The Annex is my favorite place in town to take any kind of movement class. The atmosphere is is inviting, the offerings are engaging, and each teacher has a clear love of whatever class they are teaching. The classes are not just expertly crafted but they are also taught in a way where modifications are normalized and everyone's individual needs are embraced. Each time I leave a class at The Annex, I feel so much gratitude to have a place like this where it's easy to find joy in movement.

If you're not a dancer, this is one of the best places to move in Anchorage. The teaching staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Classes are small enough to feel intimate and personal.

I took my first class at The Annex last night and I am OBSESSED! The class was Fit & Flexy and it was the perfect mix of yoga, cardio, and strength training with some mobility. The studio vibe is incredible, the playlist was perfect, and our instructor (Stephanie) was encouraging and super friendly! Check them out if you want to feel good while moving your body!

Excellent studio! My 6 year old has attended for 1.5+ years and she loves it. The studio is beautiful and clean. Everyone I have interacted with so far is professional yet friendly, and the classes have had perfect balance between fun and discipline. As a result, young kids are actually learning about dance without it being a chore. I also feel like I always knew what to expect and when, there is good communication from the office to the parents and students. I wish all extracurriculars were run half as well as Pulse does. The owner is invested in the success of the studio and it's dancers. The recitals have been very engaging and entertaining too! In the 1.5 years there has never been a situation where my daughter's instructors were late, or a "no-show". One emergency cancelation was followed by an apology from the front office and a variety of ways to get a make-up lesson. When a pre-ballet instructor moved halfway through the year, pre-jazz teacher had to take over right away and did wonderful. I feel like this speaks to the quality of relationships between the teachers and the owner, and the quality of teachers invited/selected. It's my favorite place for sure!

I highly recommend the Annex and classes with Stephanie. :)

This is my favorite space to work out in Anchorage. <3 The Annex is very welcoming, calming, clean, uplifting, with detailed instruction and caring instructors. I have always left feeling empowered alongside a great release of stress. My mood shifts towards joy and my body is grateful for the stretch and strength building. You should absolutely check out a class at The Annex.

After my daughter’s studio closed due to Covid, she wanted to continue dancing and looked at a couple studios. Studio Pulse was her first choice. A bit nervous to join a new studio, she was welcomed by her teachers and teammates. After a year of taking classes and being part of the competition program, she hasn’t regretted her choice. It has been great to see her technical skills and confidence improve throughout the year. If you are looking for a dance studio for your child, I highly recommend taking a look at Studio Pulse.

This studio is a gem! I have taken yoga classes all over the world and am a certified yoga teacher. I would rate this studio as one of my top 5 favorites.I loved the fluidity and playfulness of the practice, and Stephanie the instructor is probably one of the best teachers I have been around. They teach a lot of different classes, and I signed up for as many as I could take while visiting Alaska. I highly recommend checking out this studio!

I first stumbled upon Studio Pulse fall of 2020 when I was interested in getting back into taking ballet classes after a 12 year break. Since I am originally from Chicago I did not know much about what was offered in Anchorage nor did I have any knowledge on studio reputation. Studio Pulse is one of the studios in Anchorage that offer adult ballet separate from their younger students, which was something I was looking for since I was pretty rusty in my training. The adult ballet series have been extremely educational, challenging, and fun! They offer 2 different levels of class series for adults so even if you have never danced in your life you can come learn the art of ballet.

The owner, Stephanie, is a wonderful person. She is extremely responsive via email and phone. When you see her in the studio she is always friendly, and helpful. Stephanie is also very responsive to suggestions you may have for the studio, and you can tell she wants to ensure her students are getting the best experience possible. All of the front desk staff is always extremely responsive and kind. The thing that really stood out for me was how welcomed everyone made me felt when I went for my first class.

I have had 4 different instructors depending on the ballet series, and they have all been great teachers. Each one of them puts in a lot of time and effort in coming up with a immersive and challenging curriculum. Aurora teaches the beginner/intermediate adult series, and she is a fabulous teacher as well as a beautiful ballerina. Even though I am not a beginner I gain so much knowledge from her classes, and am able to fine tune my skills. Brittany taught one of the intermediate/advance ballet series, and she is a great teacher as well as so friendly. Her classes were extremely thorough, and thoughtful! Brittany keeps an impressive book of notes for all the classes she teaches, and she also teaches classes at the Annex sometimes. I have only taken a few classes with Maggie, but I can tell she is very good at pointe work, and puts in the effort to challenge her students.

I took my first 10 week ballet series at this studio in October 2020, and I was hooked! Ever since then I have been consistently rebooking their new ballet series for adults, and made the decision to enroll in both of their ballet series so I take class 2 times a week. I always look forward to my time at this studio learning and challenging myself!

I highly recommend this studio for both adults and children. As someone who danced for a long time I can tell that their students are getting a quality education. It is a welcoming place with a beautiful and clean facility!

