If you are in Fairbanks and want to golf, this is a great place to visit and have a fun round. Great family staff, club rentals, driving range, food and refreshments. Extremely helpful. The scenery is beautiful, and the course is unusual and still improving, but definitely some interesting holes and layouts. Enjoy the outdoors and go visit, and don't miss the opportunity to be in the wonderful most Northern Midnight Sun. We will be back!

This was my first time ever playing golf outside of mini golf. The staff was so friendly and helpful.
I went with a friend with some golfing experience so I was able to learn some things. We only paid for 9 holes and that took us abut 3 hours and it's just cause we started playing Scramble. Not just because of the time, but because we were easily losing golf balls. I found the golf course to be breathtakingly beautiful but our balls did go missing at many points throughout. The harder courses were indeed quite hard as there were tough obstacles including large fields of plants you can't get through and small lakes/large puddles.
At the end of the day, I had so much fun and got my certificate for golfing at the Northermost USGA Golf Course. It's an experience I'll never forget.
If you go, I recommend wearing shoes you do NOT mind getting dirty in because it was quite muddy when I went.

We had a free day in Fairbanks before catching a late evening flight home. What a gem to have discovered a beautiful and challenging golf course to spend our day! Happened to find a visitor deal ( clubs, balls, cart and added souvenirs ) plus transport to and from our hotel. We planned to play only only 9 but was having such a great time played 18.Also found out that the course has a program that employs special need individuals teaching life skills to help with course maintenance! Natalie and the staff here was extremely accommodating and exceptional! What a wonderful ending to our 2 week Alaska vacationโค๏ธ

I gave this course 4 stars because I can see the potential. I talked to the person at the desk and found out that the course actually shut down for about 3 years before being bought by the current owner. In those 3 years the course hadn't been maintained, and you can tell that it hadn't. Over all the course still needs work, but from what I was told this will be the 3rd season that they are open and you can tell they are actively trying to fix everything. I would say that about half the holes on the course are in good shape and the other half still need a lot of work. Half the fairways need to be cut and better maintained and half the greens don't even look like they are supposed to be greens. Hopefully over the next few years this course will continue to improve because it was really fun to play.

Traveling here on vacation with my boys from Virginia.
I called the golf course and we were able to get on and get rental clubs the same day.
Iโm trying to golf in all 50 states, and this was my first time to Alaska, and a perk, this golf course is the northernmost golf course in America !!!
The owner are trying to make it better since it was abandoned three years ago, itโs an incredibly tight and difficult course.
Given the terrain and weather, the course is actually in great condition for the location that itโs at.
I would highly recommend playing this course if youโre in the area. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Top-notch customer service.
5 stars hands down!!

Midnight Sun Golf Course has a warm and friendly vibe. The staff do their best to make everyone from all walks of life feel welcome and appreciate the patronage of all their customers. Theyโve done an excellent job making course improvements over the past few years and it gets better each year. All while fighting all the challenges the harsh winters and permafrost have to offer interior Alaska. Donโt expect a pristine course like you find in the lower 48; instead you will find a truly Alaskan golf experience!

The Midnight Sun experience is exceptional. The views on this course are amazing and you often see wildlife in addition to playing a challenging round of golf. The staff is wonderful and friendly they "make" the place. This course is built on permafrost and so it is a challenge to maintain but they do an excellent job1. In addition there was a period of time when the course was closed before the current owners purchased it where it was not being maintained and it was uncertain whether there would even be a golf course there. It is truly coming back! The women's league is a wonder as well. You do not need a handicap in order to play in it and on each night we play with a different foursome. Beginners are welcome. Friends are made this way!

I have been playing this course, since it reopened, because it is very close to where I live. In that time the owners have made great strides at bringing the course back from laying dormant for several year. Because of the soils conditions at this course it will always be a challenge to maintain, but for one I always enjoy playing a round of golf here and the people are the friendliest. I recommend taking the challenge and play golf in this beautiful location.

For only 3 months of non freezing weather the course is in surprisingly great shape. However the experience is pretty cool. Your not battling just the course but alaska it self. There are rumors of a trained fox that comes and steals your ball. I never saw the fox but if you miss the fairway you will forsure be looking for your ball in thick alaskan grass. 10/10 would recommend. Will play again when I come back.

The customer service at this golf is beyond reproach. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Kudos to the maintenance crew of the course. It is amazing how far they have come after the course was abandoned for several years. This golf course is challenging and interesting to play because the are often many ways to play a hole. I also appreciate the other members who play this course. Everyone is nice and helpful. A great place to play golf. (And really great pizza)!!!

Course: This course is quite challenging for me. Keeping the ball on the fairway is essential because the rough can be brutal. There are lots of wildlife to see during your round.
Pro Shop: The pro shop is well stocked.
Practice facilities: The new putting green is fantastic, and the driving range is pretty good.
The staff here are more than just friendly; they create a welcoming atmosphere. They greet people by name and are always happy to chat, making your visit more enjoyable.
Value for money: The costs are on par for the Fairbanks area (pun intended). The food and drinks are fantastic and affordably priced.

Oh, how things have changed. Midnight Sun has taken a long neglected course and over time has made it a beautiful, challenging course. It's not only the course, but the mission of Midnight Sun to give those developmentally challenged a sense of purpose and cared for. It is not just a beautiful golf course...

