Any other day I would give this PF location a 4. Today it’s a 1.
I stopped in after working a 17hr day to grab a shower and utilize the hydro massage bed before I drove my last 30mins home.
I ended up leaving after my shower, and passing on the intended massage services.
I came in per usual, scanned in, and headed to the locker room.
Erica checked on me while I was showering. She also checked on me while I was in the dressing cubby. I was unable to get back into my locker after showering (which hasn’t happened before), and had to ask the front desk for help. I was told I need to rescan in, and she had to watch me as I scanned in. Then, I had to wait, and wait (still half dressed and wet) to get into the locker with my belongings. On my way out Erica came to talk to me about what I smelled like when I came in. Which is a moot & targeted point considering I am not intoxicated, was in no way behaving as such. I do not do/take drugs, or consume alcohol.
Instead of ending my evening on a nice fresh & relaxing note. I’m aggravated, a bit insulted & far less relaxed than when I came in.

I really appreciate the camaraderie and nurturing atmosphere of helping each other learn that happens in this place. I have had other people exercising around me who have really been so kind and helpful many times while I was just a guest and just beginning to learn how everything works. In fact, I finally purchased my own membership now. I try to be super respectful to others around me, while I’m exercising. Lately, I’ve been receiving the same respect back while exercising, ie: people helping to teach so I get to learn a new machine or just some person being so kind and helpful and adding to my exercising knowledge, by contributing to my learning experience. I really appreciate learning so much, so when someone who clearly has been doing this Planet Fitness exercising deal longer than me, and knows the machines chooses to take a moment out of their day to pass on their knowledge and teach me something new to me for a moment, that is so kind and that has added to making my exercising time a really fun experience.

As far as planet fitness goes, it's about average for size, cleanliness, number or treadmills, and number of cables/ dumbells.

What makes it a 1 is A) No one reads the 2 star comments, and B) The mediocre staff/ management and their inconsistency with enforcing policy. Not every employee of corse, some ofnthe kids that worknthere are great, but others will walk past people indecently dressed, super setting half the gym using a giant bag to "reserve equipment", waring sandles, and playing music on a loud bluetooth speaker to kick another person off a machine for squating in their socks.

It's just not worth the hassle. The valley has better options nearby that are actually open 24 hours as advertised. You'll pay a bit more, but it's worth every penny to not feel like you're working out in a Walmart checkout line on black Friday

The manager here is worthless. I stopped my membership 11/2 years ago when they fraudulently charged my card for my sons membership (he signed up with his own form of payment). I called to to them know and have emailed them, and haven't recieved a call back. When I found originally that I was being charged for both, the lady I spoke to said she would cancel both mine and my sons accounts, but she didn't cancel mine. They're a bunch of thieves, and cowardly ones at that being they haven't contacted me. Make sure you look at your bank statements. I don't live paycheck to paycheck, so I rarely check it. That's my husband's job.

Planet Fitness is amazing. Always clean. Great Customer service. They go above and beyond. I would highly recommend planet fitness. If I had 1 complaint - the staff Emily - she just sprays the window cleaner on the windows and wipes them really fast and they leave a big streak. And I wish there was a family restroom or a family locker room.

My first visit as a guest yesterday left me not wanting to get a membership. I was really looking forward to going as it was my first time going since I’ve had my baby, 11 months ago and going thru really hard pp. The staff was not very welcoming or kind and they didn’t seem to want to do anything but stand around. I forgot my water bottle so I asked if they sold water and they said for 1.50 I said I’ll go get my cash! I came back and they said they only take card, I commented that they couldn’t have called after me to tell me that when I said I was going to get my cash? And the kid said I was being aggressive? I was out of breath from running back to the locker room to get my cash then the locker wouldn’t lock so I had to switch lockers before running back out. The whole interaction just left a bad taste in my mouth and as soon as he made that comment I could feel the tears swelling because I was already dealing with a friends passing, other health issues and anxiety surrounding the gym because I had never been there before. The only reason I stayed was because I was there with a friend. I’d recommend some customer service classes to your customer facing staff. You never know what someone’s going thru. The gym is supposed to be a safe place. Especially for what planet fitness stands for.

I am so frustrated with this gym! I have been a member for over a year and just about every shower I take there at that location is cold! This is a problem considering it is Alaska and we members look forward to a nice hot shower after our work out! So sad because the place is nice and the staff are very friendly. It's nice and clean and the people are nice... but if I'd known I'd be progressing so much better and having more fun at Orito's Kickboxing, I wouldn't have paid for the membership right before that big annual fee... 🤨 The star off was because they did away with the key tags which was stupid, and now you need your phone to enter in or do anything, and I don't want to bring my phone in the gym and frequently forget it.

Had a membership here, not great, also very difficult to cancel, but wasn’t going to leave a bad review. We just stopped by tonight because my 2 year old was having a bathroom emergency and doing the potty dance, they say we can’t use their restrooms. That’s ridiculous. Overall this is a decent location but almost went with three stars instead of four. The equipment is laid out pretty well and everything on the floor was working and clean.

However the showers look like they had been wiped down but not really cleaned in a while. And the worst thing was the drinking fountain looks like it's been wiped down too but actually hasn't been cleaned in months just like the showers. There's black mold in the drain holes, around the edges and also looked like it was in the water bottle pour spout. I almost filled up my bottle of water but really glad I saw that before doing so because it's nasty.

This is not a gym. They are against doing any kind of real work out and they have way too many fees. They have a disproportionate amount of equipment. Even after my husband was diagnosed with a heart condition where he could no longer use the use the facility they still charged him a fee to cancel. I do not recommend anyone going to this place. It is a waste of money.

Over a year ago I gave the Wasilla Planet Fitness 5 Stars. I now rate the place with 2-Stars primarily due to, in my opinion, poor management of the facility. On a positive note, the young staff that work there are always friendly and professional and doing the best they can with the resources they have. Unfortunately, I believe these young people have inadequate senior management they work under. I say this primarily because of continuing issues with the water supply and hot water availability in the men's locker room that management has outright failed to address and repeatedly blames on the city of Wasilla. These issues have been going on for a year give or take and have only gotten worse. Taking an ice cold shower and/or having the water pressure drop to zero in the middle of a shower after a workout is getting old. Additionally, management fails to properly secure the shower heads with plumbers tape which causes them to repeatedly leak and work their way off the threads creating a potential health and safety issue. Bottom line is the place needs a manager who will take action and remedy this big issues along with the smaller issues. There are smaller, somewhat insignificant issues such as the clocks in the place repeatedly reading different times or not working that substantiate my poor management theory. To end on a positive note, good membership price with all the right equipment which is usually maintained fairly well. The place just needs a manager who will address and remedy the water issue in the men's locker room. Thank you!