Studio Pulse has been a great experience for our 13yr old daughter. After a brief stint at another studio in town, studio pulse had offerings that better fit her interests. Very professional and welcoming and supportive to our daughters level. She has really enjoyed the Comp Team experience and we have enjoyed seeing her develop confidence in her own abilities in dancing as well as public presence. Seeing her celebrate individual and team success has been a thrill. Highly recommend!

The environment, the teachers, and the Studio Pulse community were critical to my kids growth. The studio is very professional, inclusive, and instills a commitment to the art of dance. While maintaining high standards, the studio is also a safe space for fun collaboration among teachers and students who are encouraged to find their artistic voice.

I booked a private class with Stephanie for my sister before her wedding. Stephanie made a custom routine and helped my sister express her femininity and confidence in a safe and welcoming environment. Stephanie adapted the routine to her comfort and ability level. I’m so thankful for her providing this experience! I cannot recommend the studio enough!!

I've been going to the Bodied and yoga classes at The Annex for a couple weeks and will continue to be a regular here. It is a safe and inclusive environment, the energy is so positive, and I appreciate the small class sizes. Whether you are looking for an upbeat workout that feels like a dance party, or an intentional yoga practice, The Annex has you covered!

I love spending Monday (and now Tuesdays!) at The Annex! I am definitely not a dancer, or at least that’s what I used to tell myself. I love skiing, biking, and climbing, but I just thought it would be fun to do something new to switch up my exercise routine. I love mindful movement and connecting with my body in a welcoming environment which Stephanie truly facilitates. Especially after spending this past year living with the stress of Covid, it is so joyful to move and laugh in the presence of others. Yay endorphins! I highly recommend trying something new at The Annex!

Studio Pulse + The Annex has been a refuge for me (and many others) during this time of isolation and uncertainty. It has been a crititcal part of keeping me positive and well physically and emotionally. I am truely grateful to Stephanie Wonchala (the owner) for her effors to take good care of us. She has created a space where I'm comfortable to come in person and dance. Stephanie has put a lot of effort into managing enrollment, assuring more than double the recommneded social distancing, face coverings, sanitizer, air filtration, extensive cleaning....and on and on . My dance class is one of the highlights of my week. Thank you Stephanie for helping keep me well.

Studio Pulse is an integral part of the arts in Anchorage. Stephanie Wonchala (the owner) has provided a community for artists to collaborate and for first time movers to feel comfortable and encouraged. It’s very difficult to find a dance studio that offers both children and adult classes, but Stephanie has a wide selection of beginner, intermediate, and advanced instruction. The teachers are professional and have a great ability at adapting to cater to the students’ skill level.

During the coronaviurs pandemic, Stephanie knew that her business had to pull through, so she turned on her recorder and got to work making online fitness videos to suit her clients new "at home" lifestyle. Studio Pulse is relentless and committed to providing a safe and encouraging environment for all ages, proving that dance is for everyone. I feel an enormous amount of gratitude to her craft and how the instructors share their positivity and creativity with the Anchorage community.

The classes at the annex are so fun, empowering, and absolutely effective in kicking your butt and making you feel strong. I started taking fitness classes from the Annex this year and can't recommend them enough! "Ritual" is my favorite class I've taken. It has cardio, yoga, dance, meditation, strength training, and probably even more things that I'm not listing. Stephanie is so much fun as a teacher, so welcoming, and incredibly dedicated to making sure the space is clean and distancing practices are upheld.

I first tried a few drop in classes at Studio Pulse because of how close it is to my house, but it is hands down one of the best studios I have danced at! Good adult dance classes are so hard to find, but Pulse does it right: the adult ballet classes at the main studio are well paced and accessible, and the dance workout classes at the Annex are so much fun!!! What really makes Pulse special are the amazing teachers, especially owner Stephanie Wonchala, who makes it her business to not only provide top notch dance and workout instruction, but also to cultivate a positive and welcoming energy for each class.

Our 10 year old daughter started dancing at Studio Pulse last year and has blossomed into quite the dancer. She begged us this fall to take more classes and we let her. She even talked me into taking Buti Yoga classes at The Annex! (I now have a punch card for adult classes.) I think our daughter looks up to the older dancers at Studio Pulse as if they were her big sisters. Everyone seems to watch out for each other. The instructors are positive. The atmosphere is healthy. It's a win win for our family.

Both of my daughters absolutely LOVE Studio Pulse! My youngest moved from Mommy & Me last year to Creative Movement this year and is delighted with Ms. Theresa. My 8 yr old can’t get enough, we just added Acro to her other three dance classes. I have taken adult ballet basics, Vixen, as well as Bodied; all AMAZING classes. A well rounded studio with classes for EVERYBODY to participate it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Both my son and daughter dance at Pulse, in the Youth II and Youth Senior levels. Both kids are super happy and comfortable at Pulse. There is a wide variety of classes available, including ballet, jazz, modern/contemporary, hip-hop, and even tap. Pulse just opened a second studio so the offerings have expanded and more class times
are available.

