It's the smallest Planet Fitness I've seen in my travels. The machines are too close to each other for my comfort. Wiping down the machines when you're finished doesn't seem to be the norm here as it is in most places. The handicapped accessible shower isn't accessible because there is no shower head and no carrier to rest it on even if there were a shower head. But since there is only 1 handicap equipped shower, I tried using it anyway. The water pressure is wonderful... unless you're chasing the hose around the room, then it's a problem.

Ongoing Concerns Regarding Gym Cleanliness, Equipment Usage, and Facility Maintenance

Also, I am writing to share several ongoing concerns I’ve observed during my regular visits to your facility. I believe addressing these matters would significantly improve the experience for all members.

1. Misuse of Dumbbells and Equipment Oversight
During my visit today, I noticed some members occupying and using multiple dumbbells at once without regard for other customers. This type of behavior limits access for others and creates unnecessary frustration. I kindly suggest that staff periodically monitor the gym floor to ensure fair and responsible use of shared equipment. Additionally, I’ve frequently observed machines left on or weights scattered throughout the facility, indicating a lack of regular checks.

2. Lack of Floor Supervision and Staff Inexperience
While the front desk staff is consistently present, they rarely conduct walkthroughs or monitor member conduct. Furthermore, it seems that younger, less experienced staff are often on duty and are not fully familiar with equipment or facility systems. For instance, when my husband recently reported that the air conditioning wasn’t working in the treadmill and stair climber area, the response from staff was that it is "automatic" and nothing could be done. They laughed off the issue without checking or attempting to assist.

3. Air Conditioning and Temperature Control
The gym has become increasingly hot and uncomfortable during the day. The air conditioning system, particularly in cardio areas, frequently appears to be malfunctioning or insufficient. I experienced this again today, and it made working out quite difficult. I respectfully request that the air conditioning system be reviewed and maintained regularly to ensure it is functioning properly—especially during warmer weather.

4. Cleanliness of Machines and Equipment
I typically visit around 1:00 or 2:00 PM and have often noticed that several machines are dusty and appear not to have been cleaned in hours. For hygiene and safety, especially in shared spaces, equipment should be cleaned at least every 2 hours throughout the day.

5. Staffing Recommendations
I encourage Planet Fitness to consider assigning more experienced and responsible individuals to monitor the floor and address member concerns promptly. A mature and well-trained presence would ensure better oversight of gym operations and significantly enhance member .

If you enjoy being treated like a nuisance while paying for the privilege, **Planet Fitness** is the gym for you. My experience here was a masterclass in **poor customer service, deceptive practices, and outright hostility**—courtesy of **Taylor**, a staffer whose idea of "hooking me up" was wasting my time and money.

First, the **daily pass ordeal**: Instead of a quick check-in, Taylor subjected me to a **needless 20-minute photo session**—as if I were a criminal getting processed for a mugshot. All this for a **$10 day pass**, while he vaguely muttered, *"Have you been here before? I’ll hook you up."* Spoiler: **He didn’t.**

Later, I discovered that **Planet Fitness offers FREE trial memberships for new guests**—something Taylor **conveniently failed to mention** while taking my money. Was this ignorance or intentional deception? Either way, it’s **shady business practices** at their finest.

And let’s not forget his **supervisor**, an older woman who radiated hostility like a malfunctioning microwave. Instead of intervening to speed up the ridiculous check-in process, she just glared as if I were the problem. **Congratulations, Planet Fitness—you’ve turned a simple gym visit into a test of patience and self-restraint.**

**Bottom line:** There are **far better gyms** with **actual customer service**. Avoid this place unless you enjoy **paying to be disrespected**. **1 star**—only because zero isn’t an option.

Pretty regular planet fitness. Way bigger than the northern lights location. They just replaced all the equipment with brand new equipment around November 2024. Lots of good machines. Staff is friendly and chill. Place is always pretty clean. It does get busy in the normal peak gym times but what do you expect. If it's not alaska club I don't think any gyms in anchorage compete.

