this gym, I know I’m going to get a workout. I am a 58 year old mom who hadn’t spent much time taking care of my health. Colton and Hunter have been amazing to work with. They are both understanding and patient and reassure me that I have the ability to push myself a little more. Which I needed and they were right!
They are knowledgeable personal trainers and they deliver productive and enjoyable sessions - good music, good pace and a whole body workout. I’m a therapist by trade, and so, much of my experience resides in the space of the mind, the psychological impact of our choices and encounters, and the resonating physical presence of how someone is, when they share a moment with us.
On all of those points, I have found Colton Dalzell (my personal trainer and by proxy Hunters Garage Gym) to be nothing short of exemplary.
It is an incredibly rare thing to encounter someone in life who is willing to meet you where you’re at, encouraging your sense of drive with kindness, consistency, passion, knowledge, skill, and most importantly, care.
Colton’s goal, much like a good therapist, is to walk with you, in the pursuit of *your* goals, the discovery of yourself anew, the development of new horizons of achievement, and the challenging of the limits you may not have been honest with yourself about.
He is the kind of coach who makes it safe to engage in the humbling experience of growth.
This allows for the confidence of who you are to blossom and change, climbing like a wall of ivy to the sunshine of a version of yourself who realizes that they can indeed embrace the effort and burn of drive, feel a difference in their body and their mind, and see the joy that comes with well being.
The setting and style of the gym itself amplifies all of the above, with an important balance between the familiarity of rough, unpolished edges to emphasize a focus on the grind, and the invitation of an energy akin to eastern disciplines whereby one can be at peace enough to truly feel, whatever they may, frustration, embarrassment, fear, elation, pride, while having intentionally guided outlets both physically and interpersonally.
I think that actually sums up the entirety of the experience really well: Colton doesn’t just ask me how I’m feeling physically as we move through our workout—he asks me how I’m feeling, emotionally/mentally, as well.
He listens to me.
And that intention and consideration makes all the difference.
In return, it’s my job as his student, to listen to him, through the noise of my internal struggle, as well.

This place is more than meets the eye. Hunter’s programs and coaching far exceed what anybody else in Anchorage has to offer. If you’re looking to pay cheap and get cheap results then you should find the nearest Planet Fitness and be content with going nowhere fast. The coaches at Hunter’s Garage Gym excel in their services while going above and beyond to individually make sure their students needs are met. 10 out of 5 stars, easily. This gym has changed my life not only physically, but mentally as well.

Ever since I started going to this gym I’ve noticed an overall more positive outlook in life. I’m more motivated and it’s easier to stay on track of my goals outside of the gym. At first the price seemed a little high, but between the intensive one-on-one training and the personal connection to keep you motivated, it’s actually very reasonable compared to what is offered by other personal trainers. As well as being able to conduct an interview based assessment of your weaknesses through looking at the way your body moves and discussing past traumas (mental and physical) in order to prescribe exercises to help balance your body and alleviate pains.

I started a program at HGG about one month ago following a year of very infrequent bouts of exercise. Historically, my fitness is the first thing that drops when people and things compete for my time and attention. This year I decided that I would support that pillar of my health. Rather than returning to yoga or Pilates, I wanted something better for bone density and strength. Last night I inadvertently tested the program by reorganizing my garage. I have many heavy totes (think canned goods) and it was noticeably easier to move and stack them this time. I am 100% impressed with their functional fitness program and am very excited to see how it continues to benefit my life outside of the gym.

I got an assessment from Hunter a few months ago and was really impressed with the outcome. He closely showed me where I was weak and what workouts I needed to do to get rid of the pain in various parts of my body that Chiropractic care has not helped with. It was a great help and I would recommend it to anyone who has been struggling with sore muscles or joints that just don't seem to go away.

Let me start by saying that as far as personal trainers go, I have never used them. I always thought the best way for me to stay fit was to set my own schedule and workouts and adhere to them consistently. I still believe there is value in that approach, but after working out with Hunter for about 18 months I can confidently say that as far as trainers go, he brings a ton of value to the table. He can notice your weaknesses before you do, and develop a plan with you to tackle them. He pushes you to try certain workouts where even if you fail to complete them, you walk away feeling proud that you at least tried them, and feel driven to persevere over them next time. My own results can be seen in plenty of new PRs, better physique and mental health, as well as a great group of new friends (the sense of community here is real). Great bang for you buck.

Hunter is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to fitness and exercising in a way to get stronger without getting injured. I'm 52 and have some back, neck, and knee issues. Hunter did an assessment with me to see where I had muscle imbalances and he gave me exercises to work on those areas. I suffered an injury that led to me slacking off on going to the gym for over a year and losing a lot of my strength as a result. They got me back in around 9 months ago, and I feel as strong or stronger than I did at my peak several years ago. This place is incredible! The level of professionalism and craftsmanship these guys bring to the table through their coaching and programming is second to none. The customized service each person receives here is targeted specifically to address their issues, and the energy and culture of the environment here ALMOST leaves you with no choice but to have amazing progress, although the work to required to achieve this will be entirely your own. I’d highly suggest getting an assessment where your weaknesses and imbalances, as well as solutions to them are identified. For the value you get here, the pricing is honestly low. To anyone who wants to get stronger for a sport goal or just to feel better, experiences pain when they move, wants more energy, suffers from anxiety or depression, or just would like to have a better self image, I can not recommend this gym highly enough!

If you have experienced a gym life and have not been to Hunters Garage Gym you have yet to experience the best or if you are a first timer this is still the place for you!
What sets it apart from other gyms is the personal training and knowledge that is available to you. The trainers are extremely knowledgeable and want to see each person learn correct movements to strengthen their overall being, creating a balance in life in the gym and outside the gym.
The trainers at this gym do assessments to see where you need work to improve your overall body and those they do consistently to make sure you are strengthening the areas that need to be.
I am in my late 50s and have never lifted a sandbag , worked with weights or sleds. I have walked into gyms and walked out simply because I didn’t know what to do. At Hunters Garage Gym you have someone always working with you and showing you correct form to avoid injury and to quickly increase your quality of life.
Colton Dalzell is my trainer and he took me with injuries and no understanding of a gym and all the mechanics involved and has taught me how to use sandbags, sleds, weights, barbells and more to help heal the injury I came in with and to strengthen my overall body.
Colton’s knowledge is immeasurable in how the muscles work and is masterful at creating a workout specifically designed for each individual.
This gym is well worth the prices charged and I highly recommend this gym for anyone at any age whether you are in top physical condition and looking to level up or those who have a desire to work out but have been hindered by their mental or physical limitations. Nothing will stop them from figuring out how to strengthen your body through movement with the variety of ways they train.

This gym is incredible. If you are struggling with joint or muscle pain, this is the place to go. The assessments that Hunter and his coaches walk you through are super comprehensive, and extremely intuitive. By the time you are done, not only will you have learned what imbalances or deficiencies are at the root of your pain, but you'll have had an amazing time doing it. For what you're getting, and the care you'll be dealt with you could not ask for a better experience, or price. Highly recommend!!