The instructors are excellent with kids and very patient, and also teach to a high technical level. The Pulse recital this spring was phenomenal; there was so much joy and happiness, and the quality of the dancing was truly remarkable.

Most importantly, my kids feel very self-confident dancing at Pulse. We all appreciate the welcoming atmosphere there, which fosters and supports their development as dancers in such a positive way.

Anchorage is very lucky to have this studio in our community! Studio Pulse is a unique dance studio that offers classes for both adults and children. I have taken adult classes since the studio opened in 2013. My young children (ages 3 & 5) have taken classes for the past year and are continuing this upcoming year. Both the adult and children's classes are a wonderful mix of focus on technique, precision, and mastery while at the same time being fun and inviting.

Studio Pulse has a friendly atmosphere that makes everyone, regardless of experience, feel welcome. The adult classes operate on a drop-in basis and no matter how much time has passed since I last attended a class, I am always warmly welcomed back. The drop-in format for adult classes works perfectly for fitting in a class when I can on top of working and parenting. The adult classes offer both combinations that build from week to week and new choreography. Therefore, you won't feel bored if you attend classes regularly but you also won't feel lost if you do not attend classes regularly.

The children's classes are on a regular schedule with a variety of times offered during the school year. The instructors are beautiful dancers with great technique that provide wonderful demonstrations for the children to follow. The instructors provide discipline and have appropriate expectations while also making the classes very fun for the kids.

Stephanie, the owner, is extremely friendly but also professional and listens to feedback about classes that are offered at the studio. The schedule and classes offered change based on that feedback.

I cannot speak highly enough of Studio Pulse and would recommend it for anyone interested in dancing, whether you are a new beginner, a previously experienced dancer wanting to return to dancing, or a currently experienced dancer looking to progress further.

My daughter has taken class at Studio Pulse for the past 3 years, starting as a mini-ballerina and growing from there. I can't speak highly enough of this studio and her experience there. I've watched her grow as a dancer and as a person, learning technique, how to perform, and making friends along the way. As a parent, they offer classes that are affordable with top-notch instructors at prices far less than other studios in town. There's a lovely lobby with a chandelier and you can even buy your student's gear at the front desk (I did!). I have also taken adult drop-in classes when I can find the time, and they're so much fun in a judgment-free environment.

I definitely have the opposite of a dancer's body, but I really enjoy the Dancer Body Fit class at Studio Pulse. The instructor is fun and motivating and it's a great way to get a workout in, especially on days when I don't feel like working out.
Parents should consider enrolling their kids into the Studio Pulse youth programs. The end of the season recital isn't just great for a children's recital; it's a pretty spectacular show. You won't be dreading every second your kid isn't on stage. Plus, the kids look like they're having the time of their lives so win-win.

BY FAR THE BEST DANCE STUDIO IN TOWN!

I started dancing at age 26 and I've been going to classes at Studio Pulse for several years. All the teachers are wonderful professionals. They are especially great at tailoring classes to the students and taking care of beginners.

Stephanie, the founder and artistic director, is so inspiring. She’s an incredible artist and generous with her talent. Her enthusiasm is infectious; her classes are so much fun. When I tried to drop out of the student company recital, she helped me push through the worst stage fright of my life. She's also incredibly down-to-earth, humble, and kind.

The environment is nurturing and collaborative, not competitive. I feel inspired by other dancers, not intimidated.

Dancing has helped me feel comfortable in my own skin for the first time in my life. I feel grounded and present in my body. My chronic depression and anxiety are better controlled than they’ve ever been. I feel much more powerful in my life. I am even more in touch with and better able to communicate my feelings. I'm so grateful to Pulse for helping me improve my relationship with my body.

Dancing has helped me learn from my mistakes. I can even enjoy making mistakes because I know I learn from them. It’s made me more courageous. Dancing is exactly what was missing in my life and I am so happy I found a wonderful, nurturing place to learn more! It genuinely feeds my soul.

I've been attending the adult drop-in classes here for three weeks and am LOVING it. Stephanie (owner/director) is energetic and welcoming and all of the teachers are passionate, supportive, and give you constructive feedback to improve (but not too many corrections at once). The class variety is also amazing - I never thought I'd get to take ballet, exotic fitness, hip-hop, yoga, pointe prep, yoga, pilates, and burlesque all in one place! The studio is very nice and well decorated. Overall a great place to go, regardless of your dance level or experience. I highly, highly recommend it.

Definitely can't miss this place if you've *ever* thought about taking a dance class or just wanting to dance. The fabulous thing about Pulse--and also one of their main features--is that they have classes geared towards teen/adult dancers on all levels. So, there's no excuse to think you're "too old" or "not skilled enough" to begin dancing!

I took a Modern Fusion/Contemporary class with Stephanie (owner/founder) and I had a blast :) Overall, Pulse is a sweet studio with amenities, classes, and people(!) that are perfect to dance and work with.