Love going here, people are polite and respectful for the most part. The lockers are tidy and bathrooms and showers have always been clean. The place surprisingly doesn't smell like a gym (good ventilation); Even when it is really busy. (Why I took a star away) Only down side to this location (I haven't been to other locations) is Friday, Saturday and Sunday they close at 21:00 or 9pm, and don't open back up till 07:00 Saturday, Sunday and Monday. However, I will give them a huge high five in that: I do feel fairly safe working out and going to this gym at all hours they are open as a female by myself.
Also if the hours do ever change to 24/7 they would get all 5 stars

I cancelled my membership in November and the employee that helped me had me sign the screen and told me I was good to go. I noticed now in may that I was still being charged. So I called and they said since I didn’t have an email from back in November they couldn’t refund me which is understandable. The people I talked to on the phone today were helpful and did what they could. I just hope they double check next time and let people know that if you don’t get an email it did not go through.

Gym was over crowded. The 10lb to 25lb dumbbells were not available for the hour and 20 minutes I was there. They were never on the rack; not enough weights provided. They don't have as many machines as the the Northway location; The old lady at the front desk got combative and argumentative at my mentioning the lack of machines; scorned me that she has worked there 10 years and all locations are identical. Then she walked off on me. She obviously cannot count because the floor space at Northway is twice, almost 3 times bigger with many more machines; yet she was rude and argumentative just at me mentioning there were not the same amount of machines. Her rude attitude is enough that I will not return to this location. I will transfer my member ship out to Eagle River where Seth was polite and explained to me how to transfer my membership. Avoid Dimond location due to over crowdedness low number of machines low number of free weights and rude customer service and non-cleanliness. The whole time I was there; I was the only person I saw wipe off their machine when done using it. Kind of gross. They do not have enough machines or free weights to support the number of members in their gym. TOO SMALL NOT ENOUGH WEIGHTS OR EQUIPMENT TO SUFFICE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS. VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. EXTREMELY DISAPOINTED; I am very happy to learn that eagle river is a separate entity as I do not want my money supporting the business provisions at the Diamond location. Especially after how I was treated when asking a simple question.

Great place to work out at. The staff are pretty chill and most of the other customers are there just getting their workout done.

There's a lot of equipment to use and it's really a relaxed atmosphere. Having a black membership allows you to bring one guest free and theres a lot of other things there for members, from trainers, massage machines and tanning.

The staff are happy to help you learn how to use the equipment. The trainers if not busy can help with some information but not much. An example I have bad hips so crushes aren't good for working my core. I was shown what machines would work or put the lease amount of stress on my hips. Just a all around great place. (Sadly they dont allow photo's or videos really, otherwise I'd take some.

It's been a while since I was able to go because of health issues. But I got a good workout yesterday and I got a laugh because the staff remembered me. Still a all around great place.

When I work out at Dimond Planet Fitness, I'm always amazed. The gym is ALWAYS spotless. I'm always seeing employees cleaning SOMETHING, and there's always someone at the front desk to greet me and say goodbye when I leave.

Dawn Reist, the manager, is very courteous and professional; she provides a friendly environment for customers, and the employees all appear to be really happy to be working there. I highly recommend it.

- Good variety of equipment. They even have a true stretch cage.
- Well maintained and modern equipment. The hydrobeds at this location have strong pressure and a easy self check in system.
- Clean and not too busy in the morning.
- Nice, helpful, and professional staff. Shout out to Dawn and Kyle who made our time lifting here fun and easy.

My only criticism, and it's small, is the spartan quantity of 45lb plates. I have a heavy leg press and I needed to borrow all the 45s from a few Smith Machines. Not a big deal!

Once onsite, the staff were genuinely helpful and the entire place was super clean. I would say the layout is pretty backwards with the locker rooms in the back corner. My comment is about my first visit. I went to the location on Diamond with intentions of joining. I live closer to a smaller gym at midtown but I like the size of the one on Diamond better.
I left my phone at home because I don't like taking it everywhere I go. When I got to the gym I was told I needed to join online now. Not having my phone made it impossible to join. I like to wait until after 9:30pm to work out because it's not so busy and I would have better access to the equipment to develop a routine.
I went home, didn't join because now I feel a little disenfranchised. I don't like taking my phone with me. Planet fitness no longer gives you a little card to use when checking in for your regular visits. You must use your phone.

Best gym I've ever joined. For the Black Card membership, you pay around $20 a month for the general gym (cardio machines, weights, etc.), tanning (once every 24 hours), hydromassage, massage chairs, brand discounts, and 50% off drinks from the cooler. Oh, you also get to bring a guest every time you workout. It's a great membership for couples who like to do separate things when working out. The equipment is clean and the atmosphere of the gym is inviting. It gets busy around 5:00 pm, so I'd suggest going before or after that time if you have a specific weight regimen you have to follow. I think this location is the best in town.