The managers and owners are most generous and supportive of non-profit golf tournaments. They have taken land, that was animal pasture, turned it into a golf course and in the process provided work skill opportunities. Most golf courses can only dream of the high standards this course is managed by and supported by the owners.

We recently had a function at the Midnight Sun Golf Course and I can honestly say, from the moment we stepped onto the lush green fairways, we knew we were in for a treat. The tranquil surroundings and the sound of birds chirping in the background created the perfect atmosphere for our event. The staff's attention to detail and dedication to ensuring our every need was met left us impressed and grateful. Not to mention, the golfing experience itself was exceptional, with challenging holes and breathtaking views that tested our skills and left us in awe.
What struck me most, however, was the sense of community that permeates every aspect of Midnight Sun. From the warm welcomes to the farewell handshakes, it's clear that this is more than just a golf course โ it's a family. And we feel honored to be a part of it, even if only for a day. We can't wait to return and experience it all again, and I highly recommend Midnight Sun Golf Course to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience.

It rained the night before so I called the morning of our tee time to ask the condition of the course. The guy who answered told me it was dryer than normal and there no restrictions such as cart path only.
When we got to the course we couldnt use the range because it was being mowed. I said well that a good sign if you can mow it it must be pretty dry. She told me they always mow on Mondays.
We played and it was very wet. The fairway were hard to see. There were 2 holes where the fairways were high weeds and clover.
There were 3 temporary greens and the other 15 might have well been.
The views were very nice but still this may have been the worst course I have ever played. I played another course about 15 miles away on Wainwright Army base the following day.It was in very good shape and they charged less. If you want to play the Northernmost USGA course in North America play Midnight Sun. If you want to play golf try the Army base.

Where do I beginโฆ this was probably the worst course I have ever seen. Fairways, no more like my back yard when I havenโt mowed in weeks. Extremely confusing and frustrating. The greens were poorly kept. Goose droppings everywhere, clumps of dead grass in the middle of the โfairwaysโ just awful. Never coming back.

Worst course ever. Hitting the fairway is punishing. Bring 100 balls because itโs hard to find them even when you hit it on the green. Not well kept and really expensive for the very poor quality course.

So this is my first time golfing in Alaska and I'm not sure what courses are like in general this far north, so please take the review with a grain of salt. My expectations may be unrealistic coming from the East Coast.
The Good: The staff at the course was extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. They are obviously dedicated to improving the course and are working hard at it. There are some fun holes, creativity layouts, and beautiful scenery. You also get to say you golfed at the northern most golf course!
The not as good: I did the package where you rent clubs, get balls, and get a commemorative cup and ball for about $100. The cup and ball were awesome. The balls they give you were obviously found on the course and most had scrapes and gashes on them. The type you just leave on the course if you find them. My rental set was mostly good but recommend double checking before you go out and play. I had 2 identical 3 woods and a ladies 7 iron, but I should have looked before I set out.
The Bad: Right now the greens are pretty bad. I'm one of those players that enjoys that part of the game, so it was a little disappointing. They are either just covered with sand or just thick weeded patches. I know they are working on them and appreciate that. Perhaps in a few seasons they will be smooth rolling and true.
Overall, I came so I could say I golfed in the farthest north golf course and that's a big thing the course has going for them. If you're looking more for golf like there is in the lower 48, this isn't really the spot. But the people are great and just getting out golfing on any course is always a great time.

I wanted to share a bit about my first experience at Midnight Sun. I booked a 2 hour simulator session where we were greeted by Chris. Chris showed us the ropes of the simulator and ensured it was working before cutting us loose. He also shared the mission behind midnight sun, and there employment of those with disabilities. I cannot speak to the course yet, but the hospitality and golf simulator are top notch and I will definetly be back to support them in the future!

I took my wife out here for dinner tonight. I got the reuben and she got the chicken sandwich, both were delicious! The reuben was flavorful without being too heavy and the chicken was super crispy and fresh. The fries and tater tots were crispy and hot. With great views of the golf course in the background it was a very peaceful and relaxing dinner.

I give them 2 stars for the effort and happy attitude but this place needs a lot of work. The fairways are pretty much nonexistent, there are no putting greens, just spray painted circles around the holes where the greens should be. Everywhere except around the clubhouse had 3โ-6โ of dandelions, weeds, grass etc. growing up. I only made it through the first 4 holes before I gave up. I should have asked for a refund but I donโt think they would have understood why. The driving range is worth the visit but the course will kill any sense of fun and brings more stress to the game than needed. Iโll check back next year and hopefully it will show an improvement.
Update: The individuals that posted reviews directly after mine are employees/employers of the course. I do not think itโs fair to mislead the general public and it certainly is not right to use the special needs of an employee as a 1up token for your public image. An individuals special needs should never be used as an excuse for why a company fails to provide what they advertise. I also think it is very misleading to offer golfing under the โmidnight-sunโ when in fact your course does not stay open long enough for people to enjoy golfing under the sun at midnight. Final tee-time is somewhere between 8pm & 9pm, which does not allow for there to be a chance of golfing at midnight under the sun.

If you are looking forward to golfing in the land of the midnight sun, that is exactly what you will experience! And when it comes to their employees, Midnight Sun Golf Course has done an amazing job of providing an all-inclusive work environment, you might even see my special- needs son out working on the greens. It is a true gift for him to be employed there and to have such caring staff work with him! There is a place for everyone at Midnight Sun Golf Course! Bring your family out for some fun at Midnight Sun!
